FOOTBALL '07: "The Disappearing Acts" Top 5
Let me be real blunt, we're weeks away from spring practice and I've got five teams set to disappear from the Tribune Top 10 football rankings next season. ![]()
More on that in a minute ... but first: I've heard your roars for more football topics. I know your calendars have mid-May circled because that's when t-shirt and shorts drills begin. You want to know the Top 10 heading into spring practice. You want to know the Top 10 position rankings and have some schedules broken down to their very last compound. But before any Top 10 can be constructed, one must start with the elimination of certain teams. Narrow down the field, if you will. I know my man "Jimmy The E" over at South Hills knows exactly what I'm talking about. You've got to take your racing form and start drawing Xs thru the horses. Then, you arrive at the contenders. So, beside the obvious eliminations, here are some names that were major Win, Place or Show options last year, but won't be nearly as lucky this year. Could I be wrong? Yes. I'd like to urge all these teams not to cancel practice just because I say their seasons are over before they begin. But, don't say I didn't tell you so when things go south and we're all watching the playoffs together from the sidelines.

Joey Chase will try, but they'll be crying for the Class of '07 by late September in Snoop's hood.
1. Rowland - No more Philip Chase, Rene Small, Jon Couewenhoven, Chad Norys ... need I continue? It was nice while it lasted. But Rowland ain't South Hills. It can't reload. The senior class that brought the program back to respectability in 2006 will be sorely missed. I see no program on this list poised for a bigger fall. The problem for teams like Rowland or others on this list is that they didn't make any friends with their success of the past two seasons. Nobody will take them lightly and there's going to be a lot of opponents looking for revenge (South Hills being one of them).
2. Covina - Talk about scary graduation losses - Mike McDonough, Tre McNair, Jamal James, Manny Esquivel, Ralph Diaz, Brad Gomez ... stop me when you get tired. It's not a pretty picture when you couple what Covina loses with how bad Northview and San Dimas will be seeking revenge. I'm not %100 sure that Covina will fall so dramatically that it can't put a scare in the Vikes or Saints, but the days of 9-1 regular seasons and 40+ points per game are over until DT pops with his next team of the decade.
3. West Covina - From preseason No. 1 in 2006 to likely not even ranked in 2007. Yes, it could be a big fall for the 'Dawgs as a dynamic senior class says adios in June. Things wouldn't have been so bleak, but the program's graduation insurance - sophomore all-purpose stud Demond Wallace - was in and out of trouble last year with coaches, and last I heard, he's in Louisiana. WestCo still has an underrated talent base, but you've got to be loaded to hang in the Southwest Division with South Hills, Charter Oak and Los Altos. The Dawgs aren't loaded.
4. Damien - It's reasonable to expect the entire Sierra League will either stay the same or get better. What's not reasonable to expect is that Damien will stay the same or get better. The days of Mendrun-to-Eschardies are over. Was there really much more to the offense than that last year? Not to mention the defense says goodbye to linebacker Anthony Hile and defensive back Daniel Harper. Spartans coach Scott Morrison is the luckiest big headset on this list, because unlike the other teams, he's replacing his QB with a potential stud. The problem is that Damien will need much more than Danny Pertusati to hang in the Sierra and Inland Division.
5. Bonita - Nobody does a better job making the best of what he's got than Bo-Hi's Eric Podley. Absolutely nobody. But can Podley pull off yet another magic act next season? QB Jeff Chavez is gone. He kinda came out of nowhere to be one of the area's best signal callers, just like Mike Williams did. Is there another sleeper in the system? The smart money says "No way, Jose." Bonita's in a similar predicament as West Covina in that the 'Cats are in a division that figures to be dominated by local powers South Hills, Charter Oak and Los Altos. Those teams are nothing to sleep on this year. But Bonita has an even more difficult task than West Covina because the 'Cats have to vie with D-Ranch and Wilson for the vaunted "other playoff spot" in the Miramonte. West Covina only has to deal with Rowland and Walnut. Podley has pulled off 8-2 and 7-3 seasons, respectively, in the past two years. And I do mean "pulled off." With so much lost from this year's team, don't look for the magic to continue.

Jody, I absolutely love the way you stick up for your son. Congratulations on Mike's success! As always I am a big fan of his. I heard the story and read the blog messages and just figured it was more of the same...BS!
