This is how I feel right now ...

The Bumpus hounds ate our boys basketball teams!
Damien, gone. Glendora, gone. South Hills, gone. Charter Oak, gone. Arroyo, gone. Nogales, gone. And so on ... I had a feeling the playoffs would be like this. Thank heavens for Northview, San Dimas and whomever else won on Friday night. At least the SGV saw some teams make it to the second week of the postseason.

Maybe our girls hoops teams will bail us out just like a Christmas duck.

Sure Randy, I'll see you at the Centurions game. Your kid is always welcomed.
As far as Magnolia...next year could be State Champs...they really never believed they were as good as they were. Too bad.
Look out for Magnolia next year!

Centurions Update!
LA Centurions 41 Riverside 0
Big crowd at Salesian for the game and a special treat to honor the 25 years the Los Angeles Centurions have been together.
Even former Police Chief Darryl Gates was in attendance and received the biggest ovation of the night! Imagine that!
Next game in two weeks...also at Salesian. Come out and support the men and women that risk their lives to protect us all.
Most touching moment was the "giving" of the jersey to the family of a "fallen" LAPD dad. Very moving.
Mustangs well represented on the Centurions from the beginning.

Back-to-back champion,
Los Altos made their division final five consecutive years in the '03 season when they beat O.LU, which was their back to back championship.
11 rings!!

Joe, Coach Aguirre was my Freshmen Head Coach.
Yes he coached with my brother on the Carson Championship team. After Coach Aguirre retired he went to the Championship game with Dorsey. Not bad uhh?
Point about the passing league game was the same Coach Canales made, also a family friend, was that the Carson defense that year spread out like motor oil hiting the floor...thick and heavy. That was my point...ever see a QB hold the ball 4x? I sucked at QB and even I threw the ball..."on general principle"...pads or NO pads. Harbinger of their outstanding defense...don't you think?
Coming to the Centurions game at Salesian this Saturday? Maybe Coach Aguirre will be there and he can you all abouty THAT team and his DC from Carson.
Joe you went to Amat as well? You sound more like the Cantwell type? lol Say it ain't so Joe!

Nice post MBAG,....I know Diamond Bar did it 98-99....I don't consider myself a hater of Amat, I'm just shocked at how blind some of your peeps are....My cousin is Carrillo, we're not real close but believe me I was hoping ya'll had more than just a good season. It simply didn't work out that way, and then when all these know-it-alls started popping off, well.....I just got dragged into this...........you've got 17 kids coming back, we got 15 starters and 40 kids coming back....just doing the best we can with what we've got.....i feel your pain
Posted by: randy | February 26, 2007 12:57 PM
All programs have their ups and downs. Amat goes thru one of those down periods and everyone jumps all over it...we are where we are and will stay there even if it means losing for the next ten years. We are not going anywhere and will continue to play the level of competion we play win or lose. If CIF lowers us down that is up to them not the schools choice. If CIF keeps us there we will play on. It all comes in cycles and that next wave of talent could be right around the corner....all the haters come in to promote their schools and that is their right and as far as the SGV we do have some good public schools in this era. will those schools stay on top , no one knows??.....who knows what 6th graders are out there and what the future holds. With tuition constantly going up I can see the angle of kids going to public now ... Amat does take a hit in getting the best coming to their school. Does not matter we play with what we have and whomever they put in front of us. We play with pride and spirit reguardless of what all the bashers say. We dodge no one and if some of the local HS should beat us in a game it is no big deal they are, or were just better that year..winning and losing fluxuates...I really have not seen, Amat included, any of our local HS lately running any tables as far as CIF championships go.......can anyone name me the last back to back to back champion??? thats running a table for you.......all of our SGV football teams are at the same winning level of non consistancy when it comes to winning football championship.......
Posted by: MATMTWTBAG | February 26, 2007 10:37 AM
Amat talks alot and I think its time for them to start winning in the league that CIF has put them in! Alot of pride, alot of talking but something has happened over there.
They can't seem to compete in their league and win the title.
Can't continue to blame others!
Posted by: CO RULES | February 26, 2007 7:59 AM
your in denial.....but its amazing how well you folks see things after an Amat loss.....get used to lots more of them...
Posted by: randy | February 25, 2007 11:42 PM
Not a single thing you said is right.
1. Amat is on another level than the rest of the valley, both figuratively and literally. When is the last time anyone in the vally beat Amat in football. It's been probably 3-4 seasons.
2. No bro, you're not fine over in DB. Your program is trash, and it isn't getting better anytime soon. Have fun battling Ayala for last place again this year.
3. Amat will never play in a public school league or in a lower league with Bosco Tech, Pius, and Dan Murphy. You can't even argue this. It will never happen.
Your team was 2-8 last season, will finish in last place this year, and you, randy, will continue to be obsessed with Amat and all blog about your penis envy for the Lancers.
Posted by: DB is irrelevant | February 25, 2007 11:22 PM
But your Amat......your so bitchen....your supposed to play at "another level"....yeah right! You soon will be though, cuz your on the way out kid.....it's a tough pill to swallow--with all that pride you speak of. Enjoy your tall warm mug filled with piss and vinegar, there should be plenty to go around, with your talent bailing on you!
We will be just fine over here bro, we got nothing to lose,....you weenies on the other hand are about to be playing with Bosco Tech, Pius, and Dan Murphy....unless you break from tradition completely and find a home in an SGV league.....you can't hang with the big boys anymore cuz! Hope your losing sleep over it!

