Frank,
Its good to hear from you and great to see that Duffy and you were having some good memories to look back at. Those were good times, and unfortunately they went by to fast. I never get to see my son play as a child under my roof, now I get to see him play as a man in college. How fast they grow. Never the less, I am just blessed that I had those experiences that I will never forget...Im sureyou know the feeling. Mike is on track to graduate, and I will just keep my fingers, and toes crossed that he does well. I always remind him that he has to remember people like you who have always stood behind him and to always think twice about every thing he does. I tell him to remember all the negative people out there who are just waiting for him to fail, and to make sure that he proves them wrong. Again Frank, thank you for always being there for Mike
we both appreciate it!!!
take care
Jody
Mrs Mc D, spent a Saturday talking to Coach Duffy about Mike at a wrestling tournament and he kept me in stitches telling me about the "ambulance runs" Mike had as a young football player. He also mentioned Mike's uncle Jim. He had nothing but positive things to say about you, Jim and Mike. It was a pleasure hearing Mrs. Duffy tell me about "litle Mike". You're right Mike brings smiles to the faces of parents, coaches and fellow students who remember him as a kid with tons of energy and an easy smile. The Duffys send their best and were in awe of Mike's accomplishments. Like I told them Mike is one of the top five players I have ever seen play. What an incredible "will". You should be very proud.
As always best of luck to you and Mike. Glad to hear his grades are up and that people have seen their efforts take hold. Matthew can't wait to see him play in All Star games. Any news when and where he'll play. Please keep Mike's "fans/supporters" posted. See you then.
To the ass wipes with nothing better to do than torment this woman....grow a set!
THANK YOU TO THE SUPPORTERS FOR THE KIND WORDS AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT YOU ALWAYS GIVE ME AND MY SON.
AS FOR THE BOYS WITH THE ICE CREAM MAN COMMENT...
THE MAN WAS ASKED HIS OPINION...AND HE SAID MIKE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT...THAT IS WHY HE WAS CHARGED WITH RECIEVING A STOLEN ICE CREAM FROM HIS FRIEND. HE WASNT CHARGED WITH ACCESSORY, HE WAS NOT CHARGED WITH ROBBING SOMEONE WITH A WEAPON...LIKE ALL YOUR INSULTING UNTRUE ACCUSATIONS...HE PLEAD NO CONTEST TO EATING A STOLEN ICE CREAM...SO GET YOUR ICE CREAM ROBBERY STORIES STRAIGHT!!! YOU ARE RIGHT I SHOULD HAVE
TAUGHT MY SON NOT TO EAT ICE CREAMS THAT WERE STOLEN. HE WAS WRONG...IS THAT A CRIME THAT MAKES HIM A HORRIBLE CRIMINAL I DONT THINK SO. CRIME IS CRIME THOUGH...JUST LIKE SIN IS SIN...WHATS YOUR SIN????
AS FAR AS MICHAELS TEACHERS;
I WAS IN THE DEANS OFFICE TODAY AND WAS APPROACHED BY FOUR TEACHERS AND A THE DEAN WHO TOLD ME THAT MIKE IS DOING GREAT AND HAS TURNED IT COMPLETELY AROUND. THAT THEY JUST WANTED TO LET ME KNOW. THAT IS THE SECOND GROUP OF TEACHERS THAT HAVE TOLD ME THAT SO MAYBE HE HAS FINALLY WOKE UP.
STOP MAKING UP YOUR STORIES AND EXAGERATING THE FACTS...IF YOU KNOW THE TRUE FACTS THAN STATE THEM, BUT ACCUSING HIM OF ROBBING A ICE CREAM MAN WITH A KNIFE IS UNTRUE. HE WOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED THIS SEASON AT ALL IF HE WAS THE ONE WHO DID COMMIT THAT CRIME, IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE THAT OUT.
I JUST WISH AFTER ALL THE CRAP THAT YOU TALK ABOUT MY SON, THAT YOU SAY WHAT YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE, WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU DONE SO SPECIAL IN YOUR LIFE? HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT HAVE YOU MADE IN THE SGV? OR ARE YOU A NOBODY WITH NO SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS OF YOUR OWN!!! I SUSPECT THAT IS THE CASE, CAUSE IT MAKES YOU GREEN TO SEE HIM BE THE FIRST IN 20 YEARS TO WIN SGVTRIBUNE POY BACK TO BACK. LIKE I SAID BEFORE FOR EVERY ONE OF YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS, THERE ARE 3-4 POSITIVE ONES ALWAYS FOLLOWING BEHIND. THATS WHAT MEANS THE MOST. JUST REMEMBER AND COUNT, YOU AND YOUR OPINIONS ARE OUTNUMBERED.
LOL (yet another morphing? C.S) small "i", no capitals and double (dunce) entry
Who says poof and gone?
your mom did...she quiffed...said opps...then ..poof! ... I was gone!
9 months later you slimed out! Big dumb and stupid!
hahahahahaha BIG DUMB STUDLESS
can someone get the ice cream mans opinion? doesnt he get a vote? haha. thats for you SLIME BALL REPELENT! oh wait, dang it, you poofed and now your gone. i hope you re appear and can read this. who says poof, gone! anymore?

To McD Mom,
I would like to thank you for being a Mom who is there for his son. Not many kids can say that they have a MOM who loves them as much as Mike can say about you. You are a true LOVEING MOM!!!
Time will tell the outcome!
Is there a person out there who doesn't have a take on Mike McD? His whole career made for a pretty amazing story. I understand that people are very divided on him. I just wish that more people would be rooting for him to overcome whatever problems he might have/had and do the best he can. It should be remembered there are a lot of people who made errors during their youth but went on to have very good lives.
Sad to see bloggers expressing indignation concerning the McDs and then expressing themselves with undignified spiteful comments.
Why? What a terrible waste of time. Two times means Mike was without question the most spectacular player in the SGV. That's an accomplishment few have achieved at any level. Going back to back separates Mike from his peers. I don't see or hear ANY of Mike's peers saying anything to contradict Mike's selection. That speaks volumes.
Get a grip you adolescent child and move on to pulling the legs off of spiders or whatever sadistic things twisted assholes like you do. You're pathetic...and easily forgotten. poof! gone!
Mike McD is more like INFAMOUS! You say everyone makes bad decisions - they do. But most kids that make bad decisions don't break the law. There is a complete difference between breaking the law and the "growing pains" of adolescents. And what's with the "single mom" praises? Does him Mom deserve a metal for doing what she was supposed to do? I don't think so. There are so many single Mom's out there that raise their children without "bumps in the road" like Mike has had. Sounds to me like Mikey needed his little ass spanked more frequently and he wouldn't have had these problems. I'm so tired of hearing about Mike and his Mom....let's move on! PLEASE!
"once in a few generations player? Far superior than all other players?" Are you kidding me? Yes, the kid had great stats. But let's not put him in the class of some of the other greats in the Valley. It's an insult to Eri Bienemy, Lawrence Phillips, McCutheon, Shaun Cody, Harwell, and many others that were truly great players in the Valley against much better competition. Covina had a quarterback (Ulrich) 10 years ago or so that led them to a CIF title and was a great kid on and off the football field. I guess generations are getting shorter these days.
To McD Mom,
It all comes from jealousy when these bloggers come in here and rip you and your son. What your young man accomplished at Covina High will be remembered for years to come. He is the once in a few generations player that just is far superior to the rest of the other players. My Son plays for Amat and played with Mike over in Jr. All American when they were Gremlins or Jr. Peewees with the Bruins......I was impressed with Mike then and am impressed with Mike today. Everyone especially HS kids make mistakes and some are still out there making them , we all did it and it is part of growing up. If JC is where Mike plays you tell me how many HS fans will be there to see his first game. Dont listen to all this BS here. You have a special son and you are leading him in the right direction. I too was raised by my Mom only and times did get tough with Education after HS but it all worked out in the end. Keep up the good work. It is people like youself that believe and will get to where they are going. Always wondered what Mike would have done had he played for Amat...Greatness no doubt. Looking forward to seeing Mike play at the JC level...
A AMAT backer.
guess i did have something to say to you. go ahead now joe and chad, its your turn to speak. go ahead, come to uncles rescue. i give you permission. you make speak now
ok tommy t, i have nothing to say to you. your not even in this conversation anymore. all you do is same the same old meat head things. call people names whatever. your a freakin soccer player dude, didnt even play football so stop giving us your opinions. and whats up with you attacking aram and his restaurants of choice? your a low classless individual. especially when your bro in law isnt afraid of the dinner table or buffett either. i do have to ask where bernal is on the team because he exposed the rowland defense for what it was. always in the right position, just couldnt make the tackle. poor tackling from the linebackers. thats why one d lineman made it. honestly, thats all that should have. tommy t, your a bum. oh, keep guessing my occupation. keep putting down others also. your one likeable guy arent you. bet everyone loves sitting next to you at a football game. stop coming on here. kind of figured you would stop liking aram after the teams came out. like i said, kiss a mans butt to get what you want but when the truth comes out and he makes a decision to not put on your nephew or whatever he is, you start rippin on him and his weight? what a winner you are. your like a little kid. you complain, whine, moan, bit#@, cry, take your ball and go home. your a tired act. i think i speak or aram and everyone else but your family when i say "beat it"
most staff, teachers and whatever dont agree with your thoughts mcd's mom. just thought i would ask, where were you when he was robbing the poor ice cream man at knife point? does anyone even know about that or are we doing the whole political thing and acting like that never happened? dont come on here and tell us what a saint he is. good football player- yes. good student- no comment. good role model or leader on campus- lmao. instead of "lol" for laughing out loud, i put "lmao" for laughing my a%$ off. good night
Hey Mike the Clone,
Maybe you should change your name to Mike the Hemorrhoid you Aram ass-kisser.
where is Daniel Bernal on this list???????
Or Iran Blandon?????
Let's get this straight. McD is 5-9. That is why he isn't getting the D-1 offers. If he was atleast 6-1 or maybe able to get away with being listed at 6-1 believe you-me, he'd be playing D-1 football next season. Period. He is a good QB, and a very good FOOTBALL PLAYER.
-I'm out!
Mrs. McD,
You can always count on those who appreciate Mike's talent and your unflinching love for him to have your back. I must admit he is one of the greatest individual competitors I have ever seen. Mike is a lucky man to have a great support system behind him.
I believe he will continue to amaze true football fans where ever he plays. And I feel fortunate to have seen him play. Tell Mike he has nothing but love all the way in Whittier! Kids like him are hard to forget. My son asked me if Mike won again and when I told him yes he smiled from ear to ear! That's great he said. They still giving him a hard time on the blog? When I said yes he said..What are you going to do...people hate greatness. Then he asked how you were doing. I told him...She's tougher than MIKE!!! Good luck Jody. All your dreams and Mike's will come true...And won't THAT be sweet!
WHAT,
All I have to say is you are not a Man you are a boy! No Man would say what you said about Mike and his MoM. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THANK YOU MIKE'S MOM FOR BEING A LOVE AND VERY GOOD MOM. YOU HAVE MADE A MAN OUT OF MIKE AND WE THANK YOU IN SGV FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DUE.
THANK YOU AND THANK YOU MIKE FOR A GOOD YEAR AND MORE TO CAME IN JC and University!!!!!!!
WHAT A PATHETIC LOSER:
(WHICH IS NOT YOU)
THANKS FOR STICKING UP FOR ME!!!

WHAT,
What I wrote is what I mean, every word of it. Does it matter to me what you think, or what kind of impression it makes on you...no!!! My son has a reading disability and will and has struggled all his life academically. Does he put his focus on his education??? Well I guess he will have to now won't he??? And another thing, how do you know how involved with my sons education or his life I have been. If you know anyone in CV you ask any kid, parent, teacher and coach, counselor, dean principle, janitor, boosters, etc.if mike mcdonoughs mother is involved in his life. Mike is ahead in credits, and has passed the high school exit exam and like I said before, next is JC and the a University. Whether it takes us short or whether it takes us long the point is we will get there! You can count on it! Im proud of my son, always will be, and no pathetic little insults from you, or anyone else could ever take that away. Hey maybe hes not the best academically But he is the best athletically...very few are the best at both...we are very exstatic with him being the best in football in the sgv... Im am sure that will open some doors somewhere eventually!! but until then we will be working hard to get him where he needs to be...call it an excuse...call it what you want...I call it a GOAL!!!!

