I'm gonna be sick ...

Dude was all set to go Ian Johnson on his chick, then the Buckeyes stiffed.
... my Buckeyes are getting throttled. My phone won't stop ringing ... you people are all bugging. The Buckeyes are disappearing into obscurity before my very eyes. Like 1 or 2 signees on the Hot 100. Next year's Big Ten is already set with 1. Michigan (national title game), 2. Wisconsin (Rose Bowl) and 3. Ohio State (Outback!).

Ohio St is OVERRATED in all of these

Only pipes necessary are from a church organ.
Hey Colt my point was he should have given more than a written statement. He was in Costa Rica not some tree hut village in the Amazon. I stand by my comments. With Petey... It's an act! Maybe he could have called Jim Hill, Fred Roggin or Mike Garrett...they did not hear from him either. Did you see Jim or Fred say they talked to Petey and he wanted to pass along his regrets..NO! Read the paper. Mike Garrett said he had NOT talked to Petey about the Miami thing or anything else or that he even knew about the meeting. Didn't Mike deserve that courtesy considering that Mike saved Pete's career after falling on his face as a NFL head coach? In fact Mike Garrett was qouted as saying "his" calls had gone UNANSWERED as well!
Same with the family...no phone call from Petey. Sorry it's not between me and you it's just if it was your son and I was his coach I'd get a hold of you NO MATTER WHAT!!!...so you could hear my voice and I could convey my sympathy directly to you and your family.
Maybe you have a diffent perspective about Costa Rica but I'm sure it wasn't going to be difficult to get in touch with someone...Ask Wayne for a "quickie" to the States, or to use his phone at least. Sorry to disagree with you but I've had to make a call like this, so unfortunately have many coaches, my brother had to make this call this year in fact when one of his players died while practicing. The parents deserved better. My brother knows Pete and is USC's biggest fan and he just shakes his head as well.
Maybe we just see things differently. Boise State showed everyone to expect more from coaches and their relationship with players. See the Yankee turnout for Liddle...Joe Torre, Gary Jetter, ect...that's why Jeter is Jeter and Pete is Pete.
This one just smells bad...poor form.

Family deserved better ...put down the crack pipe and actually take the time to read what was already posted. you bitch about this being about Pete and you go and fuel the fire...Yup...makes sense to me!
Pete was already on vacation when this tragedy happened. Pete cut short his trip to be back here for the team and the family. What more would you have liked him to do? Why would he hunt down a news crew to get his face on camera? He already gave a statement.
This tragedy is about the kid and his family and not about Pete. Maybe he didn't hunt down a Fox news crew because Pete already knew that.
Or wait..maybe you would have liked him to offer to fly the family down to Costa Rica to do the funeral?
Take another hit now....

All this talk about Petey and that poor family is suffering...leader of men my ass!
Who said Pete was NOT a "MTV Look at ME!" glory hog and front runner....NEWS FLASH!!! "It's an ACT!!!"
Maybe there were no FOX affiliates in Costa Rica where Pete could have gone or dispatched a news crew and shown his face in support of the Trojan loss.
Well...well...well....who would have thunk it?

Ryan Smith has a more interesting story than that. Ryan, whose Dad was the amat booster club prez, redshirted as a frosh at Utah (he is pretty young). He kicked butt in the classromm and got so far ahead that he was able to GRADUATE in 3 years.
The NCAA had a rule that allowed him to transfer without sitting out/losing a year - so he is able to transfer to Florida and follow Urban Meyer to complete his education and should have a Masters Degree if he comes back for his Senior season.

SC is my second favorite team ( behind FSU )but there is no way in hell with 2 losses they should be thinking that they deserve #1. Nope. Nada. Christ..SC lost to UCLA.. that alone should make them bury their heads in the sand and STFU.
I hate Florida ( can't make that any more clear ) but I think that Florida would have spanked SC too the way they played last night.
God..I hate saying that.....

Thank you Bluorca!
I thought I was the only person here who realized a member of the SGV was playing, matter of fact, starting in the national title game. I'm still surprised why the Tribune never mentioned anything about him. He has an interesting story. Hellava talent in high school but considered too small by many coaches until Urban Meyer reluctantly took a chance on him for Utah. Next thing you know Utah was playing in a Bowl Game. He then transfers to Florida after issues in Utah took place. Next thing you know, national champions.

i should spell check my blasts, but i'm certain you got the point.....your blind luv for SC tweaks your view, my hate for them does the same.......we need a playoff, its the only true answer......

Hey joe, i stand by statement, no fishing trip, no beach trip, no jungle cruise is more important than being home to help assist and take care of your so called "extended family"....this isnt the 1st yr water boy who dropped dead, it was his kicker!
And to mighty mouse who wears the a little cape.......i say put up or shut up.....they had two losses, they weren't the number one team in the country,....you down blow two games and try to come out screaming your number one.......bottom line, period, END OF YOUR STORY!..... we need a playoff.....then all questions would be answered.....
Posted by: randy | January 9, 2007 4:52 PM
The BCS game did not give us the true no.1 team. USC beats either one of those teams by at least two touchdowns. The let down to UCLA hurt but the true No.1 team is USC. even with two losses talent wise USC is far superior then those two programs that played last nite...California played football is the best in the country...

1.The story was that Pete was already in Costa Rica and the Dolphins owner took his private plane to go track Carroll down.
2.Upon news of the USC tragedy, Pete is now cutting his family vacation short and on a flight home.
No what did you all have to say?
Posted by: Joe Amat | January 9, 2007 1:26 PM
Pete was in Costa Rica before the Danelo tragedy happened, from what I hear Pete is supposed to be back today, I also heard that Dom Capers was going to be the head coach for the Dolphins.
Posted by: elrancho | January 9, 2007 12:57 PM
He is a damn good college coach, but as the leader of this team, his place should be here, even to just be there for the Danelo's. Interesting scoop of news there.........a sellout in the end....wow....