Amat got booted from the Trinity? Does that mean Loyola got booted too?
Laughing stock? You've won 5 games in two years.
Try again... 5th time's a charm for you DB people.
Posted by: DB is irrelevant | February 25, 2007 8:30 PM
Oh I am very in tuned to what is going on in DB. But watching your star explode is just a much bigger light show. Especially after witnessing what a buncha concieted assholes you have in your stands who are in a constant state of denial, and fail to acknowledge the train wreck that is before them.
Your the laughing stock of the Trinity--thats why you were booted from their league. That was the first step. Next will be a taste of the lower tiers, where you'll see and WE'LL all see, how the playing field has been leveled.
Enjoy your time on the tightrope here bud, these next couple of seasons determine just how hard you fall from grace. Your working without a net, and the local crowd obviously hopes you go out with a huge bang!

Two CIF Championships is quite an accomplishment. Congrats to your bro.
That Carson team that Amat is about 7-2 against all-time? Let's stick to accomplishments with pads on - passing league??? Please!
He must have coached at Carson under my good friend, John Aguirre. Just before John became the head coach at Carson he was an assistant coach at....Bishop Amat. He was on the staff of the 1995 CIF Championship team at Amat and coached under the Defensive Coordinator at the time who was... Mike Difiori. And John's son went to ....oh , that's right - he went to Bishop Amat also. John is a very wise man. He is now doing a great job in making progress in improving the CIF-LA City Section.

Self promotion. Come see the Centurions play at Salesian March 3, 2007. They'll be honoring Roddy Hyatt. The first centurion Head Coach who is has sponsored a Golf Tounament for the blind for many many years.
Hope I'm not "self promotioning" Coach Hyatt. Maybe some of the St. Paul players will remember him and come out. Same for the U La Verne or ELAC former players.
No need to toot my horn. Just giving props to those that deserve it. As far as my brother's creditials..you MUST be stupid or just misinformed if you think he's over rated. Do some more homework and call around. Or just ask DA's daddy what he brings to the table. He'll be the DC that game too. so maybe you can attend, help out a good cause , meet me and learn a little about football in the process. Don't hate brother just cause others have. Salesian's in the House and we're all about PRIDE and COMMUNITY. Evidence our yearly Alumni Fundraiser Dances. You're invited too. No matter what color you wore in school. Almost half of the attendees didn't even attend Salesian..just like our legendary "sock hops"! lol Cause we're all about "BROTHERHOOD".
As far as coaching at Salesian....his former players asked him to help out...it's about LOYALTY. With a senior class of 70, maybe we aren't "slaying giants" but check out Robledo's blog and the respect for our players is still there. Still doesn't change what his defense (Carson) did to Amat on their field this year and the last time he coached against Amat four years ago, in passing league, the QB didn't even release the ball on four, count them four, straight downs!!! Di Fiori yelled, "JUST THROW THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS!!!" That defense has two starters at Cal #55 invites him to his home games every year! His son wears #55 out of respect and #55 has my newphew's picture in his locker as do ALL his former players. It's about Family, Brotherhood and just being there when those "single parent" players need a friend. So maybe you're missing something.
I don't NEED to promote my brother. Dorsey, Carson, Narbonne, Wilson, Dorsey, Compton College will do just fine. Best of luck with your point of view. Come out to the game..EVERYONE IS WELCOMED AT SALESIAN...EVEN YOU.
Game over brother.

