Youre so right. Im there with you. Your weblog is definitely worth a read if anybody comes throughout it. Im lucky I did because now Ive obtained a whole new view of this. I didnt realise that this issue was so important and so universal. You certainly put it in perspective for me.

Sick! Just acquired a brand-new Pearl and I can now read your blog on my phone’s browser, it didn’t function on my aged one.

I must say, as significantly as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a excellent grasp to the subject matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from far more than one angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so considerably. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the subject. Think about adjusting your personal thought process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.

True story...I was talking to my son's wrestling coach at this weekend's tournamnet and he asked if my 13 y.o. would consider wrestling. I said where do I take him. He walks over talks to another coach, from another school, that trains kids and tells me to show up at such and such ...at no cost.

That's what makes wrestlers different. It's about the sport of "wrestling" and sportsmanship.

As far as football...well that goes without saying wrestling makes kids tough, teaches them balance and leverage and makes them conditioned athletes with real strenght and stamina.

Antiamat said:

While I don't follow wrestling at all I due have a great deal of respect for wrestlers. Personally, I think anyone who plays on the O or D lines or are linebackers should consider taking up wrestling. Skills learned in wrestling like how to leverage your size can come in handy.

Hector Garcia said:

For many years wrestling has always been a sport that got very little attention. By far the most condition athletes out there. it's nice to finally see that these kids get the recognition they deserve. Not knocking any sport out there.
How many people can go days cutting weight jump on a scale weigh in and two hours later wrestle 6 minutes. Boxers even have a few days to recover before fighting. Congratulations to all wrestlers we know how hard it is. Thank u SGV tribune

wrestlingfan said:

Anybody that rips wrestling either doesn't wrestle, doesn't know someone who wrestles, doesn't coach or doesn't fully understand the sport. No sport has a higher percentage of DISCIPLINED kids. They work so hard at their craft, that is translates into their life. You rarely hear of a wrestler not making grades like the brain surgeons in basketball and football. You rarely hear of a wrestler having trouble with the law or being classified as a thug. IE: Mike McDonough. You rarely hear of a wrestler quitting because even when it isn't our year, we can't ever let our teammates down. People talk about "family," but this really is a sport where we're a family. Take this area: Stephens, Ochoa, Bellamy, Pierre, Froh, Taylor...they all respect each other and have a friendly rivalry unlike top coaches of other sports that hate each other. The discipline is a thing of beauty. Talk to any of us. We're the most approachable and yet vulnerable athletes because we wear our hearts on our sleaves in front of everyone. I wouldn't begin to rip what it takes to be a great football, baseball or basketball player, but at least give us enough respect to not talk about that sport on here. You have all year to talk about those other sports. I encourage all wrestlers to let others know we are serious about this.

Aram maybe that's the reason more Dad's don't put their kids in wrestling....tough to second guess the coach when your kid gets pinned or out worked on the mat. No hiding, no BS. Just two kids giving it their best.

I love wrestleing because when the match is over both wrestlers shake each other's coaches hand. That a class move. Secondly...wining or losing is determined "on the mat".

Also when a ref calls a pin..and the wrestler disagrees...they usually ask the ref for clarification and say thanks...because in wrestling.."you never stop learning."

Maybe if every dad put their kid in wrestling for 1 season their perspective and thoughts about their kids will and ability would change. Competitors and quitters are exposed for better or worst. Tough to play favorites in wrestling.

Getting pinned is tough but then that's what wrestlers are...TOUGH! And yes Aram there are some fantastic wrestling coaches and programs in the area.

Aram said:

Amen! We need more posts like that about coaches who make a difference. Not everybody knows and they deserve some recognition, Good for Coach Lucero. There are a lot of great wrestling minds in this area.

Wrestler's Dad said:

I just wanted to say something about a great coach. Sometimes in the heat of the moment parents slam the coaches and players because of playing time and hurt feelings but today I want to share my thoughts about Coach Frank Lucero.

