Sports Illustrated's 2008 Year in the Sports Media

| | Comments (0) |

It's in the issue coming out this week, with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the cover.

The highlights include:

thewrestlerposter.jpg== The sports movies of the year could be led by what's coming out Wednesday in L.A. and New York: "The Wrestler," with Mickey Rourke as a washed-up pro wrestler, which has created plenty of Oscar buzz already (official site linked here). It ain't "Nacho Libre."

== Its picks for a fantasy TV broadcasting team would be Vin Scully without an analyst (MLB), Bob Papa and Ron Jaworski (NFL), Mike Breen or Kevin Harlan and Doug Collins (NBA), Jim Hughson and the Ducks' Brian Hayward (NHL), Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery (NCAA hoops) and Ron Franklin and Kirk Herbstreit (NCAA football).

== A nod to Adam Carolla for his work in "The Hammer," to Jerry Meyers for his show, "Spirit of the Marathon Runner" and to Dan Klores, for his documentary "Black Magic."

== NBC's pioneering online Olympic coverage didn't dim the power of the TV, writes Kostya Kennedy.

Si, apparently there's a difference was the previous entry in this blog.

3D for the BCS means another long, worthless hike for SoCal viewers is the next entry in this blog.
