Heads up Arroyo fans. So your having a tough year and you've got a few problems. Arroyo has a long tradition of pulling it self up by the boot straps and getting serious about its football. Its only a matter of time. You think Singiser is doing a bad job? Hes got a few lemons and he's trying to make leamonade. You cant be at the top of your game every year. I remember back in the 70's we had a some great talent; but we had a few kids out of position and a coach with a do as I say attitude. I'll tell you one of the best Coaches I knew at Arroyo walks your sideline every Friday night (Jim Sefton) I agree with one of the previous bloggers If you want to know how to play Arroyo football you've got to have someone who knows the tradition and bleeds Black White & Blue. I dont know if he would be interested but there is an ex varsity coach over at Mountain View who is a great alum (Alonso) He was a heck of a football player too.

Arroyo fans (and detractors),

I am going to say something here that only you guys and others in the MVL will understand. It's no great revelation. It's pretty simple. But it's the truth. Each of the school's needs a coach who knows about his school i.e. either a graduate or a longtime relationship. Those are unique schools and you need coaches whose players feel they can relate to. I don't think there's another league quite like that. The MVL isn't a good place for an outsider to come into, not that it's happening.
Singiser has been at Arroyo for more than a decade, Koffler went to Rosemead and so on. I hope all of the MVL fans realize how good their collection of coaches is. They are all guys in unique situations and they fit them well. When three different guys get their teams to the semis inside of a five year period, it says something about the level of coaching.
About Arroyo, I don't think coaching is the issue. There's only so much coaches can do. If players don't give max effort or have mental lapses, then that's on them. I am not trying to blame kids at all or single anybody out. But it's very obvious that Arroyo's problems this year isn't coaching. The Knights are a team that played a tough nonleague and their record reflects it. They're also a team that doesn't out-talent Rosemead or South El Monte by enough of a distance to coast thru even a quarter of one of those games. Things like a dropped ball that should've been caught or a key penalty to negate a big run aren't things that the Knights can just shake off anymore. When four or five of those things happen in a game, be it the first or second quarter, they add up. On top of that, the Knights have made some catastrophic mistakes, too. These things happen. Look at South Hills. The Huskies have had some major breaks go against them this season. Coach Bogan even said something to the effect of "things have gone our way in recent years, this year they're not." Cycles, boys. Cycles.

Knights, if you are really from Arroyo stop by and share your concerns with the staff. As for what kind of a program Singiser inherited from MacKinnon back in 2003? Here are the facts: He got a team with a strong tradition of winning football. He also got to take over a program that had won 1 playoff game in the past 5 years (Singiser has won 3 CIF games in 3 seasons). He also got a program that was 17-17 the previous 3 seasons under MacKinnon with 2 back to back losing records in 00' & 01' (Which included a 42-7 loss to Rosemead). He also got a varsity team that had 2 returning one way starters. I am not slamming MacKinnon or the job he did. He was a helluva fb coach... but saying he handed Singiser a winning program is simply false. MacKinnon had a Hall of Fame type career, but his last 3 seasons were very, very average. And before you go on and on about the past 20 years, you'd better realize that Singiser has been on the Varsity staff for 12-13 of those seasons and was handpicked by MacKinnon to be his replacement when he quit Arroyo to go coach at Walnut.

To "Knights" hater,
Number one, I find it hard to believe that you are actually an Arroyo "fan" with the garbage you are throwing out there. As someone who has been involved with the program at Arroyo as both a player and a coach for 25+ years, I can tell you straight out that you are WAY off base with your comments about Coach Singiser and our program. Are you there every day to see what goes on and what they have to deal with? I'm guessing probably not. So you have NO IDEA what goes on every day at practice, etc., yet you can just sit behind your screen and throw out crap about our program just for kicks. Funny, we have the same staff that went 12-1 in 2004, and played South Hills tough in the qtrs last year. The players-and their effort,dedication,etc-are what make or break a team. You can have the greatest coaching staff in the world, but if your players aren't fully commited, then guess what-you will struggle. I could go on about a lot of things that you have mentioned, and if you are truly an Arroyo supporter, then you will know exactly who I am and where to find me.

NV VIKE

Fox sports game of week! LOL LOL

You need a lobatomy

NV Vike

By the time BP and Covina get to play you, you'll be 3-2 in league. Your players don't compare to the big boys...

Whatever your on, get off it, because it's really clogging your perception to think.

Jacks back,

Are you kidding me Northview would have lost if Slow Dimas didnt turn the ball? If you want to say that then Northview would have hung 60 on them if we didnt turn the ball over (3 turnovers just like them). Lastly on that covina rolling NORTHVIEW idea, you might want to get that thought out of your head because this game will be close just like it is every year. Look forward to both being 4-0 in league coming into this one and the league title being on the line, should be Fox Sports' game of the week.

"I Agree"...although obviously LA has fallen on some hard times the past few weeks, i do not think is it something that can be said, yet, is a prime example of what is in store for the program over the next few years. CO, definitely surging at the right time, perhaps even playing the best ball in the valley, SH, just kind of sanke bitten this year, but in no way shape or form would i say they are seeing a balance in power occuring in the san antonio league, SH will be be back. And if they get in the playoffs, what league champion would wanna have south hills coming to their school for a 1st round game? And the exact thing could be said for LA, imagine them being a 3rd place team going to some league champion for a 1st round game. Now i am not saying either would win, but it wouldnt be your normal 1 vs 3 opening round game. Not really too sure what is going wrong over at LA, i mean, they are generally the same exact team that started 4-0 with some very quality wins, but now are 0-4 the last four weeks, with some very uncharacteristic losses. Could it be the coaching, i dont know....are they worn down, perhaps...were they overhyped, maybe...but after saying that, this is in no way the demise of a program over all. They started off fast, and now seem to coming to a dramatic halt, but on the other hand, CO, who started very slow, with some wrinting them off, has suddenly hit the fast lane, and are a team to be looked at.
and lastly, did anyone really expect Diamond ranch to just come into the miramonte league and pick up where Garey left off, wasnt going to happen. this is a good program that draws from the diamond bar chino hills area....they are going to get good atheletes, its always just been a question of the coaching....i dont think a head guy as lasted more than 3 years there. this was a program that was going to be heard from, and in fact, are shaking things up in that league. remember, this is DR's second go 'round in the miramonte league, when the school 1st opened roughly a decade ago, they were placed in the miramonte league for a few years b4 leaving and now coming back. back then, they didnt win much in the league, but they were competitive and just babies....looks like they've all grown up huh...
jus my 2 cents

Doesn't Glendora have at least one soccer player that will kick FGs and Kick offs for the football team?

