IMPORTANT: Playoff threads are up ...
Try to keep the discussions about each division confined to that division's specific thread. I know this is hard, but try. Also, please make predictions. If you want to do first round only or go all the way to the finals with it, I don't care. Just do them!

What's your take on St. Paul and St. Francis' chances this week? I think both of them could advance. St. Paul has played some inspired football lately.
Also Joe, good luck to your son Chad, he's a heck of a player and I hope he has a great game.
Joe crazier things have happened but wouldn't that be something? anyways good luck to Rowland and may the whole SGV bring it this Friday
In the Southwest Division a key game to look at is Charter Oak vs. La Mirada. Do the Chargers get lazy since they beat La Habra? or will the Chargers continue to squeak out victories? Remember the Playoffs are about four quarters of play and not just big plays. However, the Chargers enter the playoffs just like a team four years ago that changed to a sophmore quarterback midseason and that team won CIF. If the Chargers play consistent, moving the ball down the field and get out of the first round and give their sophmore quarterback some confidence wouldn't it be nice to see a Charter Oak vs. West Covina semi-final rematch
That prep rally thing was pretty neat Aram, you run a great blog.

I'm with you 1fan, I know Mayfair is a hell of a team but West Co is starting to hit on all cylinders now, I think they got a shot, & this
won't be as one sided as many think.
Kind of off topic so I thought I would post here.
Their has been a lot of griping regarding how CIF chooses playoff teams and leagues. It is important to remeber that CIF does not actually do this. The schools align themselves in leagues and choose the method for determining playoff participation. It does not have to come down to a coin flip. There are several leagues that actually play it off on the field if their is a tie and one or more teams would be left out of the playoffs. For example, if the prep league had a situation similar to the Miramonte league, Los Altos and Diamond Ranch would have played a quarter on Saturday morning and the loser would have played Bonita for a quarter to determine the two playoff representitives. Regardless of their preleague schedule all the teams "earned it" the same amount during league and I wish more leagues would use a method like this.
CIF does control how the leagues are grouped in the post season. I think a combination of the Valle Vista, Rio Hondo, Montview, and Mission Valley leagues would be very comepetitive year after year and allow for some great local rivalries to develop. Right now these leagues are mixed in with small privtae school leages that are often far away. Hopefully the coaches and AD's could push this alignment during the next cycle.
if you dont know the coach from WEST COVINA then it will appear that way, but Mike is all bussiness and fears NO ONE!!! and shows no excitment, you might get a smile if you tell him a good joke, and as for the team they are ready and healthy to play anyone on there schedual. Mayfair might be thinking that WEST COVINA is a blessing for them in the first round but Ill tell you this they are one of the strongest teams on the schedual. dont let the coaches face or words fool you
1fan -
I don't expect all my picks being correct, but give me your reasons why you think you have more than a snow balls chance in hell against Mayfair? Did you see your coach's face on Aram Prep Rally when he found out he drew Mayfair? A deer in headlights shows more confidence!
OC FOOTBALL, I THINK YOU HAVE ALL YOUR PICKS UPSIDE DOWN SGV IS FOR REAL..... BUT I SEE WHAT YOUR DOING YOU JUST WANT TO DEBATE THATS COOL.

GREAT JOB ARAM..... GO WEST COVINA BULLDOGS....
I know they're aren't any SGV teams in the PAC 5 playoffs but taking a look at that bracket... wow. SO Notre Dame goes undefeated and to even get to the final game they have Dana Point (beat Loyola... which granted was like beating the Miami Dolphins this year), the winner of Mater Dei-Long Beach Poly (a first round matchup of the two tems that have dominated the division over the past decade), and then either Esperanza or Orange Lutheran. And that's the road for the number one seed to get the final.