sam lavea will damien ever admit they were beat that night? by the better team, better line, better head coach, better staff, better photographer? lol
game over. season over. get over it.
WHAT?
It takes a small excuse of a man to sink as low as you did. Like a poor excuse of a man that you are you sit by your monitor and say hurtful comments and then piss in your pants with morbid pleasure at the thought that someone's feelings were hurt....and YOU caused their pain. And that's really what you're about...saying the outrageous for the sake of attention and spitefullness. How chicken shit of you! I don't even believe you know what you're talking about or care for that matter...what matters is that you think you matter. You are a pathetic individual. God help you.
HOLD UP, McD Mom. Now I see where Mike gets his keen ability to make excuses. YOU. Sure, Mike received letters from Colorado and Washington - as did any other kids with Mike's stats - But, that's as far as it went. Chances are, Mike's coach got a call from these great schools and the second they heard he had terrible grades, and was severely undersized and had character issues they hung up the phone and wished Thomas good luck.
Let's get this straight..you said: "MIKE DOES HAVE TO GO WITH THE JC BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IF HE WENT STRAIGHT TO A UNIVERSITY HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PREPARED ACADEMICALLY." Uh, hello...earth to MOM....I think you got that backwards. Mike is going to a JC becasue he wasn't prepared academically for a university...did he pass the SAT or ACT?? Doubt it. You said something that stood out to me...you said that you were "very much involved in his football career"....that's just the problem...get involved in his "academic career" and your son would be going to a college or university next year....so please, don't insult our intelligence and make some BS statement like YOU PLANNED IT THIS WAY...COME ON!
Covina Mom, your welcome for the comments. I think that was a great picture of you 4 in the tribune. It really shows who helped Mike to this point, as im sure their were many more also. I really hope he continues his career somewhere.
As far as Tyrone Torres, i played youth football with him. I know he coaches the freshman team over at B.P. and from what ive heard and seen, he's doing a really good job over there. Best of luck to you and your son in the future..
GO BRAVES!!!!!!!
BRAVETOWN:
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND KIND COMMENTS, MIKE NEVER READS THE BLOG BUT I PRINT HIM COMMENTS OF SUPPORT SUCH AS YOURS. I WILL BE SURE
TO SHOW HIM YOUR MESSAGE. MIKE WILL PLAY AT THE JC AS QUARTERBACK ACCORDING TO THE COACHES UP THERE, AND EVENTUALLY WORK HIS WAY TO A UNIVERSITY. WHAT PEOPLE DONT KNOW IS WE HAVE RECIEVED NUMEROUS LETTERS FROM WASHINGTON HUSKIES, AND COLORADO BUFFALOS SINCE LAST YEAR AS WELL AS OTHERS. I JUST NEVER LET ALL THE CRAP TALKING BLOGGERS KNOW OUR BUSINESS. MIKE DOES HAVE TO GO WITH THE JC BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IF HE WENT STRAIGHT TO A UNIVERSITY HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PREPARED ACADEMICALLY. WE WILL GET THERE THE WAY I PLANNED IT...CALCULATED. I AM VERY MUCH INVOLVED IN THE PLANS OF HIS FUTURE FOOTBALL CAREER AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME, KNOWS THAT I USUALLY ATTAIN MY GOALS, AS WELL AS HIS. I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL THE DOWN TO EARTH SENSIBLE BLOGGERS THAT KNOW THAT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DO SOMETIMES MAKE MISTAKES, AND THAT THEY CAN AND DO RECOVER FROM THEM. I PERSONALLY WORK WITH HUNDREDS OF KIDS IN MY PROGRAM THE VIKINGS, WHO HAVE MANY PROBLEMS AND TURN THEM AROUND TO PLAY FOOTBALL. WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE HOPE, AND BELIEVE IN THEM, SOMETIMES THATS ALL IT TAKES. AS FAR AS MY SON, I HAVE HOPE AND BELIEVE IN HIM WITH EVERY OUNCE OF MY HEART. TAKE CARE AND BEST OF LUCK TO THE BRAVES (TYRONE TORRES IS A GOOD FRIEND AND COACH OF MINE ON THE VIKINGS!)
COVINA MOM (MCD'S)
"Sam"
Thank you, and the team for a great finish to an average season. Sorry, your last game had to be cut short like it was. My kids, (one's on the Frosh team) and I were in the stands when you were on the track. Believe me, we all wanted to be down there kicking dirt with ya.
p.s. Shouldn't you be in science class (lol).
Thanks again,
---->If your a fan or a parent from a high school from around sgv and you come on here and post a blog, dont come on here a talk trash! if you dont got anything good to talk about DONT SAY IT AT ALL!. The season is over and not one team from sgv won the title. Stop complaining about how someone lost because someone was hurt! what do think this is? Its called football! everyone is hurt.
sam lavea!

John,
Maybe you are stupid, but Mendrun got all area and all Inland Valley..Not to mention all CIF. He played the Los Altos game with a broken rib and a concussion. Think before you speak next time kid.
Hey Think about it or Think real hard or Get a Clue or Take a nap or I'm a Moron or I'm a Coward or Go to sleep: Oh that's right you have a sleeping disorder and you can't sleep. I'm sure you can't sleep at night because you sleep in your Taxi all day. Or whatever you call yourself. If your a man give your name but you won't. It's easy for you to come in here and spout off when you don't have to give your name, Your a Punk and I'm sure someone some day will beat you up. Aram, here's a solution. Let the coaches in the SGV pick the All-Area Team just like they do it in the Inland Empire. You can't be at every game so this way you can spend alot more time at the buffet line. If you create a blog and then you personally pick an all area team and you don't go by stats, what do you expect. Did you ever see RUDY. He had heart, but he wouldn't make the all-area team. Get a clue and don't set up a blog and then trash your readers that disagree with you. Also stay away from the Cold Stone, it's giving you a brain freeze. Tell Joe Amat (your brother or boy friend) to shut his pie hole.
That's right it's me Tommy T
Aram will not tell anyone about all league either he does not know or he will not give his many bloggers the time nor the answers when so many have asked and been ignored.
Getto ?????
You may not know how to spell "ghetto", but you sure as hell are GHETTO. Go back to night school you tard.
Mr. Webster
Congratulations to you Mike and your family.
You are truly a great football player. It would be a shame if you never strap it up again, because you are someone who could play at the next level. I know you went through some trouble in your h.s. career, as some kids do, but its fortunate that football was there for you and you found it important enough to commit to it. Congrats to your family as well, as they stuck beside you and im sure guided you to this point.
Be thankful for every hand that was lent out to you, as we are thankful just to remember watching you play this great game..
GO BRAVES!!!!
you roland people or fans are getto.... you guys win a few games this year against cheap teams and you guys talk alot of trash. cant wait for next year when your team goes with only 3 wins...
i am not an idiot thankyou very much
sgvpride is and idiot thankyou
74 is an idiot thank you!
Mendrum 1st team, you gotta be kidding. I saw him look pretty silly against Los Altos, heck Casteneda out played him.
There should be more people from Los Altos HS on the All-Area team!....
Hey guys!
We should be giving out soap opera awards instead of All Area Team awards? How about best daytime drama on a blog? Stay tuned. The 2006 Blog Awards will be released soon. I hope to MC on the red carpet!
please quote me when i have tried to put u or yourfamily down idont even no u and who is J
thankyou
Dude, theres much more to everything than you know, now im done with that one and by the way its norys thanks and you should stay off you got punked by high school kid lol.
look i changed my name. bet the norris family is steaming now about that. oh wait, im not man enough to put my name. haha, who cares, like you said, its a blog. and in the year of 2007, not so sure i would want all my info out on the web. anyway, this will be my last post until next football seaon. happy new year to all, well almost all of you. wink wink. you know who you are. actually i will respond one more time if the norris family has something so outrageous that i have to say something back. thats the only way.
chad, thats just adorable. bet daddy made you put all that. haha. never bashed on you. not once. and dont tell me the correct spelling of a difficult last name to spell when you pops cant even spell words we all learned in the first grade. haha, your family is so funny. im over it. just defending a young man who deserved it when a "friend" and his family werent there for him in the end. you say that only your family and johns family know about what happened? actually we all do now, rhonda filled us in. unless your calling her a liar............. im going to side with her on that one chady boy. man you sound bitter even though your claim not to be.
"Think about it"
To answer your question about if i really want my dad on the blog saying stuff...well the truth is i could care less...he has fun with it so watever...I dont ever remember him kissing arams ass like you say and aram would back him up on that for sure. Jon Couwenhoven(correct spelling) is a hell of a football player...definetely had one of the bigger hearts on the team and had alot of game to go with it, as for the living situation and all that, no one but my family and the couwenhoven family knows anything about that, as for the all are did he deserve it? who knows I would put him on my all area team, but then i would put alot of rowland players on my all area team...so what if we got knocked out in the first round of CIF...we made it there, 2 years back to back...more than we could say for last 10+ teams to go through that school...people also forget that we did beat South Hills for the first time since 1982. Lastly you talk about bashing kids, sounds to me like you bashed on me, not that i care. I play football cause i love the game, cause its fun. NFL, National Championship, thats all dreams. I just want to go to college get my education and move on, look back on this blog and laugh. Another thing isnt it basketball season...not to mention i know my team is preparing for the 2007 football season, but were on here still talking about the 2006 season...and what kind of mom names there son "Think about it" damn thats unique.
P.s. i wouldnt play for your team anyways
Think about it,please do that think about it you are a fool.you don't even know what your talking so stop why your ahead because unless you can come on this blog and use your real name you are a big chicken shit, dont't worry about me and big john you don't even know what want on your just talking out of your ass you got a big f..king mouth so go get a real job stock boy.
ARAM...
ALL CIF?
Aram,
Any word on where Anthony Gonzales of Rosemead will play College ball next year?
thats right, im on here at 1:26am. i have a sleeping problem. bet you want to make fun of that to huh joe. you would. actually, just got of my shift. going to bed now.
TOMMY T and JOE.
wow, guess you got yours didnt you. its so sad that you act like this and put down kids and coaches just to make yourselves feel better. tommy t you name around 7 kids to make the all valley or tribune teams from rowland. do the math, that doesnt leave many spots for the other teams now does it? and for a team that didnt make it out of the first round, doesnt really seem right does it? oh wait, its the coaches! cant come to the realization that maybe you guys just werent that good. heard talk of rowland being the best team in school history? haha, watched rowland back in the sierra league for years and your team wasnt even top 5 in school history. you may have had some talent there but when you dont have it for so long, then you get a little taste of it, you tend to over-rate it. "it" being talent. then again, as everyone knows, talent only takes you so far, must play as a team. and from previous blogs on here, didnt seem like the so called "star players" were trying to play as a team. didnt one of the kids get benched if im not mistaken, and they still beat south hills without him? bet the raiders could have used about 22 of the john couenhoven's or however you spell it. you see joe, i think your son does have some and i mean some talent. needs to get faster and stronger. alot faster. so instead of you flappin away on here, why dont you go out and work with him. you know everything, you know what to do right? what you dont understand is, i wouldnt take your son on my team ever. not because i dont like him or he cant play, because i wouldnt want to deal with you. look at what you do on here. you suck up and kiss arams ass all year. joke with him and whatever. we call that brown noseing where i come from. if you keep suckin butt, pretty soon you start chokin on pooh. well you didnt get what you wanted so you turn on aram. another player from rowland gets a better award then your son and you turn on him. then on his parents. you say horrible things to the mother. how can you question a mothers parenting when she is trying to provide? damn you. you are the lowest of lows. you are scum for that. you make me sick. and to call out the kid and say he never thanked you for putting a roof on his head? oh f'n grow up. are you taking tabs joe on who says thank you here and there. did you ever stop and put yourself in your son's shoes. maybe deep down in, he doesnt want his dad on a blog letting everyone know his info. where hes going, what hes doing. what school he attended, all that crap. maybe he is thinking, i wish my dad would shut the hell up because he makes it real uncomfortable for everyone. im sure chad's friends get on here and read all of this. from the looks of it, you have created a pretty awkward situation for john and chad. i think its the blog of the year when "rhonda" lets everyone know you made a high school kid pay rent to sleep on your floor. what a great guy you are. get over yourself. aram, i congratulate you on the blog this year. it was fun reading and being a part of. hopefully joe and tommy t take a hike and go play in traffic during rush hour so we never deal with them again. hopefully the rowland parents will fill everyone in on how the banquet went. should be alot of fun with joe there. oh and my apologies to couenhouven for butchering his name on here. i think thats how you spell it.
hey 74! Sam must have kicked your ass just like everyone else did. Seeing how you had every "physical" advantage all year long...how come you did not make "any" All Area Teams? Or at least All Area Honorable Mention? Not sure about All League..did you make those teams?
"I" think you're an awesome player( and blogged so ..OFTEN!) "I" also think you're the hardest working O big man I've seen in a long time(and blogged so...OFTEN!) I also think you were "jobbed". So why the hostility? Why do you try so hard to offend my family when everytime I see you or mention YOUR name it's ALWAYS POSITIVE? Maybe you're taking up other people's fights but really there is no need to continue when I know who you are and have for a long time. I don't mean to come down on you publicly but really you're being personally offensive and not talking football...understand?
So tell me why didn't your coach nominate you? I saw you play all year and dominate your man so why the lack of love?
Maybe instead of coming on here questioning my football knowledge and spewing crap at me all the time... you could spend your time figuring out why you were omitted...and I didn't vote but would have for you. But again,by your own words, "what do I know?" what do "I" know? So do you disagree with me again? ...that you should have been mentioned with other players who had great seasons and received NO AWARDS or should people think with your size you suck big time. Next time when you see me on campus tell me why you chose to "pile on", when all I've ever seen you play is offense and ALL if ever said about "your" position coach is extremely POSITIVE (again..and blogged so..OFTEN!)
Good luck next year. And instead of crapping on the training others received ask J what I got out of it. ZERO! Also ask him what it costs "him". $$$$...ZERO! Same for you...because ...like "J" I think you got screwed. That's why he was helped ...because "J" deserved better than 3 plays a game. And that big boy IS MY OPINION. Don't ask anyone else...go to the source..ASK "J". Before you bash your favorite father figure. You just might find out that people are nicer than you give them credit for...Your call...either way I'll sleep well at night knowing I did nothing wrong other than offer help.
The amount of preparation, discipline, and confidence to win that game by Boise State was incredible. Who calls THOSE plays to win a game? Who practices THOSE plays enough that NOTHING goes wrong and EVERTHING goes perfect?
I have NEVER seen a coach get out coached like that before! Bob Stoops and Oklahoma are as much stunned as they are in AWE of Boise State's TEAM and STAFF! That was, from a player's perspective, awe inspiring!
How do you coach, practice and foster that kind of commitment and class into one team.
They always believed in each other, showed class in victory and to top it ALL off Ian Johnson proposes on National TV! Then, when it could NOT get better...the Head Coach Peterson gives credit for the game pass, catch and reverse TD to his two "back up quarterbacks"...even the most jaded fan has to be inspired by Boise State!
A.P. National Champions...Boise State! Everything that's RIGHT about college sports!
ian johnson is a damien alumni
did anyone else watch that fiesta bowl? i cant believe that crazy shit! The coach looked like he was getting the play calls sent to him by his 13 yr old son, who was trying those wild trick plays on his X-Box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....i luved it.....anyone---can beat anyone, on any given day......thqt was awesome.....it was great to see Ian Johnson running like a mad man out there!!.....
Hey Joe Amat or Aram's Brother whoever you are.
In my opinion, the Rowland players that I mentioned all deserve to be 1st or 2nd team. I don't know the other players in the Area, just like your brother doesn't know them either. Read the whole blog before you spout off. I'm sure that I won't make the all area blog team because Aram (your brother) can't read all of the blogs every week, he probably only reads a few a week, unless you call him and let him know how we all did. Niether you or your brother have interviewed me so I will be left off. I tell you NO RESPECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a Life J....oe A....mat aka Jack...Ass
Just praise you Lowly Lancers when they have another good season and say Hi to your brother.
That's right it's me Tommy T
S.A.Q.,
The training that Rex will also continue starting this weekend along with a few others wanting to improve their speed and agility can be found at perfectcatchfootball.com combine testing and training starts now. guys name is roger huff hope to see alot of SGV players there.

