Deepest backfield in the area?

I got the word from WestCo coach Mike Maggiore that running back William Wallace is set for knee surgery this week and he will be ready for the season.
I think Wallace's bad knee was a major reason why the Dawgs never got rolling last year. He was able to run north and south, but God forbid he made a cut. WestCo also lost lineman after lineman last season and was lacking for football IQ.

The Dawgs killed themselves against South Hills by fumbling kicks and not being able to handle punt snaps. Yet they were right in the game in the second half and actually held South Hills' offense down for most of the game. I believe WestCo outgained SH at nearly a 3-to-1 ratio in yards. Make no mistake, the Dawgs have the team to make up for all of that this coming season. Wallace joins Tyler Hockenhull in the backfield and his younger brother Demond Wallace (sophomore) is supposedly a star in the making. QB George Munoz is back, too. Watch out for this team in Division VI (or whatever it's called now) as they should be co-favored with Charter Oak to be the last team standing after the 14th game. And the great news is that they play each other during the regular season.

Here's the sked:

Mater Dei (loss)
Baldwin Park (win)
Monrovia (win)
Rancho Cucamonga (probable loss)
Ayala (win)
Charter Oak (toss-up)
Nogales (win)
South Hills (win)
Walnut (win)
Rowland (win)

The Mater Dei game in Week 1 stands out. Yes, I am wondering the same thing - What the hell is WestCo doing playing Mater Dei? As ambitious as the move is, it comes at the wrong time as Mater Dei will be a veteran team and one of the best in SoCal. The Dawgs must avoid injury in that game.

Projected record: 8-2 or 7-3
League: 1st place
Playoffs: Early frontrunner for division title.

I hear you Joe, truthfully I'm just hopeing that West Co can stay within a couple of TD's, that would be a moral victory in my eye's, the fact is, I'm worried about Rowland & South Hill's & Charter Oak, let alone Mater Dei.

hey dan, i really hope wco beats md it would be great for are league but i just dont think it well happen.MD is just to deep

Dan said:

Just remember Joe, if West Co. puts up a good game against MD in week 1,it won't look so bad for Rowland when West Co. spanks them in week 10.
ooooh I bet that hurt LOL.

joe said:

boy did i hit a soft spot lol.

joe said:

dan, im telling what i heard i didnt even believe it.i cant what until week 10 come to think of it i cant what until week 1 to see md spank wco lol jk

By the way good job with West Co. wrestling,& it's good to hear that the Munoz rumors are false. From Dan

GO BULLDOGS!!!

George's wrestling coach said:

George is NOT quitting football--he will be throwing all year and then cracking heads during wrestling season. Drop the rumors.

Oh and Dan, "dude i really heared it was true from a coach from rowland that is all in to wrestling he said he wanted to concentrate on wrestling"---Really? You "heared it was true??" All I have to say is WOW!

Real funny Joe, may the gods of football frown upon Rowland in week 10.

Aram said:

He's not quitting football. I spoke to Maggiore tonight and he said it's not true. Rest easy, Dan, or just tell Joe that you heard Chase quit to concentrate on basketball.

joe said:

dude i really heared it was true from a coach from rowland that is all in to wrestling he said he wanted to concentrate on wrestling

Dan said:

Joe don't scare me like that, I doubt that Munoz
would give up football, especially with the high hopes this team has. Where did you hear this?

joe said:

is there any truth to munoz the qb not playing football this yr to just do wrestling.

Dan said:

Joe it sounds like its going to be one hell of a game,& come to think of it I think I do remember hearing they had a loss and a tie that year. It sure will be fun, good luck with your teams season.

joe said:

dan, freshman yr they tied how funny is that,it well be very interesting this yr because rowland has new head coach which they needed so bad and believe me when i say this senoir class is the real deal.sad to say this is a one shot deal after this class its back to normal.rowland has to studs both are being recruited by d1 schools ill let yu guess who they are one is lb and other is running back it well be fun good luck.

I also wanted to say that some question marks for West Covina [from my perspective, and I'm not an insider so I could be wrong] would be the
loss of key players in the defensive backfield,Emilio Armenta,Xavier Tucker,Abel Sandoval were some tough, physical, DB's that will be missed,I hear there is some good talent coming up so maybe the void's will be filled.
Another area that I'm not sure about is wide reciever's. They have a good throwing QB so hopefully they will have some recievers to go with that.
Hey Rowland fans, not that it matter's in the present day, but I was curious as to who won the game when these two groups of senior's played each other as freshmen? I know West Co had only
one loss during that year, but I don't know who it was against. The tougher programs they played that year were Charter Oak,Ayala, South Hills,
Walnut,and Rowland that season.

Aram I wrote three post tonight [Saturday night]
but I just realised that I gave you the wrong e-mail address [I forgot one of the 8's] so you should have it with this post

I also wanted to say that South Hills is South Hills and will always be in the mix, even in a rebuilding year. West Covina alway's seems to have a tough time with them so even with the high hopes for this Bulldog team they can't take the Huskie's for granted,it should be a battle between West Co,Rowland And South Hills. Does anyone know about Walnut?

Dan said:

Joe, although I think Rowland will give West Covina all they can handle, I think West Co will
win a close one against Rowland, that is if they can stay healthy. Although Rowland shut down West
Co's running game last season the Bulldogs lost a key lineman in the 1st series of the game, Don't forget that West Co. had a TD called back in that game and also a big interception return
deep in Raider territory called back. Rowland had two good drives in the second half but West co's "D" shut them down as they got closer.
I think the key to your game against us were the two Samoan brother's you had on "D". Without them I bet West Co would have won the game.
As far as Rowlands size next season, West Co has always played bigger teams and done well,
in 2004, during their CIF title season their
biggest man on "D" was 223lbs, on offense they had 1 lineman that was 251lbs the rest were 223lbs & smaller. They were regularly going against linemen that were much bigger ie: South Hills, Charter Oak, Paramount, Walnut,& your team. Last season was a similar situation although the Bulldogs had a little more size than in 2004.

weres all the west covina fans i need a take!!!!

West Covna better crush this year.... good luck with Mater Dei!

Johnny Redmond said:

Aram? Why does Rowland get no credit, every year! They got Rene Smalls and Chad Norys who are both D-1 prospects and they still get no credit. They will beat West-Co, they beat them last year and they will be them this year.

joe said:

please be real no one in san antonio league well beat rowland this yr they are way to big and fast and this yrs senior class is the best in the area.