Never understood the "pooch" kick off that every parent at Damien said PasQie would do and mentioned he did at Damien when he coached there. It shortens the field for NO reason.

Going to see the game THURS and if GT pooches again. Well...'nuff said!

Hey ME,
Let's be real, a 53 yarder in practice, what the hell are you bragging about. Please tell him to work on 35 yards and in with a step and a half if he wants to help his team win. I just can't believe a varsity team uses a freshman kicker who is less than 50%. ME, he takes to long to get to the ball, watch him, he kicks with his toe, get him a flat nosed shoe with the front lifted, I know it does not look cool but his accurancy will skyrocket. If your not 80% from 35 yards and in (90%for PAT's) and kicking the ball into the endzone, your not much of a weapon. Glendora sure could have used a few more PAT's and short field goals this year. I wish him good luck, but he has alot of work ahead of him before you start saying he has skills.

look all u guys talking smack about covina could come watch us shutdown aaron harris and whoever else plays baldwin park on friday at district field and see what we can do....

Just so yall know....

From Freshman I spoke To:
AP89(GHS's Frosh Kicker)
Kicked a 53 yarder in practice..

I think he is also the 3rd string QB and starting safety..The kid has got some serious skill..Expect him to be a great kicker and player in the future...

DO NOT POST UNDER THE NAMES OF PLAYERS/COACHES UNLESS YOU'RE THAT PLAYER/COACH.

(did that really need to be said?)

this is the real david slover...i never said rowland should be on drugs because i respect their players and the progam that they run such as players like brandon and philip

so you should have some respect and class and put your real name and be mature.

thanx,
DAVID SLOVER

I agree with Anti17 about Oaks Christian that's a joke!
Did not know about the past 20 years of the Sierra league. I thought the hierachy was more recent in nature. But thanks for the info.

Ant17 do you see a shift going on with LA, SH, CO or is this year just when all the planets aligned themselves to make it a tough year for all 3? Very very surprised about SH and LA. Is Diamond Ranch getting that talent or is it moving East down the 210 and 15 fwys?

Viking Pride

Its fortunate for you that SD turned it over 3 times. If not they win, just like the Cardinals should have. You guys didn't pound them at all! They simply beat themselves just like the Cardinals did! Wake up dude, you in for a real treat come Covina.

Covina will roll Northview. You really don't have any play makers like Covina or SD.

Living Legend

You better listen to what SHHS is saying. MCD is NOT as good as Chavez-NO WAY

Living Legend

Out by half time, thats total BS! We saw three games of Covina and MCD got crushed. Terrible LB player. Should stick to offense only!

You are a JOKE! Bragging about Covina winning by 50+ to WHO?? Anybody good. ANSWER: NO

Bonita plays in what division DUDE. Where does Covina play?

Tell your coach to STEP Up and play the big boys!

Just a little FYI for the comment above on the reference to how many championships would SH, LA, or CO have won in the Sierra league? Ummm....if i am correct, LA won a few in the 80's playing in the sierra league along with CO, although i think it was just one. When attendance allowed it, LA played in the Sierra League and was successful, when their numbers diminished, it was time to move along and be placed in the appropriate division.
and secondly, i agree Covina is a very good football team, and i would say one of the SGV's prime representatives year in and year out, but they have absolutely no shot, along with the rest of that CIF division. No one will come close to beating Oaks Christian. And not that i am a fan of Oaks (i mean there is no reason that they should be playing in what is the equivalent of what,Division 9 or 11? That is a joke...
So hey A.T....ur take!..how is it that Oaks is allowed to srat in such a low division when the schoo, has been in existance less than a decade and already ahve what...3/4 CIF titles.
Jus my 2 cents...

Maybe he only has low tackles cause he is out by half-time...oh and your talking about schedules...did bonita not just lose to walnut, a team that Mcd and the colts hung 40 by halftime on....so man please...strength of scheudle, come on..bohi has played lets see pomona, northview, walnut, south el monte and san dimas...well these are teams that covina has already crushed or well crush...this is the last time i well comment to you...cause you have absolutly no clue to what you comment...in this what have you done for me lately business of football...mcd and covina won last week by 50....jc and bohi lost..enough said

CovinaFan, hey superstar, you can make all the adjustments you want, but if you don't hold onto the football, you can't put it into the endzone. I wonder if they taught you that in all your coaching clinics. Or maybe you watched that monday night game where the cardinals had the bears beat, I would guess that would be the next level your talking about. If the Cardinals hold onto the ball, Cardinals win. So make all your adjustments cause your going to need it against my Vikes. But were just going to pound you like we did to the saints. Adjust This!

Footballfan,

wow, you are out there. Amat has an enrollment of about 1400 and I believe Servite is under 1000, beck they are an all boys school. If these schools stepped into the D-6 to D-9 that their enrollment dictates they would also have 8 CIF championships in the last 10 years. Cry me a river sounds your mode instead of talk your smack.

Top 10 is coming!!!!!

OG- like'd your break down but I think it's a bit flawed. What do you think? I could be mistaken. are you talking historically or presently?

Cream of the Valley- Amat (no problem, Div I Strenght of schedule, ect)

Contender- Damien (plays at the second highest level, Div II and beat all the "players"). Contenders are for the top spot right? As in Number 1 Contender. Any one of the valley teams want Damien in their league, year after year?

No problem with the Players bracket except I think they belong behind the Contender bracket. How many championships would SH, LA, CO have if they played in the Sierra league?

Not trying to offend anyone just making an observation.