Rex Foss had a phemon year on both sides of the ball! Congrats to his proud and classy Dad. Hope parents and players take you up on the Speed Agility and Quickness Training. That level of expertise is invaluable to any player at any position. It clearly paid off for Rex. Didn't seem to refuffle any feathers at Los Altos or their coaching staff, lol. That kind of "help" is what players do to get the extra edge. It never conflicts with the coaching philosophy of any school because it NOT teaching FOOTBAL it's training for your body and mind...it just makes you quicker, faster, better balanced and sharper...hey ALL THE PROS DO IT!
Maybe you can give that name of the trainer again.
I'm confused is F.C talking about F.C. or is someone "stalking" F.C.? I'm kind of confused.
To borrow a famous phrase from the late Lloyd Benson...
" I know F.C... F.C. is a personal friend of mine...you sir...Are No F. C."
Dan Qualyle in background with is head up his asss!
right on cue. LOL Jeff...you're a riot. What a brilliant plan......yeah right!
Oh yeah...(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) now that's funny. Have a very happy new year. By the way the credit was for Sergio. I just watched. You pavlovian doggie you....you're salivating still. Anonymously as usual....going to a blogger anonymous meeting...last one this year. Then I take off my electronic blogger ankle bracklet. lol. buenas noches. boo hoo.
No need to ask T.H. or anyone else...no kid on the football team next year so I'll be busy reading about his T.H.'s ALL League and All Area Awards next year. Coach Lucero is "surviving" me, lol By the way say hi...to Mr. and Mrs. H. , seeing that you speak for them, and his biggest fan...THE AUNT (who is the coolest football fan on the planet)! keep trying...
Rex Foss Los Altos High school 1250 yds. receiving quarter finals 154 yds recieving 1 interception 10 tackles., Semi finals 108 yds recieving 15 tackles Max Preps does not have these games posted for Los Altos Foothill quarter finals, and El Dorado Semi Finals Also not Arams fault it is the schools responsibility to input this info
Come the first of the new year i don't want to talk about hs football anymore, everyone talks all kinds of shit and you don't know what your talking about, look the bottom line is im proud of my kid for what he has done this year and all the years at rowland he made them a better football program he showed them what heart is all about and how to work your ass off in the off season, and yeh tommy-t your right better coaches better result end of story,my kid well get what he gets at his banquet which is jan 22 and than we will move on its college time baby.Aram great job covering the season this year but bad picks in the all area, ill tell you aram come back a year from now and will see what all these kids are doing with themselfs good luck to all and be safe tonight.
I wonder how may players on the All Area Team are considered possible college players ? Harris from Duarte is headed for UCLA. Any other players committ or are being offered?
Tommy T,
People like you make me chuckle. You rip on Aram for picking a team and only seeing a couple of games a week (although you neglect the countless phone calls, interviews and research prior to those couple of games).
Then you claim that certain players "deserve" 1st or 2nd team, got no "respect" and you are "puzzled" that they didn't get more.
But then you admit to not knowing any other players and ONLY seeing Rowland play !!!
It's just not fair for us to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
Simply recognize and congratulate your beloved Raiders and give them props on a great season and the leave the criticisms out of your posts. You'd be much more respected.

All-Area Team
There are alot of kids that deserve recognition. What puzzles me more is that Rowland won league and they only had 2 kids on the first and second team. Aram, Where's the respect, I see alot of disrespect for a Team that was filled with talent. You have to realize that with better coaching this team would have gone far. Just ask other coaches in the area, they will tell you but they won't give there name. They have told me. Basically all this is a Stats competition because Aram wasn't at every game so he had to go by stats. This Team should be picked by the area coaches not a beat writer that attends one or maybe 2 two games a week. I only know the kids on Rowland because I have been watching them for 4 years. Chad, Renee, Philip, Both John's, Leonard and a few others. You all deserved to be 1st or 2nd team because of your Heart alone. The fans all know where the issues were at Rowland and it wasn't the players. All you kids should walk around school with pride, Go see the Rocky Movie and listen to what Rocky tells his kid outside the restaurant. Follow the Rock's words and you will go far and if you still don't get it go see Pursuit of Happyness and listen to every word Will Smith says as his character. This is a true story. You can create your own destiny by following these words. Good Luck to all wherever you land.
That's right it's me Tommy T (your favorite fan)
PS...J.W. North got punked for the State Championship they were 14-0 and a team that was 11-2 went instead. Did Aram choose that also?????

USC: Van Blarcom unsure of future
BY SCOTT WOLF Staff Writer
USC kicker Troy Van Blarcom is unsure if he will attempt to re-enroll, transfer to another school or even continue playing football following his academic dismissal last week.
Van Blarcom, who handled kickoff duties for the Trojans, received a 1.9 grade-point average this semester and needed a 2.3 to remain eligible. He could go to a junior college and reapply to USC or transfer to another school.
But sources close to Van Blarcom said he is not sure if he will try to return to USC. It's also debatable if USC would want to award another scholarship to a player who is an academic risk.
"I'm disappointed," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "He's been on the edge for a long time and knew what he needed to do."
Living Legend
I was waiting for someone to realize that MCD stats and his performance is what won him the POY honors.
You see, performance = stats = nominations = awards.
Thanks for taking the bait and proving my point!
Happy New Year!
basketball time thank you!

Alrigt Corona here we go again!!!!!!!!
Jeffrulerson is right all the Damien B.S. revolves around you. How dare you try and take credit for Travis and Luiten. You did nothing to help them. What you worked out with them a few times over one summer and now after all these years they got better give me a break. Ask Taylor Herrera what he thinks of your help.
Travis and Luiten got better because they busted their ass all year long "they" are the reason they got better not you. They worked hard in the weight room and during summer running at Damien.
Their Coaches did a hell of a job with them all season long but thats not why they got better its because they listened to their coaches and worked their asses off all season long!! It was them!!!
You crack me up!!! You think everything revolves around you. You come on this blog like you are all knowing and truth is you know very little about football. You say Damien did better when they switched to a four man d-line. DUMB ASS THEY HAVE BEEN RUNNING A FOUR MAN LINE FOR FOUR YEARS!!!!!!! They never switched!!!
Then you wanna come on this blog and blast Coach Carroll about being a bad coach after his defense allows a little over 9 points a game!!!!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!! He did one hell of a job this year but you would not know that because you dont know football
Like i said everything revolves around you from what i hear your son is a terrific young man but its to bad that "YOU" turned the entire J.V. football team against him with all the crap you say on this blog. Thats not normal MOST parents are their for the kids but not you!!!! Its all about you!!! Why not just keep quiet and enjoy his high school experience like most other parents??? Because its not about him its about you!!!
Understand i am NOT attacking your kid!!! Its you!! quit turning kids against him because you want everyone to "THINK" you are some kind of football genius.
Most importantly quit attacking people on this blog!!! I know you are gonna say im just stating my opinion right. Well your so called opinion effects others as you always say "how christian of you" Your such a hipocrit. You come on here and attack Coach Carroll thats not right That is his job!!!! Coaching football helps support his family how would like it if we started a blog about your job and talked about all the things you do wrong so maybe your boss could read about it on a blog "wouldnt like it would you"
Maybe i should not have typed this up!!!!! Its exactly what you want some one to talk about who else..... YOU!!!!!!
Jeffrulerson, sorry to say you've answered and agreed with "him" on numerous occasions. Even supported "him" several times. The truth of the matter is you, like the others from Damien, just did not KNOW it was "him". Guess that one sided theory did not hold water. It was just personal.
On this thread alone "he's" had multiple names (more than 10). And never once was "he" back handed like before. In fact, if "he" had made similar remarks, like the ones you've alluded to about Bruno, which by your own admission, you did even "know" before but commented on anyway. Nonetheless, you might have been one of the first to smack "him" down. It seems you've minimized Bruno's accomplishments when all you've shown is you lack a basic knowledge of football. Not knowing the value of "assisted tackles" (i.e. "pursuit/gang tackling) further proves what has long been suspected... you, like the others, known very little other than being petty and anonymous. By the way what position did any of you play?
I'll allow you to converse with me some more...and never again allow you to know it's me. You worthless coward. At least when Rowland "joe" said something outrageous four things happened at Rowland (to their credit)
1) They responded to him by name.
2) They addressed the validity of his position...again by name.
3) Joe came on here..again by name... and either apologized, stuck to his guns, or said he was misunderstood (all valid responses)
4)"Parties" mutually agreed it had gone too far and stopped..either by leaving the blog or by mutual agreement. Again by name.
At Glendora..Mike the CLone ..never hid his contempt for mediocrity, in any shape or form, and said so with unabashed fearlessness. I even had differences of opinion with him but he always stuck to his guns.
HOW DID THE GLENDORA CROWD RESPOND?
They all knew and know who "MIKE THE CLONE" is but never once attacked his son, Never once said his name or called him out by name and say disgusting things about him and his "worthless" value to the school or pontificate to all..".
All those hurtful comments directed at my son as a way of hurting "him" to silence "me". All those vemonmous digusting comments that my friends and family could read...and why? Because I disagreed with your collective view of the world. How incredibly cowardly.
It would have been fun to have a "grown up" season ending Pizza Blast to finish the first blog season but that would have been too easy to not discredit. Have fun on this blog and if you disagree with my often irritaing opinions just know they are about football and some of us enjoy the game because we played it.
Start the New Year off right and follow Rowland's lead. Step 1...is in your court. Sir.
Happy New Year to Aram, Reg, Kameron,Mrs. McD, Mike "Moose" McD 2x's POY, Ralph Diaz, 74-Colt Alumni, BIG DADDY, MATMWWTBAG, Wings, and others who made this a fun "oasis" from a very difficult time in my life. Last but not least a big shout out to my school yard buddy Sergio V. for coming out and helping Travis and Luiten accomplish their goals...they both had awesome seasons and both owe you a ton of thanks and appreciation. Without you someone's still running a 5.19/40 and the other..well Justin just needed a boost of confidence is all. Justin was always a CIF 1st Teamer on any other team. At Amat J.L is signed by now. Leaving the blog again until next football season...or not!
Good morning boys and girls it is exactly 3:19 in the morning and i am just getting home for norms (had a great chuck wagon) but that is a different story.
I have not post in some time but i got the "itch" as the gamblers say.
Let me first just kill the whole talk abot whether or not McD deserves the POY.
There is not a more impact player in the valley...ask coachs who have seen him, ask players who have played against him.
I dont have to say look at the numbers..you have heard them...i would type them all out...but they are so high....i mean come who scores 104 touchdowns in TWO SEASONS...hell most kids dont score 100 touchdowns in there whole football career. no matter who you say he played or did'nt play, the fact is that he scored more touchdowns in 2 seasons then any one else in sgv valley history. Conversaton Over
People, people, people, how you humor me with your "slanted" high moral standard....dont sit here and spew your hate towards a 16 year old kid....who has made some very poor choices, no doubt about that.....but alot of kids make those same mistakes and now you call them President, Senator, Wife, Husband or whatever...the point is that everyone deserve another shot to get things right...
Umm lastly, I am a outspoken liberal..but even i know there is a time and a place...so i am hear to let you in on a little secret, that time and place is not on a sports blog.
peace

Aram, for as much as you talk to coaches and all the great press you give them. Why didn't any leagues send in the All League and All CIF selections.
It's not like you ever say anything negative about them...what gives? Why the lack of cooperation and disrespect?
And with over half the basketball season played still no basketball thread worth mentioning...wow?
Some teams have already played 15 games!
Betty B, what can you say...no one ever asked people to stop crapping on each other...and it happened ALL SEASON...guess it's your turn. Too bad because it always feels horrible even when you know it's coming from a cowardly twerp who might be a kid or just acts like one.
"For bad things to happen...good people have to do nothing."
I think on some level maybe Aram should have either erased the clearly personal and offensive posts or make bloggers....oh wait that's crazy....people just have to learn that idiots exists and ignore them. As long as I'm anonymous I never get slammed like before..even though I've voiced a consistent spin on football topics. Yes people make things personal but most offensive bloggers never come forward and reveal themselves. And in hindsight I'm glad the Damien crowd never did...I'd hate to have to see people I'd want to kick the crap out of for 7 more years. Not knowing their names is curiosly comforting. Besides we all hav eto grow up something and put our wicked ways behind us. This way I just keep to myself and enjoy MY life and MY sons high school years in peace. People can be assholes , cowards and just mischeivious snakes but in the end the blog is a blog. And in football very few play the game but everyone KNOWS football..yeah right!

