Challenge the Stupid Sportswriter, Week 7

homerperdlaboule_cartoon.jpgA bowling question? Fred Roggin had the nerve to ask a question about the sport of bowling in "The Challenge" on KNBC-Channel 4?
And I got it right?
How was that possible.
Actually, I got five of the nine questions correct, and guessed wrong on the other four, so I ended up with a not-too-terrible 150 points this week, tied for 121st. The winner, Tim Meister, had 265 points.
Like you did better.
The top 25 received tickets to the Clippers-Utah game on Dec. 13. Not that I'd need 'em anyway.
For the season, I'm in respectable tied for 62nd with 1,040 points. The series winner so far is still Patrick Alog (1,720 points), a 50-point lead over Meister.
Just as long as I'm far enough ahead of Mrs. Roggin.

Answers:
murray_ap_011022.jpg1. a) Murray, with 1,505 in 1989 for Glendora High. I had Jacobsen, the wrong Glendorian. 0 points.
2. d) 9. Got it right. 30 points.
3. c) St. Louis. I think I knew this because that's the city where bowling legend Dick Weber is from, right? I got 30 points.
4. d) Owens. Just a lucky guess. 25 points.
5. b) 14, 9 of them in L.A. I thought it was 12. 0 points.
6. b) 5. She competed in every Olympics since 1988. I guessed 4. 0 points. Sorry, but the word "Olympic" wasn't used enough times in that question.
7. b) 3. I was one off. 0 points.
8. a) Mater Dei. Knew it. 30 points.
9. b) Cleveland. Knew it before the choices came up. 35 points. Again, denied the extra 5 points because of the DirecTV delay.
What else am I supposed to do, play it at my neighbor's house?
