Money's back, guaranteed
One point of fact that didn't make it into today's media story on Matt "Money" Smith, and how he took his lessons from the school of rock to the world of sports talk ... how'd he get the nickname "Money"?
It's got nothing to do with the movie "Swingers."
"It had to do with gambling," Smith said, "and doing it back at KROQ with Jimmy Kimmel's cousin Sal (during their stint on the "Kevin & Bean" show). I also like to take care of my money, so maybe that had something to do with it sticking. And because I went to Pepperdine, I think they all assumed I was rich.
"Then the movie came along ..."
And the line "he's so money" became part of pop culture with guys who liked to quote movies about guys who liked to quote movies.
And now we can't get that Neil Diamond song "Forever In Blue Jeans" out of our head because of the headline "Money Talks" that's on the story and the non-sensical lyrics from that tune.
