Dodgers parking has been raised to $15!!!!

Dodger Stadium: The only place on Earth where you pay more to park, than get in.

Let me get this straight, no free agent slugger, Billingsley doesn't make the rotation, Pierre bats second and now I have to pay more to park than to get in the game?

Quick Aram thought: I guess I was the last one to know about this. I found out Saturday afternoon and called everyone I knew. Dodgers parking has gone from $10 to $15. Very nice, McCourt. It used to be that baseball was the best bang for your buck in terms of pro sports entertainment. Now this!!! It would take a little bit of the sting off if the Dodgers actually signed a free-agent slugger. But no, we got Juan Pierre, who was subsequently moved to the two hole. This season is starting off real bad.

Very angrily, I called my inner circle to vent, let's go around the horn for their responses ...

Girlfriend Elizabeth: "Just park in Korea Town and take the bus. (not gonna happen)
James Shabumi: "That's why I'm not a Dodgers fan anymore. I'll root for the Angels and Arte Moreno. (not an option)
GMac (who was in Vegas, and probably didn't have all his faculties): "I don't mind it, they kept all their kids. (this is true, kemp, ethier and loney for $15 parking.)
Former columnist Keven Chavez: Inaudible after USC loss in Sweet 16, But I think he was sour, but not as much as I would've liked. I think he also pointed out that there were new routes in and out of the lot. (big deal, and he'll feel it when we go together.)

Whittier is considered both a San Gabriel Valley city and part of the Gateway Cities region. Some of Whittier sits below the Whittier Narrows. Although these hills are considered extremely small compared to the San Gabriel Mountains, the fact that most of the city sits around them is said to make Whittier a San Gabriel Valley city, despite its area code (most of Whittier is served by the 562 area code, though a large portion is served by the 626 area code. This is similar to Montebello, which is situated in the 323 area code despite being part of the San Gabriel Valley.
San Dimas, Claremont, Pomona, Diamond Bar, and La Verne are adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley, but are properly considered part of the Pomona Valley. The 57 Freeway (Orange Freeway) is generally considered the dividing line between the Pomona and San Gabriel Valley. However, for statistical and economic development purposes, the County of Los Angeles generally includes these five cities as part of the San Gabriel Valley.

Right...that explains the All Wrestling Team. The coverage about boys basketball. The great game analysis and such. If you spent a little less time with the girls soccer team at Walnut (looking for your next intern/girlfriend) and the girls basketball team at Amat than maybe you wouldn't compare Mater Dei (Santa Ana-Orange County) to Upland. Maybe you might see how Damien's Matt Dunn, Griffin and Hacker were all involved. Explain that. Sorry for calling you Lazy..that was uncalled for. Maybe underpaid is what I meant. One last thing "local" doesn't mean exclusive. Remember the All Valley list and the Daily Bulletin list...crossover...remember the concept? may the girlfrind comment wa out of bounds as well...but I do seem to know alot about her don't I? uuuuuuummmmmmm why's that?

Aram said:

Big Willie Style,

I'm not sure if you can read, but if you can, the player you're talking about plays for a team outside of the Tribune coverage zone. It's the same reason there are no Mater Dei players on the Tribune All-Star team. Upland is covered by the Daily Bulletin. The Tribune is a "local" paper and Upland isn't "local."

Big Willie Style said:

Joe you're right I meant the Star News. As far as the best....you're wrong. Willie Trimble is the best player in a long long time. Get a copy of the game. Funny thing about lazy Aram but if you knew anything about the game Matt Dunn was the Head Coach of the "local" team and Hacker and Griffin also from Damien were in the game as well. How did that happen? By the way first time I ever seen Nick Turner from Chino Hills and he was a STUD! That just makes what Griffin did for Damien all year all the more remarkable. By the way Griffin was pretty good out there with all those All Stars. Dude can just make baskets. Heard he's going to play up North in Washington. Good luck Griffin....MAKE IT RAIN!!!!

Trimble in the Tribune All Star Team...or Aram is just plain missing the boat.

Last point Jon Joe was outstanding! Class act. During the introductions he waited for each and every player at mid court. And was the only player to do so. Won the Sportman Award and was as much fun to watch as any player I've ever seen. He packed Nick Turner something aweful and then smiled and laughed with Nick all the way down court. What a class act. Anyone know where is going next year. Could easily see him in the Pac 10...he's that special. Kids like Jon Joe are what's good about high school sports and how "superstars" can/should conduct themselves. The last time I saw him I just shook his hand and told him what an honor it was to see him play. he smiled and told me. "Thank you sir." My son thinks the world of Jon Joe and his mind flashes with possibilities when he sees Big Willie throw it down. 3's , dunks, passes, steals, rebounds..this guy is sick! Get a copy of the Upland/King game when they came at him in two's and three's...and King was loaded! Great team player and unreal individual showman!

I think Aram has SGV myopia. Just like Bishop Amat has SGV myopia. Look at the All Valley football team...Rosemead? Aram maybe you can tell everyone why Willie Trimble was off your radar. Is there a better player in the last four years that you've seen?

