POSTGAME: Cry me a river or talk your smack ...
Tell us what game you went to and what you thought ...
I was at Amat: Standing on the sideline, I heard the angry yells from fans. I don't know what to tell you all. You guys pack a stadium as good as any fan base I have seen and you deserve to be rewarded. I think that all Amat fans should remember the average age of the coaches on their staff. Not sure, but I don't think I saw anybody wearing a headset tonight who isn't my age (30) or younger. Right around that age group, for sure. Because this is the path the powers that be at Amat have chosen, there's going to be growing pains like there were tonight. I think that Coach Verti needs the support of the fans. It was told to me tonight that there are only THREE seniors starting on defense. The top running back was on crutches with his leg in a cast. The QB is in his first year under center. It's not like Verti was handed a stacked deck. And tonight, he was facing the Herrington Family, which when you're a rookie head coach, is a tough assignment. Yes, it was obvious who made the better adjustments at halftime. Amat was down 14-9 at the break and got the ball first in the second half, but the score late in the fourth was 39-9 ... mama said there'd be days like this. This is a young coaching staff and you have to give them time to be in the wars. Hart has been in the wars, as my man Rudy Ruiz put it not-so-eloquently tonight. Verti and staff are going to do fine. They're not in the best of situations right now, with the predicament of the team being what it is. The good news is that the frosh team is loaded and there are so many underclassmen getting their feet wet this year. I wouldn't be too hard on the coaches or the players THIS SEASON. They played the game out tonight and scored late for pride. I know, that's not a great sign when you're playing/coaching at Amat, but it is what it is.

Hello from the fashion business, I really recognize the function you've done in this post, it was a great read. I'm a visiting tutor at Goldsmiths University, London, and am on the editorial board of an on the net forum for market specialists. I am grateful to come across this post.
In corresponding announcement, Nike's new slogan for Tiger Woods is Just do me.
Lest we forget that the last basketball coach, Ray Lokar, won a CIF Championship in his first year at Amat. And if I'm correct, he did not have a spring practice with the players or any prior association with the team. So you can be successful immediately if you know what you are doing! Being in your 1st year is no excuse - either you can coach NOW - or you can't.
Amatwillshine, you are correct, this is not Vertis first time with the offense so he knows the way things work. It's not like he walked off the street into the program. He knows the kids on the team so he has that advantage already and he should be using it. Trouble is, will he or does he blind himself simply because "he says so"?
BA 24/7, I'll take your word that you know about the seniors on the bench since I am not that familiar with them. I see only one soph producing out there and he is a saftey or a LB, I can't remember which. The soph that's starting at corner is getting burned most of the time, the opposition knows and is going after him. I still would like to see more players get into the game because going both ways doesn't give us a clue as to who can perform and can't show it, especially juniors if what you say is true.
BIG DHS,
I'm sure you wanted to say "Bruised lung" RIGHT? Not "Brocken Ribs and Punctured Lung". Being a MD,I can tell you there is a BIG difference. Nevertheless, a bruised lung is painful enough.
RY-FIzzLEs where do you get your information when you can make a statement like "with a QB who compains about a little smack here and there !!"
Have you personally heard him 'compains' (do you mean complains)? He never complains about little or big smack here and there - he did have broken ribs and a punctured lung during the St. John Bosco game - complain? No! He prayed....and his prayers and those of others were heard. There was no complaining and you will never hear him complain. He's too much of a "man" for that sissy stuff. Best you get your story straight before making up stories about someone you don't even know.
Anyone who watched Damien beat Claremont last week would agree that, despite the lopsided score, there is work to be done and certain areas that can be improved. For example, the 2 1st & goals for Damien. You could say Claremont found some pride and made some big stops. Or you could say you've gotta score when you've got 1st and goal. Room for improvement. If I recall, our running game could also improve. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20.
Improvement is what Frank Corona is about. I confess he made me crazy last year, but that's because I'm ignorant and he was way over my head with what he was saying. So yeah, maybe he can be perceived as a know-it-all, but it's knowledge, even expertise. He sees something, figures out the solution/correction and wants to share it.
And he's not talking for his own glory. He's all about the kids and helping them, teaching them to become better players by sharing his knowledge. Encouraging them. I've seen it.
And Zach is an outstanding gentleman, a good friend to my son and welcome at my home anytime.
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Frank Corona knows a lot about football and cares even more so.
Thanks Frank, for all the help and support you've given my son. I invite you again to come to the games as my guest, and share your football insight. I'll be missing you until you do.
yeah yeah you spartins are taking all the hype right now but just wait till tonight.. you guys that you got it good.. ahah well we will see wat you guys got and how good of a team you guys really are with a QB who compains about a little smack here and there !! yeah castaneda may only be 5'7 so wat.. has your QB can close to braking a record ? so wat if you got guys that are 6'6 i bet ira will buck all those foos and lay a nasty hat on them. and rex foss come on now why you guys say that for you know you guys are going to get a new one ripped by foss !! but hey talk your smack and take the hype its going to matter in the game tonight !
Bleeds blue and gold..........First off this senior class of players are not that good and we are relying on out Juniors and Sophs......there are no Superstars here and the one we do have is Gaise and he is out.....sure there is Fletcher but he does allot of Talk the talk but does not walk the talk........our core really is Juniors.........what this says is next years team will be dynamite...........Carrillo is good but he is in no way going to lead us to a league or D1 title........The senior that is not bad is Escalera on the O-line..........look at these juniors that will be back...Austin (a friggin monster college recruit right now)...Ochoa, Silva , McBride, Wagner, Bonilla(this kid is good),Wells (very solid player), Mead, Stremple, not to mention that slew of Sophmore that we are trying to start right now......plus have you seen our Freshman QB......he has all the tools of the next great qb at Amat......I would not be surprised if he started over Tamayo next year.........next year is the year we will have a good crop of kids to play with our seniors....If no one has figured it out yet this years senior class of players is weak.........Dont blame Verti just yet.....if we lose next year with the team we are going to have then I can see the Verti bashers come out.......this is just one of those years....Castaneda is good but at what D6...where is he going to college Citrus or Mt. Sac for 13th grade.....he is 5'6?........Dont worry there are great things to come for Amat and I do agree we need to play more bench players because there is some good talent there even on the scout squads.....OUT!
BA 24/7, this is Verti's first year as HC, but not his first year running the offense. I am not going to give him a break when he chooses not to make necessary changes when necessary.
As for recruitment....Amat does indeed have the best connections. It is also up to the HC and other coaches to use their networking capabilities. I know first hand how it works. And I also know that coaches pick and choose who's names they want to put out there. HC's use players as a marketing tool for the school. If a good player does not get the support of his coach in regards to colleges looking at them, the player must do the work.
I will not accept anything less from Verti because nothing less is accepted from the players. Amat has a tremendous football tradition and our boys deserve the best.
At that time USC brought in Pete Carroll. What we are seeing is more like what happened when USC brought in Larry Smith. Unfortunately, it is going to get worse before it gets better That is probably across the board in all sports. You say, "We do schedule very tough teams because simply put WE ARE AMAT" . The basketball coach has done the opposite and scheduled an AWEFULL schedule just to get himself some wins. Where is the "Lancer Pride" there? Oh, that's right - he is a Swordsman, just like Monsignor. And that is where it all starts. Once a Swordsman -- always a Swordsman !
There sure is alot of bashing going on between the Damien parents. As for us at Amat we certainly have high expectations for our program simply because it is one of the best in the valley. But you do not see us beating each other up in public because as Lancers we stick together thru thick and thin. I also see things wrong with the program right now but we do need to give the coach a little more time than 3 games. If I need to vent I do it at the games sitting with my alumni buddies and have a good time with it because as it has been said before,"It is only a game." We do schedule very tough teams because simply put WE ARE AMAT and would not have it any other way. As John put it earlier step up we will take you on . I know it is a college program but remember what was going on at USC a few years back. Let's hope the same good fortune will happen at AMAT and we get this turned around.
Always a Lancer
BA 24/7, sure Vetri has a good mix of seniors and juniors with a few sophs thrown in, but what good is it when some of these guys are going both ways? It's the SAME GUYS on the field the whole game! Does this mean that he has nothing on the bench? There are over 60 players on the team. Out of these, there is NO ONE worth 2 cents to be on the field that he HAS to stick with the same guys?
I'll tell you what happens, you lose quality talent to other schools, the Castaneda Bros. come to mind and others I'm sure I don't know about. This will ALWAYS be my beef about Verti and any other coach in their system who plays the game this way. I feel sorry for the other kids who are probably just as good, or if not, pretty damn close if they are given half the chance but never get to show it. Nothing is more demoralizing to a player to be busting their ass out there all summer long just to wind up a spectator on the sideline. Sure not everyone is a starter or All League material but there a lot of kids on that sideline who can contribute given half the chance.
If they bomb out this year fine, Ill write it off as a first year experience. If the same crap happen next year and he's still playing this it the same way, the stands will not be too friendly for those home games believe me. The natives were restless during the Hart game and we've got 7 more to go. I don't mind losing to quality programs but I'll be damned if we will put up losing to inferior teams. Let's find out what happens tonight.
AmatwillSHINE.......Point well taken but success does not happen overnite. If the play calling is what is bothering you about Verti that is not what will make or break him as the coach at Amat. Everyone does not not come out of the starting gate fast and in Verti case and we are talking three games here he has stumbled so far. Everybody has their own style and this is his first year, he is a talented young man and given the time of 2-3 years more under his belt this program is going to be back on top again. Take a look at what pro coaches inherit (and I know this is pros) and it does take them 3-5 years max to get a program headed in the right direction same with college coaches. High school is no different. Business is no different. Managers come into dead beat companies and it takes about 5 years to really shape things up. The arguement here for lots of people is we will lose the area talent and they will go to LA SH WC etc. but this is D-1 and parents out there know if they have a talented big kid his exposer is allot higher at Amat for college coaches to come see. Like I said earlier Amat is on the map as a D1 and parents want their kids to come here. Cornell and Bennet were from Azusa. they come to Amat and now look where they are playing.....Verti also has a lot of connections coming from his playing days at UCLA that if he has a special kid he will call the recruiters to come take a look at them. Amat will always get the area talent and exposer and that is what troubles the Anti-Amat people...AmatwillSHINE hang in there it will get better if not this season next season. Lets not be impatient or become a turncoat with Verti and dont give up so easy. We will be back!.....Those assistant coaches I do question their ability but not Verti's.....All Verti has to do is get more experience and some good quality mature coaches around him....Like a President you must put good men around you to make you successful..........Verti will find his way........3 games and people want his head on a platter......3 years of losing then we will can all want his head on a platter.....everyone needs a chance to prove themselves...........I am sure in life not everything went smooth for everyone we all needed time to get there......Amat 24 Rancho Cucamonga 17...OUT!
I've had the chance to read many of these blogs and it seems there is alot of bashing going on. Sure progams like Amat,Charter Oak,Damien,South Hills and a few others are rich in tradition and have given us many years of enjoyment on friday nights. Ladies and Gentlemen lets not loose the perspective that this is still youth football. These young men step on the field on Friday nights risking life and limb for a few hours of your enjoyment. They do it for the love of the game with dreams of moving on to a university or maybe even a pro career. I have yet to see a high school football player sign a million dollar contract. As for the coaches be it Bogan,Gano,Farrar or a host of others. These men work long hours for a little pay and do a damn good job of taking care of our kids and teaching them lessons on life. A lot of times these coaches pickup where we as parents come up short. So quit your _itching moaning and groaning and go watch a high school game. Springsteen said it best. These are their "Glory Days" and all these young men will be talking about their accomplismments and misfortunes at the 20,30 and 40th reunions. And remember folks our high school ball players read these blogs as well.
Now for my two cents on South Hills and its present 0-3 start. South Hills-Los Altos one of the best second halfs I've ever seen. Two well coached teams fighting down to the final seconds. Lost by 1 point. You knew it was going to be a great game. South Hills-Trabuco Hills a few less mistakes and one or two more defensive stands and South Hills would have come out on top. A loss by only 3 points. South Hills-La Habra Hey things happen! Our kids had a bad night but it was a very physical game on both sides of the ball. South Hills-Claremont should be a great game come out and see
I know a lot of people talk about their schools being in a rebuilding year. I can tell you that in South Hills case that is true. They are very young and will be a force to recon with the next 4 years in the valley.Varsity has at least three Sophmores now going both ways. Remeber these names you'll be hearing them a lot the next couple of years Evan Herd TB/FS Wayne Goss FB/CB and Chris Bowden MLB/FB/TE Keep an eye out for these kids. They have some great talent coming up as Juniors and Sophmores and the Freshman team under Brian Johnson is looking really good again this year.
