Here is a follow up to how the Walnut Swimmers did as far as qualifying for CIF Division 2:

All 6 of our boys and girls relays qualified

Out of the 13 swimmers who had individual cuts, 11 made it.

The following are what individual events they will be swimming on Friday. They did great!
Rachel Grant: 200 IM and 100 back
Norika Kotani: 100 fly and 100 breast
Monique Saliu: 50 free
Eileen Tran: 100 back
Michelle Utama: 200 Im and 100 breast
Jennifer Wen: 100 breast
Jessica Yu: 50 free

Brendan Cheng: 100 breast
Shane Hurter: 200 free and 100 back
Vincent Pai: 200 IM and 100 breast
Andrew Utama: 200 Im and 100 breast

Over-all it's one of the best showings we've had!

RE: Miramonte league swim finals

I don't have the list in front of me but I know it was either called in or emailed in to Aram.

Can you list some of the Miramonte league champions?

BettyB said:

Miramonte league swim champions are the Charter Oak Chargers. Charter Oak won league all four levels yesterday. They may not have the fastest swimmers but they have depth in their program and will improve over the next four years.

Congratulations Chargers!!!

I was at san antonio's league prelims yesterday, and i heard the announcer annouce that a new league record was set, by Rachel Grant in the 500 free. So it should be a good race tomorrow to see if she can better that record.

The 100 breast should also be a good race with 3 girls within 1 second of each other. Once again, the league finals will be held tomorrow, May 5 at Walnut High School at 3:00.

Any reports on the league finals this week? I have not been able to find anything on line at any site. Any records broken? I would like to know how things went in all the leagues Miramonte, San Antonio, Sierra etc. If any parents wants to post the information it would be helpful.

Thanks on your comments on Andrew and your focus on swimming in our area! San Antonio League final will be on this Friday, 3pm at Walnut High. We expect a good crowd and strong, record-breaking swims :) In addition to Andrew, we should see some good swims from Rachel Grant, Vincent Pai, Shane Hurter, Angela Kanagowski, Norika Kotani, Ilene Tran, Michelle Utama, and many others.

I think San Antonio Prelims are at Walnut High School on Wednesday the 3rd of May at 3:00 and Final are on Friday at Walnut High School at 3:00. I am pretty sure those are the times but I will see if I can get the Coach to confirm them.
