Tribune boys get street cred back for the East!!!
GET SOME!!!

Trib MVP - Edwin Edukere (Diamond Ranch)
Star-News MVP - Kyle Austin (Pasadena)
Tribune boys team was up by double-digits seemingly the whole way and got the East side of the Valley a win in the series with a rout of the heavily favored Star-News. The game got chaotic at the end and was called with around 20 seconds left as there were some cheap shots.
Every Trib player had a great game and the Star-News team just never got going. They were talented, but it just wasn't their night.

Aram are you going to start a new thread about the new CIF divisions for basketball? Didn't it pass on Tuesday? What will it mean for area teams?
Yeah, I had a feeling this would come up. There are two ways a coach can approach an all-star game, the first being the "everybody plays and we'll see what happens theory," or "lets go out and win and keep a rotation in at all time that gives us the best chance to do so."
Coach Gorball is a class act and he wanted ALL of his players to be rewarded with ample playing time. Coach Mayberry is also a class guy, and it was important to him to get a win. As you could see, the underdogs on Saturday night in both games had a huge edge. They took it much more seriously and were paid off accordingly.
Put yourself in Mayberry's shoes. He heard all week about how good the Trib girls were and he obviously didn't want his girls to get embarrassed. Instead, they did the embarrassing. Fair enough. I think of any player, in either game, Brittany Spears impressed me the most.
BOYS: East side was a bunch of ball hogs. No team effort and the cheap shots was just a total embarrasment to themselves and their families. West side played less selfish and thats why they won. Bonita player should be comended for walking straight to the free throw line and not even looking back when the pg from muir leveled him with a play that should only be for the football field.
Girls: Aroyyo coach should be commended for playing each and every girl the same amount of time. Those girls worked hard to be there and he understood that and rewarded them all. The Pasadena coach was out for his players and Brittany spears only sat 2 min. in the first half and around 4 min in the second half. All 3 pasadena girls were in a the same time and it was obvious they would bypass the other 2 players on the court to get the ball to Brittany. Thats weak and shows no class. I feel bad for alot of the East side girls that saw minimal playing time. There worked to hard and deserve much more then what they got.
So what happened to Ralph Monday's "Mark this down--we're not going to lose?" I wonder what he said after the game.
