So Cal's All-Time Roster: No. 60

No. 60:
Our pick:
==Clay Matthews, USC football (1974-'77)

ec48_1.jpgThese days, he roams the sidelines as the defensive coordinator at Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village, where his son, Casey, attended and is off playing at the University of Oregon this season. His older son, Kyle, was a safety at USC ('00-'03) and Clay III currently is making noise as a Trojans wild-haired linebacker. His younger brother, Bruce, also played at USC ('80-'82), and his dad, Clay Sr., was a star at Georgia Tech who was drafted by the L.A. Rams but never played for them, eventually playing four seasons in San Francisco.
And we finally get around to Clay Matthews, the No. 60 who played for USC and made it into the Trojans' Hall of Fame in 2005.
USC went 37-10-1 in his career as an inside linebacker, where he was All-American in '77 and a two-time all-conference first teamer. He ended up with 266 tackles and two interceptions.
Clay wore No. 57 with the Cleveland Browns, his primary employer during a 19-year career that spanned 278 games (third most in league history). The Browns took him with the 12th overall pick in the '78 draft.

Other No. 60s:
==Hardiman Cureton, UCLA football ('53-'55)
A part of the Bruins' '54 national title team, team captain in '55 and a three-year starter on teams that finished a combined 26-4. Named to the UCLA athletic hall in 2005. You can easily make a case for him as the winner for this number.

==Scott Spalding, UCLA football ('87-'91)

Sports Illustrated's choice for the all-time No. 60: Otto Graham.
