FOOTBALL RUMORS: Maybe this will help clear up some questions
There are so many questions out there that I just figured I'd start a new thread to answer them with what I know. To those who think football season is over, think again. Just being honest, but it never ends. And, it remains extremely popular. Hey, the NFL Network does it all year, why not us? Anyway ... here's the latest rumors.
But first a www.insidesocal.com/aram disclaimer: These are just rumors, so don't trip out. Fortunately, I think there's a lot of truth to some of them. But, who knows?
GANO UPDATE: I've got it from a second reliable source that Los Altos coach Greg Gano is interested in the La Verne job. Stay tuned ...
Bryce McBride to LA: I've heard this is a done deal from several reliable sources. So, I callled Coach Gano on Monday to ask him if it's true and he said "I won't comment on anybody unless they actually check-in." Amat's 2nd semester started Tuesday. Los Altos' starts next Tuesday. Gano said I'd be the first person he calls if "someone new comes in." What a huge impact McBride would make at LA. Wow! I've heard nothing about Marcus Wagner, however. But I have heard two other lower level Amat players would be going to LA, also. I will check the wanted ads in the Trib classifieds to see if there's anything like "Wanted: QB, RB and WR to play for annual CIF title contender." The Conqs have to replace all three positions this year.
Mark Verti: I called Coach Verti on Monday and he said he expected a couple of players to leave. I will call him today to find out who checked out because it all should've gone down on Tuesday. I doubt he can say much more other than who checked out.
Cogburn AND Garay to LA: It could be an incredible off-season for the Yankees, er Los Altos, if this happens. I've heard about Cogburn possibly being a Conqueror, but not Garay. Makes sense, though. LA needs a QB. Might as well get one of the Valley's passing leaders to go with the Valley's leading receiver. But, but, but I've also heard that Cogburn did some info-seeking at St. Paul during Christmas break. LA getting both of these players seems a littler far fetched. In fact, I doubt they get either.
South Hills: I've heard from one reliable source that South Hills would be getting a player or two from Amat. I don't put too much stock into this.
Diamond Bar: So much for the Brahmas having a replacement named by the first of the year. They are in their first phase of interviews this week. AD J.T. Cameron didn't give me much more info than that. I asked him who applied, but naturally, he wouldn't say. But the vibe I got is that former Walnut coach Jerry Person isn't interested. So much for that.
Robert Oviedo: Supposedly, Coach Oviedo has a meeting on Thursday with Wilson's upper-brass. They could be talking scholastics or they could be talking about the direction of the football program. I don't know why, but I keep hearing he's in jeopardy of being ousted. Like Wilson could do any better. I hope this isn't true.
Gano to La Verne: This is a new one that's started to pop up. One person told me he's inquired about the job. Wouldn't it be interesting if Gano left LA for LV right after all these impact transfers landed on his doorstep? I don't know if I buy this one. But this source has been pretty good in the past and supposedly there's interest.
Not a rumor, just an Aram thought: I really wonder why/how LA has become the shoulder to cry on for disgruntled players. I don't begrudge any player/parent who leaves one school for another with the ambition of either winning a championship or improving the chances for a scholly. And I don't begrudge LA for being that school. I get it, players want to play for Uncle Greg. But, I do wonder how that came to fruition. Is it coaches? Is it the Cody/Harwell effect? Obviously, given James Davis' situation, LA isn't immune to losing players, too. But LA always seems to gain more than it loses. You lose James Davis, you get Ira Thomas from Chino Hills to fill in. Must be nice ...

Credo,
Quick question? How long have you been back in D1 or Pac- 5??? oh yeah when you were in haitus in D5 or D6 the orange county leagues playing oceanview and westminster... Amat was representing the Catholic League... two years ago Amat beat Servite by 35 or more... you have a couple good years since the mid 80s and now you are talking... On an honest note how is Shoemate??? He is a great player!!! How is the knee??? How many guys are coming back??? How does the rest of the Trinity looking to shape up??? Serra League looks tough again over here, but you should know how tough it is in the Pac- 5!!! Real Men Wear the Blue & Gold!!! Everyday is a great day to be a Lancer!!! 17 returning starters, WOW!!!!