Today my son Zachary participated in the Carter High School Wrestling Freestyle Tournament. Zachary was the ONLY Damien wrestler who showed up for the tournament probably due to Easter vacation. But when Coach Lucero found out it was only Zachary he told him he would stay until he finished out. ONE WRESTLER!! We were not surprised. Coach Lucero is a quality guy.

My son competed at the Varsity level for the first time after finishing 1st @ 189 two weeks ago at Santa Ana HS's Tournament. Zachary wrestled well, listened to Coach Lucero and missed out on a top 3 finish by 1 point! He punished every wrestler he faced. He said he learned alot and had fun wrestling guys as strong as him. He's worked his body from a 198 lb football player to 183 lb wrestler competing at 189. He will be a beast at 171 come next season. Zachary's only wrestled for 4 months and already he's competing against the best and holding his own. Coach Lucero took a big, strong kid with doubts about himself, after his football experiences at Damien, and is turning him into a force and maybe a Champion someday. That's Zachary's goal and with time and practice I believe anything is possible when you're willing to work hard and prepare.

That's what great coaches do. They bring out the best in kids, make them commit and sacrifice and compete beyond their self imposed limitations. But more than that Coach Lucero has helped my son in ways I can never repay him. He's helping Zachary become his own man. He may look gentle but the heart of champion is taking shape. It's remarkable how well he's adjusted to this very demanding sport of speed, strenght, technique and toughness. I always thought he'd make a great linebacker because of those skills but wrestling allows him the freedom to push himself without having to look over his shoulder and worrying about playing time. Besides Zach tells me he should be ready to play football his senior year....but I seriously doubt it considering his recent performances in wrestling. Well ..one door closes and another opens.

Coach Lucero is a mentor, friend and task master to all the wrestlers at Damien. I think there are a lot of great coaches out there who make tremendous sacrifices of their time and energies...maybe we can hear more about those coaches from other parents and students. That might be a welcomed change of pace.

Thanks Coach Lucero...you're a class act.

ELA BOY...Salesian won CIF in soccer, lost to eventual CIF champ in football in the second round this year with less than 100 graduating seniors. Salesian still provides an outstanding education and competitive sports environment for all students to grow and develop.

As always Salesian still places over 90% of it's students in four year schools while providing parents with an all around mentoring program that pays dividends long after graduation. It's one of the reasons, much like Damien, that Alumni continue to come back and contribute time, money and staffing. One of the best facets of Salesian is it's sense of Family. Anyone who has spent time at the school will forever be a Mustang. Even friends of Salesian Alumni gravitate to the school and "adopt" it as their own ---evidenced by the success of our Annual Alumni Fundraisers.

Salesian is a shining example, much like Verbum Dei, that serving a community is it's own reward. This year, when the graduation rates and schools are announced, I will give everyone an update to which Ivy League schools will grace their campuses with Mustangs. I do however find it ironic that "we" never thought "we" were anything but gracious in our good fortune, appreciative of our parents sacrifice and respectful of the public schools our friends attended.

Before I moved out here that's what I thought Bishop Amat was to tell you the truth..until I read this blog. Salesian rarely, if ever, played "local" public schools but has recently to stimulate enrollment. We used to play LB Poly, Blair, Pasadena, Banning and Carson when they were City Powerhouses..isn't that incredible? lol but never Huntington Park, Roosevelt or Garfield because Salesian had an agenda..Play the best! Maybe Bishop Amat is alot like Salesian in that regard, serving La Puente and offering parents a place for their children to excel in the classroom and on the field...they just don't come across that way on this blog. And that's a shame. No offense intended but we might have had a chip on our shoulder but it was only on the field and it was NEVER putting area schools down. We knew our parents were doing everything to keep us at Salesian...my dad was PTA President for many many years and ran the best Taco Booth every Carnival. He's an honarary Mustang and still wears his Salesian Booster President jacket with pride and is the original and "only" Mr. Corona I know. That's what everyone calls him to this day. He's a great man and a community fixture. Many former players and students still call my Dad, to this day,to ask for advice and to attend their family functions. At Salesian..everyone is family. I know former Salesian great Witherspoon is an outstanding Bishop Amat coach. Every Lancer gets the Salesian treatment ...love your school, love your team mates and bust your ass!

