The parallels between the unscripted walk-off calls in the final home broadcasts for Vin Scully and Bob Miller made perfect sense.
The Southern California sports gods apparently wouldn’t have it any other way.
Although it didn’t mean nearly as much in the grand scheme of such victories, the Kings’ 3-2 overtime win Saturday afternoon over Chicago in Miller’s 3,352nd and next-to-last day on the job brought the same Hollywood can-you-believe-it quality and opportunity that Scully enjoyed with his game-winning extra-innings home-run call in the Dodgers’ home finale last October.