I am the ORIGINAL Bleed Blue and Gold, accept no substitutions.
CREDO, let's see how well you fare next season without your one man show. by the end of next season you will be known as the Servite FRYERS!
We may be down but we are not out. He who laughs last, laughs best and I BELIEVE as do others that you are STILL a complete ass.
BTW, who desgined your home uniforms? Morticia Addams?

I chose this forum as my battle ground. I choose to kick you when your down. Because it feels GREAT!!!! Your program is breaking down. Your admin is destroying you minute by minute. I'm sure CARROLL scoffs at your petty and trivial whining. I will be here on this blog till your ship is finally under, until your Div 1 status is revoked. Which should be next year at this rate. YOU BOTTOM FEEDER!

thank you so much for your insight and perspective. You really seem to be an expert in the field of football as well as one of the insiders we look forwarding to hearing from. If only we knew your name, we could then recommend you be the next head football coach at Los Altos if Gano leaves. Better yet how about being Northview's fluffer next season? We are sick and tired of you THINKING you know what you are talking about. You DO NOT know what the hell you're talking about so quit bending over and flapping you butt cheeks instead put them to better use; Northview's calling...

Campanario:
No, it wasn't addressed at you... there are others here who seem to be mistaking their bitter opinions for "facts" about supposed rules violations.
Your own understanding of the CIF rules is correct, though I'd add the additional point that coaches aren't allowed to initiate contact with athletes or the families of athletes from other schools as well. Also, attendence boundries are irrelevent if the kid starts at a school as a freshman; so if a school and district have no problem taking someone from outside of the boundries (due to an open enrollment policy, such as HLPUSD has) to begin with, where they live is not an issue (unless they want to change schools later).
In the specific instance of Los Altos, "bona fide moves" have indeed been pretty common. Usually this is due to a: the family living in a month-to-month leased appartment, so moving to another appartment is only a moderate inconvenience, or b: the family owns more than one property and vacates and rents out their regular home to live at the second location (see the Sandello controversy).
Personally, I wouldn't go to that much trouble and upheaval to get -my- kid on a different football team, but I've known enough parents to understand that such behavior is not unusual.
Harship wavers are not automatic, but generally get through (possibly a week or two into the season) if they are in any way reasonable, since CIF does not want to be on the receiving end of an ugly lawsuit.
And it's kind of sad to see the fans of the two most storied teams in the SGV backbiting each others accomplishments anyway. One would think both sides would have earned a mutual respect for each other by now.

GANO'S GANG
You sure missed your calling . you should do stand up. Now why in the hell would AMAT be jealous of some wannabe d-6 or 7 school that doesn't have b-lls to schedule us even when our program is on the downhill slide as has been said in these blogs. As for LA replacing us in the PAC 5 you can forget that ever happening. LA won't play us and you think they can hang in the PAC 5 . Just stay in your little comfort zone and don't worry about us . we will be fine.

Anyone know Bishop Amats schedule besides their league games against ND,Crespi and Loyola?
Posted by: wondering | January 29, 2007 4:04 PM
Gosh Jhykron,
...don't know if you were talking to me, but CIF transfer eligibility rules apply to all member schools, and are quite clear:
If ANY student-athlete changes schools with no change of address, there is paperwork to be filed if said student played in ANY interscholastic contests at the previous school. And if this paperwork does not include a hardship waiver approved by the commissioner, the student will be restricted from varsity competition for one year.
If a student moves from one attendance area to another with his/her legal guardian(s, he/she may participate immediately, with no restriction.
I was just raising an eyebrow at the mention of so many transfers, because bonafide moves don't seem real common, and hardships are far from automatic.
Anyway, if you weren't talking to me, sorry...