In closing if you think you can do a better job than the men who prowl the sidelines, pickup a clipboard and a whistle and go to work just dont complain about the long hours, meanial pay and _itching parents
Come on BA24/7...I can appreciate your opinion to a point since you are a true Amat fan, but please give me a break. You know good and well that Verti is not "D1 head coach material". As I have said in my past posts, last year I thought it was all Coach D until I found out for myself first hand that Verti was the one making all the offensive decisions. With all the talent on last years offense, he consciously did not make the necessary changes nor listened to the other coaches when they made suggestions. Now this year he is the head coach and we see the same thing on the field, only worse. I can understand that Amat does not have as much talent this year, but the decision making is still the same. There are other players who would love to have the opportunity to try to prove that they can fill in where needed, but Verti will not give them a chance.
What A Joke: You're rightfully named. Los Altos 38 - Damien 0? A fan missing from the grandstand doesn't make or break a team. Football is not a popularity contest. It's the hard, concentrated work of the 11 boys on the field, the coaching staff brains and refs who call a good game that shows the final score on the board. May the better team of the game win Friday night.
Gaisie is out until league play. And he's not the only Amat injury issue.
Aram: For months I have been reading your POSTGAME blogs written by many. Today, 9/22, I got caught up and was amazed and actually upset at how so-called adults can bash each other and think it is okay to publish it on the POSTGAME blog. How embarrassing for the students, schools involved and parents of the innocent. Come on dads, grow up! Be a role-model for your sons.
gaisie is still on crutches.
Gaisie's fine. don't worry
WHATS GOING ON WITH GAISIEEEEEE?!?!?!?!
It has been awhile since I have Blogged due to this blog now being a witch hunt for our coaches at Amat. Yes I do agree changes need to be made to the defense as well as finding some offense that can score points without Gaise in the lineup........I just would like to see our coaches get a fair shake and give them the whole season and not three games to prove themselfs, after which we can get on this blog and tear them a new one if this team fails or praise them if they make the playoffs.......the jury is still out on this staff and yes everyone has a valid point from their youth as coaches, to, did Monsignor make the right choice, to, are we playing our best talent in the right places. It will all come out at the end of the season. I do agree that some of our players read our opinions and some have even come on here or still do, but as Amat loyalist we need to be patient and stop bashing the football program and the Monsignor and stay focused on what is at hand, which is 7 more games of either a winning season or a losing season. If we go 1-5 in non league but go 2-1 in league and get in the playoffs bottom line will be we still made the playoffs and that is not bad for a new coach and a transition year not to mention not that much talent coming from the seniors on the team....If we fail and go 1-9 and stink up the season then yes Coaching adjustments must be made but not with Verti. I am sure he will learn as well, that he needs to bring in older more experienced coaches to help his winnings and future as the head guy. Most of our talent is lying in the Juniors and sophmores presently on the team, not to menton some very talented JV and freshman talent that will blend with these juniors for next year....We will have a very talented and great team next year....If our season is down the toilet and Coach Verti will know when that time is, he, I know will start looking and planning next year during this season.....Hang on Amat fans and all the Amat bashers.. this is not something that will last with Amat if they are losers this year....Just one of those years, but this is Amat and they will be back if not this year then next year but this is not going to be a consistent losing program. Kids from all over will still flock to our school because it is and will remain a very popular football school. It is on the map for good and will continue its winning tradition......keep it positive Amat faithful it could be just one of those years........OUT!
Wow here we go again "AMAT FANS" stirring up a frenzy at the first sign of adversity.I thought we were taught to fight thru adversity and find a way to win. It is this same way of thinking that has killed us for years. Do you honestly think that a coach was going to walk into AMAT and change the entire program in one year. By all of these negative comments you have taught the players (yet again) not to trust their coaches. As much as I hate to agree with the CO guy, he's right......Ripping the coaches on the internet for all the players to see undermines the entire program....I challenge the players to really take a deep look at themselves and ask, AM I SELLING OUT AND LEAVING IT ALL ON THE FIELD? I'm sure there has been coaching mistakes but the effort does not appear to be a consistent 110%....We need to stop looking for excuses and start holding everyone a little responsible(including the bloggers). As a former Lancer, I challenge the players to dig deep and find a way to win.....I also challenge the coaches to look passed these last weeks and prepare the kids for what counts RANCHO.....Finally parents, fans, and alumni don't be fair weather fans, post positives......Save the critiques for the end of the season.....GO DAWGS!
WOW, there is some hatred at Damien. This can not be good for the boys in question. Personal vandetas should not be hashed out in the blogs. Let the boys have fun and play.
Lets stay on the topic of the football in the San Gabriel Valley.
Lets get back to Amat, any word on Gaise and has anyone found out what happened to that D-Line player from last year?? The kid that transferred if from Montebello.. He was a big body and a monster on the line.
As for the youth at Amat, yeah there is some big ones in the lower classes and we need to keep them. As long as parents do not get disallusioned about the Amat mystique and take their kids out we will be fine for the future. And yeah we have all been giving Verti hell, that comes with the territory of being the head coach of one of the most powerfull programs in the valley. I still say there are some things that he can do to the coaching staff by adding a coach here or there with experience. It is good that they are enthusiastic but enthusiasm only goes so far.
Another tough one for the Lancers this week. It seems week in and out it is another tough school, thats why they are talked about so much. Like it or not, no one playes a tougher schedule in the SGV than Amat. Teams are making their schedules for next year so step up and come at us.
OK, we've gotten way off topic on this thread. I apologize to those of you who are sour with me for letting it get this crazy, but honestly, maintaining this blog is one of several duties I have on a daily basis and reading thru many of these comments is very time consuming. PLEASE, try to stick to the topics.
http://www.sgvtribune.com/preps/ci_4371951
Okay, that's just weird. Is the blog commenting suddenly causing stories to churn out?
Hey to all you parents who think they are still playing..get over it..this is your childs life not yours....stop living through them..oh and aram the kid over at covina had 3 touchdown passes last week not 2...he is legit
Aram,
I for one will not ever post (after this posting)again on this blog due to the intense personal and relentless "name calling" and "ousting" of posters.
It's truly ashame that certain individuals find it necessary to attack other blogers for thier views. After all, isn't the sharing of views what bloging is all about?
It's really a shame because, Aram, you have done a great job with this blog and, I'm certain it's conceptual purpose was to provide a prep sports forum; not a device to spew personal hatred towards individuals and/or posters. Give me a break! Adults sometimes need to grow up.
Good luck in managing this mess which this has recently become. Advice: Be more cautious in allowing postings which are pure and simple personal attacks towards other posters. Let's stay on subject.
Smell of blood in the water.
I came for the kids Christian education and that's it--- Mr. Eddie Gomez and ALLDADS!!! Or whatever other alias your simple mind can come up with!
I post because it's a blog see you're posting as well. They outlawed stoning in public but not @ Damien. What is it with the coaching job? Move on. Talking about not having a life! Move on. Kissing a coach's ass? Move on. I haven't talked to ANY JV coaches since the kids got the pads! ASK THEM ! Move on!
Throwing kids under the train? Do you KNOW my kids? Move on. What kind of screwed up poor excuse for a man are you. Move on.
Truth is-- at this point what is it?
You call yourselves Christain Catholics? Sound more like hypocrites! Every other Public school has had dad's commenting DAILY, lifeless dads I'm sure, but daily blog messages. Amat has daily blogs from Blu, or others- It's a blog! It not a GET A LIFE BLOG! It's like Talk radio- without the radio! Move on.
My God what is it with these Damien dads? 99.999% are decent and polite but hell - harping on my kids! Most of you know Zachary and Matthew do they deserve this no matter how annoying you believe I am? Really THEY deserve this?
What's the point? To what end? Until they come home and WANT to leave? I've heard of scarlet letters but this is way overboard. Would that make you happy? You have been on my ass for a while, long enough don't you think? Yet I came clean and said who I was. Aram and other's asked "us" to chill out and still the BS. Leave my kids out of it if you KNOW them then you know they don't deserve this. In your mind maybe I do but do they, really?
My kids will leave Damien when Zachary graduates or wants to leave. Plain and simple. He'll play whatever sport and join whatever club he wishes. Whether you god dam like it or not! He's the nicest kid and you acknowledged that but you still have to embarass him, opps I'm embarassing him but you're doing what, standing by innocently? Talk about getting a life!
Kick another rock and MOVE ON! Deal with it, Mr. Eddie Gomez and who ever else feels the need to cleanse their palet with my kids, that's unforgiveable!
Your son know it's you, Gomez, that's going up side my head? My son, Zachary, doesn't know anything about this or you and I intend to keep it that way. He has a great "soul", apparently in spite of me, and loves his friends at Damien. He plays football to make friends. He is the quentissential "gentle man."
You can ask Coach Jan, Coach Eric,Coach Fred, Coach Pucci, Coach Hernandez, Coach Thompson, Coach Brewster, Coach Aaron any coach at Damien if I EVER kissed their ass (your words) or Talked to them about Zachary's playing time. IN TWO YEARS!!
What more do you want from Zachary--He'll hand over his pads to you if that'll make you happy. Anyone else want my son's jersey? How about his cleats? Anyone want his cleats? How about his sense of just being one of the other happy go lucky Damien Kids ? Anyone want to take that from him as well. Matthew knows about this and said it best, "Well, whata you gonna do? What's for dinner?" MOVE ON.
Making the sons pay for the sins of the father is unredeemable! I read that somewhere.
How pathetic is it that in a Catholic Community like Damien only one parent wrote that the blogger (Mr. Gomez) should leave my kids out of it! One! Misjudged that one! Best wishes to the E. family you have always made me feel welcomed, hope I helped more than I hurt. Seen and heard the last of me @ Damien. Matthew and Zachary, however, will graduate from Damien because that's their choice! Inspite of Mr. Gomez and his anonymous stoners! Leave the rock on the floor it's over. MOVE ON!!!! I HAVE.
Anti-
I wasn't taking your statement as an attack on him, I just wanted to straighten the record about Fair at Wilson. Let's put it this way, the year before he got all his transfers from Amat, the guy who succeeded Fair went 2-7-1 with a team that was 10-0 as Freshmen and 9-1 as Sophmores.
As for recognition, I'm pretty sure he doesn't look for it anymore. That's why he hasn't gone after any other head coaching positions (despite being offered at least one)... he enjoys being the master tactician and teaching the kids to play football, but detests dealing with parents, administrators, boosters, and other "PR" work. So being paired up with Gano (who himself has a knack for that sort of thing, and has called a pretty mean offense in some big games to boot) is somewhat ideal.
Should be interesting to see what he does against Damien this week... it's one of the games last year that he takes the blame for and would like to have back (the 3 lineman defense he tried to accomidate for his lack of defensive ends blew up in his face that week).
Jhykron,
My bad man, i think i came off wrong there with my statement of Fair. What i was trying to say was now, since him and Gano have paired up at LA, i do not think he gets enough recognition. I know, I know the heat goes to the head coach when there losing and the accolades to the head coach when their winning. But fair should in fact be rocognized. Some would say around LA that he is kinda the "man behind the wonderful wizard of OZ"...
My best memory of Fair was that masterful job he did in the '03 championship against Orange Lutheran. That team was averaging around 40-45 points a game and he held them to 17 in that game. Yes he had talent, but so did Lutheran that year, and to hold that offense with its shifts and motions and misdirection to only 17 points was awesome. (LA won 21-17)
again, just my 2 cents....
Mr. Corona,
The amount of time you waste on "coaching" us is funny to say the least. You claim to have a life, yet from what my kids say, you post on here nightly. I had to check you out for myself after meeting you after a Freshman practice last year. I'm surprised we all fit in your world next to your ego. I just have one question for you...if your so disgruntled about Damien, why is your son still here? You know no matter how much you try you will never get a job here. Move on with your son and take over another Home Stand where you can bark and fart and point and dismantle every play and every coach. At the end of the day sir, it just sound like bitter grapes. As for being asked by Thompson to coach, need we look any further at what type of coach you could possibly be. I mean we all saw how much butt kissing it took for you to get in his graces (and your kid still didn't play) but boy, your lips must be sore. Enjoy the rest of your season, at least your son has a uniform.
Anyone know what's going on with Gaisie?