That's a great breakdown OG. I pretty much agree with everything you said. Look at Amat for example. I think that they won't even make the playoffs this year. They might even finish below .500. But, they could probably beat anyone in the valley. They are definitely on a different planet than everyone else.

football fan,
I understand your frustration. But, you also need to realize that Covina has played only one team that's any good and they lost. Maybe your Colts will gain the respect that you seek in the playoffs. Good luck.

SORRY MIKE,
you must have me confused with someone who was worth a crap back in the day. I do say kick the ball deep into a corner, if it goes out of bounds, oh well, you give it to them on the 35. If you get him trapped deep, great. I understand why they do it, special teams has been shakey for a few years now. Get some crazies who don't start and like to hit, let them run wild (in their lanes of course) and see what happens. Glendora has nothing to lose.
Funny how a few Glendora fans felt the same way about the loss, we will see what happens Thursday.

football fan, its not about the size of the school. Amat only has about 1500 kids in their school so take it easy.

Football Fan, Before you "let out some steam", get your facts right next time.Amat has 1500 kids enrolled.. Servite about 1,000.

Mater Dei, as a West Co fan I appreciate
your post, I admit that at this point of the season Mater Dei would roll over West Co, but thanks for putting to rest the idea that some of these fools suggested that Mater Dei took it easy on West Co, anyone who was there saw that it was a great game with two teams going at it hard.
Congratulations on your 28 to 7 win over St. John Bosco, & I wish you luck in that tough division your in.

Lets put some things into perspective regarding SGV football:

The SGV Hieracrchy of teams-

Cream of the Valley - Bishop Amat. There is no other team that represent SGV football other than Amat. Hands down they are the telling factor of SGV ball.

The Players - Los Altos, South Hills, & Charter Oak. These are the other top tier teams around SGV who continually have been good yearly and are at the top of the "Transfer Food Chain" in the SGV. Year in and out one of these teams will be in the hunt.

The Contenders - Damien, Glendora, Bonita, Diamond Ranch, West Covina, to name a few in this group. Other top teams in the SGV that have good seasons every now and then but stuggle to get to the annual dominance of the above teams year in and out.

Respectable - Northview, Arroyo, Covina, Rowland, Walnut, Diamond Bar etc. Schools like this pop up on the radar every now and then with remarkable seasons and are typically well coached. Covina & Rowland are examples this year. They play what is scheduled paly schools like them and everynow and then, produce something special.

Blue Collar - Gladstone, La Puente, Duarte etc. Just hard working schools that play solid football in there own world. They have no business playing any of the top three levels of SGV football but still are playing football in the SGV and that is what makes it all fun!

What category do you think your team falls into?:

WOW!!!!! football fan sound like he let some steam off. Covina is good but your right we cant put them is the same group as the other big schools so i dont think they should be in the top 10 either because these schools are bigger and stronger. Keep them with San Dimas, Bassette Northview, Baldwin Park and La Puente wow what a scheduel.....

I JUST WANT TO LET OUT SOME STEAM,..... SO HERE IT GOES....ALL YOU GUYS THAT THINK A TEAM IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERD A GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM HAS TO BEAT THE LIKES OF A TEAM LIKE BISHOP AMAT ,LOS ALTOS ,DAMIEN AND SO ON ARE FULL OF CRAP,HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU MATCH UP A SCHOOL LIKE COVINA AGINST A SCHOOL LIKE SERVITE OR EDISON AND EXPECT THEM TO WIN JUST SO YOU IN YOUR OWN MIND SAY THAT THEY ARE A GOOD TEAM.COVINA FOR EXAMPLE HAS ABOUT 1,300 STUDENTS AMAT I THINK 3500 OR SO SERVITE 400O THE NUMBERS ARE NOT EXACT SO DON'T GET ALL BENT.BUT YOU GET THE IDEA.SO COVINA ROLLS THE TEAMS THEY PLAY BECAUSE THEY ARE A SOUND TEAM .THEY PLAY SCHOOLS WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF STUDENTS,GIVE EM A BREAK AND GO WATCH THEM IN THE PLAY OFFS.SO ALL YOU GUYS WITH BIG HEADS THAT GO TO BIG SCHOOLS GET REAL AND FIND OUT THE TRUTH BEFORE YOU PUT DOWN A GOOD TEAM. IN THE YEARS PAST COVINA WAS IN DIV.9 SO HOW THE HELL CAN THEY COMPETE WITH DIV. 1 OR DIV 2 SCHOOLS ALL YOU GUYS THAT THINK COVINA IS WEAK ,ARE IDIOTS!!!THEY ARE GOOD IT'S JUST THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT !! .....I'M OUT..

FYI,

The Farm mentioned at Covina is in reference to the REAL farm at Covina (Future Farmers of America). Not necessarily the football farm everyone is referring to.

Living Legend (In your own mind)

Your boy's stats were correct as of last week before they were updated, so I suggest you read the blog earlier. I can't help it if your slow!

I wouldn't talk to much about his defensive talents, because they suck as a LB. 16 tackles in seven games is pretty piss pour! Maybe he should get some water, so he can makes tackles, rather then stand in the zone getting crashed. Not to mention, your COMP is poor, so where has he been? LOL

Last time I checked, Chavez is about 400+ yards past your boy while playing much stroger teams..

Get real, MCD is not the MVP, maybe in your own Legend Mind.

Do I need to bust a "Mike the Clone" here...

I AM SGV Athlete and you are not...[credit to Mike the Clone]

Anyway, when i said a W is a W, i mean it. 1 or 100, it doesn't matter. AMAT needs to come with this mentality all through league. The next 3 games are not going to be a walk in the park for the Lancers. I know from experience that Loyola BRINGS it every year, even if they are having a bad year. AND Crespi and Notre Dame are no jokes. And with homecoming this week and to make sure that AMAT is at least has a chance of the playoffs, they need to forget about all the glam and focus on the CELTS...JUST WIN, BABY!!!

Good Luck AMAT and the rest of the SGV the last 3 weeks...

It seems that some people just find it easy to comment when they know who you are and play games by posting with my name or similar name. Sorry for those that have been duped by these slimers in tall grass but , hey that's life!

It's happened to players as well where they have posted only to tell everyone it wasn't them!. Because someone used their football # and School; name.