Anti:
"do you happen to know the schedule for LA next year along with their respective open dates?"
As far as I know:
Rosemead (2nd year of contract)
Open (Contract with LB Wilson expired)
@ Damien (2nd year of renewed contract)
@ St Francis (2nd year of contract)
@ Western (For some reason they like scheduling LA just before league)
South Hills
@ Diamond Ranch
@ Charter Oak
Wilson
Bonita
"...you really see it as a possibility of Gano leaving LA for the U of LV?
...
What do you think?"
It's pretty much confirmed that Gano is in discussion with them. This shouldn't be too much of a surprise... as good as the LA job is for attracting athletes and running a credible football program, the HLPUSD remains one of the worst districts in the state for pay scale, and their facilities support is just disgraceful (ever take a good look at the LA/Wilson/Workman fields... or pools?).
I would expect that if Gano made the move, Fair would go with him. And Fair's first choice for a DL coach would be Howing. I'm less certain where the other position coaches would end up.
Posted by: Jhykron | January 29, 2007 3:09 PM
Jhykron,
do you happen to know the schedule for LA next year along with their respective open dates?
and its obvious your always in the know with regard to the happenings at LA, so with that said, do you really see it as a possibility of Gano leaving LA for the U of LV?
I can slightly see it happening, but only if Fair (The D coordinator) goes with him.
What do you think?
Posted by: anti17 | January 29, 2007 11:48 AM
Some of the people on this blog really need to educate themselves about the CIF transfer rules AND the difference between open and closed-enrollment school districts before making bold statements about what is and isn't legal.
Posted by: Jhykron | January 29, 2007 11:45 AM
I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but LA most emphatically does NOT have an open week 1 at this time. Week 2, maybe, but not week 1.
Posted by: Jhykron | January 29, 2007 11:41 AM
Clash of the Titans- Los Altos vs. Bishop Amat.
This needs to happen. Three year agreement. Year one @Mt.Sac or Citrus. Year two and three at the respective schools. I say make it an annual tradition.
Would the SGV News Group or Tribune sponsor this game?
This game would be huge for this Valley. I would cerntainly guarantee a packed house at Hilmer Lodge(Mt.Sac)
FYI~
try going to the LA campus, most of the Asains are at Wilson. As racist as that sounds, it does however withhold some truth. Look at what happened to Temple City, and Diamond Bar.
Posted by: Jeremy | January 29, 2007 11:34 AM
you guys are so funny..yeah BA is not the BA of the early 90's. but the fact of the matter is only one public school in the area has attempted to play them in the last 10 years and that was CO who by the way got socked in the mouth two years in a row by a vary bad BA team...so yeah BA might be down and not the same....none-the-less there is still no valley team that beats them...go ahead and mouth off, tell me how your team would beat them...after you run your mouth, go ask your head coach to be honest why he does not put BA on the schedule. All this is written by a person who could care less about BA..but i am a realist...
Posted by: living legend | January 29, 2007 11:33 AM
Ok, Ok...yes LA has some recruits and does so every year, but to say that they are the only team in the miramonte leage that pulls kids from outside their area is ridiculous. Everyone knows that Charter oak does the exact same thing, they funnel kids right up that 10 freeway. And ur going to tell me that diamond ranch does not have kids in their program that should be attending Garey, Pomona or even Diamond bar...c'mon, be real.
Secondly, great to hear the potential of the young QB over at Northview. And i know it cant be a coincidence that he is being tutored under Ex LA offensive assistant/ QB coach Mike Urreta, who is now over at Northview. He did great things with the QB's over at LA during his time there, both physically and mentally. Kids really admired him and loved to play for him. With that rough 4 game stretch that castaneda had this year, i know he could have helped this year.

