Glendora guard Dominic Tiger-Cortes OUT 4-6 weeks ...

... that's the rest of the regular season to you and me, pal. What a blow. What a tragic season it's been for Tiger-Cortes - great kid, helluva basketball player - his mom passed away right before the season and now this.

Tiger-Cortes broke his toe in a loss to Gahr on December 30. Glendora's next game is against Diamond Bar on January 10. It's the Sierra League opener for both teams. By the way, every team in the Sierra enters league with a winning record.

Griffin ..shoots...HE SCORES!!!!!

Game Over! Damien wins!!!

Who said Damien would dominate the league? lol

Well GTO...Glendora's in for a long season. That's the beauty of this blog...calling it before it happens....instead of pompoming it or making excuses.

Let's see my "cyrstal ball" tells me that Damien's run is just getting started. Time will tell. Best to akll the players and everyone stay healthy!

GTO, Like I said before Damien SHOULD/WOULD go undefeated....but alas the basketball god's thought a little humble pie was in order. Against Chino Hills the game was in the bag but two offensive rebounds off missed free throws in the last minutes of the game proved Damien's undoing. Maybe Damien needed that game to wake them up, that and Riley playing to the crowd (Shhhhhhing the crowd as he made free throws)really showed Damien isn't ready. But tonight against Ayala will be a big test and Griffin will come up big. If Riley learns to play the game and not the crowd he'll sign a letter of intent at the end of the season. Best of luck to both Riley and Griffin. Tonight they shine for 20 apiece.

Glendora...you're still on schedule. Good luck to Tiger and the gang.

BOOYAH!!!!!!!!....DB notches league win #2 against Ayala last night! They started of slow (again). Came out strong during the 2nd and 3rd qrts (again) DB was up by 17 at one point (when things started getting physical and heated), gave up a 13-2 run by Ayala, but withstood the storm, and snuffed the Bulldogs out in the end by a good 10 or so.. They play great defense, they rebound well, they have slick guard play, hit big 3's when they need 'em, and luv pushing that fast break EVERY chance they get!

WHO WANTS NEXT???????????????

Hey Griffin Fan!!!

Sorry, I'm a little late for breakfast, but give me your address and I'll send over that document with your words written on it and you can eat them for dinner!

"Damien will...go undefeated" HAHAHAHAHA!!

FIRST game and their league winning streak ends at....uh...0! That was hilarious!! Just like I said, it's going to be a 5 team dog fight and our Tartans need to bounce back and beat Chino Hills tomorrow night. Good to see Tiger back early, even if it's limited.

Thank you lap dance lover, "I was just funnin'" as they say down in "Tombstone". I had never been to GHS before, since they play home football games like nomads at an away site. Their gym had alotta mens hoops banners hanging up there, they are big time ballers....which made last nights league opening road win all the more sweeter. Way to go Brahmas, keep up that fight!

No word from any of my inside sources on who the new coach might be....the only thing for sure is that Cowher hasnt called back.....I know your all on pins and needles out there awaiting the big word.....just hang tight all you haters out there, and why dont you take another brahma basketball elbow to the head while your waiting!

Randy that Mike the Clone comment was hilarious!

Even Mikey will be impressed!

Sounds like your DB team is better than your football team. Congrats! New coaches right? Any updates on Cuccia's replacement?

That was a damn good DBHS-GHS basketball game. The Brahmas were down by 10 early, down by 3 at the half....but came out strong in the 3rd and played well until late in the 4th when they got tight and GHS hit every shot! The purple and gold were up by 7 with 2 min to play in regulation when things got quiet for them. Glendoras go-to guys hit some BIG shots to tie it at 61 sending it to OT. DB picked it up though, with some strong rebounds, nice put backs, and managed to seal up the "W" on the road!

Finally got to meet Aram, that was cool. He remembers everything, I was impressed. I was hoping I'd get a chance hear Mike the Clone's (or clown) spin on the game....but he wasn't sitting in Aram's lap like i thought he would be :)

GOODNIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody know who won the girls game between Diamond bar and Glendora??

Damien lost tonight by 5. League play is already shaping up to be interesting.

Hey Aram, any chance of getting a scoreboard thingy like football? I'd love to know what happened in the other Sierra League games. Think I saw you at the Glend./DB game. Wow, pretty exciting game. Tuff finish for the Tartans, but great comeback to send it to overtime. Nice to see that Dominic is almost back to full strength. I heard he was shooting around in practice this week and it sounded like it wasn't as serious as first thought. A win would have been huge, but with Dom still not 100% and Gordien in early foul trouble, it could have been worse I guess. Diamond Bar is no pushover and they had their guy, Black I think, playing again. It's gonna be a dog fight in the Sierra this year.

Yeah Griffin you tell them whats up and whats gonna happen.

GTO , not only will Damien go undefeated but they will beat Glendora by 20 at home and by 15 at LeDuc's place. The tide has turned and Damien is going to be the next basketball power in the Sierra League.

Griffin he will make it rain! Riley will "block" out the sun!. Mark it down.