Posted by: DB is irrelevant | February 25, 2007 11:08 AM
Get over the phantom 5th down bro, get on with your life, high school football ain't that big a deal--you idiot....although watching your sham of a team plummet downwards like a friggin meteor is VERY amusing to say the least!
Posted by: randy | February 25, 2007 9:23 AM
DB fans who talk about someone else's crumbling football empire are the definition of irony. Your football program peaked 8 years ago with a 5th down.
Anyways, none of this makes Salesian's DC as good as his self-promoting brother wants us to believe.
Posted by: DB is irrelevant | February 24, 2007 8:59 PM
I was at more than a few of your games this year, and your were alot closer to 2-8 than you were to 8-2......you saw how truly weak and overwhelmed you are at your level......time to pack it up, take your dose of reality, and try to "man up" and save whats left of your crumbling empire....your so overated, and your constantly shown on the field of play how your time in the sun is OVER, BEEEEEE-ATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You dont have the horses anymore, your lineman were to small and to slow....uh---how many of those stellar lineman are going D-1 this year?...that right tough guy---not one.....you don't have it anymore, your reduced to hissing matches with SGV teams, instead of late round playoff appearances against your OLD rivals, you find yourself online at 3 am trying to defend your pitiful performances on the field!
Your done bro, and everyone wants to get their jabs and kicks as you tumble disgracefully down the drain!

See ya tough guy, thanks for the memories!

According to CIF website, Salesian had 4 all-CIF defenders and posted 3 shutouts: Calvary Chapel (who was shut out 5 times last year), St. Genevieve (who was held to 7 points or less 5 five times last year, including 2 shutouts and a 2 point performance), and Murphy (who was shutout 3 times and held below 7 points 5 times). On the other hand, they gave up 52 to Maranatha, 42 to Huntington Park (which was HP's season high for points), and 38 to Sun Valley Poly (who finished 4-6 overall).
They had a nice season, but they weren't exactly slaying giants.
Posted by: Self- Promotion is Fun | February 24, 2007 10:14 AM
Pity about Fuchs. I never saw him play, but my son says he was a very good QB before he got hurt. He probably would have backed Pertusati next season and got the starting nod as a senior.
His dad is a great guy. We have worked together.
Two other boys also got booted from Damien behind that incident. I hope the best for all 3 of those kids and that they have learned their lessons.
I have to agree that dragging minors' names into the mud is pretty low. Oh well, such is life on the 'net.
Also: I had to laugh about the Glendora Little League feud going on. It is so stupid. There are 3 leagues and they should concentrate on their respective kids and let the idiocy go away. I have seen it first hand as both a Manager and Board Member at one of the leagues. The powers that be at both Glendora American and Glendora South Hills need to "let it go".