Aram,
Despite the negative comments about Amat, there are some players who deserve your attention for the future. You mentioned in your earlier comments that you like to give exposure to area players. Amat does have JR.'s who have made an impact so far. Jr. 5-11 Wr/CB D. Wells stands out first and he will be one of the top players in the area in the future. Jr's TE/DE #81 J. Silva and OT/DT #79 D.Austin are two way players who deserve some credit and some attention for the next two years. #79 6-5 D.Austin impact on the team has gone unnoticed because of his position as a linemen. Also, keep an eye of Jr OT 6-4 #65 S.Ochoa who has done a solid job which has kept Amat's running game alive.
I will continue to support the Amat program and support any player in the area from other teams who have a chance to get an education by playing football in college. The entire SGV will get some Respect. Keep the scouts in the area!
Dude Mills, I'm a Lancer, an old one but a Lancer. And I find that Aram is pretty neutral and calls the shots as he sees them. I mean, the journo (got this word from Green Street Hooligans!) straight up said that he would be shocked if Amat beat Valencia. "Shocked? WUT HE MEAN SHOCKED!?" I cursed into the heavens with fist of fire! BUT...WELL...he was right! Amat got nuked and so did my heart. And I did hate Aram for 24 hours. But then I got over it and we be cool now. (*adds unscented clear liquid poison to Aram's bowl of dates*) So Mr. Mills...you be cool too and dont be a foo. Cill! DA Cougars!
Bluorca, what does the times know?
What I know is that it is going to be an uphill battle for the Lancers. However, if there is a team with heart and dedication, it is the Lancer squad (now only if we could get a defense to go with the heart and dedication).
Once again, if The coaching staff does not panic and continues to build each week, the team will be just fine. Keep hope alive! And a few advils would not hurt either.
I'm sure you'll find many Amat supporters who disagree with that statement.
Aram, why do you protect Amat at all costs? For being a journalist, you sure do appear to be one-sided.
Anti,
Keep in mind, it's amazing how smart a coach can look when he has talent, and how dumb he looks when he has almost nothing to work with. Fair managed to get to the playoffs with those "horrible" teams, which was an accomplishment in and of itself.
hey John & Jenny Craig,
seems you two have the Los Altos background and info to weigh in on this, but i do in fact hear a huge reason for the success of LA and Gano is the fact he has a stellar defensive coordinator over there in Lee Fair. Now i am not taking anything away from Gano, but would you give some of the credit to Fair? Im not even sure opf that one, because from what i can recall Fair use to coach at HH Wilson in the early 90's, and from what i remember, they were horrible.
Just looking for some input, if any....
Thanks...
Funny how people use the same phrases over and over. So many times in fact that when we hear them we immediately remember just them. Like Mr. Corona from an adult? Mr. Silva mentions that to me all the time- call me Steve! My name is Steve! lol The only adult that calls me Mr. Corona is an employee and one other person- Wouldn't you know it, he also uses the phrase, "Knows absolutely nothing about football", knows first hand the workings @ AMAT, (Posted 9/16/2006 4:43 pm) see you responded to DHS Dad before you knew it was me, funny your Number's on my cell phone, your son worked out with S., and you always talked about Amat this way, "they're NUTS, The people there are never satisfied. The program is run down. They'll only hire a young guy because no one would want that job! Because they're NUT CASES" Is that why you left? Clubbing me with Matt and Zac is low! Even for you. I don't remember ever saying any thing bad about your son.
Tendencies, tendencies, tendencies see we all have them. Coaches exploit them, you coached once right?
See what gave you away was the unemployment comment where did that come from?. See no one else at Damien is unemployed, homeboy! See you just popped into my head without having to think about you! By the way, you still a statistic? See people in IOWA don't know what a NANA is but people in LP do!
It's all in good fun guys. Good luck against CO!
Hey X S H PLAYA
Its nice to see someone here who see's it as it is. Keep it up !
Hey,hey, hey easy there Jeff before some "Bagpiper" who doesn't have a sense of humor goes Chernobyl on you about the dress comments.
There Kilts, Laddie....Kilts not dresses. Nice dig though!
Good Night Now!!!!
Answer Man,
I think that most of us know what a Tartan is. I just love the question, "What is a Tartan?" because Glendora people have to face up to the fact that their mascot is a plaid dress. :)
Good luck against CO this week! I hope you give them hell!
Answer Man.........that was Clutch! Who Knew?
TY Corona! If there's anything that Amat grads have trouble doing is shutting up! haha! And yeah! That whole body paint thing did not come out the way I intended it to! LOL!
I think we will definitely see how Amat's program is really doing this year within the next few weeks. I dont know if anyone knows this but Rancho Cucamonga is playing Amat this week and then West Covina the next. They are also playing South Hills and Claremont later in the year. Los Altos and Amat have a common opponent in St. Francis this year as well. I think the results of these games will paint a perfect picture on exactly where Amat stands and where Amat should be rated in the Valley. Believe me, EVERYONE at Amat and the rest of the Valley is going to watch these games very carefully. Because of this, the Amat/Rancho Cucamonga game is a HUGE deal! And from what I've heard, Rancho is no pushover school. And Amat fans, if Amat loses any of these games and the other Valley teams beat the same team, we will never hear the end of it! Oh well, let them eat their cake if this happens. I know this is a tough year for the Amat program. I believe now that Coach Verti is probably more concerned and excited about the next 2 years which is why he's starting so many underclassmen. I just hope he's not using this year as a "preseason" for the next. And I know that if any Valley team could beat Amat it probably would have been this year but I HATE THE TASTE OF HUMBLE PIE!!!
*sigh* Crespi (LAT #18) got more scary last week. They lost by only 2 pts to Corono Centennial. Centennial managed to beat Shane Vereen and Valencia. Given this new info, I would say that Amat is the underdog vs. Crespi.
As far as the playoffs are concerned, and according to the LAT, 13 out of the top 25 schools are from the Pac-5...YIKES! OVER HALF!!! These include 3 from Amat's League!...Crespi (#18), Loyola (#24 after loss to #20 Venice), and last but not least, Notre Dame (#6). Carson is tied w/ Crespi at the #18 spot. St. Francis has been sort of a sleeping giant as well.
I have my ibuprofen ready....Bring it on!!!
Aram,
All I have to say about lil' sisters comment to you about "Cardinal Roger's Mafia Family" at Amat......................SMACK! Nice sis, keeping the scribe in check!!!
Can't we all get along!! And, if not, how about discussing your differences via email vs posting on this prep sports blog... the kids don't need to hear your garbage!
I'm not taking anything wrong about Greg. I know you didn't mean any harm. I was just trying to clear up some info. for you. Greg might have been mentioned. He was coaching at Northview at the time. The talk around campus was the Rick Freeze or Ray Dean was going to get the job because they had been around for so long. People on campus were very surprised when Gano got the job. I believe that he would do a good job at whatever school or level of competition he was competing at because he is a winner.
To the parent who speaks for all of us. You don't speak for me or my husband. You should be ashamed of yourself! You may not like Frank personally but the vile you spewed is reprehensible, disgusting and unfair to his sons Zachary and Matt. How can you call yourself a Christian and behave in such a deplorable and disgusting manner. Think before you write and try speaking for yourself. Frank is our friend and so are you, remember that.
Thats too bad Aram. ...But if you cannot be turned to the Dark Side then perhaps your sister will! Muahahahaha! Regardless...We still want our free brew!!!
bluorca,
I hear you, not sure if he has the guts to come out of the closet (hahaha)
Aram, come on out to the blue side.
Aram
You are absolutely right! With friends like that who needs enemies? lol Great blog, hope you enjoy the AMAT initiation. But I have one question ? Why does the the blue/gold paint need to be edible? LMAO Didn't think about that did you Bluorca? LOL
ARAM: If you make a list of best bloggers Bluorca would be #1. He always has something to say that I enjoy reading and usually ends it with "Come on over to AMAT, we'll be waiting for you" lines. He gives credit where credit is due and knows how to disagree. Great passion for AMAT/Football and knows what he's talking about, Mike's #2 because he knows the deal and loves GT, even if he's a clone, lol For me the pissing contest is over- thanks for the pulpit!
Aram, Welcome to the Family. You look good in Blue and Gold.
As for Amat this year, if coach Verti does not panic, the team should be ok. I think some of you have forgotten one thing, Amat only needs to win two games this year to get into the playoffs. With the new league only having 4 teams, 2 wins and your in. Amat will beat Loyola again, and handle Crespi. Amat will have an up hill battle in the playoffs however, it will still be a good season as well as developing the players for next season. Heck, if Amat can post a 3 win season, they will be league champs.
Yes, you are right, I hate the new league. Maybe damien or St. Paul will step up and join the league. On second thought, neither of those schools has the "footBALLS" to come to D1 with the big boys.
Lastely, Amat does not want Gano. Gano does not have the stomach or heart for D1 football. He too looks up to the Amat program. Always has and Always will.
Bluorca and all Amat honks:
Here's a conversation I had with my sister Liz while driving home late on Friday night
Liz: What game did you cover?
Aram: Bishop Amat vs. Hart.
Liz: Did Amat win?
Aram: No, they got killed.
Liz: I'm sorry, bro.
Aram: Why are you sorry?
Liz: Because I thought Amat is your team.
Aram: What are you talking about? I don't have a team.
Liz: Yeah, but you always cover Amat.
Aram: I am not going to hear this from you, too.
Liz: I'm sorry, I just thought you liked that team.
Unreal, I get it from my sister!
About joining the Amat family - not gonna happen. But due to the big and well deserved coverage the girls hoops team gets in the Trib, guys at the office have said there's got to a a Touchdown Aram statue somewhere at Amat.
Mr. Corona and friends - you guys are getting off topic. Chill out.
Couldn't leave it alone could you? Man, how insecure are you? Maybe I'll go to a practice this week or a game and watch you play the part, come up to me and say something clever like, "Man, Frank did you read the post thing? I hope you find out who said those horrible things. If you need aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyy help, I'll do what I can." And then you'll giggle like you hit the lotto. Seems to me you've spent alot of time near me to hear me talk sooooooo much, why? Seriuosly...why?
I HEAR YA JOHN!!! And if Aram does indeed want in on the Amat Family that he must first be dipped head first in Royal Blue/Gold swirled edible body paint, dressed in a genuine suit of armor complete with a heavy lance, and mounted on top of a white battle horse. He then must ride 4 complete laps around Kiefer Stadium right before a game to the cheers of the Amat faithful. And then comes the most crucial part of Aram's initiation...he then must buy all of us Amat bloggers a beer! It must be imported and at least 32oz in size. Only then will he be deemed worthy!
To our other boys in blue...Way To Go Dodgers!!!!
WOW,
And yet another alias! Some guys, usually the drunk at the end of the bar, never know when to stop. And arguing with a drunk is about what this is becoming. Posting LA 38 Damien 0, nice try smells like fear.I'll just follow the piss trail you're leaving. Get a job, unemployment has given you too much free time. Never seen Freddie Brown play, never seen Ian Johnson play and Turner never talked to the WP advocate. As far as I see being an ass is what you do best. Now go change your pants before hanging out at practice I think I smell crap!
There is no disrespect towards Gano, he has done a great job, you are taking it all wrong. He was a coach with experience and it showed from the start. Gongrats to him on the 100 win milestone. This is a milestone that all coaches and schools want from their coach. And he was mentioned for the job ahead of time!!!!
I just wish Amat was able to lure him away, he would have been a great fit and it would have been interesting to see how he handled the D-1 competition.
Here is one definition of a Tartan from www.tartans.scotland.net:
Tartans have become synonymous with Scotland and Scottish clans and families in particular. However, tartans were originally a style of cloth intended to be decorative. They had patterns that were popular within certain districts of manufacture, they relied on a limited range of colour dyes and were made of the local coarser type of wool.
This has lead to the idea of district tartans being the original association, between the land, the community and its cloth. Where there was a strong clan within a district, as was often the case in the highlands, then visitors from other areas might well have been recognised as of a clan from their tartan. This must have been true of visitors from the Western Isles, for instance. It is this concept of clan tartans that today predominates, but the use of tartan is yet richer.
When tartan was proscribed by law, the Government or Black Watch pattern was the only legally one. This was used by the regiments raised within Scotland, forming the basis of the regimental tartans.
By the early 1800s, it was realised that the knowledge of tartans before the ´45 was being lost and, simultaneously, there was a romantic movement concerning Scotland's past. This lead to institutional and individual efforts to preserve tartan designs. Tartans were reconstructed from portraits, collected on pilgrimages, demanded from clan chiefs and recovered from weaver's notes.