John, know your facts...Longoria is a West Covina Resident...he has no business playing in the HLPSD. This is fact I live around the corner from him...know his Dad Henry and his Brother Dimitry and his Mom Chella.......Nick is a great kid and his family are good people. He must have had someone there from HH give their address for him. He grew up playing Pony Baseball over at Walmerado in West Covina...Now if Nick were playing at WC or even SH exception they are in West Covina but his district school is Nogales....Now Walnut on the other hand offers a Lottery system to WC residents that are on the border. It is illegal as it comes having big nick play there but hey someone bent the rules for him...and thats ok it happens all the time and Nick is stand up guy and good student. But rules are rules and this is where LA goes overboard in recruitment....with all this going back and fourth on the Blog it would not suprise me if CIF was notified of LA recruitment of out of district players..McBride at least moved into the district to play for LA......Cheaters never win!....playoffs for LA but a early exit due to the OC having your number.....
Posted by: Big Bubba | January 29, 2007 9:46 AM
Ok, here is the scoop on Wagner. He was at the Nike Combine on Saturday sporting BA football gear and according to the personel that worked the combine, his card said that he was attending Amat and when asked whether he was going to leave BA for LA his answer was "No."
So there you have it...McBride to LA...Wagner stays at BA.
Posted by: Bracketology | January 29, 2007 9:21 AM
For the idiot who commented on Longoria. Know your facts. He lives in the school district and weather he lives in the LA quadrant means nothing because HLPUSD has a choice school option and as long as there is room available a student can attend the school of choice. This may be changing but he was attending school in the LA quadrant when it started. This is a quality football player and a great kid.
As for this LA over AMAT stuff, pressure your Athletic Directors to make this happen. It would be great for the valley to see this.
I do know that last year LA went down hill after playing some tough opponents in a row. They can compete but they physically get beat up. My observation was that they need to add players to the squad so your studs do not have to play every down. It took a couple weeks to get healthy but they did at the right time.
Amat can still beat any team in the valley even in a down year and with a coach that had his share of problems.
Amat still playes the top teams in the state and they duck no one. It may have been a down year and we still beat some very good teams. Loyola, Rancho Cucamonga( who beat South Hills and West Covina), St Paul, Chaminade(who lost in semi's to Domingues, CIF Champions) and St. Francis(who beat LA).
And to say Amat is down in their sports is crazy.
2005 Girls Basketball CIF/State Champions
2006 Girls Basketball CIF/State Champions
2000 and 2001 Baseball national champions
I hear that this years baseball team has the makings of something great.
Football will make it's way back as well and life at Amat will go on. The one change that needs to be made is we need to keep our coaches.
Lets look at success.
Markham wins and moves on
Parades wins and moves on
Salter wins and moves on
Amat needs to sweeten the payroll that they give these coaches. I would hate to loose Wiard and see that beautiful gym sit there empty again. This gym is a showcase in the SGV and it is a calling card to future athletes, use it.
The one person standing in the way of Amat becoming great is Msgr. Carroll. A change needs to be made to change the culture at Amat and it starts with replacing Msgr. Carroll!!!!!!!!!!!
LA at AMAT or AMAT at LA, make it a three year contract and flip a coin to see who has the first home game. It will be great for the valley and Aram, use your powers to help this matchup happen.
OH yeah, McBride looked good in LA gear at the basketball game.
Go LA,
Go Amat,
Let the kids play and quite the racism, that has got to go. Big Bubba seems to have some built up hatred towards the LA student body but it is quite the same as Amats student body make up.
MAKE THIS GAME HAPPEN
MSGR CARROLL MUST GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How pathetic has Bishop Amat become? Listen to the bloggers classless remarks and racial innuendos. There was a time when Bishop Amat had pride, tradition and class. Those days are gone. From the first days of this blog Bishop Amat bloggers have expressed themselves poorly. They brag, they put down , they ridicle and harass their Principal, their head Coach and his staff...and when players decide they've had enough the Amat bloggers minimize the players role/contribution to the Bishop Amat team. Now that's classless!
I understand the "king's" desire to hold on to the "crown" but Bishop Amat is a shell of it's former self. And instead of complaining and bragging about the present and past how about keeping your mouths shut and take in some humble pie...NO ONE HATES BISHOP AMAT...THEY PITY THE PROUD ALUMNI THAT BUILT A PROGRAM ONLY TO SEE IT TORN DOWN BY COMPLAINERS AND WANTABEES!
Blu, MT%&^%^&^BAG, Joe Amat and others..if you're not part of the solution...you're part of the problem.
Best way to rebuild what Bishop Amat has lost is to close the practices from the parents and make Chalk Talk mandatory for players and parents. The eyes "see" what they want to see but "FILM DON'T LIE" Bishop Amat players quit in every game I saw...the only question was when and for how long. Verti close practices!
Anyone know how many transfers have left Bishop Amat in the last 3 years? Maybe someone can make a list...I'd love to know.

This is absolutely hilarious. a bunch of people whining about ONE tranfer. i admit i was talking earlier, but this has just gone to hell in a handbasket. Yes i wish AMAT and LosAl schedule each other next year, but if they don't good luck to both teams.
To all AMAT supporters,
Always fight on for the Blue and Gold...NEVER FAULTER!!
To all AMAT haters,
Hate us all you want, as we've been saying since last summer, it doesn't matter if we were ranking number 100 in Division 1, we could still beat any school in the valley on any given friday...
so thats it, no more talking about McBride, he's gone. and YES, Wagner is still at AMAT, i saw him there when i dropped off my little sister...