Joe Amat said:

Willie Trimble can really play and is a very good player , but..."hands down" the best ...not so sure.

But here's a couple news items...Upland is not on the Tribs coverage area, they are covered by the Daily Bulletin. That's why Willie was in the Inland Valley game. Aram had no reason to cover Upland outside of their participation in the San Dimas Tournamnet, yet even there they only played Diamond Ranch from the SGV. Secondly, there is no Trib/Daily News all star game it is against the Star News from the West SGV. The Daily News covers the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.

Upland's Willie Trimble said:

The fact that you don't know about Willie Trimble from Upland high school is a travesty. Mostly by Aram. Sorry Big Guy but you blew it not telling "US" about what could be the best player to come out of this area in a long long time!

For those that haven't seen or heard of him....YOU MISSED OUT!!!

Best high school athlete I've ever seen on a basketball court...HANDS DOWN!

Maybe he'll be added to the Tribune -Daily News ALL STAR game....what a phemon!

I'll tell you what bugs me, it's this whole notion that the previous parking system and routes in and out of the lot were so bad. Believe me, I had no problem sitting there for 45 minutes while listening to the postgame show. That's what every fan should be doing. And, I didn't mind listening to the pre-game show.

"It's time for Dodger baseball!"

When Vin and Tommy are gone so will everthing that made Dodgers true blue in the hearts and minds of ALL Angelenos!

Too bad I loved those guys but after what the Dodger management did to Ross Porter, Jerry Dodgett and Stu Nahan they can kiss my fundio! They were not even told in person that they were no longer needed by the Dodgers. Stu found out when he showed up to work at the start of the season, Jerry did not even get that courtesy and Ross, well he never knew what hit him. Wonder how they'll tell Vinny. That's disgusting!

No O'Malley I can deal with that but no Lasorda and well I'm history. As far as the cholos and the riff raff at Dodger Stadium, it ain't racial anymore than that little dog from Taco Bell was Mexican. Lowlifes are lowlifes and there are more of them recently..the Raider kind! Barf!

Before Dodger Stadium was where people of ALL ethnicities put all their economics and racial differences aside and celebrated our mutual love for Big BLUE! Remembver Rick Monday's blast to deep center? Fernandomania? I miss them like I miss my first love but I still never got used to seeing her homeboys from Sangria hanging around...and she was fine! lol

Long live Arte Moreno...and all the former Dodgers it takes to win another Championship..by the way anyone seen Lupe lately...I did at a Charter Oak game and 30 years later she's still fine. Maybe I blew that one...oh okay...GO BIG BLUE!!!!!! Distant Lover style!!!! I'm out!

There might be a few bad apples that ruin it for true Dodger fans, but I'd rather be around them at the Ravine as opposed to a bunch of Angel fans (and I used the term "fans" loosely) who would rather talk about the stock market than watch good baseball. And BTW, you'll never see the Dodger fans sink so low to pledge allegances to a stupid monkey.

Big Willie Trimble FAN! said:

Blu and MAT, I find it difficult to understand why you would look down on the so called Amat haters and yet sink to their level? Calling out the parents the way you did was uncalled for and unprovoked.

You're both right most parents sacrifice to place their kids in a safe environment and yet hear all the jokes at work. "why pay all that money when all that happens is some priest is going to blah blah blah!" " Catholic school girls are easy!" "All Catholic school kids are rich, spoiled and living in a fantasy world!" "Instead of paying to go to public school just move to a better neighborhood!" and the famous..."You're wasting your money..if they're going to be bad they'l;l be bad anywhere!"

Too bad the only side I've heard from the Amat boasters are the negative masquerading as pride. Instead I'd like to hear about the pride and appreciation you have for your school, coaches and teachers. Tell us all it was worth it..better yet show it by the way you conduct yourselves and acknowledge others contributions to the San Gabriel Valley.

Here's a tip. The greatest athlete in the Valley is Willie Trimble. Hands down no one even comes close. Next time he's in a All Star Game...pay the price of admission and bring your kids. great fundamentals, out of this world athlete, composure and the ultimate showman. I've never ever in my life asked anyone for an autograph( and I've meet Dickerson, Barkley, Magic, ect.) but after the "show" he put on at the All Star Game at Cal Poly on Saturday I told my son, "He's worth it!"

Incredible, incredible , incredible. 5'9" and he dunked backwards on an alley opp, threw an alley opp "pass" from 3/4 of the court with his left hand off the dribble for a slam dunk by Simon, hit like 5 three's with pressure and just brought the house down time and again!!!! What a great showman. And what an honor to see him play! And to top it off, his fundamentals are perfect. That's what this blog should have been. About the greatest high school basketball player I've ever seen in person. Catch him before some college scoops him up.

Thanks Big Willie you made me and my sons enjoy a night together....we will NEVER forget.