Tartans became a backdrop. The weaving and tailoring industries were especially boosted by the visit to Edinburgh of George IV in 1822 and by Sir Walter Scott's statement, as the visit's manager, "Let every man wear his tartan". Queen Victoria gave considerable encouragement thereafter, though this encouraged both fantasy and fact in the study of tartan. (Some royal tartans remain the preserve of the House of Windsor or individual titles within it, just as clan chiefs sometimes have a chief's tartan.)
The significance of tartan as national dress, worn under various circumstances, created clan tartans for every "name", even those that previously had none. These were often supplemented by hunting tartans of subdued character and dress tartans which were brighter.
Further variety was added by fashion, fancy or trade tartans to fill any niche, including various colours of a single pattern. Dancing Tartans originate from the ARISAID or Dress Tartans. There were even some mourning tartans developed.
In recent years the corporate tartans have become popular where an institution or company adopts a tartan design for livery and use in merchandising.
Where no clan tartan exists, families can and have developed new Family Tartans. Generally which tartan is worn is controlled by convention there not being a statute for its government. Disputes as to its use and production rely on the civil law of Copyright, Design Act and in rare cases Patents/Trademarks.
Manufacturers often offer a given tartan design in a variety of colour effects, called Modern, Reproduction, Ancient and the like. An ancient and a modern tartan is often the same pattern and should not be confused when the design is being considered.
Ian Johnson, Freddie Brown, Tristan Turner and all other Damien athletes would like to thank Mr Corona for getting them where they are today, despite their coaches.
The back to back CIF soccer team would also like to thank him for helping them win despite their coaches.
It is too bad that hard work by all of the athletes mentioned didn't matter, just the guy who did everything for them, despite their coaches.
Can you imagine if a real coach came on here and posted what he has done for every kid he has ever worked with?
Prediction for this week:
Los Altos 38
Damien 0
Without our leader in the stands we have no chance.
Gano was NOT a sure thing to get that job back in 1995. there were two on staff coaches that left because they didn't get the job. Gano came out of left field to get that job. He has done a great job, but many people were not happy when he got that job. Just clearly up mis-stated facts. Greg has done a GREAT job at LA.
bluorca, amatwillshine, bleedsblue, luvthisgame, sdlancer, amat pal, Coach Verti and staff
We are all family, and I think Aram is getting a taste of the family and I think he wants in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the blogs, keep it up. As for Charter Oak and Damien being the top teams in the valley. Why did they cancel their contracts with Amat this year. The answer, Butt Kicking two years in a row.
Some do not realize that Amat has such a tradition that excellence is required and we are the only D-1 school in the valley and year after year we go after some of the top teams in the state, who else in the valley can say that. IF YOUR SON IS A JAA OR POP WARNER STUD LOOK AT ALL THE TEAMS IN THE VALLEY AND MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION. You must ask yourself, where will my son get the most exposure, look at the list of Lancers playing college ball and look at the rest, No comparisson. Some schools may have a kid here or there and they ride the coat tail of that one or two, we don't, our record speaks for itself.
Amat alumni and boosters wear their hearts and emotions on our sleeves, that is why we are so critical and voice our opinions the way they do. Some may be opinions and some may be factual. THE ONE FACT THAT STANDS OUT, WE ARE FAMILY. If you look at the blogs, after the bashing comes the encouragement geared toward the team and that is a given
Aram,
The door is open, if you want in the family come on in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lancers, Work hard and give 110%, whatever you hear in the stands is not geared towards you. Coach Verti and staff, pick it up, you are the coaches of the top program in the valley and that can be disputed only if the other schools step up and knock you off ( this has not been done). I do not care what the polls say even in a down year Amat is still top. As for W. Covina standing up to Mater Dei, great job going after them. But we must remember that is the same team that Amat spanked last year. Now stand up against Amat and make it happen. As for a game with the local power houses of W. Covina and LA, I say it again it would be great for the valley as well as any high school football fan. Lets make it happen.
Anti17,
Thanks for clearing that up, I do remember when he got the job that he was in the waiting for it for a while and he was waiting for DeSpain to step down, it was agiven that he would get the job.
GetReal- the beauty in hiding behind a name is that people can't tell you you don't speak for them. Or call you on anything you've said to them that paints you in a less than positive light. Sooner or later you'll brag to someone that you put me in my place, hope it isn't someone who's kid I helped. Or if you're a hypocrite and worked out over the summer with us or tried to schedule a workout with Surge. You use "we" alot. All that tells me is that you're a coward. You talk alot about the fact that "I KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL" which tells me you NEVER played football. Boy that whispering nana statement really got under YOUR maternal skin. And I wasn't talking about you? Been called a NANA before? Maybe in school? How about a friendly game of ping pong? I've got the paddles if you've got the balls, for real...dogg!( Do adults use the word Dogg) I KNOW you felt that! woof woof
O.K. Mr Corona LETS KEEP IT REAL!!! You are right you have great kids. Its too bad you are EMBARASSING them and you have NO CLUE that you are. Lets keep it real EVERYONE at Damien thinks you're an idiot!! AND YOU HAVE NO CLUE!!! We the parents in the stands are tired of hearing you. You are right you are entitled to your opinion BUT KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!! We are tired of hearing your loud mouth opinion after every single play!!! Like you know what your talking about!!! LET US WATCH THE GAMES IN PEACE!! I mean come on man you use 2 names on this blog and you have conversations with yourself????? Think about that!!!! Your a nut with no life!!! Do you talk to yourself while driving in your car or at home alone???? NUT CASE!!! THATS MY OPINION!!!! Your not a whispering NANA??? Man you have been on here for months hiding behind your aliases and now you get called out and you wanna play the tough guy role?? WHISPERING NANA!!! THATS MY OPINION!!! I'll tell you what dogg from now on we will call you LOMBARDI since you think you know EVERTHING!!! BUT THATS MY OPINION!!! IS THIS REAL ENOUGH FOR YOU??!!??!!
By the way, every time you Amat Alumni and supposed supporters bash your own school, it makes it less likely that the next crop of Jr. All-American stars will want to enroll there, thereby making it even less likely that the proud program will return to dominance. If there is a problem, address it quietly.
Go 'Cats!
on friday nights at south hills...straiger worked the clock and wingate just charted plays...id say about 80 percent of the husky studs skipped jv...wingate straiger=very cool people off the field...please stop this madness! you cant be 10-0 every year
what brought down gabrielino in the 0-30 shutout to SR? was it the linemen not being able to hold off the offense period?
on another note: the 9-7 win over san marino titans looks a solid point on their resum'e' bcuz SM followed up with an overtime FG upset of La Salle 17-14;
and;
how does el monte look?
brian johnson is doing a great job with the freshman, your right. but how can you say that the he had input and that the JV coaches had none? no one said that thier staff wasn't doing a 'fine job'. but, if they want to repeat the sucess they have had in the past their staff has to do much better than fine (which is what they were with Ryan, Wingate and Straiger). not only did they lose those choaches but they lost varsity coaches that they had to put there to replace them. doing a fine job is apparenlty not getting the job done, especially if they lost to la habra, the team that they beat 5 years ago in the CIF champtionship game. All I am saying is that the slight decline in the program has less to do with the players, and more to do with the loss of key coaches. i have no doubt that the huskies will bounce back, but to think they will dominate thier CIF division as they have in the past is a little lofty.
All I can say to you Bluorca is:
Thank God we are not Family
bluorca ur funny.
amatwillshine- Coaches, at least real coaches, don't read blogs! They know what they have to do and that's concentrate on their team and the next week's opponent. That's it! Look at Dorrell @ UCLA they were calling for his head for being inexperienced and lacking this or that, and he went 10-2 last year! Real Coaches have thick skin and KNOW it comes with the territory, or at least will have to learn it comes with the job. How many Engish/Math teachers get grilled like that! The only way coaches find out about blog statements are thru whispering nanas. You know the ones that bend the ears of head coaches to their advantage and then "blog" in the stands. That way there's no record! tisk tisk tisk Play nice! lol It never bothered me when players parents complained about this or that because I was too busy coaching. I saw them for what they were- Parents who loved their kids and wanted, more than anything, to help their son. At least that's the why I was taught to look at it, but what do I know , I don't have a life! Go Catholic School Ballers -Damien,Mater Dei, Loyola, St. John Bosco, Salesian, and yes even, Cantwell and Cathedral! Brotherhood Bond For Life!
true sh fan your way off!...there a young team and there staff is doin a fine job...if im playing or coaching in this valley i wouldnt want to see them after week 7...the jv program has had about 0 to do with there sucess look 1 level lower and freshman coach brian johnson hes put together 3 ouuta 5 leage championship teams...huskies will bounce back and secure 2nd in there league
I haven't seen Mark Mendrun play yet but I have known the family since Mark was a young flag player in youth. It's no surprise that this guy has turned out to be a class act. He has two older siblings who are just as polite and respectfully young adults. This is proof positive that children can be raised properly in a society that is filled unsportsmanship conduct and self-centered players. Both of his parents should be proud not only of their child but on the wonderful job they have done raising their family. My hat is off to both of them and with every great comment made about their son; they deserve a pat on the back as well. Thank you to the Mendrun family for making the San Gabriel area just a little better place to live.
WE ARE THE AMAT FAMILY! AND WE ARE MANY! We have earned the right to write about OUR family anyway we wish. We love OUR players but we are their biggest critics as well. To think that this blog or any media has a negative impact on the players or coaches is absolutely ridiculous. Amat players play againts some of the top teams in the nation year after year. What do they care about anonymous scratchings on some SGV blog? (sorry Aram, this blog rocks!) We expect only the best from both player and coach. This is what it means to play at Bishop Amat. If you are not the type of person to give 150% on and off the field, do not apply to become part of this family. If something is wrong with OUR family then we will voice it. Amat players play at a level that few SGV teams have only tasted here and there. We want OUR young brothers in royal blue/gold to do well and if something like politics or $$$ get in the way of OUR brother's success, I believe we have a responsibility to voice our concerns. And if you are paying attention you will see that OUR critism of OUR players is always followed by words of support and love.
CO BRO...you are right...you and others know nothing about Amat tradition or what is expected from the Amat football program. It is because of OUR tradition and OUR commitment to challenge our youth and staff that Amat smashed Charter Oak 62-7 over the past 2 years. Now be nice and mind your business before we alumni make sure that Amat plays Charter Oak next year!
So, many of you people commenting on South Hills really don't know what is going on with that program at all. Bogan is a GREAT head coach, but he is only as good as his supporting cast. When did SH win thier first CIF Ring? When a gentleman name Mike Ryan came onto staff and the O and D lines started dominating. If you win in the trenches you win in the scoreboard. They also had some very dedicated JV coaches that put a lot of time in throughout the program. The JV was the foundation of learning for many future Varsity kids, and coaches Wingate and Straiger created a sound foundation. None of these three coaches returned to coach this year. South Hills did not name a JV coach until 2 weeks before the season started, and in order to do that they had to shuffle thier varsity staff to accomidate. I understand that the new line coach is great, but great falls very short of what Coach Ryan did for that program. Bogan had a winnig program for years before Ryan came, but always had that missing piece to finally get that championship. Ryan brought that missing piece and took that program above and beyond Bogan's highest expectations. The talent at South Hills is young, and will get better as the year goes on. And the staff will gel a lot better, and become a stronger unit. Unfortunatly I feel that SH will never again attain the excellence it had over the past 6 years (since 2001). In a better division, and with the rest of the leauge becoming stronger each year, the dominance of SH is slowly declining. Coach Ryan was the guy behind the championships, and without him I am afraid they will never recieve another one.
Aside from Damien's obvious dominance in the game vs. Claremont this past Friday, the lack of basic fundamentals from Claremont (Aram's pick vs. Damien) was there for all to see.
Earier in the week, the Daily Bulletin ran some "luff" piece about Claremont's football team not being allowed to cuss. That may be all well and good, but they showed their lack of sportsmanship in several other ways. How about DBs "popping-off" even after they got burned--several times.
They may not cuss, but their pre-occupation with jawing at the opponents, seems to diminish their ability to do what their first responsibilities dictate, play the game.
The referees' actually ALLOWED Claremont to run their offense with REPEATED illegal motion, and offensive line movement before the snap of the the ball---ALL night long. What was that about?
The game took about 1 hour 20 minutes too long because of the poor officiating during the game.
Poor officiating, in conjunction with a poorly coached Claremont team, and the stands (on the Claremont side) were dwindling throughout the second half.
With a poorly coached like this, how has Collins been able to last so long at CHS?
