Always makes me proud when I see a young man I've known since t-ball excell in a sport as I'm sure it does you. Remember this Blog is here primarily to talk sports and promote our youth, not Bitch at each other. Lets just all be Happy :) for the kids and when I'm at a Covina game I'll look for you and your old hat. How many other citys in the valley can boast about so many winning programs from one area. I've seen Glendora play 2 times this year( Damien and Chino) and seen Covina play once vs. San Dimas. And in all honesty I think Covina beats Glendora in a rematch and I've said so for two weeks, last nights flub against Ayala probably proves my point.

Covina has too many weapons to score with and Glendora basically has Edmonds ( 250 plus yards running and receiving), a bad inconsistent quarterback who arm is as predictable as the weather. Seen him vs. Damien and his throws weren't JV quality. Seen him vs. Chino and he's all world efficient (making all the throws)-that doesn't cut it! He's mediocre at best. Doesn't start at any other SGV team, at least NOT one that's TOP TEN.

McD is a stud, flyers at the WR, runners are stout, LBs are quick,D-line is quick and agressive. Glendora is poorly schemed or world beaters, pooch kicks kickoffs?, over use Edmonds and gets dismantled completely by Damien, and then luck out against Ayala? and Rowland? (both wins and not knocking those but honestly Rowland beats you in a rematch as well), and have real problems with their kicking game. Covina just rolls!

No slight to Glendora other than to say Top Ten teams can't be this inconsistent and expect to be respected as such. If they had shown up for Damien we'd be talking #2 in SGV.

Damien's Four man front and "Magnificent Seven" are very very special. Just like Covina's run and Rowland's "keep on truckin'" machine and Big Lou's late season surge! SGV football rules!

Top ten

1) Damien - Even Amat nods in approval ( lil brother grows up!)
2) Covina - What a great two seasons (Enjoy it while "he" last)
2)Charter Oak- 200 wins don't come easy or often- Big Lou take a bow!
2)Rowland- Did they win again? Yup!
5)Glendora- sometimes it's not enough to win but how bad you look when you don't that matters!
6)Los Altos- Casteneda fan, too much will in those boys to go out like that!
7)Workman- Coach rejuvenates and resurrects the dead and forgotte- Coaching matters!
8)Diamond Ranch- Points for strenght of schedule but what about league?
9)Duarte-7-2 and 5-0 in league gets you on any Top Ten list in my book
10)Bishop Amat- more support equals more wins. Hopefully a little humble pie quiets the stands and makes them rally around Coach "and" team!

Covina is playing its best football of the season and getting better and better each year meanwhile Coach Z keeps putting that Nickle Barbone kid on a pedestal which he ain't worthy of. San Dimas is not and never will be a Football School. SAINTS fans should feel lucky that Coach Darryl Thomas isn't going to run up the score on them because he has class. So shhs go talk about and make statements that don't matter - keep it up because you just don't realize how much better COVINA is than SAN DIMAS this year. It doesn't matter that I am putting 'fuel' out there for SD. They are just too small and they have internal problems at the quarterback position. Why did Coach Z ever take the chance with that Barrett kid? Where is he now? Did he abandon the Saints again like he did when he was a sophomore? Man SD is in trouble Thursday!

Lawrence Phillips DOES THAT RING A BELL?? Phillips was an All-Valley running back setting records at Baldwin Park, but everybody knew he was trouble off the field. But because he could run the football, he was always taken care of by coaches and teachers. He then went to the University of Nebraska and had more problems with authority. He was drafted by the Rams and again, had problems that eventually caught up with him. He now faces 20 years in prison. Mike McDonough is no Lawrence Phillips on the field. But there are many comparisons to him off the field. He is headed down the same path. What does he do after the season? What will he do when there's not a coach or anybody to defend him? He will find out quickly that after football season, nobody will care as much as they do now. McDonough has won and will continue to win a lot of games for the Colts, but I'm sure DT won't be sad to see him leave after this season. Here's the thing: and this is what people who have played HS sports (successfully) know....when the lights go off, and the game if long over very FEW people will actually remember the touchdowns, or how many yards you rushed for....you will be ultimately remember for the type of person you are. For playing your heart out on Friday nights....being a solid high school student in between kickoffs, working hard enough off the field to go on to college....and just being a well rounded member of your community.....This, in my opinion is something that the McDonough has yet to grasp. Why?? Maybe because he has been given the "get out of jail free card�? a little too often. CHARACTER BOYS....it's all about CHARACTER.....This is life…not a game of Monopoly!!

