SGV girls hoops keeps rolling ...

They call her Biscuit. Don't ask me why.

Way to pick up the boys, ladies. You'll be doing it all your lives, so you might as well get started now! Amat wins, Sierra Vista wins, Walnut wins, C-Town wins, San Dimas wins, Diamond Ranch wins ... This is Girls Hoops Country!!!!

Let's hope that they keep winning and extend Wiard's stay as the girls coach for as long as possible.

Do you also get the sense that he is going to move to the boys full time after this season? Maybe he can turn them back around too. They clearly need something!

Living Legend,

What I found impressive was Atascadero had three starters at halftime up in the stands talking to friends and family. I don't know how they do things up in the Central Coast, but around here, you don't do stuff like that even with a 12-point lead. What Covina did inside against Atascadero would've been child abuse were it not kid-on-kid violence.

Tough drive going to Simi yesterday but worth it...Altho I stated earlier that I thought the Chicas of BA would be in for a game versus Royal, it was a mismatch from the onset. I guess the Lady Lancers have turned it up a notch since coming out flat against ELMO in the opener. Lynwood is next and it only gets tougher from here on out. This will be one tight game but if all holds true and the Chicas do get the fear put in them by Wiard they can play with anyone in this tournament....going to that Hostile enviroment over in Lynwood is a challenge in itself....Mighty Are The Chicas That Wear The Blue And Gold....

How bout them lady colts aram :)

What up and welcome to the Legends lounge...We got the clone, matmwtbag, and as always we got big Aram in the mix among others.

Well i just got back from C-Town's win...improbable as it was the lady colts came back from being down 12 at half time (without a 5-0 late run it could have been at least 17)...The Colts clamp down on the "d" holding Atascadero to 11 points in the second half... The crowd was loud and rockin...and i think the ladies really feed of that in the second half...good job ladies....Aram was that not impressive?!

Any one seen the Magnolia girls basketball team coached by Mike Anderson. They lost to a great Diamond Ranch team at the Pyramid in last year's championship game.

Went to see them against Bloomington Saturday and they busted them up with leads of 26-30 points. This girls team can dribble (everyone), shoot (everyone) and play great transition offense and defense (again everyone).

At least 4 college bound players on this team and they are young and younger. Great chemistry and great fan base. Want to see a great coach in action look at Magnolia's girls basketball team. By the way Mike Anderson and staff coached BOTH the boys and girls team this year! How's that for great coaching!

Better fundamentals and stronger skill level than many boys teams I've seen this year. NO BULL!

I don't know if it would be at Amat, but if it is, all you Amat honks had better get there. You'll need some home cooking to get past Lynwood.

You could be right about the refs. I am not knocking Candice I think she is a good player but it seems like the team goes as she goes and if in foul trouble the noose starts to get tight around the supporting cast. seems like Michelle Franco has disappeared this season?? I thought she was going to have a breakout season...Have yet to see her really step up....Maybe the ELMO game shook up the Lady Lancers and they will crank it up a notch come Weds up in Simi. Weds would be a great time for Candice to have a dominant game. Aram if Amat advances is the Sat. game at the Amat Gym?

I don't know much about the division in Covina is in. They're the No. 7 seed, which in theory means they'll get out of the second round. But who knows? They had a struggle with El Segundo on Saturday. The great news is that the Colts play at home again on Wednesday (again, the fat man will be there). Anything after this round would be gravy, in my opinion.

How far do you think the lady colts will get aram?

You know, Candice has taken heat in the past for her style of play, but I like it. I wondered when she was a sophomore if she could play with attitude like Erin Myrick, and if you saw in the state championship against St. Mary's, you'd know it's not a problem for her. Some big girls are timid by nature, but not Candice. She intimidates the way she's supposed to. I think her getting in foul trouble often has to do with what kind of officials are at the game. If the refs haven't seen a big girl play rough before, then Candice will have three in the first half. If the refs have seen big time girls hoops basketball, then Candice gets her double-double and finishes with two fouls. I agree MAT, she needs to dominate for Amat to have any shot in this division. But hasn't Candice always delivered?

Well lets hope UCLA bound Candice Brown starts to bring her "A" game and stays out of foul trouble. Altough Candice has some talent around her, the Lady Lancers will only go deep in this tounament if Candice steps it up and starts to really dominate a game. She cannot help the team riding the pine due to silly contact fouls...I commend her agressiveness but she needs to play smarter for the Lancers to get to the state.

The Amat Chicas have players who rise to the occasion. Ever since 2005, when they blewout everyone, they tend to play down to competition. But when they get the fear of Wiard put into them, they always step up. I think they'll be alert on Wednesday.

Royal is really going to be a tough game on the Lancer Chicas. Royal looks good on paper and the Lady Lancers have to travel to Simi Valley for this one. I am Hoping they come back home with the W, and then throw it al on the line Sat. vs. Lynwood....Could the Lancers have been off their game with El Mo due to the 9 day layoff or they not ready this year talent wise to get to the State?...good luck Girls the showdown with Lynwood is what I am looking for.

And if you expand to include the Whittier area you've got St. Paul and La Serna in the next round as well. I think both those teams have got a great chance to make at least the semi's if not the finals.