Posted by: randy | February 23, 2007 9:06 PM
Mr. Fuchs is a friend of mine. Don't involve me in your shit Joe Anonymous!
Been to gym and vile is not a part of my life. Maybe everyone just smiles in my face but I've NEVER had ONE dad tell me anything derogatory to my face. NOT ONE! Isn't that remarkable? Not be cool, don't blog...NOTHING! Only on this blog anonymously. I have however had people swear it wasn't them. Swear on their "faith" I just smile and say no problem. Someone once mention on several occassions a player by name that "hated me and thought my comment/suggestions" to him were wasting his time. He also mentioned how this soph. WR thought I was a joke. It was vile bogus blog crap! I spoke to that WR for 45 minutes before the BB playoff game when he saw me standing by my car waiting for my sons to get tickets for the game. 45 minutes! About nothing but football and life in general. We both entered the game at halftime! Even though we were there 10 minutes before the game started! Great kid. Very polite and a tremendously generous family.
Yet if I listened to the shit on this blog I would have believed otherwise. I ignored those vile comments because I know what I'm about as well as the friendships I make. And no punk ass from Amat or Damien is going to tell me otherwise/differently.
Maybe you should have meet me at your Amat Tuesday Chalk talks and you would have meet me in person rather than the crap that has been written about me. Maybe you should ask Austin's dad for my phone number. I seem to walk Amat halls without fear why would Damien be any different. Ask Spooner or Canales if I'm welcomed in your hallowed halls and field. Give me a break. Next time make sure it's me before you comment. Besides what happened on the bus? the drug incident? who mentioned that? The drugs on the girls team? I knew NOTHING about any of that! And neither did anyone that isn't from Amat.
Every school has problems. And every parent prays that their kid is not involved in them. Mr Fuchs was a kind, polite parent and my heart goes out to his family and to his son. I always said I thought he was the best QB and offered to help him in any way I could. He even offered to take me up on a helicopter ride. So make that call and get off my ass. See you at Amat next game. Maybe you can introduce yourself and see for yourself what I'm about. Randy from DB did and I've made the same offere to Mike the Clone....brave is a brave does. And being and anonymous bitch is just not my style. Especially when some punk ass goes up my head for entertainment.
By the way you might have my brother on YOUR football sidelines very soon..maybe then your defense will come together and you'll be singing a different tune. Notice Carson is still running his defensive schemes and look what they did to you this year. Two Championship rings, four finals appearances, over 30 CIF and ALL City players and 12 of his former players currently playing Div I ball tells me Amat would do well to hire him.
By the way last year Salesian pitched four shut outs and had 5 ALL CIF players on defense before losing to Marantha in the playoffs. Look it up. Defense wins Championships. And to think he offered to help the Freshmen Damien football team last year for free! Former D coordinator for Compton College and he gets the cold shoulder at Damien for a Freshmen position? Go Figure. Again ask Austin's dad or Spooner about his credentials and my number.

I agree keep the names out of the blog...they are still underage. also this is how rumors that are not true get started...All good if we were talking adults here but these are underage teens, and to slam them with something like that true or not true is not cool. I happen to know the Fuchs Family, not cool to rub their face in it over a Damein hates Amat football war of words.

low lifes?...grow up?...dirty laundry? No names were mentioned in my post.
Unlike what you do Mr. Co____ .... I mean PATBTCTB !:?)
You can run - but you cannot hide.
No - airing "dirty laundry would be using specifics...like calling out certain players by name, smacking other players by name and calling them coaches pets, and then getting in pissing contests on this blog with other parents and students - all by using specific names.
I can walk the halls or the sidelines without the vile hatred that is thrown at you if you ever have the courage to enter that spiffy new gym with the "mini-tron: on the wall. Couldn't afford the Jumbotron? I thought some ex-Salesian cat stole my big screen until I got home to check.
And the ex-Spartan kids that we get...well, the recent evidence shows that they can't hack it on our football team and end up moving on to the aforementioned "dump"
and BTW - it's Back-to-Back STATE Champions in GBB !:?)