For you Cholo Bait,

First off read the last sentence. I said CERTAIN haters of Amat not all....Meaning I am not knocking La Puente or any other neighboring city for that matter. What I am stating is clear and factual by the proof of the writers who echoed what I wrote. Growing up poor but having your parents sacrafice for the better of your education helps built for the future education of generations for your family down the line, when you are here, and when you leave this earth. Knowing you built that foundation or continued it from your parents is what I am talking about. Discipline from having less during the present to having more in the future is what I am talking about. Growing up poor and having my parents have less just to send me to Catholic School helped me tremendously. Now it is my turn and I am giving it to my children who in turn will give it to their children...People can talk all they want and Bash Amat but those are the ignorant ones who live for today and not tomorrow...so keep flashing that gold and driving that Hummer while your kid gets that public school education....sorry but I choose to take less now and have my kids have more later in life...Peace.

I hear you man. There is much truth to what you said. My family and I also did without a lot of things in Baldwin Park that many of my public school friends had. Most of the Lancers come from families that are indeed making sacrifices for the future.

WHY IS AMAT IN THIS DODGER'S THREAD???? I'll tell ya...

Inner City Blues stated,

"Hey anonymous...been to a Bishop Amat football game lately?

Could be ANY inner city public school. The most poorly behaved student section I have ever seen. Easily the most foul mouthed Catholic school I've ever heard. Don't believe me . Next time you go to Qwiffer Satdium hangout near the end zone and you'll see. Welcome to Belmont Catholic High School....."

This comment is the reason why there is talk of Amat in this Dodger's thread. I actually thought it was funny and well written though it bordered on being racist. But remember...it only takes one dumb beaver to break a dam. If you're sick and tired about reading about Amat....Leave Amat and her fans alone....please.

Here's what I think of La Puente - I can't afford to live there either. I saw in the Times real estate section some nothing special homes in LP selling for about $500,000. Thanks for coming.

LP Lancer said:

I along with many of my La Puentian Lancers know what MATMT is saying. I never had much growing up and seeing my friends from the little league have nicer cars and better clothes and the newest video games always made me jealous and resent my parents a little. Until I made it to college and I went back to the park and saw those same friends from my little league days with kids of their own telling me how hard it is raising a kid at eighteen. Then they tell me how lucky i was and they hope that they could send their kid to the local catholic school and then to Amat. For me to hear that gave me a greater appreciation for my parents and their sacrifice. I'm a true blue La Puentian and a true blue Lancer. You can be both and not have to put down either.

lpheat22,

It usually helps to follow the thread and read it from bottom to top. More often than not, the blog first turns into an amat topic by people outside of amat.

This time Someone said, "Hey anonymous...been to a Bishop Amat football game lately?...Could be ANY inner city public school...."
then
"...I always wondered how that Golden "A" baseball cap would look in gangsta black!!!!..."

Then, of course, there are going to be responses and exchanges. That is the purpose of the blog.

MATMTWTBAG said:

Well we know at Bishop Amat that the neighboring Public schools bash us out of complete jealousy. Some can afford it that live in the area and some cannot. the cannots are the bitter ones. You know who you are and you always wished and dreamed of your kid attending our school. Most of you need to make sacrafices in life and put out the jack to send your kids there, meaning cut backs in your own personal luxuries..stop driving those Cadillac SUV's with the spinning rims and BMW'S and drive a Honda or something more economical, your image is not as important as your kids education..also stop drinking 12 pak after 12 pak of top notch Corona beer on the weekends and switch over to a lesser brand. Stop buying those high priced tennis shoes and authentic Raiders Jerseys, I mean come on Dad grow up and put your kids first. Cut backs in certain areas and your kid can attend Amat. We will also throw in a Golden A for the back windshield of your Honda.....The above describes the certain haters of Amat that come in here...I did say certain not all.......

Amat has always been labeled the ghetto by manythe surrounding communities with the sticks up their rear and the overprivilege teams in our league. Bishop Amat is servicing the neighboring school parishes with a quality Catholic education. The same people that want bring down the students and the school are the same ones who go to rival schools and other area schools. Thats why whatever is written on this website isn't credible and is taken with a grain of salt. If you want to slander the school and the people in it, that's your business but not everything written on the internet is protected by free speech.

If parking were free I still would not go that craphole, they desecrated a landmark, heaven on earth is what it used to be. Aram I know you love the dodgers and I feel bad that you have to go through all of the other stuff to support your team. And last thought Arte Moreno is the best thing that ever happened to proffesional sports. Problem with Dodger stadium is that the Raider Fans who can not afford a plane ticket or gas money to Oakland make their way down to The Big Blue piece of heaven on earth. What used to be the best place to enjoy a game became "Raider Nation" meets Dodger Blue. What used to be the coming together of ALL races and ethnicities has become the coming out parties of little gang bangers and 30 something tattooed drunks.

Where the hell is the O'Malley family. They were first class even if they lied and cheated their way to that land. (no politics...sorry) And when Tommy Lasorda goes to that big blue heaven in the sky the Dodger mystique will die with him. It was a sad day when I gave up my Dodger blue for Angel Red but hey my family deserves better than an out of county homeboy and his vatos yelling vulgarities at the players and visiting fans.

What happned to the good old days when a Giants fan mingled with the Blues and we all got along...win or lose. Yeah we gave him grief and they gave us grief depending on the ebb and flow of the game but in the end it was "See you next time!" fun. That's what's missing from Dodger stadium...FUN and FAMILY!!
