Coach McCullough has also given that program a big lift. I think the trib should consider him to be not only "Coach of the Year" but also to coach that team. The energy he has will definitely rub off on the players. Aram, please consider this. Think of all the things they accomplish. 1st league title in 10 years.....1st playoff win in 16 years. What other program has turned it around that much in one year.
GO KNIGHTS!

ARROYO Boys Basketball was given a major lift from JEREMY MORITA... The Star-News team wishes they could have him but as Freddy told us, Arroyo is a Trib school and not a cross-over like some other schools...So instead he will tear it up for the EAST SGV, since the west wont cover him. Who ever is selecting the all-area team, dont forget about JEREMY! GO KNIGHTS GO!

GO WILLIAM WALLACE, NICK FEILDS AND SHAWN ROSENTHAWL FROM WEST COVINA.......
Posted by: 1FAN | February 24, 2007 2:45 PM
Hey Aram, I hope you have enough talent over there to compete with our guys, this is arguably the best Star-News team ever assembled. The girls, well that's another story....

Nope ... no profit, no cut. Believe me, I'd like to put up the money for the gym rental and then keep the proceeds. But the Trib and no school profits from the game. It all goes to charity once the money from the gym rental and costs are paid back.

Joe ..shut up! always with the angles!

AT
Granted it must be plenty of work, but I'm sure that amat made some $$ when we hosted it at our gym, and there must have been a cut the previous couple years also. No?
Posted by: Joe Amat | February 23, 2007 10:55 PM
Joe Amat,
If work is what you consider wealth, then yes, we're spreading the wealth. Nobody profits from the game but charity and APU's gym. Not the Trib, not some high school. Coach Wiard had helped us put on the game for the past three years, but he justifiably wanted the year off. Coach Hamlow has helped out since the games inception and now it's his turn to get burnt out. Then, it will be somebody else.
Bubba,
All-Area hoops is due out in late March.

no more amat connection, or just spreading the wealth?
Posted by: Joe Amat | February 23, 2007 7:39 PM
hey aram, when will u release the all area selections for basketball. im very interested.

Any SENIORS chosen to the first, second or third team Trib/Star-News All-Area teams automatically qualify for the game. The remaining spots, up to 15, will be chosen by Coach Hamlow, myself and whomever is coaching the team. In Pasadena, Fred Robledo and the Star-News coach will choose their remaining roster spots.
According to Robledo, Blair won't be eligible to have any players in this year's game because of the actions of two Blair players in last year's game.