Hey Griffin Fan,

I AM writing it down...on a nice tasty piece of paper for you so it don't taste so bad. My guess is that you'll be having those words for lunch by the end of the first round of league. You may even have them tomorrow for breakfast!

Damien will win league and go undefeated. Mark it down. Dunn finally decided to let the team play uptempo rather than that choke the life out of every player offense he ran for 3 years.

Damien has 3 ALL CIF and All Area players on this team (Riley, Rahmme, Napolitano) 2 ALL League first teamers in Hatcher and Mc Clendon. After that it's slim pickings but the starting 5 are good enough to run the table. Maybe that beating Dunn took at Ramona last year opened his eyes to the value of opening up and using your athletes and "their" strenghts to win games instead of micro managing games.

Mark it down.

I see Damien getting to the semis.

I'm from that private school that you're talking about and it wouldn't suprise me one bit to see Glendora finish 1st or 2nd in league without Cortes. I've seen too many "no name" Glendora teams win league over the years to ever count them out. I really hope Cortes comes back in time to see some league action. It's just more fun when everyone's at full strength.

What would suprise me is if any of these teams ran through league undefeated. As you pointed out, there are 4-5 teams that have a legitimate shot at the league title this year. Good luck to you guys on Wednesday.

Getting excited for Wed. night and the kick off to league play. This should be a very exciting year as there are 5 teams that could all compete for the Sierra league title. My Tartans caught a bad break (no pun, and wishing a swift recovery to Mr. Cortes) losing Dominic, but there is still a lot of talent there amongst the "role players" who can, and will now need to score. Use the offense guys to get you your shots and hit the open man; you'll do fine. May even surprise a lot of folks (not me, but some people at some private school around here). Diamond Bar is a great first test. 2 teams without a lot of varsity league experience coming in (for Glendora now w/o Tiger) but programs with good talent top to bottom. Let's GO!

Just to clear things up Dom is out for at least a month. I heard this from the team it self. good luck boys

I don't think it matters- Glendora basketball and basketball in the entire SGV sucks. There are only two good teams in the valley- Pasadena and La Canada- and this paper doesn't cover them.

Jonathan Black will suite up for game vs Glendora wednsday night.

Mine was second hand info. I heard he broke his foot or something. We'll know more this week with the DB/Glendora tilt upcoming.

He played last Wednesday in their win against Vista Murrieta. Coach left him in for only a few minutes at a time, but it looks like he will be ready for league.

Black is injured, probably done for the year.

what happened to DBHS guard Jonathan Black. I have not seen his name in the box scores for a long time. Did he sustain a season ending injury or did he quit the team. I have not seen them play this year and hope to attend a game soon.

Anyone who takes pleasure in the injury to Tiger-Cortes is not a true fan. I expect better judgment from Damien folks.

Wouldn't it be better to beat Glendora at full strength? Damien has a realistic chance to do that this season regardless of injury.

But...

Curtis Brothers is legit. As a 7th grader he led my club team to a very successful year. He, current Glendora JV player Kosmond Russell and my son in my 3 guard/2 forward offense in the backcourt did major damage to teams that were much bigger. But when it all went bad, my instructions were to "Give the ball to Curtis and get out of the way!"

He isn't tall, but he is fast, aggressive and can shoot from anywhere. He can rebound, pass and runs the break as well as anyone.

He was fun to coach. I'll have fun watching him as well.

really too bad about Tiger-Cortes. any kid who loses his mother must be a tough deal. my prayers are with his family. too bad some Damien cowards thought it was cool to mock the Glendora family's grief with chest thumping about a meaningless banner when "our prayers are with you Tiger" would have been appropriate. maybe Damien is feeling a little light in the head with their recent good fortune and good press but that was in poor taste. considering Damien celebrated like they won the NCAA tournament last year when they finally beat Glendora for the first time in recent memory. then Damien was schooled again in the final game at Glendora.

Damien...glad to see you're handlng success like an amatuer. act like you've been there before.

Even though they lost Tiger, I would not underestimate Glendora.

Can you say BYE BYE League? I can and im saying it,that sucks for Dominic he's a real nice kid but i think u better get ready to start hanging the 2006 banner up in the Travers-Cronin athletic center. You are done you can't beat us, ayala or Diamond bar. Watch diamond bar spank you this week! Look out for 1/24 when damien kills you chumps in your house. Seasons over boys dont come back next year. YOU ARE DONE,party is over boys go cry your eyes out. By june you wil have been owned in football n hoops. haha

the league is not wide open...

1/24...

Heal quickly Tiger. In the mean time, you other guys can step up your game and show us what you've got. Come on Ivancich, Beckwith, Brothers, Adema. You guys have scored well in the lower levels, now turn it up a notch and get it done. We're behind you. This league is wide open and it's still yours for the taking.

I heard about that and i was crushed i just hope we can stay afloat long enough and make it to playoffs

That is horrible news....Tiger-Cortes is one fo the best players in the AREA....Now is the time for Curtis Brothers to step up...Brothers has a great future as just a sophomore and I think he can come in and immmediately make an impact for the team....Crushing news for the number 1 ranked team....Gordien is gonna have to play unbelievable...