So to the "nut" that loves to reference my posts and loves to use that "nut" word, again. Stop trying to rattle my cage, it worked once and got the best of me. But lucky for me, I changed my mind and went to Damien games again. Good to see that alot of people making alot of nice comments to my face . Try that some time!

Give it a rest. Move on the last time you came in here and got exposed as a fraud you used the Cub4ever tag and got run for what's it been 3 weeks?

AHS-

I see your point about the calls. I noticed and maybe you didn't when there was a personal pentalty after the extra point kick Damien was allowed to kick off from Ayala's 40 instead of 50. No one seemed to catch that. If you read my statement it was "Congrats to JV team win and Jason Reyes" and that was what I talked about. Nothing about your team and I did NOT brag about the win.(It's a JV game- and just a learning experience getting ready for Varsity) Just acknowledged J.R.'s great individual effort and team win. And ended it with kudos to the second string QB.

Sorry if you read it differently. You're right your team's played hard and with class. And like Morrison said "it's baffling" why you guys lose when you have a very good team". Hope that clears that up. Good luck the rest of the season.

Amat Calvary-

Again I am not , NOT, N.O.T. SGV Athlete. I didn't comment on Amat or their win, or anything else. I wrote down the ranking TOP TEN and said so. Sorry you did not read that, or didn't believe it. Anyway, SGV Athlete sure had some strong opinions. My comment " A win is a win and a whine is a whine" is in reference to exactly that point that some will still complain even after a win. Hope that clears that up. Good luck against Notre Dame. See you at the Loyola game.

Like I said to MATMTWTBAG: I hope Damien and Bishop Amat run the table and win league. Wishing you guys the best.

first off this blog is great stuff. I want to start off by saying that covina is NO FARM....
your team plays no one.... the Lancers are and should be #1 in SGV because of the teams it plays year after year. playing teams like esperanza canyon orange luthern hart mission veijo servit edison need i say more not that they play each team but they play in that level of program. bishop amat is well respected. also we dont give in to anyteam or any game our rankings are to important saying that we went easy on west covina is silly we play hard every game. school is not free so when its game time im not letting anyone play for me i work tooo hard and i waited my turn. last why do you blogs keep putting each other down so much all your teams are in good competition for your div. good luck i will ck in again.

Aram,
I can respect where your coming from, but let's remeber what kind of program he took over. He was handed over a winning program, and your correct when you say it's personal, we take a lot of pride in last 20 years of Arroyo football and what Coach MacKinnon brought to the program. I don't see the same discipline and hard-nose football being played at Arroyo, not the way it's always been. Many people that have been involve with the program over the last few years will tell you the same-thing.....
If he was winning and keeping up with our tradition, we all would love him. Instead he has a chip on his shoulder about now doing things his way, his way sucks. He's not that good of a coach and needs to go. D.J needs to come back so we can get back to ball control, running it down people's throat and strong defense (Arroyo Knights Football), if not let's hire someone else.

oh my poor shhs,

how come you left off rushing totals for these two quarterbacks, the offense they both run is called the "spread option".....seems to me that in name alone the offense has to do not only with throwing the ball but running...now dont get me wrong i think your man Chavez is having a great year...but Mcd not only has throwen for 14 td's (your stats are wrong)...he has also rushed for an extra 13 and 600 yards....also when Jeff Chavez is gettting a drink of water, McD is knocking people out at middle linebacker (which makes what he is doing on offense that much more impressive)...so just please stop...McD was the mvp last year and what he is doing to follow up this season is amazing....

Yeah,

Regarding Los Altos the main problem is their
QB is to small 5'7" is just too small. You can't make good decision's on opposing defenses throwing on your back foot every passing down. Coach Gano mentioned pulling the cord. LA is in big trouble. I say pull it now!

Hey Buck what's your take on our kicking game I understand you were a kicker. I say kick that sucker out of the end zone just like that kid who was launching those rockets that night when we played Damien. Yikes those babies are still in orbit.

Out!

any los altos people on line?-what is going on?-4 losses in a row-probably hasnt happened since the sixties-at least!-ive been to a couple of the losses-close yes but los altos is supposed to win those-they definetly get the vote for the most underachieving team in the valley!-playoffs are GONE!

Knights,

I am not going to get into a game of "what have you done for me lately?" about a coach who was 12-1 two years ago and in the semis. He's won two league title and went further in the playoffs last year than the first place team. I think you've got a personal issue with Coach Singiser, because you're grasping at straws trying to find flaws with the way he's managed the program. You need to take a look around and realize NOBODY in the league has a winning overall record this season.

vikings beat sd!! oh yeah!! vikes all the way!!

Brian Tabatabai,
I'm not sure of what happened at South with the nephew, but more than one person is at fault (the parents, the head-coach, school counselors etc.) and your right, from what I hear he played at Temple and should have known what to do, but have also heard that at South the school administration does nothing to help their program. Our program at Arroyo is already on it's way to being ruined, I have been to a few games and spoken with many former players and we all agree (things are not looking up). We need someone to step-up. I just can't see Singiser in charge of our program, we need a change. Bring Urias over, I think he would do one hell of a job. GO KNIGHTS

Mike,

By "improved kicking" I meant the Freshman kicking the FG & PAT (nailed both). The kickoffs are another story. Different kicker, but I know they are trying to do that pooch kick thing. Personally, I have seen the wisdom/argument in most everything the coaching staff has done, but this ploy I just don't get. I'm sure that kid and I know the Freshman can kick it further (to the 10 or 15 at least) and give us a chance to pin them back a bit more. I understand there is a greater risk of a big return, but that squib at the end of the half still got returned so... Oh well, I'll admit I don't know as much as them and respect their judgement.

i think wilson should give Tim Gilmore the ball ALOT more. i think he can top Bernal and Harris.

Aram,
What's going on ? Do you have an opinion or anything to say about Singiser, Can't admit when your wrong.... Things are only going to get uglier for Arroyo, It's only a matter of time (hopefully we can get rid of him before he ruins the program completely).

Greetings!

I am Mike the Clone and you are not!