Hey all you Amat complainers and bitch machines.......why would any decent parent want to send their kid there again?
Your school is disorganized, spiteful, drug infested, riddled with player discipline problems, over rated players, malcontent parents, money hungry administrators, coaches who play favorites, unfair tryout practices, suspensions, players assaulting each other, infighting coaches, back stabbing Ms. Wiard, ungrateful, petty and oh yeah.....you are back to back CIF Champions in girls basketball and now the wrestling chamionship...what is a man who inherits the world and loses his soul in the process....a Lancer!
Joey baby..."don't want to air our dirty laundry" and THEN YOU DO !!! Classic Joe Amat
What a bunch of low lifes....grow up and shut up!
Oh by the way that QB Fuchs that transfered into Damien from Bishop Amat just got kicked out for "stealing iPods, cell phones and drug possession" so please stop sending your trash to La Verne..the dump is in Hacienda Heights! lol
Notice the students we send you actually graduate from your school. Petty are the Babies that Cry the Blues...PATBTCTB!

Glad to hear that there are other alumni that are outraged of the way Msgr. Carroll has turned his head and the buss incident you were talking about, that is Christian Morality being kicked in the chops. Character counts is what is preached at Amat, but it must start at the top.
Msgr. Carroll must go, bring back Mrs. Wiard as the school President.
Keep it going all Amat supporters.
Msgr. Carroll must go.
Someone please pay off the gym so he can retire and we can get back to the Amat tradition and put the Alma Mater back on the wall where it belongs.
Pride is forever and the Amat students of today don't have it. Heck ask the student body to recite the Alma Mater and they will not know it. Ask an Alumni and they will.
Msgr. Carroll must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leave it to Mike the clone to open this bag of worms and start this discussion even before baseball season starts. Got to hand it to the clone he knows how to get things started. Kind of funny the little league stuff comes up about the parents. A certain little league here in Glendora being currently run by some parents with a no talent kid is trying to shut down a local little league that's been around for years and move it to another area. Can't wait for their son to get into high school and have a rude awakening. So the parent nonsense is nothing new at any level only now it is getting worse.
Posted by: Feeling U | February 21, 2007 4:21 PM
Monsignor Carroll does not know what it going on with the school except in the finance area. "give me more money!"....well if I cant get you one with cash I will get you another way....boy he must have a retirement fund coming to him where he is going to make out like a fat rat....he does not care about the sports program and give a crap what takes place outside the classroom and on road trips...he wants Cash period.....he studies the bottom line not the sports wins and losses....he is too old to be running that school and Mrs. Wiard would have been the logical choice to get it back up to speed. It does start at the top and right now all Carroll wants is money to pay off that gym and pad his retirement pocket.........too late now but Coach Nieto does not have a stacked deck due to the Duke BS and will figure it out them like Difiori BAIL!
Posted by: MATMTWTBAG | February 21, 2007 4:10 PM
john,
without airing the specifics of our dirty laundry, the bus incident in baseball, the vandalism among the football team, drug allegations on girls basketball (remember a significant player missing a CIF final vs BM because of it), and locker room theft on the boys basketball team under the present coach are all incidents where Msgr did not follow thru with discipline to the players. how will anyone learn? it seems that the only "clean" program was boys basketball around the championship year - and we let that coach go! what happened there? might have been one of the biggest mistakes.

