A determined group of girls, and maybe a little luck of the Irish helped Sacred Heart Cathedral pull out the overtime victory over Bishop Amat, to claim their third state girls title. Bishop Amat head coach Richard Wiard may lose some sleep tonight thinking about the last sequence of regulation. With his team up three points, and 10 seconds to play, Bishop Amat could have opted to foul in the back court, and put Sacred Heart on the line down three. Instead, a foul was committed on Tierra Rogers' drive to the lane, even though Bishop Amat was up by three, and Sacred Heart could not have stopped the clock after their 2-point bucket. Tough one to swallow for Bishop Amat, but for Sacred Heart, a gritty performance.
Other than this loss, it's been a great run for the Lady Lancers!