Thanks for bring up Salesian. Best of luck with your kids...my boy's going to USC on a full ride. I guess the USC - Salesian connection made a stop at Damien. My mijo's a Trojan!!!! Imagine that!

As far as Cantwell...they cheat! lol Some wounds never heal...I never left the field beating them...but my brother did! lol

What happened to Salesian ? I grew up in ELA in the 70's & 80's & lived close to Cantwell. Growing up all u heard about was Salesian & St. Paul as powerhouses. Why did everyone stop going to these schools ? Amats downfall seems to be the population growth in Chino, Chino Hills & Moreno Valley. New schools that have been built in those areas, parents have more choices of schools to send their kids for free !

Wait playing Notre Dame, Loyola, Crespi, SJB, St Francis in one season..wait didn't Salesian do that in the 70's with no money and a student body of less than 425? Bishop Amat that one's been done before. I admire Bishop Amat wanting to play the big boys even as they struggle to get back on top. Salesian used to do it when all those schools sent Division I players across the country like it was General Motors. It was fun playing the best. It creates the heart of a Champion win or lose and makes you appreciate competing for the love of the game. Win or lose Bishop Amat has my respect....now if you could actually say that Salesian's run was impressive than maybe I'd find it in my heart to believe you get "it".

Imagine Bosco Tech playing Orange Lutheran, Santa Margarita, Mater Dei, Bishop Amat, and Norco for ten years straight...pretty impressive don't you think? All this scheduling drama is funny. Best of luck to Bishop Amat...the real test is not wins and loses but All League players...Salesian's record is 19 All Leaguers in one football season (1972)...top that!

I'd love to see Damien play Mater Dei, Bishop Amat, Notre Dame and La Salle every year. That would be fun and Damien could maybe win a Championship again. Best of luck to the Spartans in 2007. Greatness awaits you... Any takers?

MATMTWTBAG said:

Anti,

Why is it that you know so much about Amat?..then you claim to be from the OC....not too many OC people come on here....what school is it that you represent?...Do you go with who has the best record in the Trinity then come on here and compare them to Amat.? What is your story?....Sounds like you are on the Oluth wagon right now but does that mean if Servite or Mater Dei beats them you will switch over???....I know you are Anti-Amat but you do not give your reason. Sorry if we have that tradition and will never lose it even tho we have struggled for the past 2 seasons...we at Amat still believe and stand by our team thru wins and losses....thats loyalty but to you Anti your loyalty sound like it fluxuates...but there are fans like you and I accept that....I guess your closet has a Angels and a Dodgers jersey in it and a Ducks and Kings and a Lakers and Clippers....

Anti Amat said:

Dude....

I can't figure out if your blind loyalty is admirable or insane. You and some of your other cohorts are so delusional that you can't accept reality. I say it again....3 and 7 and some of the games will be blowouts.

You've got a few months to come up with excuses.

MATMTWTBAG said:

Anti,

Pressure is on your team being the champs and all. Bullseye is all over your team...We having everything to gain and nothing to lose....Oluth is the top dog but Amat will come strong remember that. A win for Amat is not that far fetched....Look Out because we are comming for you....Stop thinking the Trinty this year is the trinity of last year........it is a whole new season.......be careful what you ask for this Amat team is coming to play this year.

Anti Amat said:

Mr. Delusional.....

Why do we need schedule those teams you mention? Our league(Trinity) schedule is the toughest in California? The Serra as powerful as the Trinity? I don't think so. Notre Dame are Crespi are the cream of the crop, the rest of you are also rans...especially Amat. Those teams don't match up with MD, OLu, Servite and Santa Margarita.

You really think you'll stay with OLu? Sure they've lost Corp, Readorn and Pettis but they will reload as usual. When Blackmore left everyone said they were doomed, then Corp stepped up. Believe me, they won't miss a step next year.

Better start working on your excuses now.