I have been gone the entire day and this is the world I am about revisit? My fellow Conquerors do you realize Bishop Amat is our Valley's parochial school and is attempting to defend themselves against us. Let's stop and think about this because when their headline reads transfers because they haven't done anything on or off the field in years and we are to blame better yet they feel they have something they would prove by beating us. Yes, I hope you will agree with me this is a compliment and exactly why they continue to fail. Bishop Amat is pathetic and has lost their mystique forever. You cannot even contend with other parochial schools let alone the top public schools in Pac 5. Are you conceding that you probably need to reconsider and compete in our division? Is beating us really what is going to revitalize your program? Thank you for the free publicity and continue to audition your athletes for us. How about better yet we just switch leagues and we represent the Valley as the Pac 5 school and you spend your future trying to rebuild a program that YOU demolished. Seriously, let's be honest probably if we played each other and we beat you unfortunately no one would be as surprised as you think. Wow, that's SAD but the truth!

LA will find excuses after it gets beat...lets see we did not have this guy or we did not have that guy...if this guy was not hurt....the ref screwed us....we lost but we kept the game close in the first quarter...Longoria , McBride, and all the other recruits had to go to their area schools because we got caught by CIF but if we had them we would have beaten Amat. Lets see how much Ballz coach Gano has to get this game done...then when he goes limping into the rest of his games after his team is banged up then he will have the coin toss and get in and say they have returen to glory.....CO SH DR DAMIEN WILL PUNK LA THIS YEAR!...and you want to play BA..give me a break those little guys you have over there cannot hang with real D1 football players...bring it on!

A game between LA and BA. Won't happen until 2010.
The earliest probably 2009. With three major spots to fill and kids needing to gel. I don't see it happening till then. And when it does BA is going to get beat bad. It's coming better be ready.

BA Loser,
I like your spirit.
"We will have to get back to you once your transfers arrive on our campus and ask them if you are even worth playing anymore and is there anybody left with any kind of talent."
BUT let's show everyone who the supreme class of the Valley is. It's time to show the Valley. We have the records. Obviously we have the players, look at the lists who have graduated from Los Al. Week one Amat what do you say. Call your AD and make it happen. we will do our share on our part. Aram be the Media liasion and push this through. As much as I hate it, I'm tired of people around me who are associated with other schools that we could never beat Amat . This is the YEAR.

I attended the Nike Combine in Long Beach and SGV was well represented. Saw kids from several schools like Diamond Ranch, Ayala, B.Amat, and Los Altos. Los Altos had some fast kids and B.Amat had several "BIG" boys who looked very mobile. If there is a game, I'll be there!!

Bishop Amat 3-0 against LA.........no wonder why you guys are ducking us and the truth.......until you can beat us..but wait you are afraid to play us.........until Gano grows some sacks and can manup we welcome smacking you guys around.

Aram -
Help me.
I see/hear all these transfers happening...
and I'm sure some bloggers are savvy enough to know the strictness of CIF's rules about transfers without a change of address (varsity restriction).
Are these all "bonified moves with legal guardian", or are Hardship waivers easier to come by than I thought?
Ever asked any coaches these questions?

bluorca,
We will have to get back to you once your transfers arrive on our campus and ask them if you are even worth playing anymore and is there anybody left with any kind of talent. In the meanwhile, I recommend if you are still searching for some preseason opponents the Montview and Valle Vista leagues need some preseason games. Azusa, Gladstone, Sierra Vista, Northview, San Dimas have games available. An easier schedule makes you maybe 6-4 or 5-5 and you can then get the at-large bid in the playoffs. Better yet, how about when we win C.I.F. we also recognize you and thank you for your failures and shortcomings. We are willing to give credit where credit is due. I love being me and would hate to be you. Mediocrity is unacceptable but unfortunately is your middle name. Peace be with you!

All this talk about being able to kick Amat's butt, etc, etc. I gotta question for you and anyone else willing to do the research.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME LOS ALTOS ACTUALLY SCHEDULED A TOP FOOTBALL FARM IN THE PRESEASON FROM DIV 1 OR 2 OR THE PAC-5?

