The Cartoon McCourts

us_10_19_09.jpgThe work of artist Doug Davis, whose editorial cartoons appear weekly in the Los Angeles Downtown News, is part of a show called "Inking Outside the box" that starts Thursday at the Take My Picture Gallery (860 S. Broadway, L.A.; (213) 622-2256, www.takemypicture.com.), the publication announced (linked here). It runs through May 28.

Of the 28 works the show will include, one above has caught our eye (from Davis' website: http://www.douginks.com/index.html).

A piece entitled "Bench Brawl" depicts Vin Scully broadcasting from the Dodger Stadium book -- talking about the split of owners Frank and Jamie McCourt.

"We get comments being made by Vin about something going on off the frame, and you can just use your imagination about what an actual physical brawl might be like between the McCourts," Davis said.

The cartoon was also a comment about the effects a divorce will have on the Dodgers.

"The divorce is going to affect the game in spite of the protestations of the McCourts," said Davis. "We don't know how, but I think it's going to have an impact on how they play."