Your a very mean and bitter person, did mike hurt your kid or something in a football game?

You are right you are entitled to your opinion. I do not know the story behind what happen. I have heard about 10 differnt versions of the situation. How ever I do agree that no kid should be disrespectful to a parent, teacher, or coach. I'm sure that the discipline aspect of the issue was taken care of by Coach Thomas and school. I can't speak on what I don't know and as of right now it is a pass act. So when a kid messes up, are we going to hold it over them for ever. This is something Mike has to deal with. I will do my best as a parent and mentor to try to keep a kid out of trouble. I always talk with my kids freinds and any one who knows me, the first question I ask, is how they are doing in school. I beleave in chance and I beleave that it takes a village to raise a child. I think that our kids need all the help they can get. I will go out of my way to help any child. My son last year was tutoring and helping some of his classmates and ball players last year. I do have a little faith in our school system. If what Mike did or what any other kid my do, I would hope that the faculty and staff will be fair in there decision on how to discipline a student. It's done and over we have moved on it happen months ago, I just hope that he learned his lession.

I am new to this blog, but I think that putting kids such as McD, AHarris and Bbone in this type of forum is dangerous. Before the internet and blogs, athletes did'nt really get their heads blown up or torn off so much until college. We as adults should remember that these kids are just that kids, as far as what happens on or off the field that is for their parents, coaches and administration to deal with. We should just enjoy watching these kids play now, nothing is promised for tommorrow. Take it easy on the kids, that's just my opinion.

That young kid from SD has had a great year. What some people don't realize that a Sophomore isn't expected to do the things this kid has done. I have watched him play, and its refreshing to see a young talent coming up in the SGV football area.

Every coach has internal problems or concerns with players. Mike is a good QB, but didn't Thomas put him in "Special Ed" classes last year to be eligible to play football? This year, didn't he get benched for disrepecting another coach at Covina, stating "Do you know who I am, I'm MIke f------ Mcdumbin"

Answer to the above: YES

DID, DID, I, I, sutter, Covina is expected to win tonight, BUT you need to really enjoy this year, because yor team loses alot of players next year and thats a fact JACK.

Maybe Thomas will have the "Stones" to set up a real pre-season schedule and play us over here!

Did I stutter? It's not about me, it's about reality. The Saints DO NOT STAND A CHANCE AGAINST US. Covina is playing its best football of the season and getting better and better each year meanwhile Coach Z keeps putting that Nickle Barbone kid on a pedestal which he ain't worthy of. San Dimas is not and never will be a Football School. SAINTS fans should feel lucky that Coach Darryl Thomas isn't going to run up the score on them because he has class. So shhs go talk about and make statements that don't matter - keep it up because you just don't realize how much better COVINA is than SAN DIMAS this year. It doesn't matter that I am putting 'fuel' out there for SD. They are just too small and they have internal problems at the quarterback position. Why did Coach Z ever take the chance with that Barrett kid? Where is he now? Did he abandon the Saints again like he did when he was a sophomore? Man SD is in trouble Thursday!

Enjoy this year because Covina and BP will reload in the next two years and Northview and SD are young. Check the programs at the games.

Covina will win tomorrow because they have more depth than SD, but I hope it just a good contest for the crowd.
