Wake up for clay

373a7b306a4c427bb6dbad900f0117ca.jpgWith no more of Dick Enberg calling ESPN2's matches at the clay-happy French Open -- he's been at the last 23 events in Paris - it's Ted Robinson who takes over for NBC starting today (10 a.m., Channel 4, with John McEnroe and Mary Carillo) with the men's semifinals (delayed), followed by the women's final (Saturday, 6 a.m. live) and men's final (Sunday, 6 a.m. live).

Roger Federer's appearance today against Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro is worth noting if only because it's another Grand Slam semifinal appearance for him - 20 in a row - which Robinson says "is to tennis what Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak is to baseball. It's an extraordinary record that will never be touched in our lifetime. To play 20 straight slams is notable, to reach the semis in 20 straight is mind-boggling."

If Federer wins Sunday's final to complete a career Grand Slam, it'll also mark his 14th Slam title to tie Pete Sampras' record.