Anybody hear about the Nike Combine at Veteren's? I heard a lot of Amat players went down there. Anybody have anything on it? How true are the rumors about a AMAT Vs. Los Altos game? Real Men Wear the Blue & Gold! Everday is a great day to be a LANCER! 17 starters returning, WOW!!!!
Posted by: amatclavary | January 28, 2007 10:04 AM
How's 14-0 in 2000, 12-2 in 2002 and 14-0 in 2003 not glory?
I'm not a fan of either school, but I respect what both have accomplished. LA's 11 CIF titles is unmatched by anyone in the valley and only bested in CIF by Long Beach Poly. And Amat's run in 1990s is also something to hang your hat on. But Amat has had good coaching since Tom Salter left.
Personaly, I don't care if kids transfer from one school to another. It's just not important enough to get all upset over. If it happens, so be it. This is just high school fooball.
There are greater tragedies in the world - like the war.

imagine if there was a traditional top private vs. public preseason showdown every year facing the two top teams from their respective schools. probably we would play more games then anyone. bottom line we not only smack you this year but bitch slap you enough times to lead the series right now. i would have to say in the last 10 years we would absolutely be more competitive in your league and conference than you the great lancers. you boys are weak we play like men and St. Los Altos is the strongest program in the valley end of story. thanks for supporting us though and keep buying tickets to watch us go deep into the playoffs...

Week 1 would be great. Come on over to the Keifer and play before a real crowd LA. your support of parents and fans is very LOUSY. Coming out of the gates after your loss to LA your fans are the worst bad mouthing everything from your coaching decisions to the refs to the cheerleaders..........man get a grip .........half the kids on EL Dorado were sick ith the flu and still punked you....you talk about class?...f-bombd were coming from everywhere..even in the mens room and in the snack line during halftime.........poor sports now in recruitment violation.....you guys are a mess....play the pac5 or the trinity as your 5 game non league and then tell me how good that team is...Dranch had the stones to do it..went 0-5 in non league then came out and punked you guys....stop living in your 70 and 80's glory days....the time has come to step up and play with the big boys...we welcome the game with our lancers.....I can see the fights in the parking lot after you low lifes lose.

Of course he's talking about EACH of the previous three years being 85 players, you dimwitted turd.
Go back to your Burgie beer, and have a nice night.
Posted by: Amat Blows | January 28, 2007 1:30 AM
3 years and only 85 freshmen? HAHA!
You obviously either made a gross error or you have absolutely no idea what in the world goes on in Lancer Land. Take your number and multiply it by 3 and you will have the number of Amat freshman that join its ranks over the same time. Heck, 85 freshman is a typical for ONE year at Amat. Amat Varsity usually fields around 70-90 players in a typical year.
Now stop being so silly and remember that Amat is THE San Gabriel Valley football farm. We call them farms for a reason son...
And another thing and for your info so you don't look like such a fool, Amat did not get "bumped early in playoffs." WE did not make the playoffs.

hey aram mcbride leaving was pretty bad for bishop but the real talk should be on the future of the valleys better prospects.Ive watch much football for many years and ive never seen players like this before. theres three sophmores that played amazing this year and the two best out of the 3 did not get no publicity. RB Nico Barbone from San Dimas, QB Oscar Robles from Northview, and Chris allen from charter oak.Allen had gotten much publicity because his team had made the playoffs.but he had good players around him. But Barbone and Robles are in their own league. they had no players around them but they still managed to shine.Northviews QB Oscar Robles is amazing ive never seen a QB at that age do the kind of the things he did. He had great footwork and a rocket for an arm( when his line gave him time) and had great precision in the pocket and accurcy. he reminds me alot of drew brees because hes only about 5"10 or 5"11 but is amazing.all he needs is a good big strong receiver to give him some yac because .all i got to say is how in heck did this guy endup at northview, he should have been at a bishop or damien. coach be thankfull that u landed a guy like this. this is a once in a lifetime chance to have this kid and u better utilize him to the best of his abliteies.but RB nico barbone is a beast. Just like robles he has no complment players around him. but i know coach Z will take care f that. Barbone is just an old fashion type of runner who runs people over and has a good amount of speed. his technique is perfect the way he reads the holes and switches the ball from hand to hand depending on what side of the field he is on. I was at the pomona game where i think he almost put up 300 yards of total. he reminds me alot of a fast Mike alstot beacuse of the way he runs offense. at his senior season he will be the best RB in the valley maybe even SC. And Chris allen have to give him props for leading his team to CIF but still really has not proved himself that much. Hey aram i have the perfect title for this summers prep football preview. A picture of allen barbone and robles withe the title the amzing trio.
To sum every thing up ill say the order of the amazinf trio in order
1.) RB Nico barbone wins sgv tribune player of the year next yearand the new beast from the east and maybe the best RB in SC his senior season.
2.) QB Oscar Robles best QB i ever seen could compete for # 1 spot best qb in the valley next year or the year after for sure Division one prospect
3.)QB chris allen amazing sophmore year stilla lot to prove but will always live in the shadow of Oscar Robles