MATMTWTBAG said:

Laffin and your crazy....Corp is gone remember..I am sure you still have a team but your team is just not going to show up and roll people.......Amat will make them work for it...we do not roll over to no one......sure our season last year was awful I agree and was every game but we never laid down...Oluth is a great program but they will not dominate like last year......

laffin' like crazy said:

Are you crazy????????? Did you go to any of YOUR varsity games last year? I DID, you dont have the lineman to throw down with the best, PERIOD, end of story. THEY ARE ON THE UPSIDE OF AN INCREDIBLE ROLL RIGHT NOW! Your team isn't on the same level anymore. By all rights they should have your hearts smashed and teeth knocked out by halftime. It should by a 20-30 point loss, IF they pull their studs early.

Go sell crazy somewhere else M*^&GDIUBAG, cause we're all stocked up over here, we don't need any extra from LP. Thanks, but no thanks! Bosco Tech will be head hunting for your fannys in the very near future, thats my guess. Hasta 'brother'!

MATMTWTBAG said:

Laffin,

Ease up pal, In no way shape or form will OLuth. blow us out. It will be a good game and makes no differance when in the season you play the game. We have a solid returning team and not to take anything away from Oluth. but they lost allot of core players but their roster is so huge and they do have lots of underclassmen coming back such as Amat.......good game no doubt but to say they blow us out NO WAY!.......dont be too suprised if Amat beats them....the battle of the Lancers I cannot wait....

laffin' at you said:

you both sound like doornobs...Amat scheduled an ass whippin' against O Lu cuz they feel the heat, they know the talk is out there about dropping them to D3. That drop wouldn't be that bad for them, it's still respectable, come on now, its not the Southwest Div. They know the only chance they have against a big time Pac5 team is early---very early when their opponent may not be firing on all cylinders.

The proof is in the pudding, and we shall see what a farce they field in Aug. I like the balls, but when they get blown up and bowled over, the fallout will be ugly.

Wise up dinosaurs, that Mission League is going to start to look a whole better when you do not qualify for the playoffs AGAIN this year.

MATMTWTBAG said:

Anti-Amat get your head out you make no sense. "come on down to the Trinity"..we are, you idiot, we scheduled Orange Lutheran. The Serra is just as powerful as the Trinity...whats your schedule?...Go schedule Amat, Sherman Oaks ND, Loyola and Crespi...if you got the stones.

Anti Amat said:

Mr. MATMTWetc etc etc......

The strength of your schedule is precisely why I don't think Amat will finish better than 4-6. I think 3-7 is more realistic. It is admirable that Amat has scheduled those teams and it will be one of the tougher schedules in SGV. Doesn't mean you guys will win. You don't have the weapons or the firepower.

Come on down and join us in the Trinity League where real football is played.

Joe Amat said:

BS,

Isn't that what scheduling is all about. Laying it on the line and challenging yourself to have to play your very best just to go 8-2/7-3/6-4 or whatever. Walking that fine line and knowing that if you don't come to play it could just as easily be 2-8. That's quality scheduling.

Which is why I'm so disappointed in programs like boys basketball dropping from the Tournament of Champions and the Dream Classic all the way to the El Rancho or some DIV tournament and from playing teams like Mater Dei, Los Alamitos, Cajon, La Coste Canyon, Crawford, or Taft with great players to a schedule with Rosemead, Sierra Vista, Salesian, and Bassett (while losing to them on top of that!)

I'd rather see football (or basketball) challenge themselves and maybe miss the playoffs than play some BS schedule and get knocked off in the early rounds anyway!

MATMTWTBAG said:

Thats Ok Aram wait til the haters see you early top 10 for football and you have Amat as 1, all the bashing towards you and Amat will come out.......Bert Sugar that was a good analogy but I do not see LA as Mickey Ward.....Mickey has lots of heart..Ouch!

