Stay tuned

If you're a West San Fernando Valley resident and tried to tune into the start of Friday's Dodgers-Giants game on your Time Warner cable system, you probably encountered a black screen.

Why? No reason. Except for some shoddy Time Warner service. ...

One of our very relable sources said he tuned into FSN Prime Channel 31 at 7 p.m. only to see a black screen with no explanation. He called the Time Warner customer service and "got a nice lady in Canada (no customer service people in LA which I'm sure the City Council ought to know) who tells me that Time Warner doesn't have the rights to the game."

Uh, wrong.

She also said her phone had been melting from all the calls.

Finally, at 7:50 p.m., the game magically popped on. Most likely, someone had forgotten to flip an important switch before going home, and whoever was on emergency duty couldn't figure it out in time.... Just guessing because this seems to happen now and then.

So if you turned backjust in time to see Barry Bonds smack a three-run souvenir off harried rookie Chad Billingsley to put the Giants up 5-4 in the third, maybe you'd just as soon go back to a blank screen. Or, you can go back to your bingo game.

Got a similar experience Friday night? Pass it on ....