At the Glendora game last Friday was it just me or were the Glendora fans full of fried funnel cake and corn dogs from a day at the fair? Man it was deathly quiet most of the game until the end of the third quarter.
An officiating, my god! Hey “little troll yes you the one assuming the backfield judge position. blow the whistle like a man instead of like Aunt Martha’s pet parakeet. And Mr. Head official, take your Geritol next time. Gezz talk about watching FOX TV’s “slo-mo, Man you were living it on that field I wanted to take a nap between each time you set the ball back into play. Oh and by the way game time is 7:00 not fifteen minutes after the hour.
The “bagpipers defense looked good and the running game was ok, and I say “ok only because when we go up against teams that don’t have a lot of guys going both ways will we sustain it. The passing game, well, what are going to do when your receivers aren’t running the right patterns?
And one more thing on the offense, Edmonds needs to learn to complete the long runs and quit “juking at the end. Two times in the last two games he tried to be Reggie Bush and “juke when all he needed to do to get to the end zone was keep running. Edmonds your not Reggie Bush, so stop it already you cost yourself two touchdowns already this season and we can’t afford you not to get into the end zone Your faster than a Coors light silver bullet, quit trying to be cute at the end and finish it off, you deserve to be in the end zone when you break those biggies.
Oh hey #73 & #78 for Duarte, Props to you both you two kids are studs. You played your heart out and never quit. It did not go un-notice with this Tartan homer. Again props!
This week should be interesting and will be a real test to see where us “Bagpipers are compared to everybody else. It will finally be nice to be home at Citrus and actually have a program for once to tell who’s who for a change
Good night now!
Where does Maxpreps get their personal stats (i.e. tackles, sacks, rushing, etc,)? They are sooooooooooo wrong it isn't funny.
Let's just hope Verti reads these blogs. Not that it will do any good! I was completely disgusted when I saw #5 Gamez playing fullback, linebacker (getting beat badly), PAT, AND kick off return. Poor Gamez...he's only doing what he's told. This is just an example of the poor decisions Verti makes.
Hey John,
just to clear things up, Gano never was an assistant on any of Despain's teams over at Los Altos. He actually coached, i think, 2 years at Northview back in the day before getting the Los Altos Job when Despain retired. And if i recall, he was the head baseball coach at HH Wilson for a few years prior to making the move over to football. (and from what i hear, he was a very very good baseball coach as well)
Just a lil FYI...
SD-Lancer...whatever bro, read what Joe said. Maybe it's just us CO, SH, Glen., L.A., Covina, Damien...etc fans don't air out our "Dirty Laundry" in public. Maybe we might have some of the same feelings about our programs that all you Amat fans love to tell others about and we choose to keep our mouths shut. I know this site is for fans to give there opinions and WE ALL know how Amat fans feel! But do you really think bashing the Head Coach or the Monsignor is good for your program or the players who read this? What are these posts doing to the moral of the players? Don’t you think the Coaches have a hard enough time trying field a competitive team in Div. 1 without also having to be constantly BASHED by the parents and the alumni who post here? I know what you will all say to that…its part of the job, if he can’t take the heat then leave. Maybe it’s just me but if I had to read everyday about how bad I am at my job I don’t think I would be able to improve. My morale would be so shot that I would be unable to do my job effectively.
Not to mention the people who work under me (players) who can see what is being said, they probably would lose any kind of confidence they had in me. But we are not like you SD, we know nothing of tradition like Amat fans. We choose to let the players and coaching staff do the talking. Good or Bad we are CO!
SD-Lancer...whatever bro, read what joe said.
So Verti is sarting only three seniors on defense? He is starting quite a few sophs on defense also. Where are the juniors? It seems that Verti is giving up on them all together. The sophs were getting their butts kicked out there. One of the linebackers was pulled after a few times out. On Harts last score, the free saftey is limping on the field from the previous play and no one sees this one the sidelines. Are they blind or what? Inexperience? Sure so put some experience on the field, there's plenty on the bench. These guys just couldn't tackle, plain and simple.
Verti is not giving everyone a look. He is sticking with his "picks" because that is what he wants, at any cost. Might as well put the second string in, they couldn't do any worse. I got the feeling this is going to be long apinful season.
St Jude, pray for us.
Damien 74,
You ask "What is a Tartan"? Its the first thing your QB sees when he opens his eyes after being sacked.
Hey bankers hours,
your right, amat is paying the minimum salary schedule. Msgr. Carroll is about the money, that is his job now at Amat. He needs to pay more attention who pays for the majority of the other sports programs in the school. Yes the football program finances all the other programs, when the going is good at Amat and they are bringing in 6000-7000 fans for a good game and at leats 1/2 are not student body than the gate will bring in $18000.00. I know that the gate is split between the schools but when the tickets are sold as presale Amat keeps the entire amount. This is not to mention the the consessions which bring in an enormous amount of money. And the true Amat fans can remember the stadium filled to the brink with an estimated 11000 fans. Now that is big money and we need to adjust the salary schedule.
As for Amat Pal,
Msgr. Carroll has become Msgr. Money, Creative financing is what has made the rich and successful but he is not willing to do this. Msgr. Carroll wants to pay the archdiocee the money on a yearly bases. I recently read an article that he was happy because of the parent pledge program an estimated dollar amount was say $290,000.00 so he was happy that he could pay the $270,000.00 owed this year. The numbers are just facticious but there was a difference there. If the loan payment is reached through the family pledge than what does the money from the golf tournament go to. This tournament brings in an estimated $25,000.00 + anually to the program. As for the facility, it is beautiful but where is the Alma Mater. I was told that this was brought up but Msgr. Carroll does not want it on the wall and he was to have said that it wasn't on the wall of the old gym. Now that is a false statement, it was. This was brough up on numerous occasions by alumni but were shot down by the Msgr. Maybe this is why the alumni are not as generous as some might think.
Go Lancer Blue, this too will pass. As for this years footbell team, I am still pretty sure that they could play with and beat the top ten teams in the valley.
Not bashing the Damien Football program any more than making my obserbvations. Just Like I said Mendrun's the best player,or Taylor's the real deal,or recruiters should take another look at Travis, or we're better off with a 4 man line (see it @ Claremont) or whatever else I guess that offends you, but just like anyone else that's MY opinion. And isn't this a BLOG? Like I make them about Amat or any other school. If you read this BLOG then you know I'm not the only one who comments.(read-Glendora, SH, Amat ect.)Did not know that I had to get your permission or tow the company line. Maybe that's the way you see it but I don't. And I think I'm entitled to my opinion. Long winded and offensive as you may find it. Just like all the other Dads that "comment" at practice or the games.( You see them in lawn chairs or up against the fence talking under their breath and then smiling in the coaches faces. In fact the phrase "musings" came from a couple of JV dads. No,their boys start so their goes the disgruntled angle.
And No I did not "want to get hired"(and secretly hold a grudge, laughable) but yes I was asked last year by Thompson to help because,"the other coaches were undermining him" and scouted the team at the Amat freshmen game. ( So get your facts straight) Remember that Saturday game? That's when the coaches had to be separated by players because they were threatening to fight in front of the kids on the field and in the bus. Isn't that why Hernandez QUIT? Did I have something to do with that as well? Or is that off limits to talk about?
When there were only two coaches on the JV staff during Spring Ball I asked Morrison if he needed help and he said he had coaches on the way. Nothing more. Maybe "knowing nothing about football" means I don't agree with you. That's rich but there again I know this, "If kids need help I've put them in contact with people or resources that could help THEM." Those who have benefitted from Speed/Agilty Training or Football Camps, ect know who you are and can vouch that I put them in touch with OTHER people who helped them get faster, stronger, better and quicker. I didn't secretly train them myself.(I'll leave out the names so you won't find fault in them as well, but it's no less than 12 players) And every one of those kids improved, maybe I didn't ask your son?
When I put DHS Dad that's because that's who I am first and foremost.(Matthew's a senior and won the Spartan Award as a JV Soph in basketball and Zachary a soph. is one of the strongest/nicest/friendliest kid you'll ever meet.) But you already knew that! When I put Keeping it Real that's my football observations plain and simple. If you read other people's opinions you'd see most people agreed with my observations, but let's not talk about that!
From now on I'll put Mr. Corona either way. So you know I'll stand by what I say. No whispering NANA here, feel me? Maybe you can return the favor.
I'm just glad this BLOG wasn't up when we went 2-8 because the stands had a lot of "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL" dads. I'm sure you saw a lot of ping pong players then. PUT LIPSTICK ON THAT PIG! That football team was loaded! (SIZE, SPEED,EXPERIENCE AND TALENT) Am I wrong?- why am I asking a NANA? Is that Real enough for you!
BISHOP AMAT LANCER VARSITY!!! HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH FOR YOU ARE MIGHTY! ROYAL BLUE AND GOLD ARE THE COLORS OF YOUR ROBES! DO YOU WEAR THEM WITH PRIDE AND HONOR? amatlancerblue needs a life. Stop putting the players down. DA
sd-lancer i know its hard for yu to understand amat is finish its cool ill let yu believe for a couple more weeks.
and johm mclain quit leaving stupid blogs yu dont know what your talking about.
Joe!
A young South Hills football team making too many mistakes is not an excuse, it is the reason they are not 3-0. The reason I listed it in my blog is I figure not everyone who is interested can make it to every game to see for themselves why a team loses. As far as having a tough schedule, We love it ! and it makes are program better. Why do you think WC is doing the same thing now ? GO HUSKIES!
yes what is a tartan
Not sure where video is going this week ... but I am sure you guys will like the coverage. This is going to be a huge Friday night in the SGV!
PAL,
I understand your point perfectly - and you are continuing to help mine.
1st: The fact that Amat must rent the bleachers because of lack of space is more of a reason to make certain that they get enough rear ends in the seats to offset the fixed cost. I'm sure that you can't argue that a winning program has greater attendance. If you don't understand that, continue to go to the games and you will see.
2nd: the reason that we are having this discussion is because visting teams ARE beating Amat, not that the fans won't come because they are losing to Amat
3rd: luvthis game addressed the way that the gym is paid for. Let's hope it happens soon, because I've got a feeling (hope) that it is his "swan song" and he'll retire when it's paid for. Alienating alums because he wants unrestricted funds is another example of his lack of saavy - and he is far from a "people person". He's alienated enough supporters already.
Finally: The Archdiocese has a MINIMUM salary structure. St Paul paid Ancich a sick amount of money and the coach at St Bonaventure (a Catholic school also) must do all right - and he might have been Amat's if the bald guy didn't fumble that one too.
Aram,
you the man again... That game of the week was good (but not as good as the first one you put up) - Give me the touchdowns and if you cant get em, get two cameras, one on each side of the field so I can see everything going on - anyway, that's good video you putting up.. where we going next week? Oh, by the way - get the anouncer guy to talk more - you paying him by the word or something that you don't want him talking too much (lol).
Rob L.
After a day of thinking about it, I remembered something very interesting. Besides the blaming of the different positions, coaches, Msgr. Carrol, and so forth, I started to think about what I saw during one of the camp practices I saw. One of the main things I noticed was that there was about 10-15 players sidelined during the practices. I dont think I have ever seen that many injuries during a camp. I don't know if its poor training or poor trainers, but these athletes did not get the playing experience needed to play aganist Div 1 and 2 schools. I even asked one or two of the guys that didn't have the obvious cast on their arm or leg what was going on. Most of them said they had a headache during a practice and the training staff took them out for 3 days.
Whatever the problem, AMAT needs to get itself together this week for a fired up Rancho Cucamonga...GO LANCERS
SB
I challenge the call that it was blocked at the line of scrimmage. I do not hate refs. It is my opinion this oficiating team did a poor job friday night. They should get the film. Officals have off nights too, and they can learn from film just as coaches and players.
Thanks to a fan for posting the scoring summary.
Mr. Corona or Keeping it real which ever you wanna go by!!!! Quit bashing on the Damien football team. Just because you wanted to coach there and they would not hire you "because you know absolutely nothing about football" does not mean you need to come in here and bash on the Damien kids. Find a good ping pong match next week watch it then find a message board for that then post a message about ping pong that way you will at least know a little bit about what you are talking about. Get a life!!!!
sh is still better then san dimas. they suck.
but south hills sure does suck. they have no one.
JUST WANNA THROW A FEW RANDOM ARGUEMENTS OUT THERE..
