Kobe, the kid, and mom
You hear the stories about Kobe Bryant. Then you hear how he can be a pretty nice guy. No, really nice. The other day, it hit home, through a few degrees of seperation.
My sister-in-law Carmen, whom I've never known to lie, exaggerate or even fib just to get her kids to finish their vegetables, drops an email about how she and her mother (who gets around rather comfortably these days in a wheelchair) were out shopping the other day in Newport Beach.
Now Carmen works for a pretty Ritzy hotel down OC way, so celebrity sightings aren't that new for her. In fact, they're quite the norm. (Ask her sometime about the parties Cal Ripken Jr. has when he's in town.) So if someone she ran into actually warrants an email, it must be pretty important.
So, anyway ...
OK, I'll let her tell the story:
"Ok .. so Mami and I are minding our own business at Fashion Island yesterday when I see this guy who (from a distance) I thought was Dennis Rodman (don't ask why) and then as he gets closer I see that it's Kobe Bryant , and I tell Mami.
"She makes me go get him and bring him to her (she's such a princess). Kobe comes to her and ask her how she's doing and so on and snap I take the picture. We talk to his daughter and he goes on his merry way.... Mami is smiling from ear to ear the rest of the time."
As proof this happened, Carmen sent a picture as an attachment.
Kobe, 3 1/2-year old Natalia, and mom.
So, now you know where to hang out this summer if you have some out-of-towners looking to use their disposable camera....

kobe bryant your daughter is so cute she looks just like you i watch evry game you play when i can you is the best in the nba i think you is up there with michael jordan you is so pretty to me i love you i wish i can see you or come to one of your games if yall play in chicago cause that where i am close to but i live in iowa know cause we moved from chicago my friends call me baby bryant cause i play basketball to

kobe bryant, one of the best players in the NBA i watch every game you play ,you and your family are beautiful .may god bless you all , kobe keep up the good job .Stay with the lakers and give them a chance to grow ,Tell phill to bring in some more players to help u all out

i think kobe's daughter is as cute as a cucumber. i guess she gets it form her daddy.