little league parent ? Burnout ? I think u missed my point. I'm my sons biggest fan & his biggest critic !!! If I was being a little league parent I probably would have transferred him out like everyone else who was not given a chance, not cut ! not given a chance ! When I say played , I mean played ! Not just on team cuz I paid $ ! In wrestling, its one on one, mano a mano ! No politics, no my daddy donates a lot of $ or my moms hot ! No bullshit ! U challenge for a spot & have to keep it every week. If u beat the kid ahead of u, its ur spot ! No favortism, Nothing ! My son being able to crack the line up on Varsity Wrestling after 2 yrs of hardwork & not knowing anything about wrestling should tell u what kind of athlete, work ethic & determination he is/has !!!! O ya, i forgot the most important thing ! He also makes Honor Roll !!!
Posted by: caballero | February 21, 2007 3:17 PM
True, All Star Players and LL players get cut each year from the frosh team. This is a fact of life and parents have got to deal with it. The fact is that not all LL players are going to make the high school team that they are going to for baseball, only about 15-20 new freshman make it each year. As soon a parents start to realize that when there child is 9-10-11-12 the kids will enjoy the game more. The LL age kids have to be allowed to have fun so they want to come back and keep off the streets.
As for Amat and the past with coach Kendrena, that era was centered around DUkes and that was Bull Sh--. I know players that had played for other teams and kicked the Dukes butts, but were not given opportunities, HECK THEY MUST HAVE SOME TALENT THEY ARE PLAYING IN COLLEGE ON SCHOLARSHIP. Kendrena bowed down to the Dukes orginization and they bullied younger players into playing for them. Amat has some very good young talent in the program and I sure hope Nieto does not let people destroy what he came to Amat for.
Kendrena let so much happen to the program, it was time for him to leave. I do not care if he had won CIF, immorality should not have been tolerated and Msgr. Carroll was informed about the incidents and did nothing. He is not a leader and has to go.
The fact is without strong leadership from above this kind of Sh-- will continue to happen and in all sports.
Time for a leadership change at Amat.
Msgr. Carroll must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Living Legend,
I agree that not all travel players are studs and some parents waste their time and money playing travel with a less talented kid for bragging rights and do agree with ther burnout phase of Travel. The point with Contreras is he did not know how to evaluate talent and was mainstreaming his program the Dukes into Amats baseball system...yes good point the higher ups allowed it but our program turned away some big time baseball players I mean Studs of the game to place a Dukes Only team. BIG MISTAKE!...I could imagine the chemistry right now with the real players playing as juniors and soon to be seniors or the now seniors playing with that crop of juniors....the team is mediocre as of right now and there is no real squad there...you go get those baseball wrestlers and those football players and you cannot tell me you put them on the diamond and they will outplay 1/2 that team right now.....Contreras screwed that program over 3 yrs ago and now the baseball program is at a all time low stud coach or not. Contreras promised the parents of the dukes that if your kid came to amat he was on the team no tryout necessary. Heck there were kids from the Arsenal and the So Cal Bombers and Chino Hills Storm that did not get a fair chance cue to overpopulations of Duke players.....

Understand your point, but in this case CAB and Amat Learns is right on in this case!
Contreras is a joke and doesn't know his ass from first base.
I agree the school and coaching staff should not have allowed it, but lets face, someone believed in his BS and now, the program and other talented players have suffered from it!
It's a disgrace to the AMAT system and I understand someone finally steped up and said NO MORE! Give Andy some time and he'll turn it around!
Posted by: Change is good! | February 20, 2007 10:35 PM
Hey cab here is the problem with travel ball and with your statement....firts off stop being such a little league parent...all kinds of people get cut from freshmen sports...look at pete rose and mike jordan (yes i just called him mike jordan)....so it is not like your child was the first to get cut from a team that he could have made....second there is a problem with travel ball and that is when a child plays travel ball it automatically makes parents think that their child is better then they might be (this is not a slight on your child, this is a slight on the whole travel ball way of thinking)...i mean when major league baseball comes out and speaks out against year around baseball for youth, then there is a problem. The problem is called burn out....
Now i also believe that a coach should not be involved in travel ball or any other youth program and also coach at a high school...just sounds like a conflict of interest to me....but dont fault the coach, fault the system that allows for this to happen. When this conflict of interest happens, this is when either recruiting happens at public schools or a whole team is pretty much guranteed a spot on a team at a private school if they choose to attend.
Knowlegde has just been dropped.