1. EVEN IF BISHOP AMAT GOES 5-5 THERE STILL THE # 2 TEAM AT WORST IN THIS VALLEY
2. ROWLAND WILL NOT MAKE IT OUT OF ROUND 1 IN THE PLAYOFFS
3. CHARTER OAK HAS 2 RETURNING DEFENSIVE STARTERS AND HAD NO BUSINESS BEING RANKED PRESEASON #1 ALL THO THEY HAVE A LOT OF TALENT THEY WILL NOT PEAK UNTIL ABOUT WEEK 6 OR 7
4. IF SOUTH HILLS WOULD OF BEEN IN DIV 6 ALL ALONG THEN BOGAN ONLY HAS THE 1 CIF CHAMPIONSHIP
5. GLENDORA AND DAMIEN LOOK VERY STRONG TO START THE YEAR
Agree with you Buck, I saw the Glendora/Duarte game as well. Nice field to watch the play: nearby bathrooms and parking for visitors.
Glendora was off that night at the passing game, running was strong as usuall. Glendora defense was very strong again even with a very enormous Duarte O-line. #71 for Glendora (Kovar?) had several sacks and tackles. Don't know how he broke through the BIG WALL they call Duarte O-line. Glendora #8 (Edmonds?)ran some big yardage and #33 and #32 looked good as well.
Unfortantly, I couldn't get the players names correct as Duarte did not have any programs for sale, at least not on the vistors side.
I liked the Duate QB #13, however, with the line playing both sides, he was less effective when his protection pooped out late in the game.
I was very impressed with Glendora's defense, even though, I heard several key players didn't even play due to injuries prior. No doubt, the Glendora Defense will be a key component to Tartan victories this year. Offensively, thier passing game is going to have to get stronger. I'm looking forward to friday's Glendora/Charter Oak game. This will be a big test for both teams.
I don't believe CO's large 0-line will be much of a factor as Glendora defense has shown in their last two games they are capable of penetrating and making sacks even with the largest size mismatch. Duarte's O-line had to average 6'4" to 6'6" 250 to 350 lbs. #78 of Duarte was the biggest player (towered over the field, probally 6'6" at least from my vantage point).
The question will be can Glendora's passing game improve to the level of their running game by Friday? Can CO defensive game stepup their level of play to stop Glendora's running attack?
I'm predicting a low scoring game with an edge towards Glendora.
AMATs current troubles are the fault and responsibility of Monsignor Carroll and the current football coaching staff.
Carroll is at fault for making the choice to hire an inexeperienced Head Coach, who in turn assembled a inexperienced staff to assist him. I have read the comments attempting to defend Carroll and they are weak at best. The gym cost was mostly funded by large donations and parent contributions outside of tuition. FYI, Carroll has received offers by prominant alumni to rehab Keifer stadium with a new feild and track. This offer was declined because Carroll stipulated that the funds had to come in to the school and be allocated at his discretion. There were other coaching candidates that had more experience and success than Verti and crew. Money was not the determining factor, but they had no ties to AMAT as alumni, etc. A note to Carroll for future, experience trumps school ties.
Back to the coaches being at fault. Aram I agree that that growing pains should be expected, but think back to wheen you when through puberty, you usually saw and experienced some growth in the process of feeling the pain. I was all for giving Coach Verti a chance. But he has not demonstrated that he is learning anything from game to game.
The offense is suffering mainly due to the ineffectiveness of the QB. I think he's been given a fair shot. 3 games, 3 strikes, and your out. If this is a young team and if we all agree there has to be some growing pains, then why not go with 1 of the 2 junior QBs, what the heck, platoon them and see who gets the job done moving forward this year and into next season. They will both still be at AMAT next year. No offense to the current QB, but he will be long gone next year and there are not any athletic shcolarships he is in jeopardy of losing this year.
The Defense is suffering due to the inability of the offense to sustain drives. You have to be able to keep your defense off the field in order for them to stay fresh and compete throughout 4 quarters of football. Also, the field position is an issue due to special teams. Can you not find a consistant long snapper to get the job done. Your not making it hard for the other team's offense when they get the ball near mid field. The secondary is doing the job, but your are making it hard on them with your schemes up front. They are also giving up too much space to the receivers.
Coach Verti, I hope you read this and make the necessary changes before you lose the respect of your players and possibly your position at season's end. Put aside any petty grudges or ego that may exist. Remember these are not just players or student-athletes, but young men whose futures you are molding. Take responsibility and take action.
Watched the Glendora / Duarte game. Duarte kinda gets a bad rap, nice place to watch a game, easy parking, stands close to field, nice people. Give their coaches alot of credit, alot of guys going both ways, they just get worn down. They have a pretty good QB and a huge line. Glendora...well, they are going to have to play alot better than that to beat people. The defence again was impressive. The offence, I am not sure what's going on. Give the QB a chance in passing situations, start him in the shotgun, the O-line is quick for runs not that strong for pass block. Use the hieght advantage that Glendora has at receivers once in awhile. Another thing I just don't understand, how can you adjust and see weaknesses in oppossing defences when you have no coaches up top seeing what's going on. Should be a good game Friday, finally back at Citrus.
These people bashing on SH need to get a clue...Mr. Covina, you should make a list of all the transfer starters that you are talking about. There arent any!!!!!! SH bashing... what gives you the right to say that Bogan is not a good coach, and he just wins because he has talent?...There is no doubt that you need talent to win, but i dare you to get on the white board with that guy. He would embarass you!!..People that dont have any idea about football scheme, or coaching should keep their mouths shut.. SH will be fine this year, and i know theyre not pushing the panic button....As for you very very ignorant people bashing the Amat coaching staff..why dont you sit down with coach V and draw up your defensive game plan that would have beat hart, then go down to the practice introduce it to the defense, and go over all the different option routes they will run, make sure in your defense that the kids are adjusting to motion correctly, and that they know all their rules vs. every set they will come out in..Most people bashing on Amat coaches have no freaking clue on what goes on to get a team prepared, so my advice to you ignorant people...Bring your defensive game plan to coach V, or shut up!!!!
"joe" - Ufortunately the conversation about Amat will never be put to rest this year. Why? Amat is a hot topic and there are more Amat fans on here than anything else. Its that simple. Im not bashing your program, but do you think that Amat fans/alumns want to talk about south hills football or any other sgv program for that matter? I dont think so. If its Amat fans are on the Blog, then its Amat we are going to blog about. So if you dont want to talk about Amat simply dont read it or dont respond, just write about your own program had hope there is another fellow supporter to debate with.
Banker,
You missed my point obviously. But, given that the temporary stands are placed on the running track because there are homes within feet of the stadium, what would you suggest? Buy out all the homes behind Amat? Build a permanent structure that RARELY is full because visiting teams think they are going to lose anyway? That doesnt make sense to me. It's a myth that the football program brings in gobs of money to the school. So in order to pay for that tuition must be increased. Monsignor has a state of the union meeting every year and he discloses the finances of the school. Its open to anyone who wants to attend. And maybe something no one else realizes is that the faculty salaries are controlled by the Los Angeles Archdiocese. The Archdiocese schools have to contend with the fairness of paying faculty at all their schools. Unfortunately how do they pay a coach a six figure salary at one school and half that at another smaller Archdiocese school?

PREP FAN
Do you actually know the rule concerning "roughing the passer?" First of all, that ball was tipped at the line of scrimmage and only the player who actually blocks the ball is granted protection from roughing the kicker.
If you think officials do such a lousy job, why don't you get yourself certified and get on that gridiron instead of badmouthing the officials because of your illinformed preceptions.
Mr. Mendrun,
I was very happy to read that you did not write those comments. You are a class act as well as being the best player in the valley. Your parents must be very proud of your character and accomplishments. Any college recruiter would do well if he were able to sign you come National Letter of Intent Day. Continued success on and off the field. Stay healthy and GO DAMIEN !
lets put amat to rest for a while sometimes i feel like im reading the sgvt of bishop amat.yu are just a average team who is going to have its ups and downs so lets move on.For south hills fans and bashers quit bashing on a program with all those titles if kids transfer to sh its because they want exposer to get to college and they do it by winning and putting stats in the paper and maxprep its more than i can say for a lot of these programs some of these coaches are just lazy asses if they dont do it for there kids any kid has that right to have there stats posted especially when they work there buts off all summer every little bit helps. And for sh hills fans dont make excuses your 0-3 because yu got beat if the sch... is to hard change it next yr and maybe yu well be 3-0,like i said to all these bloggers at the beginnig of the season if yu lose dont make excuses just except it.
AMAT PAL-Have you ever heard of an investment? Do YOU have any idea how much it must cost to rent those rickety portable bleachers that you have to put up every year just to seat the visiting team and host football games? I bet that you don't break even on those unless you get a couple rounds in the playoffs ! Especially if attendance starts to dwindle. By spending money on a quality coach teh school would turn around and MAKE you money in the long run. Your sports teams are the biggest advertising you have. How much would it cost to buy an equal amount of newspaper space as you get with athletic coverage? What if all of that coverage was POSITIVE ?
Do you think that that would help attendance, concessions, enrollment, donations, endowments, and the bottom line? I bet it would !
It seems that there are a lot of Huskie Haters in this blog. You complain when South Hills dominates the ball and you complain when they come up short. There have been allegations of recruiting over the past few years and this year is no exception. But... wouldn't you think they would have a record better than they do now (0-3) if they were recruiting?
There are a lot of comparisons between South Hills and USC. I believe that as well. Great balance on offense and strong defense. Great coaching staff and definately the most talented head coaches. But most people hate the team that has been winning.
You should be wise to remember that your team may be winning now but they too will have a year to rebuild and get the younger players to a level of playing that will bring success. I think other coaches in High School sports could learn from the Huskies head coach when it comes to integrity and humility.
Go Huntington Beach Oilers!!
jmoreno-not sure when you coached but you are right-and wrong. right that Carroll may be the root of the problem and if everyone says he screwed up St Paul then he's 2 for 2. Or maybe he is just screwing up Amat being true to his and days as a Swordsman. there had to be better coaches available. they were probably afraid to try to get someone like the St Bonaventure guy, who was rumored to be interested.but wrong about Verti, who is toooo inexperienced no matter who recommended him. what is Salter going to say-"no, you shouldn't hire the guy"? and Paredes probably doesn't know him as anything but an ex-player.bottom line is Salter paid his dues for many years-and had great bloodlines. DiFiori cut his teeth as a head coach at another school. Amat shouldn't hire a rookie kid and if he is old enough to be hired -he is old enough to take the heat. he should have hired some experience to help him.
you sound in the know-are none of those kind of guys on campus anymore? is this a trend that they lose guys that they should keep? it seems that they should have done more to keep coaches in other sports too.Kendrena leaving for some internet scouting gig? sounds like he was done putting up with Carroll, who should have done evrything he could and bent over backwards to keep Lokar, the past basketball coach with their only CIF Championship. now Amat has a disaster there too by playing teams like Basset, Rosemead and weak DIV tournaments just to get wins. tradition? where has that gone? and it doesn't do any good to have a first class athletic facility without first class programs to put in it.
Amat is NOT what it once was !
Went to the covina game. It looked like a one sided affair, but the offense finally seems to be clicking. Mike looked like his usual self i think 4 tds? 2 in the air and 2 on the ground good game.
Just to let you guys know i didnt post that first comment. Somebody put Damienqb 14 but that wasn't me
Building a staff is the backbone of any program. I sound like a broken record I'm sure. But most good coaches just want to coach at the highest levels. HIRE A COACH WHO ALREADY HAS A STAFF IN PLACE THE DAY HE'S HIRED. That's where ADs make their bed...they hire a coach with ABSOLUTELY NO STAFF and then they piece meal one together= Look no future than Damien's Football and Basketball programs. CASE CLOSED- Here's a short list of qualified assistant coaches- ALL THE "RETIRED" FORMER HEAD COACHES/ASSISTANT COACHES! Look at the NFL and NBA- fired head coaches litter the sidelines of the best coaches in the business. (Pat Rielly-Popavich-the whole NFL) Hiring from NJB, CYO,or Pop Warner is okay at La Puente, Bassett, (no offense)but certainly not TOP Tier Heavy Wieghts like Bishop Amat and Damien !Look at Mater Dei, Loyola and St. John Bosco--sidelines look like a senior center. lol With "TIME" you're the STUD coach( MONGER< GREGORY< LA DUC)and you can mold and develop your own staff, with your system based on credibility. When you hire "lone gun young guns" the insecurity in built in and they're always looking over their shoulder. Do your homework and see their previous coaching records before you have a knee jerk reaction and think I'm being to unfair.
Went to South El Monte/Bonita game. Ref's seemed to be more interested in attempting to have an outcome on the game Flags flew at least 20 times. The worst was on a blocked punt when they called roughing the kicker. Hopefully, they will not be doing any of our league games. Whoever supervises them should get some game film and teach them the difference between being an offical and being officious.
