Huskies wrestled away SAL supremacy from WestCo

Win, no matter what, even if it means pinning a girl.
John "Nuttin Honey" Honell reports it was an amazing environment last night in the "House that Donnie Built" aka West Covina High's gym. South Hills finally beat West Covina in a very, very close match. Funny thing about the SGV, everytime I turn around there's another kid ranked No. 1 in the state in his/her weight class. Awesome!

Coach MATMTWTBAG: So who left & who tranferred in ?
Posted by: amatdad | January 24, 2007 7:27 PM
Juniors that are transferring out now will play next year as seniors in Football.....some parents pick the Ten game schedule for bragging rights, to have their kid play on a winner but I would take BA academics and dicipline as well as win or lose on the football field over transfering over to a lower level of play at Los Altos. Wearing that Golden A on your helmet is pride win or lose.

So if they want to showcase their talents somewhere else, they should have transferred last year. Now they are not elgible. Great Parenting! Football over academics and disciplined atmosphere.

SH, boy u show'd us did'nt u ! ya ur the best in the valley ! ya right ! ur going to win cif & state ! sure ! Amat has improved tremendously since the dual early in the season. No one was saying we were better than anyone ! Simply giving props to our team ! Amats wrestling team gets no recognition at our school due to Football, Baseball & Girls Basketball. I also mentioned how young our team was & future looks bright, but thanks for the bulletin board Material. Hopefully ur only a junior & we'll see ya in the future champ !!!

Attended the school, was a former player and my whole take was not to be the first to broadcast the news but was simply saying that tranfers were going to happen because you are right they happen all the time but the concern is why is it happening?.......some players/parents are not sure on the upcoming season with Verti and want to showcase their talents elsewhere where they can get in a playoff round.

MATMTWTBAG,
Are you a former player? Did you attend the school? Are you looking for attention? Do you aspire to be the one guy who breaks the news? Players transfer all the time. Do your research. We will get through this. If you want to be a part of the "WE", then kill the negative talk.

Well lets just see tomorrow when the kids are back at school to start the new semester. Who has transfered out.? Also what, if any, players have transfered into Amat. LA SH CO getting any disgruntled players/parents from Amat for next years football season?

Posted by: SH | January 21, 2007 5:56 PM
MATMTWTBAG, why would you "continue" a rumor (by your own admission THAT'S ALL IT IS!!!)
Creatine "rumors" my god what's in the water at Amat!
No wonder kids leave that school.
Posted by: You should know better! | January 20, 2007 11:58 PM
Alot of highschool athletes take creatine. It's legal, I see nothing wrong with that...

I was at the Nogales Tourney.........shame that Hernandez and Silva had to be one and two....both are number one wrestlers too bad one had to take second........Silva will be a monster this football season...hope he starts to learn how to catch the football with two hands. He has the one hand grab, bad habit....as for A. Hernandez he is getting increbibly stronger and their is some sort of rumor as to him taking Creatine....lets hope not.....is there any truth that Brice Mcbride may be leaving Amat to attend LA?....geeze thats all we need....

Respectthegame: You forgot to mention AMAT ! Amat also hs some talent in wrestling, not just in Football/Baseball/Girls Basketball. This yrs team finished 7th in Vegas & has won & placed in top 5 of every trny this yr except for 5 counties ! If it was'nt for Nview, Amat wld have won cif the last 2 yrs. Amat's coaching staff includes Camilo Gonzales (JC State Champ), David Rodriguez (CIF Champ), & David Garcia ( Cal State Bakersfield ). This yrs team is very young & led by a Great group of Juniors & sophomores. Hey Blue Orca & MATMTWTBG, how bout coming out & supporting ur wrestling team ! There r a few fballers & former fballers on the team.

It's nice to see you covering some wrestling news. How about Northview's dominance at the Lemoore Bash? or the locals at 5 Counties? How are the other local schools doing? Charter Oak? Azusa? Workman? Bonita? San Dimas? Glendora? It seems there is not much room in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune for wrestling even though the valley is one of the hotbeds for wrestling in California.
How about an article about Former state champ Chris Lopez coaching the Grapplers youth program? or former CIF Champ Ricky Sotela as Army recruiter at his alma mater Azusa High? Or 2X NCAA qualifier Lionel Sanchez and what he is up to? Or former Bishop Amat wrestler David Vasquez coaching his Texas team to a top ten finish in Texas while serving in the Air Force?
