TRAGEDY ...

Bonita HS football player Kevin Normington was killed late last night in a traffic accident on Arrow Highway while driving home from his job at Warehouse Pizza near ULV. Kevin was a three-year starter on Bonita's offensive line and a team captain.

"It's a pretty sad day around here," Bonita coach Eric Podley said. "I've been here 28 years and have never seen a campus go as quiet as is it did today. He was the kind of kid you want to bring back and have coach. The kids looked up to him. He was just a really good kid."

I'm sure I speak for the entire Valley prep sports community in saying our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to the Normington family and the Bearcats family.

I briefly knew the Normington family and remember Kevin as a small child, he was a great little guy. God bless. Your family is in my prayer's and thoughts. I drove by the site and had no idea until Friday that it was him who passed.

"Do not cry for me, as I am not gone forever, you see, god has a plan for us to be together again for eternity"

This was a difficult day. I am sure Kevin is smiling down upon us grateful for everything that was done today to comfort his friends and family. I feel blessed to be fortunate to live in a community filled with so much compasion. Bonita parents, students, players, high school administrators, teachers, coaches, and business owners stepped up today to celibrate Kevin's life. I was also impressed with players I observed from other schools who cared enough to attend the church service. Our future is in good hands with the young people I observed today. Godspeed Kevin.

Hello,
Today I will be attending K-Norm's Church Service and the Post-burial reception at Bonita HS Gym. I will have my camera with me and I am hoping that family, friends & teammates of Kevin will talk to us and share their favorite stories of #55. I am doing this for Kevin's Family and will be giving them a DVD with a collection of all of the kind words you have to say. Time Warner is also letting me produce a news segment honoring Kevin and his life. God Bless.

Kevin was the basketball coach of my 9yr old son. He was great with the kids, played with them at their level. My son loved going to practice. Kevin was going to have their end of the season pizza party at his work this Saturday... my son will miss him. Thank you Kevin for your time spent with my son. This hit too close to home. My prayers go out to his family & friends. God Bless you Kevin.

While I didn't know Kevin well, I remember him from youth sports when our son was younger. I recall a kind, quiet kid who could have exploited his size but chose to let his skills speak for themselves. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Normington family. May you truly find peace and comfort in light of this, and lean on your community to help with anything you may need. Just ask.
A fellow Bonita parent.

I only had the honor of seeing Kevin in action a few times. That is all I needed to see in order to know what a wonderful young man he was. Kevin helped Coach my nephew's basketball team this year and did a wonderful job with those young boys. This tragedy has touched many in the community and our thoughts and prayers go out to the Normington family, the Bearcat family and all who Kevin has touched.

"Superman...rest in peace"

Its times like these that we must all remember to hug our kids, tell them everyday how much we love them, love your nieghbor and be true to your maker - The Lord Jesus Christ! He can be the only one now to embrace Kevin and give comfort and love to the Normington Family

Hi Aram

I was driving east on Arrow Hwy tonight and saw the site of the accident.

Couldn't miss it as there was a candle visual set up with kids around it!

Pretty touching to see.

Maybe the Tribune would go by a film it or do a segment on this young man life!

Iam sure the family would appreciate it!

LIFE..so fragile. LOSS..so sudden. HEART..so broken.

On behalf of the Charter Oak Family our deepest sympathy to the Normington Family and the entire Bonita football program. The La Verne community like ours is very close and connected and our thoughts and prayers is with each of you during this very painful time. We too respect Kevin for the kind of young man he represented and means to so many people. Next year we will say an extra prayer for him and his family honoring his life and the impact and difference he made in so many lives. Again, we are so sorry for you loss and may his spirit live forever in everyone...

I had tremendous respect for Kevin and remember big #55 for the past 3 seasons. I am so sorry to hear about this. My heart goes out to the Normington Family, our La Verne Community, Bonita HS and Coach Podley and staff. Rest in Peace Kevin. You will be missed, brother.

Our love and Prayers are with all who are touched by this tragedy. Stay strong in your faith.

I will try to get that soon. There's more to the story, from what I understand. There's unconfirmed reports that his car was struck by someone DUI. But that's not been confirmed yet. This is just terrible.

Aram

If posssible, maybe you can posted funeral plans.

Every family, every athlete, no matter what school should support and attend this funeral.

This is a time when all SGV members should come together!