Bert Sugar said:

Sorry Mat...but 2-8 is very very possible as easily as you could go 8-2. Good luck to Verti and the kids. You're right it takes balls to schedule that many good teams...or maybe it's like everyone scheduling Arturo Gatti. Sorry but the truth is the truth...besides Gatti always puts up a great fight....Los Altos would be your Mikey Ward. Ouch.

MATMTWTBAG said:

Anti Amat,

If you are from LA or any other school around Bishop Amat, I like to see your team play that schedule.......I think Amat will be fine we got a group of players returning and barring no serious injuries or grade problems we will compete to the fullest.......that, my friend is a schedule with Balls attached to it.......so the rest of you haters when your school can nut up and play that kind of schedule then come on in here and talk.....I see us at 7-3 or 6-4.....

Amat opens with Los Osos, they may squeeze through that one. They go 6-4 at best next year, more like 5-5 again, with severe beat downs against O Lu, Hart, and ND. No big improvement will be seen. Thats if they take care of bizness against less than D1 teams like Carson, St Paul, and Los Osos each of whom have proved they are no push overs and playoff caliber teams, unlike Amat. Thens theres Crespi, and be sure to scoff at Loyola too!

Its tough schedule, for team circling the drain, for a program about to take a dive. Say hello to Div 3, in a solid all parochial league, next realignment. Its your best chance to regain status as somebody in football. You know it, we know, CIF knows it too. YOU AINT FOOLING ANYBODY, or beating anybody, anymore!

Wait, what was that? What did you just mumble? Your about to embark on a 3rd straight year of no playoffs in FB. The writing is on the wall, deal with it!

O Lu will be the biggest blow yet to fall upon the once mighty Lancettes! You asked for the ass whoppin', well my friend, thats exactly what your gonna get! They will rain fire and devastation to your teetering status as a Pac-5 legit squad. This will be known from here on as the downfall of Amat. And no one, I mean NO ONE, will be cutting you any slack here! YOU HAS-BEENS have been served noticed! I hope you got some ringers that plan on suiting up that week, because if that team from last year shows up, your bitches are gonna get hurt!

Thank-you for supporting wrestling in the San Gabriel Valley. Congratulations to all the guys who made the team.

I would like to thank Brian and Aram for their efforts and for putting together an All Area Wrestling Team. This year the SGV had three different schools win team CIF wrestling championships (Bishop Amat, Northview and West Covina and three runner-up finishes (South Hills 2X and Northview). With so many outstanding individuals in our area currently, it would be impossible recognized them all. Brian did a great job and made every effort to honor as many top wresters as he could. Wrestling is a very difficult sport and the athletes who compete know that they will never get the same recognition as football and basketball. It was outstanding to see the Tribune step up and recognize SGV wrestlers in the same way they do other major sports. I am grateful to Mr. Doug Spoon for recognizing the excellence that exists in the SGV in wrestling. There are many wrestling programs that are currently developing. With this type of recognition, it will become easier to promote our great sport.

Are the Arroyo High School wrestlers considered for the Tribune or the Pasadena Star News for the All Area First Team. I am not sure if the El Monte schools are in the Eastern or Western San Gabriel Valley.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers on the All Star Team. It's nice seeing these kids get the recognition they deserve.

Great job Brian covering the SGV wrestlers. Finally we have some media coverage that realizes how hard all these guys work to make their mark on the mat. It was good to see all grades covered in the all star team but most of all it was great to see my son finally get the recognition he and all wrestlers deserve, nice job guys!!! I've loved being a part of wrestling since high school and now I will be able to support my son in college. Go Titans!!!

Congrats to all who made the all area team and all those wrestlers that didn't make it but are still the best in the area, GOOD JOB!!!

WRASTLER training is THE most intense training in all of popular sport. Most wrestlers laugh at the intensity of football/basketball, etc. practices. There is no other sport that requires the absolute best in physical condition. This is because the competitors must be the same weight. Wrestling is also the oldest sport known to man. I have nothing but the highest regard for all of wrastlerz!!!

Amat vs. Lutheran!

WHAT AN HONOR!!! Win or lose, Amat continues to show that they will compete againts the best. This proves that Amat still desires to be part of the Pac-5.