At the defense of Monsignor Carroll, I've got to say that you are all wrong if you think that he chose Verti because he was the cheapest one. Many don't even have the slightest clue what it takes to run a school of over 1,400 kids and balance the needs of the school and the community at large. Pay higher salaries, sure...lets increase tuition again and make a Catholic education less affordable to the community surrounding Amat. Should a coach make twice as much as a 20 year History teacher who has a masters? Monsignor cheap? What about the multi million dollar Student Activity Center. I'm sure he could have kept the old gym and saved tons of money to pay a new coach a SIX figure income. Monsignor had to strike a balance. Thats his job as best as he can do it and not to destroy a football program like everyone thinks he's out to do. Unfortunately its the system that allows coaches to get paid out of control salaries that is broken. But I guess in today's world of high school football money talks huh?
DHS Dad: You gotta take a look at the real issue. Admin at BA had slim pickn's to choose from. No one in their right mind would apply for that job - the fans are nuts, the program is falling apart....only someone so young and inexperienced would apply for that job.
FOR YOU S.H. BASHERS!
yes we are 0-3 to Los Altos , Trabuco Hills and La Habra ! All outstanding programs known for winning. We are a young and talented team. We have made way to many YOUNG mistakes on the field, but we are learning from them. However if we are 0-6 by the time league comes, be ready cause deep down you know we will be fighting for the league championship. check recent history on San Antonio league team records going into league play and we have had bad records. We dont mind being underdogs going into league or CIF for that matter.
BOTTOM LINE> WE ARE TRULY BLESSED TO BE TO BE ARGUING OVER ALL OF OUR TALENTED FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN THIS VALLEY! THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT FOOTBALL STORY LINES GOING ON IN THIS VALLEY, HOW COULD YOU NOT BE PROUD TO BE PART OF SGV FOOTBALL!
I don't know about all of you but week 3 is over and now it's on to week 4 and you have to looking forward to the Charter Oak/Glendora game! This game always has some twist and turns when it comes to these neighbors meeting on the gridiron! Glendora seems to be having its way with teams while CO still hasn't found the beat yet even with a win last night. The rivalry starts at the youth level and continues all the way through to varsity. Many players, parents and coaches know each other and bragging rights are at stake. Though this Blog has turned into accusations, complaints and name calling, I would like to wish Glendora the best of luck. I bleed CO blue and look forward to a great evening of high school football......and a victory!
Saw the West Covina vs Baldwin Park game, the Bulldogs won 26 to 6 but I was suprised by the size & physical play of the Baldwin Park team, they will be a force in the Valle vista league & Arron Harris is definately for real, look out Covina. The Bulldogs seemed to have a bit of a let down after the good showing against Mater Dei
as they lacked focus & committed many penalties through the night, including four in a row on one series [William Wallace had at least 4 big gainers called back of around 20 to 30 yrds through the night plus a couple nice runs in the 10 yard range called back because of penaltys he lost at least 80 to 100+ yrsd due to penaltys, sad to work that hard & not get rewarded for it. ] If they don't pick up it up against Monrovia [who just beat a good Arcadia team] it will be a long night next week with all the speed that the Wildcats have.
SOUTH HILLS BASHING,
You are a lame excuse for a human being.Tranfer,transfer,transfer.There is not 1 kid starting on the team that is on a transfer man you must feel really smart huh?You have no idea!"Corrupt"the only thing Corrupt is your learning ability i cant believe people that say that just because we win SHHS,LOS ALTOS,CHARTER OAK;We all get the same aligation.I will pray for you and your little brain!
Covina fan...you must have a very blunt comprehension of things.South Hills cant bend the rules to get a transfer because if it was against the rules transfers wouldn't be playing.Hope you guys have fun playing your "STRONG" teams this year!Next year you should step it up a noch ;and play the school of the blind then u might have a little respect!
YOUR A WISE GUY!!!
DHS Dad,
Your hit it right on the head. When Salter won at Amat, his dad was an assistant and we know his history at Arcadia. Gano at Los Altos just hit a milestone, 100 wins quicker than any team in the valley, maybe it is because of the teams he plays but he did it and he gets kids to play for him. Gano was an assistant to DeSpain for a number of year before he got his chance. I am glad to see Verti get a chance but get some qualified help or it will be long growing pains.
Problem with Bishop Amat is the problem I see more and more lately- Young Head Coaches! Who are these guys? All around the football/basketball landscape young coaches popping up everywhere. Is it naked ambition or just a lack of resources(money, qualified coaching pools, or ?) I don't get it. It takes a good "brass set" to think yourself as qualified a couple of years out of college (whether you played Div I or Div II) and take on the responsiblity of molding young men. That responsibility is greater than some of these young coaches understand. I just don't get it! Are the Administrations of these schools so paranoid that they'd hire young turks who talk the talk but don't walk the walk? Mostly I see these young guns surrounding themselves with even less qualified assistant coaches. You can see it in the lower level coaching "turnover". What happened to playing your dues and learning your craft? I see mind games with players, petty grudges with parents and "talent" leaving these programs. Coaching is more than just knowing X's and O's, looking good in front of the parents (Lee Trevino calls them the "Flat Bellies"),or being Politically Correct! ( Hey he's young , recently married -conveying he'll set up roots and grow old with the school?) From Mike Holgrem, Bill Walsh, Coach Rollinson, hell even Pete Carroll -they surround themselves with future head coaches- I'll give them (Young Turks)credit for stepping up and wanting the job but like President Truman once said, "If you can't stand the heat...blame it on the kids(talent base has moved on )or parents (disgruntled/overbearing) or alumni(living in the past)! Isn't that what he said? Must be the medication I don't quite recall it like that!
It is time to jump on the South Hills bashing bandwagon? Whats up with the best coaching staff in the valley now? I have stated before that they have had the best talent in the area the past four years and for them to only win 3/4 CIF rings is a shame. Anyone could have won with them, even the Workman coach in that weak excuse for a divsion 7. Bogan & company are way overrated, their program is corrupt with transfers and now the true side will show. They even still have good talent this year but are looking seriously at a 0-5 start. Maybe those Duarte freshman kids will transfer back out now. Coach of the year should be Principal North for having a football team all interested in sign language and French for transfering in. They have always had transfers, but they take no shame in it and now their schedule will take its toll on them.
I was covering the Bosco Tech Workman game for the paper. You can read my story for the specifics, but I thought the Lobos would have pulled out that game if only they would have minimized their turnovers. The same old story, turnover kills, Silva had an interception and they lost a fumble. I think that they were having a lot of problems with the snap or running option plays and pitches from the quarterback to the running backs. They should work on that in practice.
DID I MISS SOMETHING ?ALL I READ B-4 FRIDAYS GAMES IS SOUTH HILLS AND MORE SOUTH HILLS BUT NOW THAT THAT THEY ARE 0-3 WHERE ARE THE ARTICALS.DID YOU GET PAID NOT TO KICK THEM WHEN THEY ARE DOWN?,I DON,T TAKE PAY-OFFS! THEY ARE NOT THAT GOOD AND ARE WAY OVER RATED. I WANT TO READ WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT! THEY HAVE GUYS ON THAT TEAM THAT ARE IN COVINA'S DIST. BUT BENT THE RULES TO GO THERE,I HOPE THERE HAPPY WITH THIER CHOICE'S I,M ONE PERSON WHO IS VERY HAPPY WITH THE 0-3 RECORD THE SOUTH HILLS HAS, I JUST HOPE IT GETS WORSE!!BEFORE IT GETS BETTER.
I have seen two games this year and it is not getting better, even Father Zimmerman, the Priest with the pipe for 25+ years, had to take a seat tonight. One person I spoke to said we were not that big, we have plenty of size. I explained to him that our size is pretty much the same year in and out maybe a little smaller here and there but more than adequate. Amat has made their name with the hitting that they do and I do not see that this year from the defense. The running back from Hart ran over and through them and that is what happens when you are tentative and try to arm tackle a very good running back. It gets ugly real quick.
I agree with you and I have said it before, the coaching staff look to be all under 30. The only two coaches that we listed in the program with any experience and over 30 are the Frosh and JV head coaches. As for the game day program, Amat always puts a class program but is it coincidental that this year there is no bio on the assistant coaching staff. As for the one coach that I saw he was laughing and joking with a couple players during the game. Than I learned he is the kicking coach and kicked for Amat last year, I guess he is just a couple years younger than the rest of them.
I feel for the Punter, this kid can boom it when he is not jumping or crawling for the ball. In the two games that I have seen he has probably only received two snaps to him, COACHES FIX THIS, he may be the one to keep the defense from working in their own territory all year. The QB issue is a prime example when the year befor no one gets to take game day snaps, I brought this up the last couple years when they were beating somebody pretty sound that they should get some else some reps.
I heard a comment the other day about the coach selection. There were some 50+ applicants for the job with some long lists of accomplishments, but the bottom line was the $$$$$$, Msgr. Carroll did not want to pay the coach more than the Principal. Well give him a raise, he is doing a good job. As for Verti, sure he may become a good coach through the growing pain process, but Amat has not made a name with growing pain coaches. What will happen when the growing pains are gone, he will move on also. At least I am not the only one that feels Msgr. Carroll is responsible for this as he was for the demise of the St. Paul program, look how long it took them to get back on track. Msgr. Carroll must go, Msgr. Carroll must go.
The players are there and it buggs me when a coach makes excuses. Too many key players are going both ways, the game was dead locked for a good time and the defense was on the field for a long time and Hart blew it open when the gas tank on many of these young men went empty. The O-Line did a good job of protecting the QB, I was not impressed with the recievers. On more than one occasion they ran lack luster routes and one receiver didn't make an attempt on a ball which was intercepted. Receivers coach, look at the films and grade your receivers on the entire game. With their talent, if they fail the grade than you fail, they didn't get blocks down field and gave a lack luster performance o running routes. I saw some good defensive playes by the DB's and they are very athletic. The front seven got a pretty good push and that was it, arm tackling killed them. What happened to that D-Line player from last year that transferred in from Montebello, I thought he was a junior last year, he looked like he was going to be a monster this year which has not been see by any defensive player.
Amat Players do not give up, but remember you are playing for a school rich in tradition and excellence is expected. As I said before you have to play as a team and support each other.
Aram,
for your comment that Hart coaches have been in these wars before, well Amat is used to being in them as well, year in and out and if the coaching staff can not respond than they need to get out.
Went to the Glendora/Duarte game last night. I expected Glendora to quickly put points on the board as they did against Covina. Interestingly, the opposite happened. Glendora's big scores didn't occour until the 2nd half.
I was stunned at the size of Duarte's O-Line. At least the middle 3 seemed like they averaged 6'7" 280-300 pounds! However, the size mismatch didn't seem to affect the very strong Glendora D-line. Jr. Chris Kovar (#71)- defensive end, had another impressive game with 2 SACKS even while being double and, some times tripled teamed, by the huge Duarte O-line. Glendora's impressive jr. LB Robert Horn (#2) sat out the entire game due to an injury from the Covina game and SR. Matt Coulter - D-Line missed 1 1/2 Qtrs due to an apparent injury. Another great Goal Line stand by Tartan Defense on a very short field (4 yard line).
Tartan running back Jordan Edmonds (#8) had an awesome game running at will. Jake Vega (#33), Zach Butler (#9) and Zach Johnson (#32) had great performances as well. I really liked the Duarte QB alot, he has strong potential, but needs the support of other players.
The kids and fans were well behaved dispite rumors of violence and police escorts.
That was the ugliest blowout I have ever seen. I only saw the second half but by then it was 39-7! Several Tds called back, 150plus yards in penalties,Damien RB fumbles at the Claremont one yard line, KO return fumbled for a TD in the first 8 seconds, 1st down at the one yard line and settle for a field goal from the 8? Is it possible to blow out a team and look this sloppy? WOW!
In the second half it was 17-14? What does that tell you? That Damien has an awesome passing game(Mendrun, Travis, Herrera, ect.) and their defense is poorly schemed. Defensive front is poorly coached (Traps, counters-no clue) LBs- slow to react to runners. The only thing they do well is blitz. Outside Contain? Don't know because everyone runs inside! #39 is solid. 82 is a workhorse. Defense is giving up 21 points a game with this kind of size and speed? And the majority of D starters were in way too long. (Cheap stat building)You can't hope to outscore everybody can you? But the real deal is that teams beat Damien's Defense with sustained drives more than with big plays. Maybe it's the Showtime Rams syndrome- The offense so overwhelmes the defense at practice, day after day, that the defense never learns to stop anyone. Damien's defense over the past three years has allowed 24 points a game! This year it's 21ppg so far and two of them were blowouts! Don't get me wrong a win like this is huge but so are the glaring weaknesses. When the defense plays as well as the offense a Championship is around the corner! Claremont coaches you embarrassed yourselves tonight. Get back on track - your kids deserve better.
