Day 1 of JB = BJ (big joke)!

In case you missed it, CBS anchor James Brown will call the entire tournament this year. He started by validating this terrible decision when he called Aaron Afflalo "Mr. Afflalo." OK, that's barely fine even sarcastically. But then he called UCLA bench warmer Michael Roll "Mr. Roll." We know JB doesn't know the names and we know the only college hoop he's probably seen this year was on the east coast. But please stop calling college kids "Mr."
I'm particulary upset by the pro-JB decision by CBS because it means that Gus Johnson will only call the first two rounds. In case you don't know, Gus Johnson makes the games exciting and any game he calls almost always turns into a great, tight game. I know it's just coincidence, but still. Gus Johnson adds something. JB makes me think I'm about to see Peyton Manning start warming up. No good.
Gus Johnson, good. James Brown, bad.

I totally agree with you Aram.
Gus is good but being loud and excitable doesn't equate with quality...this is a problem in baseball and the reason why we see the style of Gus Johnson more prevelant today than the style of Vin Scully.

I just love how into the games that Gus Johnson gets. It reminds me of me. "Aram, gets out of his carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, he did it!!!!!!!!!!! What an exit!!!!"
Uh anyway, Gus called the Xavier/BYU game yesterday and I got some of my fill there. But I need more. He should be on for two more rounds. Jim Nantz, Verne Lundquist and Gussy J. are ones I like to hear most. JB calling college players "Mr." doesn't get it done for me.

Valid point about JB, Mr Tolegian!
He's not as versatile as Musburger,Nance,Enberg, Michaels and heck even Vin Scully back in the day when Vin was doing multiple sports.
JB is a NFL guy and that's it. He really is at his best doing the NFL stuff.

Now i understand that you should know the names of the people in the games...but to call Micheal Roll a bench warmer is a strech. Aram, he is the first or second guy of the bench...bench warmer entails that he is one of the guys who never takes off his warm-ups
