Have you got your secret decoder TV box yet, Laker fans?

decoder_ring.jpgReports say that maybe 1 million U.S. homes were affected most today by this change from TV stations ending their rabbit-ear analog broadcasts, forcing those to find a digital reception box.

In time for the Lakers-Magic Game 5 on ABC, presumably.

As the Associated Press reports that the government has mailed coupons for almost 60 million converter boxes, it also mentioned that a man named Leo Jones, a 79-year-old retired school administrator in Ontario, was "chagrined to learn on Friday" that his coupon will not get to him in the mail in time for him to see the fifth game of the NBA Finals on Sunday, when the Lakers could be crowned champions.

"I'll have to visit my neighbor," Jones said. "I would rather watch it at home."

We'd rather find a neighborhood bar.