Amat Learns & MATMTWTBAG,
You guys are so right on ! My son played travel ball all his young life, came to Amat to play baseball & got cut or ( was'nt given a chance !!! ) cuz he was'nt a Duke. He played against the Best in So Cal, Placentia Mustangs, Chino Hills Storm , SD Stars & played in a real league, USSSA against real competiton from the OC, not the bullshit league the Dukes play in CABA with teams like Bell, So Gate, Boyle Heights Dodgers etc.... The coach your refering to was Contreras not Calderon. He held a bullshit tryout my sons frosh yr & not one coach was holding a clip board with kids names to evaluate them ! I believe there was about 15 Dukes already on the team ! My son was so heartbroken he turned to WRESTLING which he had never done b4 & is know a CIF CHAMPION !!!!! THANKS TO THE FAT ASS COACH !!!! MIGHTY ARE THE MEN WHO WEAR THE BLUE & GOLD SINGLETS !!!

Amat Learns,
It is tough when you let someone misguide you due to politics. Coach Nieto should have come in and went to AD office and put out the word he is recruiting within the school for varsity baseball. He took what was given to him and is stuck with a so so team. Who know they may come thru but we are talking BA Basebal here and they have not gone out and got the best players to come out. The wrestling coaches I give credit to. They come out after a football practice and ask to see which kids are intrested in coming out for wrestling. That is a great idea. They have com eup with some pretty good wrestlers in doing this football players are strong and have player baseball before and if tuned up correctly (from Nieto) can hit a ball a long distance. Agressiveness counts and as they pump weights getting ready for football season there is from what I know travel ball baseball players in there. Pitchers, catchers and outfielders, quickness for base stealing.....all working out and not on the baseball Diamond. Nieto should have pitched his program to all and like wrestling you would have had the real players show up....Our baseball program great coach or not is not going to get it done....players make coaches and right now those players play for coach Verti.

The West Covina Dukes program and the talent of players coming out of that system is simply not what it used to be! Back in the 90's it was very good, but now its continues to compete in the CABA league which is VERY weak, beat up on teams that suck and say your the winning program in the USA for 13/14 year olds. What a joke!
I think Ken started to figure that out and didn't let the Fat Boy pull his bullshit anymore!
Andy won't put with the BS

The situation with Glendora Baseball has been mounting for about two+ years. The days of having power house pitchers to carry you like Morrison, Romero, and Villalobos are over! Any coach could have won with the talent of though guys!
Now comes the time for Henley to start rebuilding and learning how to get more out of his players! Be a teacher of the game and life first, respect and be fair to your players second, and create an environment where players will go through walls for you! Quite frankly, he hasn’t done this and his record shows it!
The parents in Glendora can be tuff and expect a lot, but if Coach P can do it, then Henly better start to take notice.

Players make coaches is true. But politics also come into play with players and coaches. LL MVPS and All Star Caliper players were not welcome in Amats program due to the pipeline that Amat goes thru with the WC Dukes. They left allot of talent aside due to this and are NOT fielding their best team due to this. Lots of the talent transfered and lots of talent said screw it and joined Football and Wrestling. Due to some fat ass coach named Calderon who was too lazy to properly evaluate talent and stuck with Duke players only...Andy Neito is finding out right now how much talent he has and it is not much...Great hire but the results will be the same.Nothing to write home about. Besides Tommy Reyes Amat has no pitching. Most of the baseball talent is working out with weights right now getting ready for Football season..

Living Legend,
Valid points but I think we agree to disagree.
As I stated in my post...I will ask around and see from the kids why they aren't playing and foregoing their varsity years in high school and playing in summer leagues elsewhere.
Dude, I have a feeling the parents have something to do with it and you are correct, but that is something I have to look into. With that said, that has to start with the kids. BUT I DON"T KNOW.
I did ask around today and understand that there was some rumble from parents and boosters about Henly.
My first impression is..........Some like him, but most don't. The recurring theme was that the kids don't respect him and won't play for him. And if you know me as much as I bitch about "Coach P Shottenheimer" the kids really do respect him.(I like Mark too personally no matter people say about me)
But when you lose talent whom are basically saying they won't play for a certain so and so then you have a problem and obviously the program is in trouble. The W's and L's will speak to that issue eventually.

