Sorry about the video highlights ...
The audio came in very choppy ... but rather than not having any video at all, I urged the boys to come up with one anyway. It's one of these things that you don't know about until you get back to the Tribune and see what you've got. The picture is all good, don't adjust your computers, it's just that the sound came in very choppy. I know it's annoying, but it's better than nada.
As a side note, Keith Birmingham put together a nice audio slideshow that I think you'll like.

Aram?
Who wins between Norco and Orange Lutheran?
Any thoughts?
Shouldn't Oaks Christian have played De La Salle if they truely are the best team in So. Cal? Or is that another "concession" to the "Rich and Powerful" by CIF?
Any thoughts?

hey Aram, Ive got a few questions for you:
So what do you think of the new playoff and division breakdown for the State Championships? I personally think its garbage. Orange Lutheran is arguablly the best team in southern California (to make their case they beat a very good Long Beach Poly team and played in most likely the hardest league in southern california, the Trinity league). Regardless of division, Orange Lutheran should get the chance to play Concord De La Salle as the top game and so forth..There is also Oaks Christian...I almost forgot. Even if they are the best team in the state, I would like to have seen them try and go through the entire trinity league or even a harder schedule before getting a shot at the big boys. Aram, give us your take on the new state championship system (AKA the BCS...what a crock) maybe this deserves a whole blog its up to you, but I would like your take on it.

WR/RB Top Five?,
In the spirit of goodwill.... That was a bunch of malarkey! To put it mildly. First what is the WR/RB combo Top Five. That's football Jumbalaya! A little bit of this and that...It's soup!
Top 5 WR is one animal and Top 5 RB is another. Think Lions and Tigers...both "cats" but....get the point.
Here you go Top Five RB/WR in the NFL(To illustrate the invalidity of such a thing)
1) LaDamion Tomlinson
2) Marvin Harrison
3) Terrel Owens
4) Willy Parker
5) Non sense! Non Sense!
Compare apples to apples and oranges to orange...
All that work and ...and no Jon Joe? Rex Foss? at WR? (please) Don't read just the stats... "top anything" runs deeper than #####'s it's quality and quanity that count.
That was strange...lol

I nearly put Foss up as number five but I used this as strictly WR/RB and not taking into account the defensive performance because if I had taken that into account Foss likely would have been top 3 player....He did a good job all eyar...Ira Thomas was very solid as well.

END OF SEASON TOP 5 RB's/WR's:
1.Jordan Edmond RB-1520 Rush Yds. 433 Rec. Yds. 15 TD's(13 Rush.)
Jordan capped off his Glendora High football career on a high note dominating the whole Sierra League stepping up when Glendora needed him most.Unfortunately, he did not have a stellar outing in the Playoffs mainly due to dismal blocking. He still managed to pinch off 81 rushing yds and 28 recieving yds.
2.Michael Johnson WR-848 Rec. yds. 42 Rush. Yds. 12 TD's(7 Rec.)
Johnson had a slow start to the season but he was there for Charter Oak when they needed him the most.Against the 1st seeded, La Mirada High School, he helped to lead his Chargers to a 24-21 victory with 170 recieving yards and two touchdowns. His late season push through the playoffs was the key factor to Charter Oak's monumental run through the CIF Playoffs as the sixteenth overall seed.
3.Aaron Harris RB-1463 Rush. Yds. 149 Rec. Yds 30 TD's(28 Rush.)
Unfortunately for Harris, we take level of play into account.Harris has incredible stats but taking into account the level of competition he played, it is tough to put him over Johnson or Edmond.Nonetheless, his stats are still very impressive as he racked up the stats all season long.He was as consitent as they come but his only two formiadable opponents were also his two worst outings.Against Covina, he put up 17 rushing yards on 10 carries, 15 of those 17 yards came on one run.
4.Michael Harris RB-1299 Rush. Yds. 24 Rec. Yds. 20 TD's(19 Rush.)
Harris was huge for Chino Hills providing many fireworks for his squad.Against an immensley talented Mission Viejo squad, Harris was able to rush for 102 yards on only 13 carries punching in the Huskies only score of the game.He had a huge game against Glendora punching it in once on the ground while providing 148 rushing yards on 16 carries. After his terrific junior season, we can only expect to see more of this kid next season. He put the Sierra League on notice and showed his fiery passion and toughness by playing with an injury against Damien only to carry the rock 26 times picking up 147 grueling yards.
5.Travis Eschardies WR-1115 Rec. Yds. 50 Rush. Yds. 8 TD's(7 Rec.)
Travis had a great season helping to form the best QB-Wideout connection of any SGV team this season.Travis racked up huge recieving yards and did not fade down the stretch compiling four straight 100+ recieving performances to end his season including 169 huge yards against Chino Hills in the Sierra League championship. He was an instrumental special teamer as well for the Spartans racking up over 240 yards returning punts.Travis and senior quarterback, Mark Mendrun, really provided fireworks all season for Damien whose offense averaged nearly 30 points a game this season in route to a 9-4 record overall and a perfect 5-0 league record.
HONERABLE MENTION:
Nico Barbone RB(1330 Rush. 22 Rec. 12 TD's)
Trevon McNair RB(1168 Rush. 333 Rec. 17 TD's)
Jamal James WR(999 Rec. 75 Rush. 13 TD's)
CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON A GREAT SEASON.THIS IS NOT THE VIEWS OF THE SGV,JUST A FAN WHO LOVES HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
Thx for the videos all year long. You guys did a wonderful job spreading around the coverage and making it great to be a high school football fan!Thx again, looking forward to next year already!