Bluorca,
Alot of trash being talked by you its O.K. though LA will take your oh not all that players and LA will probably take the title next year its just too bad people like you don't encourage these kids to strive for something far better than what BA and there coaches had to offer. (losing season) bumped early in playoffs Oh Yeah one more thing and not so many parents that act like bitches (refering to the men). So take your talk and your stupidity and start praying for your precious lancers cause everybody knows when your politics supersede the talent your willing not to utilize. There are schools like LA that kids are dying to play for. Last 3 years over 85 freshman show up for summer camp and alot of others begging to play for this coaching staff.
So your accusations of recruiting or let me say stupidity that only people like you come up with are false. Everybody wants to be a winner thats why kids seek to play at Los Altos and leave alot less successful schools such as yours.

I have the solution to the LA and BA Debate.
1. Fire Verti
2. Find out how much ULV pays for a head coach.
3. Match the salary.
4. Hire Gano. (He has said he would leave to coach at La Verne.) (Remember money talks and Gano has Ears.)
5. Now BA has a proven coach and recruiter. Make sure Gano can bring Howland along.
This would solve the little problems in a quick way.

Conq. insider is it true about Amat & Los Altos in week 1? I hope it is, with all this controversy going on with these schools this game would be huge for this area, also this blog will explode over the summer as this game gets closer, the only bad thing is it will take me hours to read thru this blog & my wife was already running out of patience this past season for the time I spent on this blog, Oh well, thats football season for you.

ACK ARAM!
You make me type when my eyes are swollen! HaHa! OK...one more and then I'm gone.
Your are right man, both Gaisie and McBride are small backs and it was wrong of me to point out McBride's size. But it was Gaisie that established himself as Amat's main offensive weapon. Even as a healthy junior, Gaisie was impressive in establishing himself as the center of the offense. When he went down this year, McBride had more than enough opportunities to shine. And he did play well and he will be better next year. But it was not McBride that became the center of the offense...it was Dorian Wells that took over the spotlight. I personally would like to see Wells in the backfield and I have heard some semi reliable rumors that this might be the case.
If Wells is indeed being moved into the backfield, I too would have transferred to Los Altos if I had to compete againts him for the RB spot. Wells is the real deal. Hopefully he will remain a faithful Lancer.

Amat has a great tradition but Haden and McKay don't play there anymore and last time I checked Minor, McCutcheon, sermons and McDonald were out of eligibility. The last time Mater Dei played here the stands were not full. Over the course of the last 5-7 years there has not been a stronger program than Los Altos. Charter Oak and South Hills are right there and West Covina is closing the gap. None of these schools have been cited by the CIF for recruiting violations. Open enrollment has leveled the playing field with the private schools. Gano, Bogan and even someone of questionable character like Farrar don't write the rules....they just play the game. I don't ever recall them publicly laying the blame for a loss on others...refs, etc.
Amat just has to get better by quit complaining and work harder.

