You guys have got to see this ...
The best pregame speech of all time? Hit the link below and let us know ...

This is Michigan quarterback Chad Henne's high school team. He is in his senior year in this video and among the players in this locker room.
Here's the link http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ow2TwwzSXHg
Do you think Greg Gano or Steve Bogan could do something similar? They're good, but I doubt it. I've never seen anything like it.
COMMENTS PLEASE ... IS THIS TOO MUCH OR TOO GOOD?

SGVAthl-
The singular of alumni is alumnus (masc), or alumna (fem). Unknown's accertion of stupidity may or may not be correct, but ignorant or uneducated is more accurate.
The rest of the Amat alumni should question why this "athlete" was brought to their beloved school, and how he graduated.

unknown, I may have sounded a little judgemental in saying that AMAT is the only team in the Valley with Tradition, Loyality, and Dignity. There are a few other teams in the SGV that have great tradition and fan bases. I'm just a little sick of people saying AMAT is normal. It might just be because I'm and alumni, but I've spoken to many other people who have played for other schools in the Valley and they all agree AMAT has the biggest name. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying what I have heard from experience. I always wish best of luck to every team in the SGV. So with that, I wish best of luck to whatever team you might be cheering for tonight...
PS. very creative name....

Maybe its a bit early in the morning and you just rubbed me the wrong way - but SGV Athlete, you are dumber than a brick if you think that AMAT is the only team in the SGV with Tradition, Loyalty, and Dignity.
Your comment reeks of stupidity.

HSFB FAN, calm down. Your just mad because everyone is talking about the ONLY D1 school in the Valley. I think the next best thing to AMAT is South Hills or Los Altos. If you like, lets all talk about them. [but then we would all get bored after about 10 minutes]. If you don't like everyone talking about AMAT, ignore it, or go somewhere else. I am seriously sick of people calling AMAT a "normal" team. Even if they went 1-9, they could beat ANY team in the SGV. Heck, if they had the schedule Covina or Charter Oak did, they would be 14-0 and CIF Champs every year. If you want to talk about just another HS game, talk about anyone in the SGV. But if you want to talk about a program with Tradition, Loyalty, and Dignity, just bring up the word AMAT...

Best speech BEFORE a Championship Game- Coach Bob Calderon.
I know it's not the fire and brimstone on this video but top this! We just beat St Tom Aquinas 21-22 on a last second pass in the back of the end zone to run our record to 31-0. Before the Championship game after warmups, Coach Calderon gathers the team and asks two questions, (in the calmest voice he asks)"Men we've reach the championship game and all I want to ask you is this. Do you want to be men? (players ...yes, yes, yes, some more sure than others, lol) Today I'm going to give you ALL that chance. The chance to prove to yourselves that you are ready to become men. Have we done everything to become men and are you ready to become a man today? (players YES,YES! YES!!!)" Coach Calderon then drops this bombshell, " Good! You have captians, you know the plays. You know who your leaders are-follow their lead. You're undefeated! When I come back I want 50 points on that scoreboard. Good luck gentlemen!" That's it! He walks away. Ronnie Arias and Tony Sanchez, our captains didn't even flinch. All they said was , "let's Go!" A parent who helped was our only adult on the sideline that game. We won 56-0 in the Championship Game. Where was Coach Calderon? In the stands with the dad's celebrating what would be his last game for St. Isabel and his first of 29 CYO Championships with our hated rivals up the street( St. Mary's) Better pay.
When he died he still had a picture of our team on the dash of his car. His son gave that picture to my mom when he died. A few years back his son Bob Jr.,coaching at Assumption, called me to be at his last Championship Game 30 years later! (best honor I've ever had, footballwise) He said if this was his last game he'd want me to be there. I was there and it was his last game. 32-0 just like his Dad. He coached that game from a wheel chair. I had the honor of coaching against that team, we lost 35-21. We were 17-0 at the time and he shouted the plays, just like his Dad, from the sidelines! 5R, 6R. 5RP,6RP, Spread! same 5 plays his Dad ran. No new plays in 35 year! Ain't broke don't fix it!
His Dad, Bob Calderon Sr. and son Bob Calderon Jr. are both in the CYO Hall of Fame, because they made men out of boys, and Champions out of these little schools in East Los Angeles that had no business running the table against bigger, faster, stronger teams from SGV,OC,or the Valley. Championshipships aren't given away or lost they're earned. Enjoy your retirement Coach and God Bless you and yours. Bloggers the floor is yours, lol

AMAT, AMAT, AMAT....you guys sure do think the high school football world revolves around your beloved but misguided team don’t you.
Posted by: HSFB FAN | September 18, 2006 9:47 AM
Without mentioning any names, THAT is AMAT football!!! Well, I cant speak for Verti and I'm sure its typical at all high schools but I only know one...and this video captured it on film. The uniforms are just different. This video is pure passion and the coach did an excellent job firing up his troops. I know it may seem extreme to many parents but it is really not a big deal and every part of this "speech" was scripted. The player that he singled out was probably the team leader. Its the team leaders job to lead. In order for the leader to fire up his team, he himself must be fired up himself. Those kids were on fire when they left that locker room and they probably played their hearts and souls out. This is how athletic excellence is born...in the locker room being yelled at by Coach. Do we look down upon the drill seargent as he is screaming at his recruits? No we dont and this guy, like This behavior said, did NOT use any cuss words. This coach demands discipline and respect and his players seem to want to give that to him. Amat need to hire this guy!

Right ON Betty B.
I guess a football coach is above the law and shouldn't have better judgement or character!

Hey Guy's I think thats about what Bogan will look like after tonights game! Lots of mistakes ,............ well bring on Claremont.
Posted by: VANNER | September 15, 2006 10:13 PM
He might not have cussed but he did lay his hands on a minor.
Posted by: Betty B | September 15, 2006 3:02 PM
This behavior happens every freaking day at practice.....I think it's awesome!
Posted by: Seriously | September 15, 2006 2:49 PM
This type of behavior happens every weekend on almost every level. For those that do not believe it, you are in the dark. He didn't even cuss.
Posted by: This behavior | September 15, 2006 1:58 PM
This type of behavior by a grown man is just unacceptable! He should have been fired! A true coach will find alot better ways to motivate his players and his players will respect him for it!

That's great! I played ball from JR All American to 2 years at Mt Sac and I have never seen anything like that. Don't get me wrong I have seen some chairs and chalkboards being broken but nothing like that.