I'm pretty sure you like using all these different names to make yourself feel important. Now get over yourself and move on.

covina vs. glendora game
Covina Player,
So not only did he get arrested during the summer but e did something bad enough that your coach sat his PLAYER OF THE YEAR which accorinding to you costed the colts the covina game . He is not deserving of this award
most kids go there whole lives without getting in trouble like him and you think its an honor for making it 12 weeks without getting in trouble HAHA
Anyone else see where im getting?
Betty B
Strong opinions on religion (you have made) strong opinions on sports (you have made) and strong opinions on politics (you have made)sets you up for responses and "slams" as you say.
someone posted a comment that said that Mcd missed a quarter for being arrested. that is falst. he was arrested in the summer far before the season had began. he missed the first quarter for other reasons. then he never slipped up for the rest of the season.

You don't know how the SGV POY or All teams awards are selected because Aram hasn't answered the bloggers or set any form of criteria.

If you don't like 99% of the posters and the 1% is so great like you, then get off the blog and go back to to watching O'Rielly and Limbaugh!
Your learning alot there I'm sure!
shhs,
I did not try to start a political debate. I don't give a crap about politics. All I did is refer to back to O'Rielly (jokingly) to Aram and all hell broke loose. People in here need to lighten up and relax. Some people are always looking for a fight. Wait a few days and they will be back to slamming the kids again. It's what some people live for and nothing is ever going to change that.

You just dont get it! The performance of an athlete on a playing field equals stats, honors, nominatons then the winners are selected. It doesn't matter if its high school, college or the pros!
Explain to me how MCD won this year if he didn't perform on the field and generate NUMBERS!
I expected to be "slammed" because 99% of the posters on here do nothing but make this personal. Welcome to that 99% you fit in well. Call me names say what you want but with everything you say you prove my point.
Oh and the conversation that started this was not about politics go back and read it.
Then go cry someone else a river regarding the state of politics in this country because I am not here to listen to you complain.
stats ,
I think you're forgetting we're talking about TEENAGERS here. Stats, Forget your CY YOUNG,MLB MVP'S,,NFL MVP's,Heisman's,ROY. I think you're forgetting each have their own respected sports analysts for that kind of thing. This is just highschool ball. With arams choice or not, there will always be the side that doesn't agree. You're entitled to your opinion sure, but to say that MCD wasn't as deserving as some of the other players is laughable. I remind you the coaches votes dont lie, and if thats not proof enough look at the coaches that have called mcd one of the best players in the valley.(Raul Lara for one) The voting process is done on various levels. I assure you the SGV POY wasn't a choice made up on the spot. Last, mike didnt win the award last year on his numbers alone. Had you gone to the tesoro game you would've saw that yourself.
Or Betty B or Betty Boop!
You would have to open your big fat mouth and start a policies debate!

If you want to call someone out for being a liberal bandwagoner get ready to get slammed!
It’s pretty apparent that the MAJORITY of AMERICANS this year didn't agree with your opinion that both sides are corrupt!
Mahoney is just another example of the great conservative base at work!
Stick to football because you know nothing about politics!
Change was needed,
It's not for you to say it's MY party, You have no idea how I vote. Do you see that I didn't call anyone names. I said both sides are not perfect. And yes you are doing exactly what I expected someone to do. You think if you call someone enough names and yell louder then everyone else you must be right. Obviously only republican senators are corrupt in this country is that what you are saying? You go ahead and keep thinking that way, it's okay, we allow you to have your opinions in this country no matter what they might be.
Mahoney?? Mahoney wasn't even in this conversation. Actually you weren't even in this conversation.
and now back to football
2onallarea,
Not sure yet but he has several options he is talking to a few schools now.

Wow, you really put it out there! The problem with this picture is that the major focus today in schools has to be the Student/Athlete concept!
Instead of "Focus stays on the Field" it should be focus stays in the classroom first, citizenship grades second, family and community thrid and then football or whatever sports your in!
With this kids talent, it really sad NOBODY could manage his life better. It starts at home and maybe the fact this kid is going nowhere, he'll learn from his mistakes! Just a sad day for a gifted talent!

CY YOUNG
MLB MVP'S

ECT, ECT, I could go on and on!!!!!!
STATS = PERFROMANCE = NOMINATIONS = WINNERS
If the stats didn't matter than MCD is not the POY and Mendrum is. Everyone knows MCD schedule and his league isn't as strong as Pac-5 or Sierra but the kid put up HUGE STATS!
STATS and PERFORMANCE is where it's at in the real world. I guess scouts in football, baseball basketball, ect. don't care about the peformance of an athlete or his stats, grades, character, ect.
Aram just hasn't excepted his mistakes yet!
Aram,
Which All League lists are you now waiting for? Is there anything we can do to expedite these list to you (i.e. phone numbers, emails, etc.)so you can publish them as you promised.
Many people have posted questions to you regarding how we can obtain or process these All league selections, but we have not heard a response from you.
PLEASE CAN YOU PROVIDE ANY CONTACT NUMBERS/EMAIL SO WE CAN FOLLOW UP. A team or two have'nt had their banquet yet and these players are eager to know if they have made the list. It's a shame some players have no clue if they made All League while most players have already been told.
Thanks for your help!
Toy,
Thanks. Yeah, some people are pretty amazing. I hear this kind of stuff all year and I'm well aware a lot of people don't like me. But, I don't really care. It goes with the territory in this business.
All the posters who resort to insults, whether they be toward me or coaches or high school kids, simply show their cowardess by not leaving their real names. Part of the fun of blogs/message boards is that the participants get to keep anonymity.
But I think that all goes out the window when you start calling people out. I think Joe Norys should actually be commended. At least when he says his piece, he signs his name. If he's got something to say about me or the Tribune, at least I know who it's coming from.
Betty B...I agree. After hanging Sadaam we're going to ALL have to stick together. God bless the greatest country in the world. And please, in the immortal words of the late great Godfather of Soul, please! please! please! bring all our men and women back safe and sound!
Good job aram, It's always a nice read. I'm kinda surprised at the insane amount of insults on this forum...It also amazes me how fast people are to air out their dirty laundry. Have some respect for yourselfs and keep all that personal info at home... Fighting over a forum is just child's play. Alot of people seem to be focusing on their own schools players, but they fail to realize theres thousands of kids out there. It's hard alone to say oh player A is better than player B without going to see them in person. Remember stats are not an indication of the game they play.
Joe,
What college will your son be attending next year to play football?
Is there a website which list this years CIF FIrst Team & Second Team Players????
Aram,
Covina is a sleepy bedroom community where ice cream trucks sell cool goodies on a hot summer night. MCD is a thug who robs those trucks. Nice! Celebrate the Thug Life! He will not play one down in a college uniform and end up on the sidelines at covina teaching other thugs how to get away with bad behavior and good press!
Dan,
Thanks for the comment i totally agree with you i know my kid was much better than honorable mention and he knows it and thats all that matters,he knows what he did for his team this year and hes proud of himself for it.Hes just glad its over and now hes on to college were finally he can play one way in stead of not coming off the field at all and really show his stuff i mean its pretty hard to play te all game especialy when they ran his way all the time to get yardage when we could never run up the middle,or when they were going to pass the ball and always said is chad in there, thats probably why he lead his team in recieving also why los altos double teamed him the whole game in cif (smart coaches)and than after that go out and play linebacker and ss the whole game and lead his team in tackles and int.But oh well life goes on and so well chad and yeh im bragging about my kid but who cares so does everyone else and i like to take this time to congradulate big john cowenhoven and phillip chase and rene and leo and anyone else from rowland that where on this list i think bolden was not sure, and come to think about it all you guys for making it from any team just take it on to college or what ever you are going to do.
is mcd gonna go anywhere for football?
is mcd gonna go anywhere for football?
ALL- VALREA
Obviously you missed the post by Aram where he said he was starting to feel like O'Rielly asking a question no one is willing to step-up and answer. Thus you would know my post wasn't made to start a political war of words in a football forum. But since you jumped on the Liberal bandwagon and decided to spout off about O'Rielly and Limbaugh maybe you should be reminded of a few others who have a not so perfect past, Ted Kennedy and Chapaquiddick comes to mind and The Clintons and every type of "gate" you can imagine. Thankfully O'Rielly and Limbaugh only report on Politics so their personal indiscretions (which I agree are morally questionable) have no bearing on the running of our country. I'm not trying to start a war in here over this just wanted you to see that neither side of the political spectrum is without their faults.

I love football. Let's start there. Been around it for all my life. So please just look at it as such. They're ALL great kids but not ALL great players...Mendrun played great...Mc D was a great player..know the difference.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Hile play Varsity the past two years. Is he a great linebacker? That depends on your point of reference, compared to Barbosa or Campbell he's not. Is he the leader of the Damien defense...absolutely. That said, "To the victor goes the spoils!" Damien won league, went undefeated in league and was clearly the best team in "THIS AREA" at season's end. And that goes for a dysfunctional rebuilding Amat who I also saw on film and in person and "if" they beat Damien it's just big brother beating little brother syndrome. But this year I still think Damien wins because of their four man front. And that's where Damien won it's games ..up front! Believing otherwise is never looking at film.
The linebacking crew was no where as gifted physically or dominating consistently as whatever front four Damien put forth from the seven Damien had to choose from. Walsh, Luiten, Uche, Rabe, Gallardo, Okafor and the missing link Shaerer. ANY FOUR are better in any combination than the 3 LBs that started for Damien. That's not to say Hile, Gomez and Stokes were not good, they were, but great they were not...they were an efficient, effective and hardworking "UNIT". And in Carroll's defense that's all they had to be. Carroll on the other hand is an unexceptional linebacker coach. He teaches poor angles, poor tackling techniques, has poor alignments,(that's the coaching opinion of several qualified observers) but has been blessed with an exceptional talent pool of big men up front, year after year that makes up for his overall skillset. I've never seen a game this year where one LB had a breakout game exceeding the other two, never. Not once. Maybe someone saw it differently but that's not being honest. I did my homework, looked at film after the games and checked the stats. They were as even as could be. Hile separated himself with his captaincy and full season experience. You could not SEE a difference between them on the field.
On the other hand, Rabe stood out from the front four. He had big games, even dominating games. Rabe came alive as the season progressed and I'm sure teams schemed away from him. This only made Rabe more of a force. I doubt any team schemed differently for Damien's 3 LBs. Walsh also had a dominating year and should have made 2nd Team CIF. Jeff Lucero was a special player and should have made CIF as a utility player because of his versatility. He was more valuable down the stretch to the team than Travis, especially when he made big plays on "both" sides of the ball. Look at the Chino Hills Game as a reference point.
I also think in some respects the beating Damien took at Temescal Canyon clearly supports my observations. No defensive player can say they were well prepared for that game. No Damien fan, who witnessed that game, can say the team made any defensive adjustments in that game or knew what was happening. That was Carroll in full effect. Exposed.
It's odd that the discussion has centered on only Hile given his preseason status, team finish and team success against area teams. Maybe Uncle Al had something to do with it...but most people bit their tongues until the TEAM came out. Maybe that's why there is a clamor for the all league and all CIF awards. Uncle Al you blow it. Bragging's never going to go down easy especially when you're the only one who did it.
Congratulations Hile... You never let your teamates down. Glendora and the second half of SJB were your defining moments...when a young defense looked to their leader for direction...and you came through! Good luck in the future and any school you play for will get a leader when you suit up for them.
CAN WE GET SOME ABSKETBALL FEVER OUT HERE?GLENDORA GOT OFF TO A TYPICAL START LIKE LAST SEASON...BUT, THEY ARE STARTING TO HETA UP WITH TWO WORKMAN-LIKE ROUTES....
West Covina had 4 All CIF Players, not three as previously stated. Field, Rosenthal, Wallace, and Natividad. Field was Co defensive MVP in SAL along with Couwenhoven, who is a stud by the way. Rosenthal was MVP of SAL. Wallace was 1st team on both sides of the ball. Natividad was ist team SAL at center and second team D Line. From what I wa told, he received 2nd most votes of any o lineman in All CIF voting. West Covina will miss all four players because their character far exceeds their ability.
Correction

Good post in bringing your thoughts to light!
Well thats because Hile had an excellent season but my honest opinion is Bruno had a better one
Covina Mom
No solutions or facts, just an opinion!
Aram,
Your all area team clearly represents the standouts for the whole season. Most of the players chosen, have had there names constantly in the blog and in the paper. I follow high school football very closely, and your picks and 2nd team and honarable mention choices were as close to right on as anyone could get. Like another blogger said you could have had 100 players chosen, and someone would still be crying. All you whiners out there probably only ever followed your team, or your favorite player and never seen any of these other kids play. Who would know better than aram and the other sports writers he polled. I personally have spoken with the newscaster at Time Warner and he has mentioned similar opinions as arams. That is his job for god sakes that is what he gets paid to do!
DO YOU!!!! He created this blog and it has to be the hottest high school football blog around. You are all addicted to it, so he must be doing something right!!!1 Get off his case and Give credit where credit is due. And go ahead and make your immature comments to me, and put downs,
but like Aram said if you dont like it, dont get on the blog!!!! If I was as bitter as you, I wouldnt waste my time!!

Nice job Aram, like someone mentioned earlier
its your blog & newspaper articles so you got the right to make this list, all of these players are worthy of the list and there are others who are just as worthy who are not on there, Chad Nory's from Rowland & Nick Field from West Covina are equally as worthy as anyone on that list at their positions, but who would you take off to make room for them cause whoever you remove would then have an argument to be on the list, the problem is there are a lot of good players in the area
but we can only recognize a select few, so good job Aram & no bitterness from me as I have no problem with the list.
What can you say? They are both very good. I appreciate the fact that you are actually building a case for Bruno, rather than just tearing down Hile. Some of the earlier comments on this subject were more of an attack on Hile, and that's what bothered me in the first place.
Lets not forget Damien and Glendora played with very different deffensive schemes. Damien mostly played with a 4 man line and Glendora played a 3 man line.
Jeffrulerson,
I agree with most you say but the fact is Bruno had mor solo tackles and assist.....Yes Hile did have 2 sacks to Bruno's 1 but bruno also had 2 forced fumbles along with 3 recoveries
Hello,
I said that Bruno's numbers were inflated because most of his tackles came as assists. I still stand by that.
You made a good point in showing Hile had 40 solo tackles to Bruno's 45. My response to that is Hile had more sacks and his team won the Sierra League. Right or wrong, post-season awards and honors usually go to league champs.
With all of that being said, it sounds like either player is worthy of the honor and recognition that comes with being in the all area team. Glendora had a very good season against a challenging schedule. Even though they are not represented by many players on the all area team, they should be proud of their success this past season.
I sure hope you coach didnt tell you that Bruno didnt have one vote if he did then it just shows why he isnt a class act
Your a Liar
Bruno was faster , stronger, and had better stats than Hile......not to mention he played offense
Bruno - MVP..........More Valuable Player than hile
Im just telling you what our head coach told us during our banquet.
I guess he does not know what he is talking about either!!!!! (lol)
Faith Family FOotball
First off how do u know Bruno didnt get one vote the only way you would know that is if you were one of those coaches.......
Second where r u getting these 93 tackles from did you keep track
Third did Hile play offense at all maybe 2 plays i beleve
And last Hile did not lead the team to a league title Damien played as a team they knew how to play together and they had many tatlented players including Stokes, Gomez, Rabe, and so on....not to mention the power offense who knew how to give the defense a break
Your and idiot and you obviously do not pay much attention

Jeffrulerson,
Did you take a look at Hiles Stats versus Bruno's
Bruno had 45 solo tackles Hile had 40 solo
So i dont understand how u say his stats are inflated he still has more solo tackles than Hile and by him having 60 assisted tackles just means he hustles around and helps his teamates out so not only did he make more initial stops than Hile he also hustled around for his teammates
Get your facts straight you contradict yourslef
Alright im tired of all this Bruno and Hile stuff lets look at some solid facts.
First off Anthony Hile did not have 76 tackles as reported by the tribune he has 93 for the year.
Head to head match up Hile and his boys shut down Glendora held them to 13 points while Bruno and his boys gave up 33 points. Did anyone see that game when Hile layed 3 devastating hits on Edmond???
Sierra League Defensive M.V.P was given to Hile after "ALL" the Sierra League Coaches voted on it Bruno did not get 1 vote. I think all those Coaches know a little bit about the best defensive player in their league.
C.I.F. First team selection Hile is on it. Again voted on by coaches. Dont think Bruno is on that team.
Lastly Aram puts Hile on his team ahead of Bruno. Aram has seen both of them play a few times so he has a good idea who the better player is.
Recap i guess the Sierra league Coaches and the C.I.F. voting is wrong just like Aram when it comes to these two. Who led their team to a League Title??? Hile did!!!!!!!
Bruno is one hell of a football player but he is no Hile!!!
jeffrulerson,
Thanks for the honest come back!
Aram, opened up the venomous box by inviting blogers to state who should be replaced on his All Area Team. I, myself, thought this wasn't a great idea to speak down of anybody. Certainly not the boys who all fight hard throughout the season.
Those of us who know Todd beleive he's deserving, those that know Anthony beleive he is deserving. THEY BOTH ARE DESERVING!
I personally beleive more Tartans deserve a place on the All Area team. Not enough is said about strength of schedule and the Tartans had one of the toughest. Consider this, during the season, Glendora BEAT 1 team which later appeared in the CIF finals and BEAT 2 teams which appeared in the CIF Semi-finals.
The funny thing is - no amat people ar ecomplaining that they deserve more players on the list. AT did a pretty good job at something that is pretty impossible to do.
If the IE has all of those "champions" and "DI" players to choose from then there is all the mor ereason to draw strict lines with no overlap. Thanks for helping me prove the point.
Some interesting things about the "champions" that you brag about. Sincere congratulations to them. Any championship is worth celebrating. However, if we are going to compare-and I caution anyone to do so, as it is apples and oranges, Norco was forunate that Los Osos failed to convert an extra point in Norcos 1 pt win and Los Osos did squeak by Rancho Cucomunga on a long field goal. You know Rancho - they beat up on West Co and knocked off South Hills. And that's the same Osos team that destroyed Upland who beat Colony - your other "champion". I'm sure you also know, amat pretty much handled Rancho Cucomunga in a very, very, down year for the lowly lancers.
So keep propping the IE, stay on your side of the 57, and pick your own damn team. But don't compare - you are venturing in very dangerous waters.
Show me the love,
I don't despise anybody. I didn't even know who Bruno was until recently. It seems to me that most of the venom here is coming from Bruno supporters against Hile.
When people have said that Bruno is more deserving than Hile, they have pointed to his tackle numbers as the reason. My point is that more than half of Bruno's tackles were assisted. That means that for more than half of the tackles he got credit for, somebody else made the initial stop, and he helped complete the tackle after the initial stop. Giving credit for assisted tackles is a very subjective process. That is the reason why I said that his tackle numbers are inflated. Hope that answers your questions.
As far as Barbosa is concerned, I read that wrong.
I find it hard to understand how even the average Joe (no pun intended) cannot see how it is impossible to compare statistics, especially tackles. So much depends on the type of team and the scheme that the team plays.
Examples:
If a linebacker plays on a team that forces alot of "3 & outs" he only has THREE chances to make a tackle on that possession. If another team gives up long 15 play drives - there are many more tackle opportunities. An "average" linebacker on that team may get more tackles than a great 'backer on the 3&out team.
Maybe the pass defense on a players team is so bad that more teams throw against them and there are not as many opportunities. Or vice versa. The team could give up big plays for touchdowns-again shortening the number of plays. Or the team may have a great punter and force the opponent deep in there own territory versus the team that turns the ball over and gives the offense a short field.
It's like saying the kid in basketball that plays the whole game on a bad team and scores 12 pts is better than the kid on a better team that plays a quarter and only scores 6. (sorry to some of you - that requires some math)
You can't compare the two.
Again, there are "Lies, Damn lies, and Statistics !!!"
A couple of comments.
1. Aram...great job with the selections. There are so many great players that you could pick a "Top 100 Players" list and still have some folks with hurt feelings.
2. Parents coming on here to toot their own kids horns sound just as ridiculous as they do at the field/gym/diamond. Let others praise your kid. It sounds phony to prop up your own.
3. Glendora's Todd Bruno is a great kid. (I am biased. His mother picks my younger kids up from elementary/jr. high for me.) If you didn't know him, you would never guess that he is a football player. He is not a big kid, but he is fearless and has a greater heart than anyone that I have seen play. So don't bag on him. I hope that he finds some school he can play at next season.
4. Amat should be a force next year. They do have a strong league schedule and suffer because of it, but they can hang with any other SGV team.
5. Damien's Jon Rabe will be a terror next year for the Sierra League.
6. Congrats to Coach Farrar on his selection. There is no doubt that he did the best job, by far, of any coach in the valley.
7. In 2 years I will be torn between CO's Chris Allen and Glendora's Andrew Kaluzny for top QB.
8. Covina football will be strong for years to come just based on the performances of their Jr. All-American program this season.
9. Next season my son will be playing for Damien's varsity after 2 seasons toiling in obscurity on frosh/JV. The Spartans should be good next year. The game vs. Chino Hills will be a war. The Huskies are still P.O'd about the last game..Still the greatest game I have ever seen in person.
10. I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe New Year. Thanks again Aram!
Joe Amat "if the DB needs our guys to make their team legit that's there problem" dude! that laughable. Norco CIF Champions, Colony CIF Champions!I guess with those championship teams to pick from they needed our "guys"...yeah right. Maybe thet ran out of DIV I signees to pick from. Damien's Jon Rabe was a 1st teamer and no one needed to come of for that to happen..he did not deserve it ...he EARNED it!
By the way why is it that the best team in the valley, with the best players in the valley. with the best tradition in the valley, and the most dominance in the valley on had 1 single player make ALL AREA?
Waiting anxiously for the Amat diatribes that will occupy this blog for 2 days....It'll be like watching a hampster on a treadmill....round and round you go....huffing and puffing....yet still in the same place. Have fun.
And my girl "Betty B" the NO SPIN ZONE" is a spin zone....run by Rupert Murdock. And O'Rielly is the worst whore of them all. Absolutely NO CREDIBILITY! Ask his assistant about the "voice mail" incident that caused MR. INTEGRITY to pay out millions...or was that Rush with his "Hillbilly Herion" junkie ways bought by his illegal domestic! Or that ...you get the picture.
People have a right to question the picks. Notice NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE HAS QUESTIONED MCD'S 2 TIME POY PICK. Even though the "evangalists" were out to get him earlier. Question the picks and know that they will never change...it's blogging at it's best. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...AND THIS BLOG IS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 players from WEST COVINA mad ALL CIF.
One linebacker had 76 tackles thats it really! Tell me how that happens????
2onallarea
Not true....Glendora has not had their banquet yet (1/28/07).
For those of you who keep begging for the all league teams to be announced. Anyone, kid or parent already knows by now wheather they made all league or not. All the schools have had their banquets and the coaches have let all the kids know who was selected. I think it is just proud parents/kids that want to see their names in ink. Aram, great job on another excellent year.
...and for you football fans Blayney, Beckwith & Chekerian are bringing their physical presence to this team and contributing in various ways. Coach is using 9 guys who all can play and have had their moments. Of course the scoring load is being carried primarily by Gordien & Tiger both averaging around 20+ a game.
Aram,
How about a new basketball thread here. Glendora has looked very good in its first 2 games down at the Century Tourney in Orange county. They totally dismantled Santa Ana and a decent Cypress team scoring 80 both games and giving up around 50 to both. Better team play, running the offense more efficiently, etc... Tonight's semi-final against Troy of Fullerton (I think) will be a good test. They are rated about even with the Tartens. Win that, and they are likely to play Gahr (#12 in LA Times?) for the championship. Glendora is running and scoring more than recent years. Fun to watch. Team D is improving, but still needs to get better.
GTO (Glendora Tarten rOundball Fan)
do you think it's time for a new offensive coordinator or a new spotter upstairs at charter oak? Dom is ok but somebody needs to help him see the advantage/disadvantages on the field. apparently whoever is spotting upstairs can't see what can and can't work. anytime you have a receiver like michael johnson on the field during a championship game and the defender is playing him off 10 yards on almost every first down, it seems you could get the ball to him to make something happen. they threw to him 4 times the whole game with only 1 hitch pattern with the defender playing only 4 yards off of him (which is a little too close for a hitch) on a second down play. what happened to the slants, deep-cross and post/corner patterns? go figure.
did u mean 9 touch downs on "defense" or did u mean offense? this makes a difference jeffruleson.
jeffrulerson
Dosn't maxpreps include "assisted tackles" in their total tackles number? Why would you claim the number is inflated? Are you saying no player should include assisted tackles in their performance numbers? Or is it ONLY Bruno and Glendora you dispise so much?
My bad.... ment to say some leaders.
The Daily Bulletin reported that Chino LB Lucas Barbosa had 165 tackles, 6 sacks, and 9 TDs on defense. I think that changes the outcome of league leaders.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!
THANKS ARAM FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
be real~
chino stats will probally not change the outcome of leaders as reported by maxpreps and congratulations. no hopes for "my guy" here - - don't have a kid playing!
i'm back to work.
Aram,
Great job on all your picks. You and you alone have the right to make these teams as you are the San Gabriel Valley Tribune prep sports writer. Funny how so many in here can't grasp that concept.
If the people in here want to make the picks maybe they need to find themselves a newspaper that wants to hire them. Better yet they can start their own paper and put their own kids on first team.
Almost every blogger in here has their own agenda, their son/nephew/brother/neighbor was the best in the entire valley. Damn anyone who doesn't agree with them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but those that spew the venom I have read on here and the personal attacks I have witnessed need to get a reality check. Football is a game and some are acting like it is life or death. To you Raider parents all I can say is WOW. You have let your personal vendetta become fodder for every blogger on here.
So Aram, I hope you take in stride the crap that is being said to you and remember that for me, you have been fair and balanced and this blog has been your No Spin Zone.
To every young man who made first team/second team/honorable mention and to those who didn't. You played a great game called Football, you made it your own, you played it with heart and you played it as a team and you played it for us fans who wish we could see you play just one more game. Well done boys and thank you for giving your all.
For those of you WAITING for the all-league names and looking hard at those stats, be careful not to get your hopes for "your guy" (your son?) too high. The stats are part of it for sure, but there are other factors. And the stats are not necessarily complete either. For example, someone posted Sierra League "Leaders", but I don't think Chino's stats are even included in MaxPreps as of now. So you don't have all the info. the coaches do and they also look at other factors besides just stats, I'm sure. So be warned... and get back to your job.
Those "crossovers" are the Daily Bulletins problem. If they need to nab a few of our schools to make their Teams legit that's their problem not ours. Lines should be drawn so there is no overlap. Now that there has been so much growth in the IE (Kaiser, Los Osos, Colony, Carter, etc, etc) the DB should drop those schools.
The Trib and the Star news seem to cooperate--why not the DB? The Whittier Daily news has figured it out, and they limit themselves to about 13 schools. Damien, Bonita, and Diamond Ranch "geographically" fit more with the Inland Empire (east of the 57 FWY?) but they compete in SGV leagues. Diamond Ranch got less Trib love when they were in the Mt Baldy league, but now that they are in the Miramonte-it makes sense. How San Dimas is in the Inland Empire - who knows?
So the real questions should be for the Daily Bulletin. Why do they have to put kids on from SGV teams?
Aram,
Here is a direct question which many of us would like a direct answer. As a prep writer for the Tribune, I'm certain part of your job in developing a story is to research by making the proper phone calls.
Aside from the blog posting, what have you done to obtain the All League selections? It's apparent by the many postings, this would be a very BIG story.
If you can't or won't follow up on this story, which apparently, many Tribune readers/bloggers are hungry for, can you post the proper phone numbers for me or others to call to get this information?
I realize the All League selections may take away some impact or possibly even conflict with the Tribune's own All Area Team story, but news is news and your audience is awaiting this long delayed story.
Thanks in advance for posting the phone numbers/email address if indeed there are any numbers to call.
Congratulations to the following Glendora High School LEADERS in the very tough Sierra League:
Todd Bruno, Senior, LB: #1 Tackler in Sierra League for a Line Backer (105 Tackles)
Jordan Edmund, Senior, RB: #1 Rusher in Sierra League for a Running Back (1520 yards)
Chris Kovar, Junior, DL: #1 Tackler in Sierra League for a Defensive Lineman (62 Tackles)
Ryan Escalera, Senior, DL (Nose Guard): #1 in Sacks in Sierra League for a Nose Guard (6 Sacks)
And, congratulations to the ENTIRE OL (McGarry, Holmes, Sefton, Hoppers, Castellon, Jackson and RB Vega)for making the necessary blocks and creating the holes allowing RB Edmond to lead the Sierra League in rushing yardage! GREAT WORK!

When the Sun goes down and the Moon goes up...
AMAT will shine.
I like the story you put up on Michael McDonough it was very good. His mom Jody is a greatest supporter to Michael. You can see the love for football in Michaels eyes when he plays and that make him the PLAYER OF THE YEAR. All I have to say is, it was a very good story on him and on what coaching is all about. Thank's to Coach Darryl Thomas and Kevin Glaspy for being coaches. And Thank to COVINA for a good Year!!
Congratulations to Michael McDonough!!
nice aram...if they dont like it then dont be here....but the question remains...when does the issue with the all league listings come out? if there even is an article in the works
FYI: Bruno's tackle numbers are inflated. He is getting credit for 60 "assisted" tackles according to the maxpreps stats.
shut up jared
hile kill you just like he did oct 13
aram take off hile and put on bruno
I told you this would happen mr aram, and now you pay the piper but you can't handle it,weak man, don't get so mad you dug your own hole and guess what theres no way out,you should of thought about this the night you posted this crap wondering if you were doing the right thing or not,you know you can still admit you made some mistakes and be a man and maybe we will forgive you lol.
It's real sad when a professional comes on the "Tribunes" blog and begins to attack others for their opinion.
Maybe some people just don't believe in the decision process or how you came to make the choices! So what! Big deal!
It’s your opinion and your right as the Tribunes Prep Sports Writer to select it, but it
doesn’t mean everybody has to agree.
If everybody makes suggestions and offers some solutions, you already stated, it wouldn’t change. So what’s the point?
I have read many posts where questions have been posed to you and you ignore them, but then jump when somebody goes directly at you.
You can’t have it both ways…
Take the good with the bad and rise above!
Aram
What an immature baby!
If you don't like the blog or opinions of others, maybe you should go get another job.
Remember your not the owner of the Tribune, just an employee!
Take the heat in the kitchen or get out!
A lot of complaining and no solutions. Cry all you want about certain players not making it or how I don't do enough research (which is total BS) but yet NONE of you whiners have said take Player "A" off and put Player "B" on. Therefor, your complaints are pointless and don't mean a thing to anybody. It's one thing to say "so and so" should've made it, but it's another entirely to say not only that, but who they should've made it instead of.
Keep trying all you babies. And those of you coming with the "Aram Awards" or "one sports writer's opinion" can go find another a web site to play on. You don't have to be here. In fact, I don't want you here. You don't have to buy the Tribune or go to the web site. KICK ROCKS if you don't like it.
Joe Amat
The awards were not as accuarate as they could have been!
Aram needs to do alot more in depth research next year! Some choices over others were a COMPLETE MYSTERY!
But what can you say, its one sports writer opinion.
Hey "justplay",
Get a clue!!
Chino is not in the Tribune coverage area and are covered by the Daily Bulletin. THAT"S why they were on that team and not the Tribs.
The awards were as accurate as any can be. Wait until the ALL_CIF Awards are out-then you'll really see some arguing.
Any time you put out an All-Anything it's tough and people are going to be left off. The question to ask yourself is who they should be on instead of - and why?
AT - Nice job !!!

covina- hmmmm cant think of anyone good they beat so i like where they are
bishop amat- would of beaten anyone in the valley (i think)
Aram, What formula did you use to pick 1st team players? or should I say how didn't Hooper and barbosa make 1st team? its just wierd, I guess the inland valley selection was based on performence and not bias. hmm, I guess i just anwsered my own question. The Aram Awards are a joke.
I have problems with the final top ten
only three of the teams in the top 10 play in higher divisions (Damien, Bishop Amat, Glendora) they all were in the top ten but not very high. The ranking system does not use any kind of strength of schedule. Glendora beat 4 top ten teams and some how three of them are above Glendora. That makes no sense. Most teams in this area would not go 7-4 playing the teams the Tartans played. The rankings need to be changed
Michael McDonough is a special player. The story Aram wrote highlights the "Real World" kids live in today. It's not a perfect world out there. Drugs, dilenquency and death are real and kids need to know there is a better life for them out there. Sometimes people just need a hand. Head Coach Darryl Thomas and Kevin Glaspy were there for Mike as were many others. His mom Jody is his greatest supporter and a mom "knows" her son. She's like many other single mothers who DO IT ALL and get very little respect in return. What a great picture Keith Birminham framed. He captured the strenght, conviction and pride that held Mike together. Steely eyes..nary a smile..Coach Thomas in the background in half light..Jody's hand on Mike's shoulder ..Coach Glaspy in full light...Mike up front seated....not one smile ...very very powerful.
Congratulations to Michael McDonough! Big props to Coach Darryl Thomas for showing the love and dedication that make coaches so vital to the development of our youth. Most great coaching is done off the field teaching boys to become men and being there when they need a friend and mentor. But best wishes to the lady behind it all...the strenght behind the glory....Jody. Your love for all your children has always been something that I have always admired and respected. And it came through in Aram's article. great job Aram. You should have seen Mike when he was doing it in Whittier! lol
Everyone at Andrews and North Whittier is cheering for you Mike! We're all going to see you at the ALL STAR GAMES!! Best of luck.

thank you
OK Joe, let me clean that up for you.
my bad, computer messed up
Rhonda you take everything the wrong way...I would never cut jon down...he was a hell of football player and i told him that, i had my talks with him, i helped to push him to do his best just as i did with most of those kids on that team, at least the ones i knew..and what im saying about the living situation is that yes your son had dedication, your son made the effort to continue his education at rowland, but look at the people he had around him...all the support from the school, coaches, and parents, and not once did you ever mention any of them. im not gonna keep going on about this, its a waste of time, not meant for a blog..but obviously you just dont understand what i am trying to say. everytime i say something you dont like, you come on here and tell me whats wrong with it, you did it all year and honestly i dont give shit what you think, but there's another one of my opinions...im gonna end this right now, because im done with this blog.
dont get it,
many players had better stats than those selected. Aram already said stats did not play a major role in the selection. I'll bet the playmaker positions were easy to fill first, then Aram looked at what decent teams did'nt get recognized for playmakers and then filled the rest of the non playmaker positions from these teams.
"All League more meaningfull" was correct in saying if you don't play on a major "high interest team" you probally will not receive recognition regardless of how well you performed. I can give you countless examples of GREAT players with better stats who did not get recognized at all in the All Area Team.
This brings to mind a quote that I remember from an old Trib article on a POY and what it's really all about.

Year to remember
Amat senior excels
By Steve Ramirez
Staff Writer
Students pass it every day, most without a thought.
But for John Haywood, the trophy case inside Bishop Amat High School's Tate Duff Gymnasium provided special motivation this season.
It happened one afternoon last June. Boys basketball coach Ray Lokar and his senior standout had a conversation as they glanced into the trophy case at the retired uniforms. None belonged to a Lancer boys basketball player.
"You know how you get yours up there?" Lokar asked Haywood.
"Set some records?" Haywood responded.
"No," Lokar answered. "You have to be Player of the Year, and that usually goes to the MVP of the team that wins a (CIF-Southern Section) championship."
A few moments passed before a big smile appeared on Haywood's face. Several months later that smile grew bigger after Haywood led his team to the Division III-AA title. For his efforts, Haywood is the Tribune's boys basketball Player of the Year.
"On that day, he realized it's not individual records that bring recognition," Lokar said. "It's team success. If he had the same stats but was on a team that wasn't as successful, he wouldn't receive the same recognition."