My Bran-Scan On Los Altos and Recruiting
ALL the top public school teams (Most in the Pac-5) such as Esperanza, Edison, Long Beach Poly, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, etc. recruit players from all over. They use legal and sometimes illegal means to do this as well. This is no secret and its been done for many years now. The reason why these schools do this is because they compete in league/divisions that do the exact same thing. And to remain competitive (ESPECIALLY PLAYING AGAINTS THE PAROCHIALS) recruiting on all levels in a necessity if you want to have any success in these leagues/division.
Los Altos does indeed practice some recruiting tactics and it does not take a guru to explain this to anyone. But my question is....why?
I would understand more if Los Altos actually competed in a powerful league or scheduled more than two known Farms in their preseason. But this is not the case and I do not remember the last time Los Altos has scheduled anyone of Div 1-2 in the preseason. I asked this question before and no one was able to give me a good response. Someone had mentioned Orange Lutheran but that was the playoffs...Lutheran was not actually scheduled by Los Altos.
This will piss a lot of people off but the truth is that the Southwest Division is extremely weak in comparison to the Inland or the Pac-5. It is unnecessary for any team in the Southwest to recruit in order to remain competitive. So basically, Los Altos is recruiting to remain competitve in the SGV and a weak division. And this is wrong because the other schools in the Miramonte do not do this. And as far as the playoff teams are concerned, there are NO farms in the Southwest Division.
In conclusion, I dont think there is anything wrong with a public school recruiting as long as there is a good reason why they do it. Los Altos has no good reason. And I'm not saying this because I'm bitter. NO ONE from Bishop Amat or any other Parochial should ever point the finger at a public school. This is not our place even though it's Amat that is losing a few players. That's life at a parochial...you gain good players and sometimes you lose good players.
It's the rest of the Miramonte that should be pissed and should speak up. But judging by the number of people that actually show up to Miramonte games, I dont think too many people care. Los Altos is the most sucessful football program as far as number of championships and you would think with all their talk of tradition and history that more people would actually show up at their games. But the fact is that you can show up to a Los Altos game at 8:30pm that started at 7:00 pm and still get GREAT seats!
Tradition and history dont mean squat if you are recruiting and refusing to play anyone of value. They also dont mean squat if you have problems filling up your home stands on a friday night.
That's enough for now...
Posted by: bluorca | January 27, 2007 3:25 PM
Well guess what? on the Bishop Amat campus and at school Friday was Marcus Wagner....Sounds like a change of heart happened unless he was doing the final clean out of his locker...sources say he was attending school. Lancers vs cantconquershit game the first week is welcome over at BA....why Mt Sac.? If your team is that great play at Amat....sounds like fear to me already...Ask WC what it is like to play a D1 Mater Dei.....LA you know you would get mopped up and then run your excuses of Referees and coaching bad decisions etc....then after that will run around the SGV claming you played Bishop Amat a D1 program and lost but grew some sacks....
Posted by: LA LOSERS | January 27, 2007 3:02 PM
I find it hard to believe that Amat RB would be invited to a National ALL-STAR game after playing in only 3 games in the season. No one is STUPID enough to believe that. Well maybe the ONE person spreading that rumor but that's it. He's stupid but no one else. Everyone has seen the prospects. Look at the rosters. Amat RB not in same class. How do people believe this crap?

BREAKING NEWS!!!
Amat and Los Al have week one open and their are preliminary talks that a game may be played. Now all the B**ching and complaining can end. It will be settled on the field. We will finish the job that CO could never get done. West Co wont be the only school to play the PAC-5.
Aram,
Can you validate this statement and call the ADs and head coaches so this crap can end. The biggest game in the Valley and we'll dominate for years to come. The players want it. The parents want it. And the schools want it. MT. Sac would be the perfect place.

Bishop Brothers you drove me to finally have to spew some venom of the truth. Everything that needs to be said goes something like this "To the victor go the spoils!" Success breeds success and our tradition is second to none. Bishop Amat in the past and present would get beat by us simply because we have always had better coaches one and two our athletes have always been the best TEAM on the field. What are we suppose to say "no" to every kid that wants to transfer into our school? Logic and reason tell you playing for a mediocre team vs. playing for a C.I.F. Championship are a no brainer. So what if we are an all-star team of transfers because bottom line we still have to win on the field and we have never gotten in trouble yet for bending the rules. End of story that's the difference is we bend the rules but have never broken the rules and if you are stupid enough to accuse us of worse then "IF YOU'RE NOT CHEATING YOU'RE NOT TRYING!" There is nothing you can do about it so get over it. HaHa we win and you lose NahNaNahNaNahNa... YOU'RE JUST J