Hey Clone...All i was saying in the last paragraph was the fact that the better your all around talent is, the better a coach looks and sounds...right or wrong? How about i give you some examples, lets see...ahhh...Pete Carroll: two time head coach in the NFL, fired both times! So are we to believe that Pete took a job at USC and then became a genius? ....how about, here we go (a little trip down memory lane) John McKay a multiple nation championship winner at USC. Then he takes a job win the Bucs and of course has maybe the worst team in NFL history. Did he forget how to coach from his time at USC to his time with the BUCS? And of course Mckay did not forget how to coach and Carroll dd not become a genius. In both cases when either coach had better talent they won. There are countless other examples
In football/basketball a great coach well get you 2-3 extra (guaranteed) wins. In baseball maybe 6?!

DONS beat Oaks Christian.... The Sierra Vista Boys soocer team went on the road and beat the number 4 seeded team in Div. V, 1-0. Way to go and represent the SGV guys!

Living Legend,
Great post! I agree with everything you said up until the last paragraph.
But if you have four or five kids skip their varsity baseball years and pick it up again at the JC level and make the ball club at that perspective JC then your high schooll program is in trouble. I understand this has been going on for awhile with this one particular coach at "bagpiper u". So I'm assuming there is a legitimate cause for concern. But I'd have to ask around some more and see what the story really is.
Oh well just a thought.
Out!

I know this thread is not for this exact comment...but people need to know
you know what is funny... when a coach is demanding and tough on his players then automatically he/she is an idiot or some other aweful word. Maybe the problem does not lie within the coach..Just maybe we have (excuse me for the language) "pussified" the youth of this world so much that when a person challenges them in the slightist way many (NOT ALL) cannot handle the pressure....And it is not even the youths fault, it starts at home with the parents....Hey button wearing Team Mom and Dad this is not little league and your child does not deserve to play, he/she earns the right to play....just because he/she was an allstar at the local little league does not mean that your boy/girl is guarantee that they will get playing time on the high school level, it does not even guarantee that they make the team.
Great players make great coachs...it is not the other way around..so to the schools and parents who think their coaches suck...it might not be that your coach sucks, maybe it is the overall talent level of the players that is not up to par.

hey randy and mike speaking of baseball don't expect much from Glendora because henly has single handly f-uped up that team. iknow guys that like baseball wont play for him and wont go outbecause of his attitude and the way he treats his players. most of us just play in the summer because we like the game but not the bs from henly he's a idiot i know so good players that wont play for him.

Randy,
Talking to some of the kids I got the impression my "bagpipers" were on borrowed time only because they weren't healthy. Coach did what he could with what he had I can't gripe about that and you know me I'm good at griping
I had a good chuckle at your last sentence too.

Didn't see that you were the first this morning Mike, I will add your guys had me thinking they were gonna pull a huge turn around and make a run in the playoffs.
I hope San Dimas kicks ass.....
Posted by: randy | February 17, 2007 9:41 AM
Damien has lost again in the playoffs just like always they do. They do well in the season and then fall face first in the playoffs. Its too bad.

OK, I'll go first.....
I can't believe after all that smack talk there is NO ONE left????.....W-T-F?....My boys got whacked a day earlier, so i've had time to come to. Chino Hills survives, who are by no means an SGV team, and San Who? You gotta shittin' me Pyle! I know several will advance who play west of the 605, but for us.....well-thats it? WOW!!!!!
At this point in the season you either put up or shut up. Dont matter if you were an At-large who snuck in, or the top dawg in your league. I'm very surprised some of the upper teams got dismissed so early.
I was just funnin' when I said Damien would get booted before their football team did. Looks like that crack was much closer to reality than those boys thought.
Still got plenty of girls teams going at it today...but unless you got a girl playing its hard to say it the "same".
I can hear the crack of the bat now....i can hear the pop of the catchers mitt too. Spring is in the air,....let us take our attn to the diamond.
We still have one more big sport to cram each other with before the shit really hits the fan this summer.........GAME ON!!!!!!!!!!