Once again...Amat is defending the SGV from a massive assault of Orange County...IT WILL BE THE BEST OF THE SGV VS. THE BEST FROM THE OC!

and yet...I sense that there will be many here at home in the SGV that will actually cheer for Lutheran.

Actually, in response to wrestling not being a sport because there is no ball, you need to get your facts straight. Wrestling is a sport BECAUSE there is no ball, otherwise it would be a GAME, and wrestlers don't PLAY, that's why we have MATCHES.

Either way, I'm happy to see that wrestling is getting some props and very glad to see that West Covina and Donnie Stephens as a coach is getting some love for representing the SGV with pride.

The All Valley Line up, in my opinion, is pretty well represented with the most accomplished wrestlers in each weight class being represented. Job well done to all of them.

Wrestling is not a sport? Get the fat asses on the baseball and football fields to go through the discipline, training and one on one duals and then tell me its not a sport.

Does Amat have a week 0 game? If so, it is going to tough for them to recover from that 0 and 2 start. :)

Orange Lutheran to play Bishop Amat
By DAN ALBANO
OCVarsity.com

Orange Lutheran's football team has filled out its 2007 nonleague schedule by agreeing to play Bishop Amat of La Puente, Lancers coach Jim Kunau said today.

Orange Lutheran and Bishop Amat, both of whom are nicknamed the Lancers, have not played before.

Bishop Amat will play host to Orange Lutheran in Week 1 this fall.

The schools also have agreed to play in 2008, and that will be Orange Lutheran's home game.

Orange Lutheran, the reigning Pac-5 and Division II state champion, opens Week 0 against visiting Dana Hills.

No one from Amat come on here & said anyone from Amat should have been on the first team !!! My comment was for the Amat Hater who made the smart ass comment about what Div we were in. Amat was removed from the serra league which was D2 because of the football realignment. We wrestled the same teams that we played football against with the exeption of Salesian. I have heard & read nothing but good things about u from ur cousin over at Amat ? Good luck to u in the future !!!

No worries AJ, unfortunately most people who read your comments won't undersatnd what your talking about unless they follow wrestling.
Congratulations on a great high school career.

no, step to the line...YOU need to educate yourself! as anyone could PLAINLY see, Amat who? was talking about CIF duals, and not individuals. true, stevie and andrew did both win CIF, and yes, they also did make it to state (congratulations to both of them). Still, the fact remains, no one from bishop amat really deserves to be on the first team for the SGV all-stars. and what's the deal with the canyon springs comment? you do realize that having 4 good guys doesn't really matter in a dual, right? that was just unecessary, my friend.

WC - 12 CIF, 8 Masters, 4 State (2 placers)
NV - 14 CIF, 11 Masters, 5 State (1 placer)
SH - 13 CIF, 5 Masters, 3 State (1 placer-State Champ)
BA - 13 CIF, 5 Masters, 2 State (0 placers)

peace & Love

Hello Amat...NO ONE for Amat placed at state. No one. No one at Amat won at Masters. They had a great year, but in the particular weights, they were out shined in a great year by everyone. Try and be objective.

Amat Who ???

For ur information, Amat had 2 CIF Ind Champs, Espindola 112's & Ortega 119's, 5 Masters Qualifiers Espindola, Ortega, Mascarenas 145's, Hernandez 189's & Silva 215's & 2 State Qualifiers, Espindola & Ortega each 1 win away from placing !!! If u new anything about wrestling ! U would know that at Ind's, Div's are mixed around to make it more competitive ! In CIF INDIVIDUALS we had West Co, Santa Fe & So Hills in same Ind's & at Masters, all Div's are combined !! D1 thru D6. IT DOES'NT MATTER WHAT DIV UR IN !!! Amat had just as many CIF Champs, Master & State Qualifiers as any other team in the Sgv. Also, Amats team beat a Canyon Springs team at CIF Duals with 3/4 guys who were ranked at State all year long. ! By the way, Amat will only lose 2 Quality Seniors off this years team, how many seniors is everyone else losing ? Educate urself b4 u talk sh... !

