go la habra!

i am on the jv football team at damien and we worked claremont so dubb3trathree first you must be a parent because you kno our coaches name in his first year and you kno our players names and who is your stud with the antics who was chest thumping the coach never happend and i dont remember anyone saying thats how we play jv football our whole defence said thats how we play d high football thats all i have to say

Well in the words of Mac Davis,"Boy it's hard to be humble!" Early game predictions on Damien are getting scary! Maybe someone KNOWS what he's talking about! Predicted 35-21 score 56-21 at least the 21 was right! Hadn't planned on Mendrun playing. One question: where the hell have the Claremont coaches that beat Damien in the playoffs 4 years ago gone? They looked well coached then and looked like wet puppies tonight. I suspect they'll be a line of 6,7. and 8th graders (and their parents) making a bee line to Damien in the next couple of years. Top to bottom FR., JV ,Varsity coaching staffs were aweful! What happened to Claremont?

IS IT REALLY GROWING PAINS?

I just got back from the Amat vs Hart game and let me tell you there are not enough words to describe it. I only saw half the game because I got there at half time, but from what I saw tonight it would seem that the Amat Football program is in a different zipcode than the school.
Im going to vent some frustration and reiterate some truth in this blog. If any players read this I want you to know that you have my utmost respect and support. My hat goes off to you guys for going out there each and every friday night because I know how tough it is. THE NEXT PART OF THIS IS NOT DIRECTED AT THE PLAYERS AND IT NEVER WILL BE.
The look of disgust had set over the amat congregation as I left the stadium tonight. It was the same look that I sure came over my face as I began to watch Amat start the second half. I see another 2-8 season coming and I am going to adress the root of the coaching problem. Msgr. Caroll has come in and done the same thing he did to St. Paul's program, HE'S DESTROYED IT!! (It has already been said in another blog so I didnt open up this can of worms Im just continuing to expoit it). Msgr. Caroll needs to go. He has made a lot of decisions not because they are the right ones, but because they are the cheaper way to go. I'm almost positive this is what happened with the hiring process for a new football coach. This is one of the main reasons Amat is in the predicament it is in right now.
My optimism for a decent Amat football season is gone. From what I have seen tonight Amat has a lot of good athletes and talent. Poor coaching is to blame. Penalties..penalties..penalties. There is nothing I hate to see more than an undiciplined team on top of poor coaching. I'm sorry to say, but coach Verti is not cut out to be the head coach at BISHOP AMAT..BISHOP AMAT!! That use to mean more. Do you even remeber what it was like when you played there coach? Because I sure do. This is not BISHOP AMAT quality football. Have some pride, show some hart, and for goodness sake GET SOME IMAGINATION FOR THAT OFFENSE!! THERE IS ABSOLUTLY NONE. NONE!! Im sorry but this young unexperienced coaching staff have no business coaching at the varsity level. Its cut-throat but it is the absolute truth.
so to sum it all up, the answer is yeah maybe a little growing pains, but not this much. Amat needs somebody who can put the fire back into this program and Im sory but Verti is not the answer.
*PLAYERS WHO READ THIS: KEEP PLUGGING AWAY THE REST OF THIS SEASON. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A LITTLE MORE HEART AND DETERMINATION. YOU GUYS NEED TO COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM. GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THE SEASON YOU GUYS HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT.

GO LANCERS..

Can't figure out how anyone can be picking Claremont tonight. We won 32-3 last year and we played better last week in the "loss" to SJB than at any point last year. If Mendrun plays, Damien 41-3, if he doesn't 38-7.

The upset of the week. Ontario Christian 24 Covina 17. Don't forget OC has romped San Dimas the past two years. Let's hear it for the little schools. Go OC

AMAT vs. Hart I'm worried about a lot of things when it comes to this Amat team. The offense is built around Gaisie and because of his injury, I do not see the Lancers going very far againts anyone. McBride is good but its Gaisie that is the backbone of the offense. The Amat defense is again facing another Div. 1 recruit level RB...Thats 3 in a row that the Amat defense has seen this year. You will probably be seeing all 3 of these RB's on TV within the next two seasons. I think it would be foolish to think that Amat's run defense is going to heal itself anytime soon. Again I see Hart running all over the Lancer D. How is Amat going to keep up with the high score w/out Gaisie? I dont believe they can. I honestly do not know how this game is going to turn out. Without Gaisie, an interception prone QB, a defense with severe bleeding holes, and a lack of discipline witnessed on this team, I see Amat....ummmmm.........I see Amat....ummmmm
I see Amat.....FREAKIN NUKING DA INDIANS 31-28!!!

OUR LADY...QUEEN OF VICTORY........

Went to see the freshmen game @ Claremont for the first half and these kids are loaded. Big, fast, strong and confident. Seen the second half of the JV game and Coach E had the defense rolling. D-line was awesome, Middle Lb #33 was tough, speed and guts in the secondary. Damien's future is defense, defense, defense. We're huge! Really liked the play of # 42- this kid is special! Always around the ball. Solid! #70 is ready to move up (at least at Varsity practices) Okafor - well he's just showing everyone what they missed last year, - kid's TOUGH!
Only one suggestion- Less antics from their STUD---just let your game talk for itself! Antic city last week with SJB and you were getting worked. If I have to hear "That's how we play JV Football" one more time. Well I guess I'll leave that to youthful exuberance! I don't remember seeing varsity player's chest thumping their coaches on the sidelines when the game's not over!
Just did not understand the Claremont coaches' decisions regarding #1 and #21? They played most of the game but didn't they have anyone who could play CORNER?RB?WR? that wasn't 5'3" 115 lbs maybe?. They were game but..?
Maybe all the talent's on the Varsity. Anyone know anything about LB Aaron Martin? Don't think I saw him on the JV team. This Damien Soph. Class has a Championship in them, I said that last year and I still believe it but time will tell. Great win after last week's miss step.

EARLY VARSITY PREDICTION_- After seeing last year's game against Claremont, Claremont really had nothing at the skill positions, everyone was tentative and scared. O/D lines were being pushed around .Maybe that'll change but Damien wasn't scared last year and this year they're flying high after SJB. Score Damien 35 Claremont 21. If defense steps up Damien 35 Claremont 10. Mark it down!

Saturday’s games
Servite 49 Diamond Ranch 14 (BLOW OUT)

Amat is going to have to come out fired up this week. Hart is 0-2 and that is unheard of with the Indians. They are going to bring it. Amat is hungry for a win after being blown away defensivly by Valencia. Both teams [Valencia and Hart] come from the same league, so it wouldn't be unheard of if the Indians came out throwing the ball all over the place. Amat is without top running back Gaisie, but McBride and Fletcher are ready and willing to step up and take control. The Amat defense will need to step it up this week and make some changes in the secondary. With all in mind, I believe that AMAT is going to come out firing on all cylinders as it is their first home game of the year.

Bishop Amat 28 Hart 17

WEST COVINA 35 BALDWIN PARK 14 blow out!!!!!!!!!!!
BONITA 42 SOUTH 7 BLOW OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