Plaid Man I have to agree with you on this one, if there is anything like a good loss that was it. I guess after sitting in a tube for 4 hours while some sniffling snotty nose kid uses the barf bag as a coloring book flying back from the UCLA game anything is pretty.

But seriously, we played them very close despite what the score tells you. Eventually you knew that they were going to key on our “franchise Jordan Edwards and from here on out expect that. Another thing I want to mention I watched a lot of the Chino Hills guys trying to strip the ball out of our hands. I’ve notice that the last couple of weeks. Coaches are seeing that we carry the ball really loose and are starting to key on that.We better nip that bad habit in the bud before that opens up another can of worms to haunt us. We have been fumbling a lot lately. We got lucky on that ball that was stripped and went forwards and out of bounds for a slight gain.

The passing game was looking a lot better if the guys will just hold on to the ball. I counted at least four times where the ball has in the hands of the receivers and was dropped. Give me those I want those! And during that game the timing slowly improved as the game progressed and that was all due to having one quarterback back there “Coach P was creative finally, too bad it’s in week seven. We went to the shotgun a little, stuck with one kid at QB and gave the offense half a chance and opened things up too. I think I only counted one false start.

I disagree with you on our kicking game it still is whack! We cannot keep spotting them the ball at the 35-yard line and expect those kids on defense to hold every time you just can’t expect that from those guys.

That return for the touchdown was just downright due to poor tackling three guys had that runner in their arms but couldn’t finish him off and keep him from scoring.

We are about even with Chino Hills what you saw from Chino Hills was a mirror of us. That’s about where we are right now. No use hashing up old should haves, could haves. and would haves. If we stick with what we did last Friday minus the mistakes and dropped passes I like our chances to run the table as you say. Too bad it's week seven going on week eight the aboved mentioned should have all been taken care of in week three. But oh well, you can’t expect more out of this group of kids in week seven, that's just where the coaching staff has them at right now.

Damien will spank Chino Hills only because Damien is so much better than the rest of us and is a lot deeper personnel wise. Damien will just wear them down and won't let them up.

Out!

Viking Pride

Get a clue Dude! You apparently don't have any concept of football or have coached it making a statement like that.

Adjustments are a major part of any sport.. I guess the next level of play doesn't teach that or the thousands of coaches clinics held during the summer months.

The Vikings will get killed BY THE FARM...

Mr. C, you have to be kidding... complaining as usual after a win... I look at the score and see a win... you look at the score and see something different... the team has mixed it up and winning... you might not like to win i guess cause you would prefer to lose and play QB that is not getting it done... you cannot compare last year to this year different head coach... running a two quarterback offense works for some teams and Amat is 2- 0... sure they should beat teams like Chaminade and St. Francis... can we stop calling out our coaches because they are trying to win... you obiviously are a parent or close relative to someone on the team and you do not understand football... throwing int's in the red zone is not OK... just because the field is shorter does not mean you throw the ball to the other team... Amat had run the ball for over a 150 yards a game (I think)... do not know actual stats... you do not have to throw to win i.e. Amat in the 90's... 5- 8 for 100 yards and rush for 200 and play DEFENSE!!! like i said before we need to support our team not divide it... calling out kids for trying just shows how LOW you will go... Amat keep winning!!! Go get the CELTS this week... Let's get another W!!!

Damien Dad, You are nuts. First off, bragging about a JV win?? How about that home town officiating? In that game Ayala had 4-5 plays of 50-60 yards called back on penalties, including touchdowns. Those officials better go to confession soon.
Varsity, where it really matters. Damien struggled with an 0-6 Ayala team until the second half, when Ayala's defense wore out. Ayala sports 16 sophomores at the varsity level. Almost the entire defense, and all but one O-lineman had no varsity experience before this year. (Perhaps another reason for the Damien success in the JV game is the number of underclassmen that play atthhe varsity level only) Not much to brag about. Damien is supposed to be a powerhouse, but they did not dominate a young team that they should have pummeled. Props to Coach Morrison though for his kind words after the Ayala game to another publication about the Ayala team. He has some class.

I don't know about phillip chase being #1 qb stat wise ,but as far as getting it done i would take him over all these qb,than again stats don't mean nothing its about winning and winning only and this kid has a hell of alot of heart, that is what makes this rowland team so good heart with out that you got nothing.
Aram i know you get bagged on fron rowland fans but all in all i personally think you do a hell of job exposing sgvfootball i know you can't be right about everything who is.

WHO OR WHAT IS PHILIP CHASE?

Such a thing as a good loss? Hard to put those words together, but I can't help but feel that way about that Glendora/Chino Hills game for our Tarts. We played right with them (outgained them, in fact), had a good drive going from the 23 down to their 35 late in the game to take the lead and probably the win, but came up short. The offense played it's most balanced game yet (actually, they shut down our run game a bit and forced us to pass...but hey! we made some plays and moved the ball on a tough D). The kicking game looked much better and Oh that Tarten D! It was back and at it's best in weeks! Gave up just 7 points until that late TD when trying to force a turnover. If only...that Kickoff return at the end of the half as time ran out was probably the difference. What a killer. Why do I feel so positive though? Well, if we beat a good (but beatable) Chino team next week, we should run the table and get that 3rd playoff spot. If our passing & kicking game continues to improve, it might be real fun going in as a low seed again (remember Hart last year?...we had 'em and let them off the hook, but it was a great game to go see). Still, at 4-3 right now having beaten 6-1's Covina & Rowland, 5-2 Duarte and 4-3 CO with losses to 6-1 CH and 5-2's Capo Valley & Damien it's been a solid year and still makes this one of the best teams in this valley. Come on out Thurs. when your team doesn't play and watch a good game in a great atmosphere. Go Tartens!

Aram,
Looks like the Raiders were able to win regardless huh? Let the coaches coach, you just worry about writing about what you know (which is not much) and stop trying to slam The Raiders. One player does not make a team, it was proven...

OG i am a player from south hills ok and im man enough to admit rowland beat us pretty good but ask them....it was a battle...and we missed 3 field goals....and u have no idea! saying we dont have talent is like saying you do..its wrong..the huskies lost 4 players for the season a both way lineman and also another d-lineman,a linebacker/te and a SAFTEY....and nic curry who already has offers from 2 colledges was injured and out.....how can you say west co is gonna punk us...they are 3-4 with two players suspended indefenitly or however u spell that....oh by the way nick had about 320 yards of offense by himself last game...so in closeing OG get a clue or give up on life

Sgv athlete is Not Mr C.

Missed the St. Francis game and the Chaminade game but hey a win is a win and a whine is a whine.
And I think you won both games!

Top Ten Rankings:

#1) Damien ( Damien calls in the "Marine" and Sack Town 7 Show )
#2) tie: Bishop Amat and Rowland (putting up and making people shut up, almost!)
#4) Bonita (Can't win them all!)
#5) Covina (Mc D is a stud on both sides of the ball)
#6) Diamond Ranch (2-0 in league, strenght of schedule)
#7) Charter Oak ( 4-0 after Damien loss)
#8) Baldwin Park ( Hey they win and that's all that matters)
#9) Glendora ( imploding because of off field nonsense, spitting team apart publicly-bad form!)
#10)San Dimas ( Any team with John Joe and Nico Barbone has to be on this list)

Now the real season starts!

great win for rowland what can i say aram but, what the hell did i tell you at the start of the season when you thought i was crazy, dude i been watching high school football over 20 yrs and i like to think i know something and when i was calling your name at the game you didnt look up whats up with that no fan or blog support dude your my idle lol, just wanted to say hi or buy you a hotdog, this was a great players win and you could'nt ask for more every kid step up and the better team won ,whos #1 now ,like i give a crap. Just got back from a recruiting trip to uc davis with my son chad #4 and saw anthony hile from damien there and his family very nice people ,nice school and good game.

hey make an adjustment, "if you had the team," so many people are quick to say how they would coach the team or how their way would work. Bottom line is, if your team doesn't turn the ball over so many times, then they would have probably beat my Vikes. Typical slow dimas parents, you don't get your way so you have to blame someone other than your own kids. Try holding onto the ball, you might win more games.
Go Vikes, bring on the Farm!

hey slover why you say that

Oh, a CROOK who could throw, who would have thought that. Glendora had, what I believe to be their best all-round game, even if they lost. I know, some of you say losing is not an option but they did what I thought they should do, try new things. The play calling was 150% improved, no one knew what play was coming most of the time. Chino Hills had some coach yelling out what was coming and he was usally wrong, a huge change from previous weeks. New run plays, more (shorter and quicker) passing plays and wide sweeps. Except for the dropped balls, they basically went up and down the field without much problem. Coach "P" (and his staff) have definetly stepped up their game and starting to show why Coach"P" is loved by so many Glendora fans. The defense played extreamly well (to many high tackles, you can't run without legs), take away those two long runs, Chino Hills had less than 130 yards in total offense. I know they changed their defense a little but I do not know why they took big #86 out of the scheme. he is the only DB/safety they have to tackle a big runningback, I know it is hind sight, but I do not think those long runs would had happened with him in there. The kick return with 7 seconds left in the first half, welllllll, that was just bad luck and a result of a poor kicking came. I would have called the same play, the scrib kick just went to far. Still offering to buy the kid a kicking shoe.
If Glendora can keep this style of play going and stop shooting themselves a couple times a game, they should have a very good finish to league play. On offense, I still think they need a few more misdirection plays to free up Edmond. Coach "P", still looking for a reverse to #3 plus Crook bootlegs and bootleg passes (I saw one last year) and have the receiver crash down on the d-end creating a traffic jam going the other way. On defense, get #86 back in the game and put more pressure on the QB with blitzes, we make good QB's look great with 6 or 7 seconds to throw.
Another thing, I have not heard of coach infighting, not sure where that came from. Saw a lot coahing and adjusting going on during the game, hell, I did not know they even had a whiteboard to draw plays on, nice job coaches. It was great to see much progress. You need to run the table, LET'S GO GLENDORA, YOU CAN DO IT, YOU GUYS REALLY LOOKED GOOD.

Los Altos began with a promising season. Live out in palmdale, ca. checked every game. Suddnely, they are fighting for the playoff spot. What happend? Sources indicate it is the QB position. Is this their only option?

In the SEM- Arroyo game is that really the first time Arroyo has lost in consecutive years to the same MVL opponent this decade? I could have sworn someone beat them two years in a row a few years ago? Gabrielino? I think It was. I'll have to look it up.

I was at the Northview San Dimas game and I was really impressed by Nico Barbone for being so young he made very few mistakes. And if someone could HELP ME who is #74 on Northview he made plays on offense and defense they were triple teaming him and he was still shedding off to make the play. He had 2 bad long snaps on a punt and pat though.

Glendora is a very good team!I think everybody knows that by now! They have good wins against very good teams like Charter Oak,Covina, and Rowland...They have losses to very good teams like Chino Hills and Damien(Not CAPO..no offense but they were very, very, very lucky to beat GHS)

So, the question is...Will a 7-3 record be good enough to get them to the playoffs?Let's hope so because they sure as hell deserve it!They will be a tough matchup for any team...

ALSO, I think GHS really got away from what they do best...RUN!!!A lot of the time last night, they were forced to keep lobbing it up and they actually did pretty well...Unfortunately, they got away from what they do best and were unable to wear down a pretty good CH team....Give them all the credit in the world! That was a well coached group of boys!Hats off to them and I hope they continue another one of their great seasons...

Los Altos won the game...( damien vs LA) lost the war..Damien shell shocked them...Put them in another world...too bad!!They are getting what the deserve.Going 0-4 after game, think about the last play they should be 0-5 ha ha....hope you go
0-8 the rest of the year..

Yes Jon Joe is probably one of, if not thee best receiver in the valley, but he gets double and triple teammed every game. Also, he doesn't have the greates quarterback throwing to him either

OG's team analysis week 7:

Amat - Verti keep on winning the close ones and restoring your respect as the best team in the valley, but not having the best season in the valley...

Los Altos - the wheels have come off the bus big time!

Charter Oak - the wheels are rolling towards a league championship! Found another receiver?

Diamond Ranch - I guess playing up did help!?

Bonita - Ouch, the Aram jinx hits Chavez hard - player of the week to a lowly Walnut loss. Gots ta hurt.

South Hills - Looks like the staff of the century can't win without talent. Aram jinx again as Lamaison get dragged after the big write up.

Covina - has played NOBODY tough at all, sorry Glendora that now includes you, but can still make the CIF Finals - playing nobody cause they're obviously talented.

Glendora - Did you really think you could win league? CIF one and out again.

Damien - Now here is a team. But the division is killer, good luck!

Baldwin Park - the new Aaron Harris over/under is tap outs per game. Next week 4 1/2 vs. Covina.

San Dimas - Upset BP only to get upset themselves.

Northview - Most improved team to now and potential coach of the year!

West Covina - your turn to punk the Huskies, don't let the league down!

Good luck to all and take your smack like a man!

The OG

y'all should drug test rowland

SGV.. If Dorian wells catches’ Carrillo’s pass. He scores a touchdown. The ball was right in his hands. If he wasn’t so tired he would have caught the ball he is a receiver right? So if the other players do their job it would have been a major guess appearance. Let’s see this look like a Jr All American game for Bishop Amat offense. Wells passing yards 2-2 11 yards. Carrillo passing yards 3-5 41 yards. Total yards passing 52 yards? Carrillo had this many yards in his first game as a varsity player. Wells rushing 13 carries for 34 yards? What’s that 2.8 yards a carry? I don’t understand what wells did at QB that made a big difference. (NOTHING).First 3 possession 3 and out what was that? Dorian I believe had fumbled the ball twice. SGV the coach better have a better plan than this if AMAT would even have a chance in the Serra league. It was a win but what a horrible game to watch. Dorian left Dorian right Dorian left? This was not fooling the other team. I sure hope the coach changes this game plan. That was terrible play calling we were lucky to come out of that stadium with a win. Let’s give it up to the DEFENSE on this game not the offense. I’m not just talking about Carrillo and the QB spot what about the receivers how many times did they throw to Mike Linares in this game? The coach is just not punishing Carrillo he is punishing a lot of players this is not a one man team. This is what I heard last night where is Carrillo is he hurt? Dorian is an outstanding athlete but what are you doing to Dorian and the other players? Dorian is the QB, REC, PUNT RETURN, KICK RETURNER AND RUNNING BACK. OPPS I FORGOT CORNER BACK. Is Dorian Bishop Amats only player, whole team? Give me a break. If the coach continues with this the team will dislike him as a coach. He can’t turn players off and on like this. This is a team sport. Carrillo was leading the Serra league in passing up until last game with 920 yards passing in 6 games he might have had 5 interceptions as well but if you go back to last years QB who never came out of the game even if we were winning 36-7 had 1597 yards in 10 games and 10 interceptions did the coach pull that QB hell no. Why? Bishop was 6-4 for the season and 4 of the 6 wins were against teams from the San Gabriel valley. No disrespect to the teams in the San Gabriel Valley. We still love you Rowland Raiders (Good game last night Chase brothers Philip and Joey) Chad Noris,William Seamon ,Leonard Moreno and Rene Smalls.Do you remember the scores from those games? Why did you not give Carrillo more playing time for this year so he would have had more experience in these games? Bad coaching that’s why. The coaches were not looking for the future they were looking for wining the season. That did not happen….Is coach Verti giving up on this season for next season? Coach Verti better get his head out before it’s too late. SGV you were right Wells at QB was not a BIG surprise like the coach had planned does he think that just any player could come in and do the job of QB. Dorian at QB did not work at all so let’s see what happens next game. If you think X was not doing the job were is the back up QB that tells you a lot about this coach. Who was number 13 he got decleted and there was not even a play going on that was embarrassing.

Fact when throwing in the Red Zone it is real difficult because the defenders have such a small amount of space to cover. This increases the possibility being picked off. Some one should let coach Verti know this. Xavier has been picked off in 2 times in the red zone in crucial times in the game. Does the coach not believe in his run game in the Red Zone?

NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE DECSION TO SIT THE QB IN THIS GAME MR C

Big Fan of Sd WR

I would agree with you. The offensive backs have done a great done with the run which should open up your passing game.

However, your QB is really bad and that effects Jon Joe.

If I was coaching that team, the adjustments would be made to accomodate the talent of your QB.

Shorter passing plays to all receivers and maybe your QB would be able to improve his completion percentage which would build the kid's confidence.

Maybe someone needs to look at the head coach and slap him into shape........ WAKE UP COACH, ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!

i see none of you would talk about rowland....except the raider mom....but you people had them to lose this week saying they havent played any one, and if they had south hills scedual it would be diffrent...well i think they just showed you guys up...whos weake now?

BETTER WATCH OUT FOR ROWLAND

I hate to say this but, I,m ok with the bonita loss, they were getting lazy. It was a non league game and will put them back to the work for the win mode with renewed fight. I'm a odds man and the undeafed record was bound to have a loss. They will win the next 3 and take league!

justplay has spoken, now make room for the trophy!

Living Legend(In your own mind)

Who is leading the valley in passing?

Chavez has 16 TD no pics
MCD has 12 Td 4 pics
Chavez 1640 yds/234 per game
Mcd 1057 yds/176 per game

Who's schedule is really tougher.. Pretty simple answer

ENOUGH SAID

Big Fan At SD WR and Big Red

Your exactly right.. Jon Joe is a good talent that they need "to get the ball to". Now lets look at that for a minute??

The run get established which should set up the passing game and Barbone is simply playing his heart out.

Then they have a QB that just can't seem to get it in his hands, or if you saw the last game anybody hands.

This QB will kill SD. The coaching staff needs to make ADJUSTMENTS to make it work or they need to change the QB.

SD has some great talent, but the coaches are not making the adjustments..........

That One Guy

Thank you for admitting that besides Glendora you guys play weak teams.

Who cares if you beat teams babdly that you should beat. What a piss pour answer.

Maybe you are the one who really sniff's the glue...

Billy B

Your right on about Covina. Plus, they think they are a farm, but a true farm plays good teams like Oaks Christian does. Covina a farm, get real, play some real COMP..

