It could be a long year for the East SGV boys hoopsters ...

Early tournament results are troubling ...

Glendora Tournament goes to Pasadena. Glendora, which used to own this thing, was out somewhat early. And the Tartans lost to Alta Loma in one of the conso games.

Arroyo Tournament goes to La Canada The Spartans beat Keppel in the finals.

Two eastside tourneys and no eastside teams around at the end. Hopefully, things get better.

Well, the result for the Tartens was one bad performance (20 point loss to Capo Valley...excellant team, but we played poorly) and one good performance against LB Poly. The bad news is that was a loss as well, but a 2 pt. final that the Tartens came back in, tied at 61, and had a shot to tie or win in the last possession, but couldn't get a shot off. The main difference was the execution and shooting; both were much better in the Poly game. Here's to hoping that is a sign of improvement for this talented team still trying to find its rhythm.

Should be some fun games to see the next couple of nights in N. Orange Co. 32 team tourney was down to the top 8 on Wed. with several teams from the Times top 25. The Tartans lost a tough battle to a quick and surprisingly good shooting LB Jordan (6-1) team. The game after was a huge match-up of undefeated Capo Valley vs. #9 Los Alomitos. Capo led most of the way, but Los Al squeezed out a win at the end. So Glendora plays Capo tonight and will match up Saturday with either Hawthorne or LB Poly on Saturday. Yikes! We should find out a little more about this team after these two games.

That's Sgv WEST players that did not come to Andre's aid.

Actually he could have called a time out to keep them off the court. Who put them back in? They were sent off the court by the refs with 7 minutes to go. MOST FANS THOUGHT THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN EJECTED!!!They even had their jerseys out. They came in out of a time out with a little over a minute. Who's responsible for that? Or did the players over rule the coaches? How did the players get back in the game. When they were both taken out? If that responsibility falls on Goldstein , TOO BAD! You're right it was classless. Get your facts straight. Who's responsible....if it isn't Goldstein....Maybe I missed it just like I missed his outrage and admonishments of both players after the Flagrant fouls that STOPPED AN ALL STAR GAME! That is what's stupid. Our do you remember ANY SG EAST players or coaches coming to the Bonita's players aid? Or mentioning the claslesss act in the paper the next day.

Hey Basketball Coach,

Do you even know what you're talking about or are you just making stupid assumptions?

La Salle coach Steve Goldstein is one of the classiest coaches in the entire San Gabriel Valley. He wouldn't send out "thugs" to "committ a flagrant foul." Any person who says otherwise is just plain ignorant.

The fact of the matter is that both Blair kids acts were classless like you said and did indeed diminish the All-Star Game. However, to suggest that Goldstein would send out players to go hurt other players is absolutely ridiculous and shows how little you know about high school basketball. I guess those that can't... coach.

So why don't you and Aram just go on talking about football for the rest of year and leave boys basketball to the West Side.

Hey Fred J~

Maybe this year the Star News All Star coaches won't resort to putting in those "Blair" thugs with 1 minute to go so they could commit a flagrant foul on Bonita's pont guard on a break away steal and layup. That was CLASSLESS!!!! Both Star News players had previously been taken out of the game for their thuggish, classless conduct on the court. They both went back into the game just to beat that kid up. The game ended before time expired because Bonita's 5'8" 125 guard was out (concussion) How classless is that ! An ALL STAR game called early because of THAT thrash! Double Fragrant fouls!!!

Still see the Star News players laughing and grinning with delight for their punk ass behavior. So Fred J.. they are nothing to brag about. You were there and so was Aram...am I lying?

What did the Star News coaches do?...NOTHING! Did the players from the Star News chastise the Blair players ...You know better than that! It was THUGGISH! CLASSLESS!!! and DISGUSTING!!!!

Good luck in that boys all-star game Aram, looks like the Star-News will improve to 3-1 against the Trib boys...I put the over/under at 14 points.

The Tartans will likely follow last year's path. In fact they havn't won their own tournament for 3 or 4 years now. They lost the last 2 games last year and had 3 loses at this same point. After a solid 20+ win tonight over a formerly undefeated Whittier Christian (that 6'10" center's a nice player too) in the first game of the Sonora Tourney, they are 6-2 and slowly making progress. Ivancich & Beckwith need to step up a bit more on offense along with the bench, but they are doing a solid job around the two offensive weapons Cortez & Gordien.

glendora said:

Glendora will be perfectly fine...Dominic Tiger-Cortes may be the best player in the area and the combo of Gordien and Cortes likely will be the best around here.....The team got off to a late start with tryouts, etc. but they will be up to speed come league time and should gell towards the end of the year much like last year.......
Expect some solid contributions from Curtis Brothers as he gets more comfortable playing...He has some amazing ability.

Good call Jeffrulerson. I changed it, but same point.

I'm pretty sure that Glendora didn't play Los Osos in the tournament. They lost to Vista Murrietta and Alta Loma.

I don't think that's any discredit to the teams in the esgv. The two tournaments are very good one's with very good teams in it. It's going to be interesting to see how it all turns out in the end.