The list was made by Brian Baiotto, who did a great job covering wrestling this year for us.

Dan Gable II said:

Love the nicer Aram....or maybe it's just the mellower me...either way...FIGHT ON!!!!

Best of luck Aram...that Rosemead pick in All Area Football is going to cause problems (slight one) when that same player makes Wrestler of the Year for the Star News? What gives? Not causing problems (really) just trying like hell to get Upland's Willie Trimble into the Tribune-Star News All Star game.

Heard non-All Area Justin Riley from Damien is in even though he didn't make 1st,2nd or 3rd Team All Area..what gives? I do remember you saying something about that before...what was it All League and senior status right? Riley deserves everythjinghe gets and will play at Chapman next year but is there any room for one of the best in the Area? Mr. Willie "Ray Ray" Trimble!!!!!

Joe Amat who made State and Masters from this area that did not make the list? You guys won a Championship and that's really all that matters. Good luck next year. Does your son wrestle? And at what weight?

Joe Amat said:

Amat guys were where they should have been. The beauty of wrestling is it's all decided on the mat. All you have to do is go to the Masters and State results, where all Divisions compete together, and you can figure out who should be where.

AT, good job on the list. Now where was the guy a week or so ago moaning about the All-Valley Wrestling team?

Amat who?? said:

"Wait didn't Bishop Amat win CIF? And no one's on the list?"

Ummmm.....what division was that again?? What guys would you bump and who would you put up there from Amat????

onthemat07 said:

Umm, Thomas Williams 112 won state and Angel Garcia 119 placed third at state, so no, the two Amat kids didn't have a better year at those weights.

Were you at the Nogales tournament where Sanchez from Northview beat Gonzalez. Didn't catch him in a mistake-out wrestled him,by the way Sanchez gives up about 30-35 lbs. in the heavyweight division. So don't try and diminish what Sanchez accomplished going into the season as an underdog in just about every match he wrestled in. Granted Gonzalez did have a great season.

We could sit here and debate on many outstanding wrestlers that are left that list i.e, Chris Armendariz,PJ Marttinez, Oscar Molina, Tatiana Padilla, Dela Fuente(San Dimas),Damon Kuklinski,Sierra Vista's 152lb and I can go on.What we need to focus on are the accomplishments these wrestlers reached at various tournaments thruout the season and will continue to conquer. Now onto Reno.............

Aram said:

Anthony Gonzalez = Star-News Wrestler of the Year. He was only considered for one team. Ruling on Rosemead coming later this spring.

Aram said:

Thanks, Dan. I agree, it's good to get that out of the way.

MATMTWTBAG said:

What?..No Anthony Gonzalez of Rosemead???? he would beat this guy you have out there from Northview Ziek Sanchez. Unless Aram you stayed closer to home and picked the schools from the East East SGV....?? The other picks are pretty good but there were maybe one or two girls that were pretty awesome wrestlers...confused but still OK.

Scud Alert! said:

Wait didn't Bishop Amat win CIF? And no one's on the list?

Opps everyone duck...here comes another Amat scud!

(sirens in the background)

Dan Gable said:

Aram I thought it would be effecient to put all the negatives into one post:

1) What are you thinking?!
2) Who picks these guys?!
3) You obviously know nothing about wrestling!
4) Where did "you" wrestle?!
5) You got your head so far up South Hills ass...
6) So and So should never be on the lists!!!!!
7) Really Aram...really...really?
8) It's not fair!!!!
9) It's not right!!!!!!
10) It's not what I wanttttttttttttttttttt !!!!

There now that THAT'S out of the way...great job to all the wrestlers on the list. Wrestling is brutal. The amount of work, dedication and pain wrestlers endure to meet on the mat is incredible. Yet no one really knows how hard it is until they actually wrestle themselves. It's a class sport with participants that have a mutual respect for each other rarely found in sports today.

There is a reason this sport has been around since before the Romans...one on one. The last of the true gladiators. Congratulations to all!
