UPDATE: Southwest Division championship game site still TBA ...
It's looking like Citrus College. Mt. SAC reportedly took down their goal posts, so the game probably won't be there. Supposedly the El Dorado people wanted to play at CS Fullerton, but that's not really a CO home game anymore. Citrus hasn't been locked up, yet. But that's the preference for the Chargers.

I would be carefull not to try to get into a pound fest in the middle! From what I saw, E.D. plays a soft defence untill you get in the red zone! pounding it there my bring you away with nothing! Time to give them the boot, screen, etc.. I would put our recievers up against them with no problem, you know who's comming down with the ball. I think this will be the most challenging game E.D. has seen. If we mix it up with all the tallent we have, this should be fun!

El Dorado has some interesting stats. 2000 yards passing. 2000 yards rushing. (great balance)
1000 yard rusher, 1000 yard receiver. (again great balance)
Charter Oak---Who shows up for the Championship game? Does Farrar and Co. have another "miracle" in them to make it 10 straight?
It's a Championship Game and who ever gets momentum first I believe will win. Good luck to both teams and everyone stay healthy and play with class...you're both finalists!

As a C.O. fan, I attnded the L.A. v. E.D. game. E.D. was begging to give that game away! there Q.B. can't pass well, they have 2 great player #15, a reciever, he is very fast, If the Q.B. can get the ball to him. #40 a very good back. He is very physical, hold him and you win this game. There D only looks good under pressure in the red zone. C.O. has a really good chance to win this game with the right play calling.
Go C.0.

The way Los Altos almost stole the game from El Dorado gives CO a good measuring stick on the Golden Hawks' playing ability. They are a good team. Defense is their strength. They shut down LA's offense. Some point to LA's QB size. But Thomas had one great run (77 TD run) and that was it.
The key to the Golden Hawks offense is QB Coutler. He is getting the ball to the right players. In his last seven games, he is 91-133 passing (68%), avg. 205 yds a game, and 20-3 TD-Int. ratio.
CO can win this game with their usual great defense. Johnson has to shut down El Do's great WR Cardenas. They HAVE to put a lot of pressure on Coulter, just like last week against Trabuco Hills and against Bonita's QB.
The offense is improving every week. QB Allen is coming along and he has to get the ball to Johnson. The O-line has to dominate like they KNOW they can. Snowden is getting better every week.
I feel it should be a great game with CO winning 24-14. CalPreps accuracy % takes a dive during the semis and finals every year.
Go Chargers! Win for yourselves, win for your school, win for your city, win one for the SGV.

I agree with you MAT, I don't see how calpresp has this game 27-7 el do. I have not seen el do play, but if LA hung in there I believe CO can beat this team. CO is on an incredible run right now. Both offensively and defensively. I just don't see that kind of score. I think it will be a low scoring game with CO winning 17-10 but I am bias. I don't believe CO will have any trouble with the running game, but the d-backs need to step up this week, just like they did against Trabuco hills. That qb was HUGE and with a cannon of an arm. I believe I only saw him on his ass in the backfield two times the whole game. D-line needs to get more pressure on the qb this week. Offensively CO is running on all cylinders. O-line has stepped up their play and giving Kanan some huge holes to run through and Chris Allen enough time to hit his receivers.
About Citrus as a game site, I think this is a great place to play. Plenty of seats, plenty of parking and good food. We played Glendora here this year. One thing to note...I may be mistaken but I do believe CO has lost the last two games they have played here. Once to Glendora this year and in the finals in 2000 (I think) to Los Altos.

Citrus has high stands and a press box, has anyone making these comments actually been there?
Posted by: Prep League Fan | December 4, 2006 11:52 AM
i agree csuf is a way better stadium than citrus...but that makes it a home game for eldo...co had to travel to trabuco last week and eldo was home...co won the toss so all you oc people WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE! i hope azusa/glendora is not to ghetto for you people
Posted by: co won the toss | December 4, 2006 11:49 AM
It would be an honor to play at CSUF for this game. There will be no home field advantage for either team, but the stadium holds like 4 times as many fans, and the perspective for Video taping is much better, since the stands rise hign and there are even press boxes.
I bet the game would be televised if at CSUF, and would bring light to both teams, which are deserving of more recognition than they've been given in the press.

Congratulations to CO. The only one left standing from the SGV. Good Job. I cannot believe Cal preps / Max Preps has a prediction of 27-7 El Dorado winning this game?? El Dorado has a good defensive front I will give them that but their offense is suspect...their QB is average at best. Their recievers are good and run good timing routes , of course whoever wore #11 in the Los Altos secondary was making them look like Lynn Swan and Jerry Rice. Lots of bump and run and lots of blind side blitzes and you put that offense in check real fast. I see CO winning this game...It will be close but I am not sold on this El Dorado team as one of the best in the OC...If Los Altos does not run out of gas in that fourth quarter they could have beaten this El Dorado Team....I am picking CO 24-21...Those recievers from ED run great routes but it seems like they do not like to go over the middle in fear of getting cracked....Take note CO, LA hung in there with this team and could have stolen this game...This is a very normal team......I smell upset on this Cal Preps Prediction.

Aram & Lucky thanks for the tip on Petrillo's That sounds like a plan. I'm looking forward to a great game.

Benny.... Petrillo's large pizza (best in the valley) $20, coffee at the Daily Grind (corner of Route 66 and Barranca) $4.50, ticket for C.I.F Southwest division championship game $8, watching COHS and EDHS throw it down Friday night at Citrus College......"priceless"
Posted by: Lucky | December 3, 2006 7:18 PM
Benny,
OK, I get it. My bad. Hey, just get up here early ... around 3 p.m. ... go to Petrillo's, eat some pizza, walk around, then go to the game.

Where is the La Salle game at?
Posted by: Elias Buckwalter | December 3, 2006 6:25 PM
Yeah, I was kidding! I'm an El Dorado fan and I didn't want to drive into Glendora at 5:00 on a Friday. Can you blame me?
Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf | December 3, 2006 6:06 PM
Benny,
Uh, are you kidding me? Citrus is very very close to CO. Very close. Like 5-10 minutes away. CS Fullerton is pretty far and that's basically a home game for El Dorado in the North OC.
Posted by: Aram | December 3, 2006 6:02 PM
Aram - What's wrong with Cal State Fullerton? It's probably the same distance from Charter Oak as Citrus. I've never been to Citrus but Titan Stadium is perfect for a CIF Championship game.
