I only wish it was me

For the record, I didn't send this text message "I'm The Hoff" when prompted during a game in Milwaukee recently. I found this shot on the sports blog everyone should be reading daily, Deadspin.com, whose editor, Will Leitch, deserves all the credit for posting this earlier today.

Here's the background:



There's the story of "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff being tossed out at Wimbledon recently for being too tipsy. His comment as he was being led away: "Do you know who I am? I’m The Hoff.�

So anyone of us who's been called "Hoff" can use this, right. But how did "Hasselhoff" get shortened to ... Must have been that Christmas card he sent out:
