Duarte is going back to where it all started ...

NWA is nice, but whatever happened to Fila Fresh Crew?
But first, one of Aram's thoughts: As a chubby, half-white/half-Armenian kid growing up on the outskirts of San Marino, I couldn't help but feel like NWA's hit album "Straight Outta Compton" was made just for me when it debuted in 1988-89. Finally, no more Al B. Sure or New Order. I felt like Yella, Eazy and Dre were saying the things I just couldn't. They were telling it like how it really was on the streets. I just felt like shouting out "That'swhatI'mtalkn''bout" when I heard that album.
And then to hear former San Marino football standout Matt Solomon yell "Straight Outta Compton" while warming up for a Huntington Jr. High track meet, it was a sign that finally the message of the streets was being heard. It was really very moving.
Because of that, each time Compton is mentioned, a certain part of me has to pour some out for the pioneers of Rhythmic American Poetry (West Coast stylee).
Compton pertains this week because that's where the Duarte Falcons will be playing Verbum Dei in the semifinals of the Mid-Valley Division playoffs. We don't yet know if it will be at Centennial High or Compton College. But it don't matter, does it?
In addition to knowing it was the berth place of NWA, here are some other things you should know about Compton.

Good Luck Durate! Verb is good, but if you don't play with unneeded fear, then you have a shot. And for everyone hatting on Coach Crutchfield, stop it because he did somthing that the Montview league has not done in years, and that is when in the playoffs. By the way I use to work in Compton, and it is not that bad. Just don't go sight seeing at night with the lights off in your car. You may get a rude awakening.
ALL TRUE SGV FANS OF FOOTBALL. PLEASE COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT. COVINA, LOS ALTOS, CHARTER OAK AND DUARTE, WILL NEED YOUR HELP. GO OUT AND PACK THE HOUSE! WE WANT TO GET TO THE FINALS AND WE WILL NEED THE 12TH MAN IN THE STANDS. PLEASE COME OUT EARLY AND LETS SHOW THOSE OTHER GUYS WHAT THE SGV IS ALL ABOUT.
GO SGV FOOTBALL!!!!!
well with all this being said you have to give credit to Duarte for doing what they have done so far they played tough teams early and took there lumps an rolled in league but i do think that they are by far one of the fastest teams in the Valley and have talent to spare but i didnt like how at times when up heavy on teams they would continue to Throw deep and go for score with their starters in ..i felt that showed no sportsmanship on their part. But thats how they do things at Duarte and you have to give them there due for now. All i can say is i hope that they continue to go foward in the playoffs and give some respect to the montview league. But they better watch out cuz there are a lot of teams with a bitter taste in their mouth and will be ready for D.high next season...GOOD LUCK FALCONS...
boomer,
We lost the first 2 games of the season. You are right. We have taken care of the rest of the games. Gladstone outplayed us? I have no idea what game you were looking at. I was there. Most important WHO WON? OK I will give you Ganesha. Workman better than Duarte? I don't know who is feeding you this garbage but if I recall correctly The Mighty Falcons Used them to clean up the field.Yes, I said the Mighty Falcons.I guess where we really difer is you think we have 3 boys that make up the team. I say it takes all the boys to make them The Falcons. Look at the scoreboard. Last but not least by any means. If Coach Crutchfield sucks I think you should tell him to his face. He might be able to enlighten you a little bit.
FALCON PRIDE..........
seriously, i have nothing against duarte, but the coach there sucks, he is just blessed with outstanding athletes. i mean i'm happy for them being in the simi's, its really good for mountview league, but all they really do is bounce the runs outside. thats all. once they face a team who is good at containing the run, then their running game is stoped. they have speed, thats about it. gladestone outplayed them in the first half, but came out like crap in the second. if they really were a great team with good coaches, they wouldn't of got their asses handed to them by monrovia and glendora, and why the hell are they playing ganesha?? do they really wanna feel good about shutting out a team who hasn't won a game besides a forfit in years?? i really think workman was better then duarte, but they came out not ready. all duarte has is thoman, harris, and goldsmith.
The Game? Haha ... Compton's second most famous rapper is DJ Quik. And then, it goes back to MC Eiht. Not sure The Game is on that level, yet.
AT,
C'mon AVAZAG!
How bad was it really on the outskirt streets SAN MARINO.
Aram, you're going to cover a game in Compton? And, why didn't you mention The Game, yo. He's just the biggest rapper to come out of there in the last few years. Anyways, be careful and peace out of there as soon as the game's over.
AT - When I said in another thread that I'd take playing the finals in a dirt field in Compton if we ever got that far...
I was just kidding!
can u give a censes on covina
