Damien still unranked ...

No. 12, as in Danny Pertusati or as in where Damien ranks in the Inland Division?
Latest Inland Division Top 10
1 Centennial(Corona)
2 Vista Murrieta
3 Corona
4 Chino Hills
5 Redlands
6 Norco
7 Upland
8 Temescal Canyon
9 Chaparral
10T Carter
10T Temecula Vly
Other Rancho Cucamonga
Aram thoughts: Here's my problem with this. Lets say that Damien beats current No. 4 Chino Hills next week, the Spartans will obviously join the rankings, but where? If Chino Hills wins, you can bet your mortgage payment the Huskies will be one of the Top 4 seeds in the playoffs. But what about Damien? Will the Spartans go from unranked to being one of the Top 4 seeds in a matter of a week? That's probably not going to happen. Considering how tough this division looks, it would be a great advantage to be a Top 4 seed and it doesn't look like Damien will be that, even with a win. That means the road to the finals won't be as easy as it should be. What stuns me is that Rancho Cucamonga is the "other receiving votes" not Damien. Not good for the Spartans. Why take the long road when you can take the scenic route?

Comments
If and when Damien peaks look out for whoever is on the field with them. This team can score 50-60 pts on any given night. When they scored 56 on Claremont ask any coach he will tell you the offense never got going..Loa Altos they never got going all night, yet 26pts and a heartbreak loss.
SJB, struggled all night and put up 29pts and just couln't beat the refs even at home. This team has suprised alot of people with the consistancy of the defense. This is just a bunch of good kids working and trusting each other. On each play they want to be the guy who makes the tackle, stops the drive..there seems to be alot of comrodire on the field. We will see who wants it more on Thursday Nov.9th...Later

DAMIEN 29 - CHINO 14
It's about time Damien gets a ranking. One game left to prove they are #1 in the Sierra league. The WHOLE TEAM did a great job tonight after a very weak start. Chino had one very outstanding player, #40, who kept the Damien boys in line both offensively and defensively. Mendrun had some mighty long and accurate passes...60, 42, 40-something plus others to rack up many air yards. Pittman, we're praying for you and hope the knee will be okay for next week's game.
Spartans, keep up the good work, sportsmanship and team spirit. Chino Hills next Thursday, CIF the following.

Finally some football!! Dude the way you feel about Damien is the way I see Covina. Once Covina gets going its scary. Forget who they have played. They are a machine. The defence is playing very well. They are fast and strong. I hope that Damien gets all it wants. I wishing the same for Covina. This may be the year for some kids on the block.

Damien's 06-07 Football Team
The scary thing about Damien is that they can get better. I think every player and every coach believes Damien still hasn't peaked and that's scary! Not to get ahead of ourselves but Damien continues to add weapons while other teams are losing players to injury, grades or suspensions.
Hadn't been to practices in a while but went recently and the amount of violence the O/D lines inflict on each other every day at practice is remarkable.
Much has been said about QB Mendrun but a very smart "Lou" told me something very interesting, "The players see Mendrun bounce back from injury and all the players rally around him. These players are tough, work hard and are very united. No complainers and no nagging injuries"
For example, at the beginning of the season it was, "Damien's a two man show -Mendrun/Travis" and the Defense was "young, untested and suspect". Both those statements were true then but not any more.
Now the running game is clicking, goal line offense is clicking, (Like someone called in the Marines), well maybe one! People talk about Travis' catches being down but now Lee's scoring and Taylor's coming on, (nice 60 yard bubble) told you this kid is special, and we've yet to use the TE! Offensive line is just brutal. Props to Coach Bubba!
On defense, the front four is just coming on and registering sack after sack! Luiten is just what I said he would be- a monster! And he's just getting started and should be on someone's "To Sign LIST!"! Rabe's looking for scouts and taking names, Walsh is on a Senior Quest, and Uche, Gallardo, Scharrer,Okafor what can you say- you can't block them all! LBs are free and bring the wood and the deep stuff is Harper/Pertusati land. Props to Coaches Hile and Carroll.
Why some teams come together and other teams don't no one knows. This team is coming together at the right time and it's a pretty special run.
Good luck against Chino. One game at a time.

Thanks Damien Dad!!! You hit the nail on the head. Every team at one point or another will be at the bottom or top. That is how they cycle is. I agree with you, there is no need to bash the teams that are winning. Lets all be supportive and hope that the teams from the SGV can come out on top this year. I couldn't beleive how SGV teams lost in the first round of CIF last year. I think that Damien is one of those good teams. I hope that in the end that they get the respect the deserve. When its you time you need to show what you got.

Hey Aram, is there a link on the website for your top ten? I'm out of town today and was trying to find it. Thanks.

Well yes i believe damien dad is correct. We need to support all our SGV teams so they do well in playoffs. Ever since i can remember the OC teams have gotten so much hype. I cannot believe this i think teams in the SGV can hang with anybody but time will tell. In response to this CIF poll; its not a big deal. Damien needs to focus on its week to week victories not the polls. If damine just keeps strong focus on each and every team. Chino will be fired up this week and damien needs to match that intensity. If damien just keeps winning they will get a good seat in playoffs, and will make it to the semi's and in my opinion the finals. What do you all think i havenet seen corona or redlands or any of those teams play how can damien measure up? Thanks for the feedback guys

I read alot about this team or that team playing "no bodies" but if that's true than what worth would being # 1 in SGV have? Maybe we should gave credit where credit is due and acknowledge teams in our SGV that are playing well and beating their scheduled opponents.
For example Covina and Rowland seem to have great chemistry, just like Damien's team this year. If we don't give each other credit why are any one of us surprised when arguably the best team in SGV , Damien, is not in the Inland Top Ten.
Top Ten Rankings SGV
1) Damien- anyone need to argue that point again?
2) Rowland-They win and fight and bounce back, win and fight. Had chances to fold and haven't-ain't going to happen!
2) Covina- again they just win and have been doing so for 2 years now. They beat Glendora in rematch.
4) Charter Oak- maybe Farrar has some magic left or they just got better after "seeing" better
4) Bishop Amat-Beats everyone else on this list but Damien, this year.
6) Glendora- bounces back and beats Chino after facing better team.
7) Diamond Ranch- They want to be the best and played the best, time will tell.
8) Bonita- team on a two game skid, losing at a bad time!
9) Los Altos- Too much history to be off this list going into league.
9) South Hills-Too much history to be off this list going into league.

Chino Hills is not as good as they seem. Damien is probably going to win the game and get a decent seed.

THROW US A VOTE THEN AT! Damien's only losses are by a combined 4 points...And all 6 of their wins are by 16 or more points EACH!

Aram
Please help me understand why Oaks Christian is in the Northwest Region.
This team would beat anybody in this valley.
I really cannot understand what the CIFSS is thinking??
How balanced are the playoffs really going to be in all regions?
Somethings dont appear right here!