Knights, why would you want to hire a guy who couldn't even keep track of his nephew (Lee Aguirre) to ensure that he would graduate with the needed courses to qualify for a 4 year university. Urias maybe a good field coach, but to put him in charge of a program would ruin Arroyo.

BONITA'S DEFENSIVE LINE REALLY NEEDS TO WAKE UP...WALNUT IS AN ALL RUSHING TEAM LAST NIGHT GAME HE PROBABLY NOT PASSED(QUARTERBACK)ONLY 10% OF THE GAME ALL ELSE WAS RUSHING!
IF BONITA HAD THEIR DEFENSE LINE UP TO PAR, AND THE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN DID THE RIGHT STUFF,IT WOULD OF BE A DIFFERENT GAME. SOME RECEIVERS MISSED ALOT OF CATCHES, CHAVEZ GOT SACKED "4" TIMES!!COME ON LINEMEN PROTECT YOUR QUARTERBACK!AT LEAST IT WAS A "NON LEAGUE" GAME!!!!!NEXT 3 WILL TELL THE STORY

Big Reg,
Missed you at Spires.

Aram,
Hope you got in on this latest Bull Market run.

Great game NView!

There were alot of big plays on both sides, NView kids just came out to play. Good luck the rest of the way.

SaintB

By the way, for all the Jon Joe watchers. He had two great TD catches vs. NView.

Damien wins!

Great to see Justin Luiten have a big game! Stuffed the middle ALL night! This kid is only going to get better. 6'4" 290 and can move!

Great to see "The Front Seven" take control of the game and sustain pressure. That four man front is TOUGH! to control. Gallardo, Uche & others bring something different to the table- ALWAYS!

With these "SEVEN BIG MEN" it's like a bad dream that doesn't end! "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" ,I like that!

On offense! Simply the Chris Marine Show again! That's three game balls and counting! Great running style! "Get out of may WAY!!! and Touchdown!!

De La Torre and Smitty were outstanding! The O-line is solid across the line ! Well done! Coach Bubba Bryant is the man!

Special props to John Rabe. What a difference an alignment makes. Having a monster time on the D-Line! Walsh always special. Reminds me of Too Tall Jones from the Dallas Cowboys - just makes plays, plays steady and is solidly dependable. Big game again!

Great to see Aaron Sealy running the ball. Remember him when he played summer basketball as a freshmen with 40 players (no joke) on the sidelines and Coach Muncey trying to get everyone in a game! It was a "madhouse" but this kid always stood out for his hustle! #80 I wanted to see you score so bad! Next week for sure!

Dejavu, all over again!

Where did I hear the Muhammad Ali anology? Hummmm!

Frazier beats Ali and is smoked by George Foreman! Frazier is never the same!

Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!! (0-4)

Sometimes when you play better competition you respond and other times you fold!

Charter Oak after Damein 3-0
Los Altos after Damien 0-4
Damien after St John Bosco 4-1

Big Reg why are you so testy! Calm down I know Time Warner is taking over but man you have to relax.

Man it's all about fun here and having ones own opinion, well at least I thought it was.

The crack statement was in jest!

Rowland 24 South Hills 14

Brandon Bolden! That's the big guy's name that made that awesome interception and ran it 70+ yards for the touchdown, and he's a lineman!! Great game, I felt kind of bad we beat them at their homecoming game..it was an at the edge of your seat kind of game. Joe's kid did a great job as usual, he's a beast! The first half of the game was a little nerve wracking our defense just couldn't penetrate to the QB..Second half was a different story. The Chase brothers stepped up to cover the loss of Rene Small, and did their usual outstanding job. Couwenhoven had two key defensive plays, sacking the Quarterback and blocking a field goal attempt, and he turned up the pressure on the quarterback the second half. Like I said, it was a great game and it further goes to show that Rowland has the right stuff.

greatgame you cant blame it on GHS QB's you have to rmember pasquerella was flip floping every other series for the last 3 weeks. So don'y put the blame there both the future qb and #10 had passes dropped and the offense was not all together.

i was there to and #10 crook seem a lot more comfrtable back there. at least coach was being with one guy

crack

you are an idiot. not only can you not write clearly but you paraphrased exactly what i wrote go back to school, and stop posting on here you are making yourself look stupid. no wonder you don't sign your real name - i'd be ashamed if i couldn't write or think or articulate either. you must have a yellow stripe down the middle of your back you coward.....

BIG REG

go look up the word 'paraphrased' and get back to us you clown

Damien will hammer Chino Hills and glendora and Chino Hills are even teams and both are toss ups will go first round be embarrassed and gone

I said this from the beginning! The Wr from SD is getting screwed. He is a major talent and a real nice kid, probably too nice. No he's nice but San Dimas is just taking this kid for granted because he's not a complainer. Has definite Div I skills and is stuck playing second fiddle to the system. I know the coach is doing what's best for the team but on an individual basis this kid is awesome.

Put Jon Joe on Damien, Bishop Amat or Bonita's team and all the records fall.

Seen him play second fiddle in basketball to that blonde haired kid with the flat top that shot 3's for no reason other than the spotlight when J.J. was easily the best player on that team. Has been since he was a Soph! Easily one of the classiest kids in the Valley and certainly one of it's most talented!

Big fan! In every sport you play! (still shaking my head!) Always a privedge to see you play!

SHOCKER!!! Walnut beat Bonita?????? info please...

and about the AMAT game, AMAT didn't win by three scores, but three points. but don't matter if its one or 100, a W is a W...the score was 7-0 in favor of Chaminade until the middle of the 3rd quarter and finally the Lancer offense came alive and started making some drives. The "BIG" surprise was suppose to be that #2 Wells would be starting a QB, but it didn't seem to help much until AMAT finally got its run game going in the 2nd half. #7 Carrillo made a few guest apperences, but nothing major. This was a good win for the Lancers and i think it has openned their eyes to what the Serra league is going to be like this season.

Good Luck to AMAT and all the other SGV teams the last 3 games if the regular season...

Trouble in West Co, their two speed players that were suspended for the Rancho C. game were suspended again tonight, I've even heard there could be expellsions from the school. If so, West Co's season just took a turn for th