Remember it's only a sports writers opinion!!
Stats and performance is what generates awards!
Ask the Heisman winners if their stats and performance on a football field doesn't make a difference!
was fred delilio, coach at workmen mentioned at all for coach of the year aram?...just wondering i kno he didnt do any thing in the playoffs but he did do a lot to change stuff over there just wondering
To subjective for me at December 27,
i agree with you 100%. Aram says himself that nobody was placed on the all area team based soley on stats. This means the selections were very subjective. This is fine. But everyone should realize the All Area team is based on extremely limited information, limited personal observations and limited input. I can see how an extremely talented athlete from a low interest team would get passed up for a average athlete playing on a impact team. The tribune picks the games to attend based on preceived reader interest. Don't blame them. Remember this is a business to sell newspapers, which in turn, increases advertising revenue.
If posters would just stop complaining about the selections and see things as they truly are, you will stop wasting your time objecting.
Two many great athletes in the valley, only 22 can fit on the team. This is why the All League selections are more meaningful. All reat athletes get recognized.
it's not all about stats:
I see your point but respectfully disagree. Look at Chino's Lucas Barbosa's stats they are unreal. 165 tackles 9 sacks 345 yards rushing and 9 scores on offense plus fumble recs. Plays both sides of the ball. Being recruited by Washington and Colorado St. Made CIF 1st team as a junior (that's major).
Chino did not make the playoffs. Does Barbosa suck? Coach Monger left and Chino is not the same...but Barbosa is still the best linebacker in the league in my opinion. Damien players have all said he was the toughest hardest hitting opponent they've faced all year. That's high praise.
The reason no valley team won CIF is simple. Everyone in the valley is happy playing each other...friends playing friends and neighbors playing neighbors. That does not get it done. Schedule OC "passing" teams or Inland Valley "option running teams" or City favorites Carson/Dorsey or Birmingham with all world freshmen running backs like Knox in preseason instead of local bragging rights fueds. That's what gets it done. Damien should schedule Crespi or Notre Dame. But I don't see that happening any time soon. Every team Valley team lost to a team outside our Valley...I think.
Niles from glendora had a better season than hile had and he missed 2 games i dont understand how hile gets first team this is ridiculous
Aram...I've got a question for you. Have you ever had in mind a player that you thought deserved recognition and after speaking to the coach could not understand why the coach wasn't more supportive of that player? No names...just wondering if it's happened. You hear stories in coaching circles. Sometimes you hear stories in coaching clinics. People are human. Or have you ever talked to a coach that just promoted the hell out of a player that you did not believe deserved consideration. My son tells me all the time Rashad Lewis is NOT an ALL STAR DAD!!! He was hot on Karilenko before most and thought Gilbert Arenas was an ALL Star in the making coming out of Arizona. So does it happen in High School All Star selections.
Last year I thought Damien's Brian Mancilla and Brandon Moreland deserved to play in all star games over Preston Browne. Preston was Damien's leading scorer but wasn't it's best player. Does the coach play a part in this? In the All Star game @ Bishop Amat Preston played aweful, by his own admission, and had the ball stolen at least 3 times and then had airballs and turnovers. He was over matched and if you were there you'd agree it was not his best night. Yet he was on the All Area squad and Brian Mancilla is playing at the University of La Verne. You mentioned McD not getting all league last year but got POY...is that what happens? Coaches push some at the expense of others however unintentionally unfair it may seem at the time.
Any thoughts?
no wonder no teams won CIF this year in the valley...its all about the look at me look at me BS!one player cannot make a successfull team...so when u go boasting mike hoopers stats, remember that his team didnt make the playoffs...and the hiles team did. having a player have 150+ tackles only means that the rest of the team SUCKED! hile had less stats because of the talent around him. everyone took care of business on damiens "questionmark" D so of coarse stats were limited. and for the D lineman from rowland putting up "low" stats...why dont u look at the game film and watch him rather than running to max preps to see how many tackles he has... his all league accomplishments were given to him by the coaches, and no one knows more than a coach how solid players can effect gameplans and playcalling. the coaches know who the good players are. its how they handle their tasks on D, not how many takles they have...learn the game before you try to bash players
The first thing I look at for place kickers is how they did in the clutch. Guys who won games with their legs, basically. Flores kicked two game winners as time ran out from distances most college kickers would brick. He beat Monrovia on the road with a kick and Mayfair on the road with a kick. He won the award mainly because of those two things.
as for the kickers..... how does Thomas Flores get it over Diamond Bars kicker, didn't he go perfect this season. and didn't he kick some 50+ yard field goals??
That was actually Mr. Brandon bolden #64 that intercepted a pass and ran.. what was it, atleast 75 yards.. for an awesome touchdown...
Rhonda RaiderMom....goes yard!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a straight away SHOT to DEAD CENTER FIELD !!!!
That was a remarkable story of commitment and dedication. Wasn't your son the kid that ran a fumble in to win a game? To make first team offense and defense is quite the distinction. I applaude you for having faith in your young man to make grown up decisions and distinguish himself both on and off the field. You should be very proud. He is clearly well on his way.
Aram I think you did a great job with the picks. You're never going to make everyone happy but apparently you tried. Damien was clearly the number 1 team at the end of the season and yet ended #3 behind #1 Charter Oak and #2Los Altos with Covina at #4. Yet Damien beat the tar out of Charter Oak, busted up 2 QBs and WR Michael Johnson while Rabe,Luiten,Uche and Walsh detroyed the Charter Oak offensive line all night. That was a clear beating Charter Oak took that night and you were on the sideline to witness the punishment. And those four D-Linemen Rabe, Luiten, Uche, Walsh were more responsible for Damien's run than people realize. Before that Four Man Front was implemented Damien was 2-2.
Los Altos beat Damien but then lost four games in a row and got in the playoffs on a coin flip. How do they merit #2? Damien would have beaten both El Dorado and Charter Oak again.
I respect your efforts to take on the task of All Area recognition but the strenght of Damien's defense was the Defensive Line and other than Rabe at 2nd Team none were given any recognition. Look at the LB numbers for Damien and the 3 LBs Hile, Stokes and Gomez are almost identical in stats game in game out without a break out player. None were exceptional but together they were a solid unit that complimented each other very well. That tells me ALL 4 Defensive linemen did their job of keeping Offensive linemen off the LBs, maintaining outside contain and punishing the QB. Yet most teams ran on Damien but few teams threw on Damien because of the four man push. Temescal Canyon ran the ball 72 times for 511 yards. I can not remember one team that ran outside on Damien...not one! Carter tried but Walsh and Rabe bottled them up!
While I respect your picks I just wanted to give a shout out to the workhorses that made Damien's season possible. And changed a "suspect defense" into a "Mean Green Machine". Not meant to diss anyone but shower love were it belongs.
Well, I apologize if you weren't the one that said that Joe, I was wrong, but let's get something straight right now... my son ALWAYS has a home with me...for you to say I wouldn't give him a roof over his head is bull.. he CHOSE to have the priviledge of sleeping on your floor ( he paid RENT too don't make it sound like you gave him a place to live for free)so that he could go to Rowland high and play football for them, he always had a place with me but didn't want to play for Jurupa valley, he loved his team so much that he slept on your floor, he now rents a room at the age of seventeen, he supports himself fully so that he can go to the school that he loves and to be a Raider.. thats why he slept on your floor, and that dedication is what won him the award,I agree that your son should have won, and I do apologize that I insulted you, but when I see you leaving rude comments on my son's myspace ( all team wtf ) it made me a little pissed off. All my son wanted these past four years is to be a Raider, and if letting him sleep on your floor so he could achieve his goal is bad parenting then so be it, call me a bad parent..letting him be responsible for his own destiny was my choice and I stand by it.
Congrats to all area players May God Bless all of you. Los Altos players also didnt have there last two games on maxpreps reciever 260 yards and 1 int along w/tackles, DL alot more tackles as well as sacks and TE more receptions. Aram,. I have to agree with your picks they are difficult and there definitely is alot of talent to choose from.
Mike mcD 2 in a row thats awesome nice article as well.
RaiderMom(Rhonda)
dont come on here and accuse me of saying shit. i gave your kid a place to stay when you wouldnt, did so much for him when you couldnt provide shit for him and you want to come on here and talk about me not having a good sense of kinship, lol. not once did your boy ever come up to me and thank me or my wife for putting a roof over his head, but i guess the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.. you know what, my son chad played a hell of a year, i do feel he deserved better than honorable mention, but i guess aram didnt. owell, but i dont need you comin on here and talkin about crap you dont even know about.
also you are mistaken...the say it isnt so comments were directed to me not from me. i never once said anything about my kid not getting a better award or even about what your son recieved. so get ur facts straight before you come on here and accuse me.
And I won't lie to any of you - Bruno, Hooper, Field, Kuklinski, Lee, Chris Harris, and many others all can make legit cases. Some positions weren't easy to call, but I have to do my best to make the final ultimate decision. I'm confident the right players were placed in the right spot.
p.s. anybody questioning Slover being OL is nuts. That kid was the best center in the area when healthy and among the best even when he wasn't. He would've had an even bigger season had he not dealt with a a bad knee the entire year. Oh yeah, he played through it for much longer than he should have.
Jon Couwenhoven wasn't placed on the team solely on stats. Nobody was. He played NG and blew up many plays, thus leading other players to make the tackles. Not only that, he was the team's best offensive lineman. A total animal who never left the field. This kid deserves all that he got.
Hello at December 27
Your right!
Mike Hooper is by far the best linebacker in this valley! Nobody and I mean nobody had a year like him!
I would love to see ANY coach in this valley challenge me on this! I would eat his lunch with PERFORMANCE, STATS, CHARACTER, GOOD CITIZEN, GOOD STUDENT and more!
What does R Milller think of this crap from his buddy Aram?
The beast from the East gets screwed!
i didnt see the dl from rowland play this year but! just lookin at his size i can tell hes a nose or defensive tackle...that means he plays somewhere between the gaurds for some of you idiots out there...at that posistion your never known to put up big #'s and you constantly get doubled and tripled...im sure it was very tough for coaches to scheme for rowland because of this kid...keep your head up man dont listen to these haters!
get off of this kids back theres an ol on the 1st team that maybe played in 5 games this year
well i put it like this aram you cant please everyone since this is a team were someone who thinks they should be there wont be on that team and thats the reality of it. There are guys with great stats but it depends on who you play for when you get the stats in the valley if your in a top league and you record great stats your considered the better player than say someone in a lower league. I being a former player in the valley finished once the leading rusher in the valley after 10 games but didnt make playoffs and once finished 2nd in rushing to oscar arzu that yr he went of for 3000yds...but for all that i still got second team all valley cause of were i played so these all valley teams are simply always gonna leave someone who is very deserving of first team off. Its the nature of voting importance of a player of total stats that a player put up and there overall production as a team..So Aram you got it right for the most part. And for everyone that doesnt like the voting oh'well think of it this way atleast you got next season to be a homer and get someone else a first team all valley...
Aram:
You did good! All year long you have supported each and every boy and team. Your job hasn't been easy and am sure it is a thank-less one at times. Your heart is in the right place and we do believe you strive to be fair in your placing of boys on the All-Area Team each year. There will always be men(?) who think they could do a better job, who engage mouth before brain, and who couldn't enjoy life if they weren't complaining about something. Your shoulders are broad, you have a heart of gold, and you do think before you leap. Keep up the good work...you have more fans than foes.
You can't please all of the people all of the time. I read the whole blog and so far only two people have questioned whether my son should have been picked.. so that's great. If you knew him or watched him play, you'd pick him too simple as that. He may not have the numbers other people have but he played both offense and defense, was in the for the whole game pretty much every game and still managed to earn the respect of the coaches in his league , by getting all league first team in offense and defense and co-defense player of the year..I don't give a crap what any of these dudes think, my son did his best and he got rewarded for it. So complain all you want, you can't take the pride I feel away from me. I'm glad to see Jordan Edmond on the team, bot that kid is great! He sure did whip our butts, and it was a pleasure to watch him play. I wish I could have made it out to see Aaron Harris play..
Congratulations to all the guys that made it, and congrats to all the raiders that made second team and honorable mention.
And to "say it ain't so joe", yeah you' re right.. your son Chad should have made first team, but you showed your true self by complaining your son didn't make it and not congratulating my son for making it.. and you're supposedly a good friend of my sons? Thank God your son has a better sense of kinship than you do..
Aram,or is it dummy,my friend you just made a big ass out of yourself, did you pick these names out of a hat looks like you did,i have a question for you and it needs a answer why was the hooper kid from bonita who had 150 plus tackles not on the 1st team list but a kid who had 74 or what ever it was and only played one way from damien on 1st team that being that hile kid are you kidding me than the d lineman from rowland 45 tackles 3 sacks and co defensive mvp in the san antonio league was the coaching staffs on crack or were you all on crack.
Aram...
What happened to Wilson's Daniel Bernal? No way was he a 1st teamer but not even honorable mention? His QB Tomsio got it over him? Gilmore who barely played offense this year over him? My guess is you spoke with Oviedo who must have had some personal beef with the kid so you kept him off...that's the only explanation I can think of. Bernal WAS that team.
Other than that...great job with the picks!
Will it help if we all band together and chant to see the ALL LEAGUE list or will we all be wasting our time?
Stat Man at Dec 27
I understand but we really should only be looking at season totals of ten games. For the most part Max is updated as best it can be.
No other organization includes post season with regular season in awards. Only Aram!
Go figure!
Waiting at Dec 27
I hear you! Lets go Aram, lets see a real list!

