Bogan v. Gano ... the Valley's first showdown is just five days away!
Who do ya like?

check out the good article about the game in Sunday's Tribune ...
Scary thought: What if Los Altos lost?
Scary thought, the sequel: South Hills as an underdog.
Aram's favorite Gano moment: LA has the ball deep in the shadow of its own endzone last year against Damien. It's before halftime and the Conqs are losing. Gano wants no piece of sitting on the ball. He has Castaneda go for the casa on a bomb to Chapelle Brown. The ball is overthrown. Very next play, same thing. This time, the ball is on the money, BOOM, 90-yard touchdown. Why the heck not?
Aram's favorite Bogan moment: I asked Coach Bogan after last year's CIF title if that was the best SH team he'd had. He thought about it, and then started verbally running down the list. It was like a rich man having to choose which of his 30 sports cars he likes best. "The 2002 team was pretty good, but then 2003 may have been better. Then you've got 2000, which was special ... and this year's team was so impressive." ... "The Ferrari is nice, but the Lamborghini handles better. And then there's the Aston Martin." ... Those aren't direct quotes, but you get the point. How can you pick? One of many dumb questions I've asked in my career, but at least Bogan tried.

Let me tell you...my junior year was the first year we ever played south hills, and we dominated them 30-6. The very next year...42-13. The funny thing is that we all knew the guys who played for SH, and they all knew us. We would talk crap to each other b4 the game, and we hugged afterwards. If there is any doubt that theres is no rivalry between these two teams, trust me...THERE IS!

What a player C. Brown from LA was! Seen him that night and at the All Star Basketball game going up up and dunking at like 5ft maybe 9 inches! Wow! But the best part of the Damien game TD is that Damien didn't change their Defense alignment/assignment even though he never made it back to the huddle! Playground SOS "same old S#$t !" play. Man coverage iso "Harper vs, Brown" = TD 97 yards! Nice call! lol Safety playing over right tackle looking for the Tony Dorsett 99 yard draw, lol Can I get a do over? lol Yes Damien won and that's what counts but someone got out coached on that one! opps!

to answer the question you asked Bogan, the 2000 team would have to be the best by far. no HUGE superstars like winbush or others they have had recently (unless you count jason murray). no HUGE players like they have had recently (the stud of the line was 195lbs). just good coaching, and the most heart i have ever seen from a football team. that team will always be remembered.
if you remember before that year their rivalries were covina and northview. how far that program has grown.

*50*....have u seen the LA "D" line?...even with the loss of the big guy in the middle, they are as athletic of a line as they have had in the schools history, but i guess we will have to see FRI.

Aram I think you may have started a new rivalry between these 2 schools, not sure who South Hills rivals are but usually Los Altos rivals are Wilson & Charter Oak. This isnt a bad idea to have these two teams go at it. Gano and Bogan go way back and I know they always enjoy when their team beats each other. This years game should be very interesting with many question marks on both teams yet great talent to back it up.
And Aram when will the High School Preview hit the news stands? If you can let me know that would be great.

When you say South Hills is an "underdog", do you mean in a gambling sense? If so, what would you make the line on the game? (Obviously for informational purposes only.)