So i went to this game tonight, the Hart vs. Amat game, and i was greatly shocked and confused. I haven't seen two blow outs in a row aganist AMAT since the 2000 season. SDLancer and amatlancerblue both hit it right on the nose. BUT, i think that something should be added to that. As Aram said, the lancers only started 3! seniors on defense tonight. Now i know that some senior are injured right now, and that these games don't matter for postseason play, but if AMAT can't learn to come together and win, they won't know how to do it come league time [and they are not in the easiest league in the world].
The coaching staff in too YOUNG and too INEXPERIENCED. If AMAT really wants to even think about salvaging this season, the defense needs to be changed FIRST. The lancers have been outscored 121-79 in three games. if the offense can't score, then the defense can't let the other team score, simple math. but on the other hand, the offense needs to be spiced up. Verti needs to inspire the imagination of his athletes. everyone knows that the ball is either going to the tailback or #2 WR. Throw in some reverses, some screens, some 4 WR sets, something...
AMAT has Rancho Cucamonga next week at home, but before any coach thinks about them, they need to think about their team and how much they are hurting them.
PLAYERS: PLAY HARD, EVERY PLAY. YOU GUYS HAVE BUSTED YOUR BUTTS ALL SPRING, SUMMER, AND CAMP FOR THIS. NEVER GIVE UP. WHETHER OR NOT YOU THINK ITS BAD PLAY CALLING, JUST GO 110MPH EVERY PLAY. IN THE END, IT WILL ALL PAY OFF.
Being an alumnus and a former coach at Amat it is disapointing to see the depths we have fallen to. Coach Mark Verdi is a great Lancer! One of our own. And he needs our support. He is one of us. And those of you who aren't one of us we appreciate your support and understand your frustation but enough. Like the persone who poste above so boldly stated Msr, Carrol is the reason for the demise of our program. Again like the poster above said he has single handely destroyed St Pauls program and now ours.
Lets give coach Verdi a chance. I was recommended by Coach Tom Salter (whom he coached for at Culver City) and i believe Coach Parades. He's one of us. I know its tough but lets give him a chance.
If Mark Mendrun isn't the best player in the valley- WHO IS? The kid is just a production machine. Plain and simple his field generalship and killer instinct is superior. Travis was big, great coming out party (and on TV for a week)nice!Fantastic win after the SJB "thang". Ready for the bad news? 82 had it right= this was the worst Damien's played in a long time and still won by 30. There is so much truth in that I wonder if anyone realizes the haunting statements underlining validity. Enjoy the win, few teams bust someone up that bad...but heed the truth from 82 because tonight revealed everything to everybody.
SD Lancer-you are so RIGHT! This was a mockery! Amat is in the toilet. I encourage all Amat fans who are unhappy to attend the Chalk Talk held at the school Tuesday nights (there is a $5.00 donation for dinner). Coaches host & field questions. We need some real answers here. This is football not rocket science.
Tell the coach what you see. He needs help! The team is being beaten up for the coaches' losses. What a fiasco! The coaches are in a league of their own, but they should not be in this one, as coaches anyway. Reading their bios in the program is a joke. You can make sh-- sound good if you are a skilled writer.
This game (& the prior two) and the stats that are being put up by this QB are ridiculous. The coach continues to stay with this kid, but he is NOT getting the job done. He IS NOT capable of getting the job done and he is dragging this ship down before it sets sail week by week.
My comments about this were noted in an earlier blog as follows:
Many have said that there are no other QBs-lie. In my other blog, I said the following: There are two QBs-Tamayo & Tillis. Tamayo is about 5'7" he did a decent job last year starting at JV, but doesn't get much behind center now. It was said his height is an issue because he cannot see over the line. Tillis is 5'10" with a lot of speed, probably one of the fastest on the team. In my conversations with people no one seemed to understand why he was not playing someplace. He appears to be an above average athlete. The coaches should have at least tried one of these QBs when the score was out of control. The O-line did do a good job, so what happened to Carrillo? Carillo is NOT getting the job done, but Verti will surely go down with that sinking ship based on his decision to stay with him in that Valencia slaughter. LOOK AT THE STATS-they don't lie & they are not opinion.
He can't read coverages as has been apparent both games. It seems the play is "this", so he tries to pull "this" off whether it is the best option or not. Get him out of there! Simple!"
Again-this week defense was a real mess! Verti get a clue! You need help desperately! You should have a town cryer find someone to save your defense.
Offense/Special teams- #2 & #33 play both ways & they are effective. But once Verti saw they were keyed in on for the kick & punt returns, because Hart's coaches made the proper adjustments, Verti should have made an adjustment too and put in #29 to return. You have speed sitting on the sidelines and/or out of position.
Who gives up a score on the very first play of the game? Come on!
Do you know who is on your team? Or have you made all of your decisions just because you are the head coach and too inexperienced and stubborn to change it? Maybe you really don't have a clue about what you should do. That is probably it, because these are the same mistakes that you made as O-coordinator last year.
When the team was on offense, everyone at the game knew who the ball was going to-either #2 or #33. It was not hard for Hart to adjust to this one-dimensional scheme. Amat got away with sloppy reverses twice, but again an adjustment was made by Hart.
Hart did not have to respect the pass. Amat only completed two big pass plays, neither or which was for TD. The last TD pass was thrown against St. Paul & that truly was all #2's exceptional abilities & talent, not the QBs.
Defense: It is obvious that Hart did not have any respect for your defensive scheme because they constantly ran at it with their QB. What a difference a mobile, quick thinking QB makes. They also went for it on 4th and whatever on more than one occasion. Talk about disrespect! Amat is supposed to be known for their defense.
As we know football is a TEAM sport, however, according to the message from Verti, this one player (#7) must be bigger than the TEAM. He is the only player who makes repeated mistakes and does not get reprimanded or pulled from the game.
As noted before STATS don't lie & they are not opinion. One TD in three games. 6 interceptions in 3 games. Hmmmm.
AGAIN, COACHING is the reason for these loses, NOT the players. Coaches STOP beating up on these guys and take responsbility for YOUR losses and lack of knowledge.
You can practice until you are BLUE in the face, but if you really change nothing then nothing changes. If Amat is not going to change Verti, then Verti will have to BE smart enough and a big enough man to change himself. Get some help! I agree with SD Lancer that you have amnesia about what Amat football is supposed to look like. Stop beating down your players AND the program. Maybe you should stick with the classroom and leave the football field to someone who can handle the pressure and make the necessary changes. You did win at being a teacher!
PLAYERS-HOLD YOUR HEADS UP HIGH, NONE OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT. PLAY HARD & BE A TEAM.
GO AMAT!

Watched our Rowland boys hand Montebello a whoopin tonight. Phillip Chase was really on fire tonight, and Montebello couldn't move ANYTHING past Rowland's Line, with a couple big plays by Co-Captain OL/DL Jon Couwenhoven. #2 Rene Smalls, and #7 Joey Chase also had a big night. With a halftime score of 34 to 0, the outcome was pretty clear. Our hearts went out to the guys from Montebello, I can't imagine how hard it is to keep giving 100% in a game like that, they showed a lot of character. Two best comments of the night: overheard from a Montebello staffer selling programs below the Rowland stands after halftime "Programs.... Seat cushions?", lol.. The second was from the Montebello announcer, upon the realization that someone from Rowland had won the 50/50 raffle..."Man, they're even taking our money!" You have to admire keeping your sense of humor in the face of adversity, lol. The only troublesome things were a couple of fumbles by Rowland, hang onto that thing, guys! The fumble by Rene Smalls, I was zoomed in with my camera right on him, and my stomach just sank. I have no doubts that Rene will emerge as one of the big power players of the team, however. Everybody makes a boo-boo now and then! Go Raiders!!!!
I was at the Rowland/Montebello game, and I truly felt sorry for the oilers! Rowland annihilated them..28-0 the first three minutes of the second quarter.. Phillip Chase's passing game is eons better this year than last year..and Brian Ellison and Rene Smalls are going to be tough to stop, especially with Couwenhoven ( the bohemith!)plowing the field..Yay Raiders..look out West Covina..
south hills sure did suck.
*CO Bro - If you are tired of hearing about amat than dont read it. Its as simple as that. You obviously dont know the Amat program very well and its history. How many bloggers on here are concerned about the CO program?...hmmm..let me think..I dont recall any.. How much tradition do they ride on?...let me see hear...couldnt tell you. Its a two way street budy. All I have to say is that the Amat congregation is huge and are very concerned with the present and future of its football program. There are imense expectations on the line each year for each new amat team to be successful enough to win another CIF championship. That well dried up a while ago. So if you dont like what you hear its very simple, dont respond. We take great pride in our football program, maybe you should in yours insead of bashing others.
Damn staight Mark...That was one hell of a game...AT get ready to start moving that top 10 around...If damien doesn't move up to top 3 something is definitely wrong, and believe me by the start of league there will be a significant change. Damien possibly played one of its worst games of this year's season and won by over 30! Damien's big D shut down the CHS offense and big T-rav had an amazing game. So did our QB Mark Mendrun, coming off a bruised lung and no one ever would have known. He is one of the best scramblers around...AND HE CAN PASS! Overall it was a good win and a major morale booster after last weeks "heart breaker" to Bosco. Watch out LA and CO...Damien is definitely coming!
CO Bro - Your post didn't make it because of the profanity. Not my rules, man. But clean it up and we're all good. Congrats on your win tonight.
So aram ur 14 win win by claremnt pick was way wrong. Don't ever doubt me n travis n my team. We spanked that puppy pack. N we would have hit 80 but we had our subs in n had 4 tds called back. You were way wrong and so was everyone we send a message tonight. Claremont stadium is our house n Los Altos is next! watch out we are loaded n on fire!!!!!!!!!!
IS IT REALLY GROWING PAINS?
I just got back from the Amat vs Hart game and let me tell you there are not enough words to describe it. I only saw half the game because I got there at half time, but from what I saw tonight it would seem that the Amat Football program is in a different zipcode than the school.
Im going to vent some frustration and reiterate some truth in this blog. If any players read this I want you to know that you have my utmost respect and support. My hat goes off to you guys for going out there each and every friday night because I know how tough it is. THE NEXT PART OF THIS IS NOT DIRECTED AT THE PLAYERS AND IT NEVER WILL BE.
The look of disgust had set over the amat congregation as I left the stadium tonight. It was the same look that I sure came over my face as I began to watch Amat start the second half. I see another 2-8 season coming and I am going to adress the root of the coaching problem. Msgr. Caroll has come in and done the same thing he did to St. Paul's program, HE'S DESTROYED IT!! (It has already been said in another blog so I didnt open up this can of worms Im just continuing to expoit it). Msgr. Caroll needs to go. He has made a lot of decisions not because they are the right ones, but because they are the cheaper way to go. I'm almost positive this is what happened with the hiring process for a new football coach. This is one of the main reasons Amat is in the predicament it is in right now.
My optimism for a decent Amat football season is gone. From what I have seen tonight Amat has a lot of good athletes and talent. Poor coaching is to blame. Penalties..penalties..penalties. There is nothing I hate to see more than an undiciplined team on top of poor coaching. I'm sorry to say, but coach Verti is not cut out to be the head coach at BISHOP AMAT..BISHOP AMAT!! That use to mean more. Do you even remeber what it was like when you played there coach? Because I sure do. This is not BISHOP AMAT quality football. Have some pride, show some hart, and for goodness sake GET SOME IMAGINATION FOR THAT OFFENSE!! THERE IS ABSOLUTLY NONE. NONE!! Im sorry but this young unexperienced coaching staff have no business coaching at the varsity level. Its cut-throat but it is the absolute truth.
so to sum it all up, the answer is yeah maybe a little growing pains, but not this much. Amat needs somebody who can put the fire back into this program and Im sory but Verti is not the answer.
*PLAYERS WHO READ THIS: KEEP PLUGGING AWAY THE REST OF THIS SEASON. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A LITTLE MORE HEART AND DETERMINATION. YOU GUYS NEED TO COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM. GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THE SEASON YOU GUYS HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT.
GO LANCERS..