The tackle stat is somewhat overrated because most of the leaders in this category come from the bottom-end teams. If a team is giving up a lot of 80-yard drives, there's a lot of opportunities for someone to make a lot of tackles, where a team that records a lot of three-and-outs, the opportunities are less. I can remember a few years where a kid from a very bad Mountain View was second in the Valley in tackles. As someone else said, sacks are subjective as well, mainly because most high-school stat keepers fail to realise that once the quarterback has given up the pass, he's a ball-carrier and can't be sacked, even if he is tackled behind the line of scrimmage.
I guess the best method for picking this teams is like Aram said, to go with what he sees, or what others have seen.
is this the 22 best players in the valley or is someone just tryin to please the fans and coaches and show everyone some love
-1 player from amat??
-only 2 players off the best defense in the valley (co)??
-no offensive lineman from damien??
for all you farrar haters i hope it stung real bad to see who the coach of year was!
CONGRATS BIG LOU!
WHEN SO WE GET TO SEE ALL LEAGUE WINNERS??
EVERYONE IS ALWAYS ASKING AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW.
IS THERE ANY BODY OUT THERE JUST NOD IF YOU CAN HEAR ME. IS THERE ANYONE HOME?
Max Preps,
You are right the Coaches enter the stats, However they sometimes do not enter all the games. There are a couple kids on arams list that are missing a few complete games worth of stats. Figure it out. some schools played 12-13 games this year but when you look on Max Preps there are only 9 or 10 games on there.
To subjective
I agree what happen to Glendora and Baldwin Parks OL those holes got there some how.
Max Preps is right!
The coaches are the only ones who post or have passwords to do so!
Most of stats have been updated. Read through each category
Everyone needs to remember Aram is going off stats from Max Preps and ALOT of those numbers are wrong. Coaches dont always have the time to update the stats. One of the LB'S has alot more tackles than what the paper says.
Some real ass kissing
What a GREAT Observation!
That is a lot of Covina and Charter Oak players you got there Aram...Personally, I believe Todd Bruno should definately be on there at Linebacker...As for the lineman on both sides, I was kindof dissapointed wiht a few of the picks..
Overall, you have a solid tema but when you had all thsi time to choose form I'd of liked to see the BEST group put together and frankly you didn't do that...It's really dissapoitning..
WHAT WAS YOUR FORMULA?
Just curious as to if you actually had one.....?
Stat Man
I agree with you!
Good old Aram just gets all butt hurt when people don’t agree with him.
Here is how the RB play makers list should have been conducted.
1st team
Chris Harris – Leader by far in valley!
Jordan Edmond
2nd team
Aaron Harris
Nico Barbone
Ira Thomas
Honorable Mention
Aubrey Haynes
The above list clearly outlines STATS, PERFORMANCE AND LEADERSHIP!
Linebackers
Michael Hooper 1st Team
Take off any one of the three Aram picked, because Hooper stats DOMINATED ANYBODY in this valley!
Wide Receivers
How does a guy like Jermaine Thomas get overlooked with no respect? He only leads the valley with 1160 yards, 14 td’s, five games over 100 yards, 21 yards per catch and finished 8th overall in SS.
BRING ON THE ALL LEAGUE HONORS!
Sometimes, Mike the Clone, I wonder if you and Aram are the same person!
Aram,
Good choice of RB's Edmond (Glendora) and Harris (Baldwin Park). Question, why aren't any Glendora or Baldwin Park OL's selected? The holes for the above RB's (who gained top yardage) didn't magically appear by themselves! Overall, your offensive picks are pretty good. But I, like many other posters, have some questions regarding your defensive selections.
No disrespect intended, I'll wait for the All League selections. They tend to be more representitive of the best players as seen through the eyes of the coaches and players.
I have throughly reviewed the All Area defensive selections and believe stats did not play a major part in the process. If you don't rely on stats, than you must rely on subjective analysis. Unfortantly, in my opinion, the Tribune doesn't get enough actual playtime observation (subjective) of each player, in comparison to coaches who view films, to obtain a credible list of the best players.
Thats just my opinion.
Greetings!
I am Mike the Clone and you are Not!
With that said:
Aram,
Great job on the Tribunes All Area Team! I really wonder how many of these whinny little babies who are crying about this and that really actually did their homework made calls to “All the area coaches for their thoughts or even went to another teams game other than their own to actually see your selections. And I’m just not talking about my bagpiper button wearers here either.
Sure I wanted to see more “bagpipers on there but you know more than I. In my heart I wanted to see Todd Bruno on the number one squad but hey there are some great linebackers out there. I’m sure Todd knows he gave it all out there and I’m sure he would tell you it’s all about the team and not him. And with Jordan it could not have happen to a nicer kid and athlete and a true gentleman. I know they both feel the same way when it comes to awards.
Sorry you have to hear it from some of my “button wearing bagpiper honks but most of them think with their hearts and not with their heads. They chastise you oh please………..just remember these are the same people who accept a mediocre win loss record from a mediocre coach and coaching staff and then they wonder why more “bagpipers aren’t represented…I mean come on some of you “bagpipers honks you really make yourselves look silly or better yet just plain stupid.
Aram you had a tough job. You know better than any of these “home team button wearing it’s all about my boy honks. You worked the schedules, talk to the coaches, asked the questions, got the answers, did the little “Stevie Hartman number crunch and wrote the stories. That’s more than any of these crybabies did I bet.
So I say nice job A.T.
I am Out!
Mike the Clone
ONE MANS VOTE- ONE MANS PAPER!
GO FOR IT! MAYBE then management will knock some sense into you or should I say STATS!
the MVP of the San Antonio leage was Nick Feilds MLB with ALOT of tackles and he did get on your All Area Tribune Team if he did which he should have that would have made 3 players from the big West Covina Team... GO BULL DOGS. Keep up the GREAT work Aram dont worry about the hatters......
Aram,
Is there no one at the Trib who can call the leagues for the All League results so these kids can get an accurate summation of leaders in the area leagues?
It seems there isn't a lot of effort by the Trib to get these results aside from your blog notice.
Can it be that the Trib puts little effort in obtaining news when they are not generating the poll (i.e. All Area Team).
this dnt mean ne thing sports writers always think they kno so much about the games they talk about and the sports they write about...its high school sports no biggie we wont remember any of these guys in 4 to 5 years anyways
I like that "The Aram Tolegian Awards." In fact, I'm going to go ask upper management if we can call it the "Aram Tolegian Tribune" from now on. And our slogan will be "It's one man's paper."
What at December 27
This is why the "Aram Tolegian Awards" don't have much creditability!
Way too many mistakes and BS!
Just remember its one man's opinion
It is really nice seeing slover from south hills on that list. When i attended the los altos game he had some big hits but alot of times had to come out of the game due to the knee injury he sustained. Its nice seeing a kid like that go out in pain every play to help his team win.
congrats to him!
Where's bonita wide receiver AGUAYO, 2nd in receiving, Aram!!!!didnt you see the tapes you recorded at bonita's games????This kid is awesome to see run!!!
"What? is a girl "
Your funny! First you say numbers are not that important when refering to Bruno, then you want to correct Mendrun's numbers! Your a joke.
Intangibiles are way to subjective. Go with the stats! If you go with stats, the All Area team (especially defense) would look quite a bit different!
Hey What?..
Relax! Just accept that Hile is a better player than Bruno. Bruno may have better numbers but it is the intangibles that makes Anthony an All star.
By the way Mendrun's numbers are wrong.. he had 2280 yards passing with 22 TD's not 17.
Aram,
Without naming names, you have a 1st team DL who has 45 tackles and 3 sacks. Again, without naming names, there are many other DL's in each league with greater tackles and sacks who didn't appear on any of your selections. I'm not being mean spirited, I only seek answers to some of your picks which don't add up. Can you please explain this one in particular?
Aram, this is totally bull...You weren't giving Glendora any credit at the start of the season and then you got better but now you have fallen off the map again..
Todd Bruno-
This kid wasn't jumping onto piles or any of that bullcrap....This kid was chasing down people like Mike McDonaugh(When Glendora OWNED Covina for ANOTHER year),Johnny Crespo(When Glendora defeated Charter Oak), and Phillip Chase(When Glendora beta Rowland)....Glendora proved you wrong all year and this kid was the main reason for all of this...Todd Bruno deserves to be on that 1st team there is no doubt....The stats aren't lying as you say....They aren't..He was a FIRST-TEAMER not a 2nd teamer or any of that bull....I'd love to see you try and justify why he isn't on the 1st team to that kid or his parents or to Coach Pasquerella....That is inexcusable Aram...At your line of work, you should not have all this bias....You can't honestly tell me Bruno wasn't a first teamer..Anthony Hile is not a 1st teamer....Just because he is rich, plays for Damien, and has a cool little "Headband" doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day, Todd Bruno owns him.
Hey, Raul, you most likely have NEVER even met Coach Thomas. He has more character and leadership in his pinky finger than you have in your whole body. Don't you think he evaluated the situation in dealing with McD. As far as the situation that happened OFF THE FIELD, do you expect the football or any other coach to deal w/every issue that happens off the field and not at school? One thing about an EXCELLENT football coach is the ability to COACH to every player, get EVERY player to respond. I've heard NFL players as well as college players say it, an EXCELLENT coach knows that you must coach to the player, each player does not respond to being yelled at every day of every practice. I guess you didn't notice that after that incident at the beginning of the year, there were NO OTHER ISSUES involving this kid. Looks like Coach Thomas did something right. Now, if you still feel like bashing Coach Thomas, why don't you drop me a note, I'll be glad to show you a thing or two about determination and fight that I've learned from the man. Punkass!
Sorry Aram for that. I've sat back too long this year and read people slamming one of the hands down BEST coaches in the area. Coach Thomas doesn't deserve that.
Jon Joe: How can he be left off 2nd team. When the Saints actually threw, it went to him. He had 20 catches for 500 yards and 12 TDs. That is ridiculous.
LOL , did not mean to offend rather to make mention how someone who performed all season long for a team like Rowland and was ranked #1 LB preseason did not make 1st or 2nd team? No one ever mentioned Chad Norys was having a bad season but always mentioned his leadership. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Can't comment more never seen him play. Maybe other's did.
Anyone see the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin 's All Valley selections?

No need for anyone to get mad and get personal about this or that...and that goes for Aram as well. The truth is Aram did the best he could. He relies on coaches opinion as well as seeing players in person. Maybe even looked at film.
I thought posting these selections from a greater geographical area (Norco to San Dimas) would give some insight into some unreal numbers and a different opinion on the same players. Hard to believe Chino's LB Lucas Barbosa numbers...165 tackles and he scored 9 TDs on offense. That's just sick! He also made CIF last year as a Junior.
Aram no need to make people say their names to give an opinion. That only results in personal attacks and witch hunts. You made your selections for two reason, amongst others, to give credit where credit is due and to sell papers and stimulate conversation and dialogue. That's what's taking place. The reason most won't say who shouldn't be on is the player has nothing to do with the selection. The reason people will say who should be on is because the player performance warrants mention if not selection.
No need to stress Aram..you had to know it was coming. You did however show great courage with the POY selection. The easy thing would have been to make it CO-POY(Mendrun & McD) when it wasn't warranted. McD was just that special and anyone who saw him play KNOWS that.
I think I'm going to cry...what a "great" article about McDoughnut. This guy was a good player in a weak league and put up great numbers against a bunch of sorry teams. He plays 2 good teams all year and his team loses. Hopefully this kids graduates from high school but I seriously doubt it. Oh and what about the disciplinarian Thomas...suspending him for a WHOLE QUARTER after being arrested. Way to prepare these kids for life after football coach.
Now Aram, that really is a retorical question. Who will want to suffer the slings and arrows from knocking a kid who you have already mistakenly placed on the list.
Aram I'm going to put in my two cents about a player. Dorian Wells of Bishop Amat is probably hands down the best all around athlete in the Valley. He had to do it all for Amat this year. He deserves first team as a reciever. His numbers as a reciever may not have been the best, but if you saw the quarterback who was throwing to him all year, when he wasnt playing QB, the ball was being thrown at least ten yards over his head in the open field the majority of the time. With an accurate QB Dorian Wells will be a deadlier offensive weapon. Dorian could quit possibly be the a candidate for player of the year in 2007. Look out for Amat next year if they find a good QB.

I can tell I'm going to feel like Bill O'Reilly painlessly asking the "Do you want the U.S. to win in Iraq" question.
It's not going to be good enough to say the selections are wrong. If you think somebody got stiffed, then tell me who they should've been put on the team instead of.
I can tell that's not going to happen. OK, keep the wack comments coming. Somebody will eventually step up.
Aram
Have another beer while your making excuses!
Stat Man and Number Cruncher!
You pretty right on!
LOL
Exactly!
Tolegian
ITS A SIMPLE TASK BASED ON PERFORMANCE!
Congrats to Amat players Austin, Wells, McBride, and Fletcher. Despite a rough season, it's good to see some Amat players get some well deserve love. D.Austin without a doubt deserves to be listed as one of the top lineman in the area. Keep up the good work and as Art Laboe would say every Sunday "DON"T LET NO ONE GET YOU DOWN"
Next Year, it's ON
GO Lancers
"Say it isnt so"
First of all thats pretty low to come on here and talk about a kid like that...That aint right and second of all...you know as well as i do he belongs higher up on that list, maybe not 1st team but definetely 2nd team...That kid led his team this year the best that he could do just as he did last year. But hes used to it...goes out there dominates and gets no recognition for it...I look at the list and think to myself, "what a joke!" you got Leading all area tackler Hooper on the 2nd team list. Kuklinski who was better than or just as good as all the linebackers on there. I guess all u can say is it was, one man's opinion and that's all it is...Too the Kid's out there who played there asses off this year and got screwed, just wanna say Great job and dont worry about none of this because its only one man's opinion, and all you get is your picture in the paper and a 5 cent writeup...Good luck to the CLass of 07 in college were it really matters and to the rest of your lives.
Stat Man,
It's not enough to say "these guys should've made it." Show some guts and tell us all who you'd take off the team to put them on. Attach your real name while you're at it.
Number Cruncher
I would agree with most of your assessment, but some play makers come to mind as well as some others! But, what can you say, it's the Aram Tolegian Awards!
Six players come to mind right away!
Chris Harris should have been 1st team. How in the world do you rush for 2146 yards, finish 12th in Southern Section and get second team? You outperform everyone in the valley and are second team?
Nico Barbone- Probably the hardest hitting back to come around in long time and finished 4th in rushing in the valley! Should have been second team because his stats clearly outperformed the other two! What a big mistake here!
Mike Hooper- Wow, maybe the biggest mistake of the century! OUTPERFORMED everyone on the list and finished 6th in Southern Section and is rewarded 2nd team? This kids stats is amazing for 10 games, not 11,12,13,14.
Brandon Lee- Another warrior who got screwed yet outperformed the leaders! Finished 16th in Southern Section. His stats are well worth 1st team!
Gabriel Rodriquez- Another finisher at number 24 in Southern Section. How in the world does this kid get over looked?
When will All League nominations come out??????
Agree with "number cruncher",
No mistakes on play makers. Non play makers (d line, o line and LB's) have several questions.
What happened to preseason #1 Linebacker Chad Norys? Honorable mention?
I do not have a horse in the race, however, I am a major HS football fan who gets out to see the games and follows the stats. First, congrats to Mcd for POY. The selection of Mcd was right on. No other player had near the impact for his team, league and area football in general.
Most of Aram's picks (playmakers)were just as expected, good selections. Decisions on playmakers are really much easier than the non-playmaker positions. However, there were several picks (some O & D lineman and LB's for example) which didn't seem to follow any statistical references. Beleive me when I say I am no neophyte when it comes to prep sports and I take number crunching to a new level. I will not mention any names to protect the players, however, based on stats, several area leaders were not given any recognition or was given lower ranking status then was statistically warranted.
I'm certain Aram's criteria was not based entirely on stats and he had good reason for his selections. Perhaps the All League nominations (selections by coaches) will provide a more accurate ranking of non-playmaker positions.
congrats mike, proud of u man. well time to go get ready for next year
