Remember when CO was No. 2 in the area? They're back on the climb!

| | Comments (11) |

Put on detention a few weeks ago and left for dead, CO is surging back into the spotlight.

Remember back when Charter Oak started the season as the No. 2 team in the SGV Tribune rankings? Well, they fell out of flavor for a while but the Chargers have spent the past three weeks beating Claremont, West Covina and Los Altos. Lou and The Boys are looking like the team to beat in the Miramonte League and might have a big say in the Southwest Division playoffs.

Who are the other teams that are surging right now?
Bishop Amat?
Diamond Ranch?
Rosemead?
South El Monte?
Northview?

A real stand up guy, for the kids right. What about the CIF game where Jason David was hit so hard that he did not know where he was at during halftime. But the coaching staff still had him out there during the second half. Is he really there for the kids? I think not, for himself. Jason David was injured and the coach didn't have the balls to do what was right for the kids own safety, because he had to win. So talk all you want about what a stand up guy he is, cause in the end, it is the truth that hurts.

Nice post 4th&one, Lou must be a stand up guy
to be there 25 years. Also to have an ex Charger who is in the pro's yell out his former highschools name just vindicates coach Farrar's
positive repore he has with his players.

Thank God for the Farrar family and their dedication to their community. Add Coach Lehigh, Coach Evans and Coach Smith and what a staff you have. All the bad and mean things said earlier in the year and even now, through it they continued to do the job and look what has happened, winning again, as usual.

Being in the fore-front of an outstanding program always leaves you open for the cheap shots and second guessing. This outstanding program was built by Coach Farrar after long years of hard work and dedication. He went to school in the Charter Oak school district, came back to teach for it and has been the coach for over 25 years. He loves this community and has given his entire working life to it. He deserves all of the respect and compliments he receives.

As he begins to wind down his career as a teacher and football coach why don't we cut the guy a break? I personally hope he is still the coach for 20 more years as he is one bright spot in a community and school district that needs more people like him, from top to bottom.

It amazes me how people can say such mean things as their child is only around for a short period of time and they are supporters only through that period and then move on. Coach Farrar starts over again and again every year, honestly trying to make a child a better person. With the influences at home now days, it's even a harder job than ever before. Parents trying to be friends to their children instead of a parent, allowing under-age drinking, openly swearing and lying in front of their children and not being any type of positive role model. Not once have I ever seen a child pay for the mistakes a parent has made with Coach Farrar. Though a parent may verbally abuse the coach, accuse him of stupid things and/or even threaten him, the child was never held responsible, as it is in so many programs now days.

There are a lot of good coaches across the valley now days, some later in their careers and some just starting. I would hope that the starters learn something from the older ones. With the older coaches, I hope you may leave in peace and tranquility as you deserve it from your dedication and commitment. It certainly seems to be a trend now days to send all coaches off as harsh as possible.

There are a lot of ex-players running around with many positive memories of their days with "Big Lou". I am sure there are some with awful memories also but I am positive the good out weighs the bad twice over. Then you look at a Jason David of the Indianapolis Colts who on Sunday Night Football in front of a nationally broadcast audience and they introduce him, instead of him declaring his college like all the other players he says "Charter Oak High School". How proud can a man be of his high school and then how proud can you be of that man. What an outstanding example of what Charter Oak Football has meant to a lot people.

Hat's off to Lou Farrar and all of the football coaches everywhere who dedicate themselves to the game, their community and our children. Keep the good work up!

C.O. is really coming together. Lehigh must feel like he is on an island. Every year he assembles a great defense while the offense sputters for maybe 10 points. Maybe Lehigh should call the shots on both sides of the ball, then they will probably play to their potential, and destroy teams. I don't think its the Aram jinx, I think dad just needs to step aside and take his son with him. Chargers keep your heads up and continue to work hard, its your heart that has made the program.

No comments on the Northview squad? This team is really starting to jell together. It took a couple of weeks to get their talented Sophomore class some varsity experience but they are starting to come out of their shells. Their QB has looked solid, their receivers look solid as well. They also have a very deep and talented backfield with the emergence of #2 at tailback but # 6 is solid as well and #44 at fullback is a beast. Their o-line has been playing well lately as well. #74 is a by far one of the best o-lineman and d-lineman in the valley and the rest of the cast has finally come together and have been clearing the way for the running game and keeping the pressure off of their talented QB.

As much as I'd like to see Amat do well they are going to be very hard pressed to beat Notre Dame. They'll beat Crespi and Loyola but Notre Dame is on a different level right now. Whoever comes out of the Trinity is going to have their hands full with ND in CIF.

CO is busy surging and they will keep it going. We have a great group of kids who know what they need to do. AJ, Mike, Emilio, the Thompson twins all have the strength and desire to make it to and possibly win the playoffs. Those of you who lost faith early - shame on you. Lou and the boys aren't done by a long shot.

Rosemead is a surging team right now and a win over Arroyo will really put them in a good spot for CIF...weird how they started off slow and deadbeat and have now found that chemistry. Good coaching will do that fof you...

Diamond Ranch, again good coaching. smart of him to play the big boys in Non League. He took his pounding but it got his team ready to play league...Los Altos must have looked normal compared to Servite or whatever Trinity teams he took on. Smart move.

Bishop Amat ,
This team has made lots of improvement in Beating back to back a unbeaten St. Francis and tough Chaminade. They have done this without Gaise and the coaching staff is trying their best to mix up their strategy from game to game...Does Amat have the desire to win in League tho...Crespi, SO ND, and Loyola are o push overs.....they have to win 2 out of three to have any chance of CIF........they will not beat ND......

Aram,i have to disagree with you co is going to have to score more than 14 points to win in the southwest my friend there a low scoring team do they even have a offense, now they might win league but watch out for diamond ranch, to bad for westco but shit happens you just have to over come it, rowland did.

ps.i like your surging team picks real surgers

Good luck to the Chargers, out of the 4 years that they played West Co. there were 3 great games that were close, if West Co can rebound from their current troubles, it would be fun to see the Chargers in the playoffs.