Not an Ohio State fan by an stretch of the imagination..but less of a Florida Fan.
The one thing that I constantly could NOT understand the whole painful 3 hours of watching that game ( actually 2 things if you count the flagrant holding on the opening kickoff )is why in heavens name the linebackers for OS were playing so far back? I know they played Zone but come on...after the 10th short pass to the open zone in front you think that any Pee-Wee coach would have made adjustments.
As painful as it is to say, Florida put on an Offensive Clinic last night. Wow...did they ever!
I also wonder if Smith took any good shots of the dome for his scrapbook...since he spent a considerable amount of time on his back looking up at it. Florida defensive rush was beautiful...you have to say that.
Lastly..I don't think that even Ginn could have saves OS from themselves last night. 51 days off just let the fire in OS smolder out.....

Randy,
Partying may not be all Carroll is doing in Costa Rica. He's also interviewing. Check this out ... I pulled it from profootballtalk.com (great site, by the way)
"As we first suggested earlier on Sunday based on flightaware.com data and unconfirmed rumors that put Wayne Huizenga's plane and Pete Carroll's body in Costa Rica, a meeting apparently has occurred between Dolphins brass and the USC head coach."

SHHS...SC has two losses there buddy, thats why they didnt play in the championship game, not one as you listed, whether you stupidly believe that "they lost" those games, that they didnt "get beat" by those supposedly weaker opponents (scoreboard baby)...........I thought i heard on the news this morning that Pete Carroll is on vacation in costa rica, instead of staying here and being the head of the SC family during this horrible time for the team. I cant believe that. Yeah, thanks for being right by the familys side there Pete when the family is at there absolute worst.
I guess his family vacation couldnt be rescheduled, must have been some internet deal that he woulda lost his deposit on or something really f@cking important.
Can you confirm this Aram, is Pete partying down in Costa Rica. That report was on AM 1070. Sure would be nice to have the Head Coach of your sons team at the funeral, what about all that "team spirit BS he spews every week".....

My fellow Buckeye fans,
You should all be sour about the BCS. Under the old system, Ohio State plays in the Rose Bowl, beats USC and wins the national title. Instead, the Buckeyes got Florida. Wait, they beat USC, don't they?

boise state is good, ill give them that, but they wouldve gotten smashed by florida. florida is just to fast for everybody. the only reason they had a lost is because they hurt themselves
Posted by: covinahigh | January 9, 2007 9:23 AM
Boise State deserves to play for the National Champioship!
Only undefeated team!

Amat Pride!
Everyone from Bishop Amat should be proud of our own Ryan Smith! What an honor to have an alumni on this stunning Florida team. CONGRATS TO THE GATORS!

Ryan Smith.. from http://florida.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=604376
For only the second time this year the members of the Alligator Alley went with defense in voting for Ryan Smith as the Alley-Gator Great. Wouldn't you know it, on the weekend that the Florida defense has its worst outting of the year, it is a defensive player who brings home the award.
There should be no arguement that he is indeed deserving after recording 11 tackles, an interception and a blocked punt in the Gators 26-19 victory over Vanderbilt.
THE REASON WHY: Ryan Smith has improved in every game to the point where he is now dominant. His closing speed and instincts are second to none!! Give him the game ball coach!!! GOOO GATORS!!! - chadjo1
Just from what I recall, Ryan Smith had a blocked punt, a pick, a nice pass defended and was in on several tackles. He was Reggie Nelson today. Ryan Smith was the man ... - FresnoGator
I went with Ryan Smith this week. He is a clutch player for us and IMO has been overlooked by other teams. - altball24
The only person from California to be in Florida. Bishop Amat should be proud of him and his accomplishment, the last Amat alum that won a natinoal title was Jason Leach.
Posted by: 123c | January 9, 2007 1:22 AM
As good as Ginn is , he doesn't play defense and defense won that game. Because defense wins Championships!
"Speed kills ....those that don't have it!"
Too much team speed for the Ohio State team to handle. OSU line never stood a chance with or without Ginn. The Big 10 is over rated. Look at the Rose Bowl history. The game has changed...speed is the name of the game!
Another point...Urban Meyers was right, Florida deserved to play for the National Championship. Congratulations to all Gator fans!
Final Rankings:
1) Florida
2) Boise State
3) USC
4) Oklahoma
5) Ohio State

C'mon aram,
Even if OSU did have gin the outcome would've been the same. That D line did nothing but pressure smith. Alot of his passes werent anywhere near the recievers, and he wasnt bothering to go through his reads. He kept throwing it to gonzales instead of finding the blitz man.

It was easy to see it coming all year we havent had that "oh my god upset" yeah maybe the USC and UCLA game but not really. How better could the stage have been set it was perfect with all the drama before the bowl game announcements up to the pregame trash talking on the field.good job Gaters!!!
Posted by: Open your eyes | January 8, 2007 11:38 PM
Its pretty sad when Ohio State, the #1 team in the nation could lose this bad. You can't put the loss on the fact that Ginn was out, it stung but the Buckeyes did have other offensive weapons to turn to and Oh Yea the Heisman Trophy Winner! Im not an OSU or UF fan but Florida just simply worked Ohio State in all aspects of the game, OSU had no answer for that great spread offense and faced the toughest defense all year.
Posted by: Dom | January 8, 2007 10:53 PM
Losing Ted Ginn Jr. early in the first quarter ruined OSU's offense. Nobody on ESPN is even mentioning that. This game wouldn't have been a blowout with Ginn playing. I can't just tip my hat and do the "Florida was the better team" crap right now. The Gators were the better team with Ginn out, I'll give them that.
