Angela's bashes

Angela Ruggerio, the U.S. women's Olympic hockey star raised in Simi Valley, just checked in to say she's finished with taping for the upcoming season of the reality show "The Apprentice," which will take place in and around L.A.

Hmmm. Seems kinda fast to be finished, don't you think? Did The Donald fire her on the first show? Was there some terrible Zamboni accident at the Trump International Golf Course that was pinned on her? What gives? ...

All she'll say is ...

"Mums the word until it airs...but it was totally L.A.-style and a very
different Apprentice. I will tell you all about it when I can... Talk to you soon."

Apparently, Donald Trump and his snippy assistant, Carolyn Kepcher, had plenty of time this past weekend off to kick it around the golf course at that over-hyped celeb event in Lake Tahoe. Trump, who claims to have about an 8-handicap but cheats on the course better than anyone who's ever slung a bottom-heavy 5-wood (according to sources) managed only to produce a minus-5 score -- which isn't good. They used the Stableford system, where you get points for doing well and are deducted for doing poorly. Trump was pretty far back in the final leaderboard. Put it this way, if he didn't have an "amateur" status, he would have won about $2,000 for his lack-of-efforts. He was five points behind Ray Romano, for cryin' out loud. And Kepcher finished tied with Worst Golfer Ever Charles Barkley for next-to-last at an incredibly embarassing minus-78 points (the only golfer lower was Lou Holtz who withdrew after the first round).

As for Ruggerio, who made it onto the show by winning an Internet vote that took place during the recent Winter Olympics in Italy, we won't know her fate until the series starts airing in January, Sundays at 9 p.m., on NBC, after the NFL regular season.

Stay tuned ...