I bragged about Mike to everyone of my football friends. They are all coming over to see him in his ALL STAR appearances. Talked to Coach Duffy and it's a plan as well to go see Mike. My 3 brothers are still high school football coaches and they still can't believe how often I tell them about his San Dimas game (sick and all and still he was exceptional to watch)
My son Matthew will be attending USC next year and he can not wait to see Mike as well. Where did the time fly Jody? Don't ever let these morons get to you. I've seen Football games for over 30 years and Mike was as exceptional a talent as I have ever seen! What a tremendous leader and competitor! Looking forward to seeing the ALL Star practices, that's where he'll really shine! Where's Mike playing next year? Also Jody could you tell me anything about Ralph Diaz's plans, he also went to school with Matthew at St. Louis of France after we left Andrews.
To the morons who find some perverse pleasure in tormenting the Mc D's ..YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME! Best of luck with everything Jody and tell Mike congratulations.
JACK ASS, AND SUPPOSED NEIGHBOR:
IT HAS BEEN A LONG WHILE SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON THIS BLOG. I WAS SPEAKING WITH A REPORTER FROM THE TRIBUNE WHO SAID THAT PEOPLE WERE BASHING MY SON AGAIN. FIRST OF ALL LET ME SET YOUR BULLSHIT RUMORS STRAIGHT: JESSIE KYLE WAS A GOOD KID WHO PERSONALLY WORKED IN THE DEANS OFFICE, HE WAS NOT KILLED BECAUSE OF A DRUG DEAL, HE WAS IN A FIGHT WITH A BOY WHO WOULD NOT PAY HIM BACK FOR MONEY HE BORROWED FROM HIM. I PERSONALLY NEW HIM AND HOW DARE YOU TALK OR DISGRACE HIS MEMORY IF YOU DONT EVEN KNOW THE TRUTH. MICHAEL KNEW JESSY FROM VIKINGS FOOTBALL, THEY PLAYED SINCE THEY WERE 12 YEARS OLD, AS WELL AS THE HUNDREDS OF COVINA AND NORTHVIEW HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO MOURNED FOR HIM. TO TURN HIS DEATH INTO A BASH ABOUT MY SON, IS AS SCUMMY AND LOWLIFE AS THE WAY YOU TRY TO PORTRAY COVINA KIDS. JUST REMEMBER, COVINA IS KNOWN TO BE A VERY UPPER MIDDLE CLASS NEIGHBORHOOD WITH VERY HIGH PROPERTY VALUES YOU IDIOT. YOU TRY TO MAKE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SOUND LIKE IT IS GHETTO. BUT IN FACT YOUR BEHAVIOR AND INSULTS ARE ABOUT AS GHETTO AS I HAVE EVER SEEN.
AS FOR ITS UNFAIR: MICHAEL WAS NOT KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL YOU IDIOT, HE IS ON TRACK TO GRADUATE WITH NO HELP FROM ANY COACHES AT COVINA, HE JUST WAS PERSONALLY CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE TOP TEN SENIORS THAT ARE AWARDED AN AWARD BY THE ADMINISTRATORS OF THE SCHOOL AND HIS SPONSER WHO PICKED HIM WAS THE PRINCIPLE. MICHAEL HAS COMPLETELY STAYED OUT OF TROUBLE AND HAS BEEN PLAYING FOOTBALL AT THE COLLEGE ALL SPRING. AS FAR AS HIM MAKING THE ALL STAR GAME...YOUR DAM RIGHT HE DID!!!!! EAT YOUR FRICKEN GUTS OUT!!!! HIS COACHES WHO BY THE WAY ARE NOT COVINA COACHES ARE EXTREMELY EXSTATIC TO HAVE HIM ON THERE TEAM AND ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE HONOR OF HIM PLAYING FOR THEM. THEY HAVE BEEN COACHES THAT HAVE PLAYED AGAINST HIM FOR 4 YEARS, AND HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR HIM AS A FOOTBALL PLAYER, AS DOES ANYONE WHO REALLY KNOWS FOOTBALL. WHICH MAKES ME THINK THAT BOTH OF YOU NEGATIVE DEGRADING JERKS, KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL, YOU NEVER TALK ABOUT IT ON THIS BLOG, YOU TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE BUT FOOTBALL.
COVINA HIGH SCHOOL HAS MANY COLLEGE GRADUATES, THAT WE ARE PROUD OF, SO KEEP YOUR STUPID, IGNORANT RUMORS TO YOUR SELF. EVERY THING YOU SAID IS UNTRUE, AND I JUST WANT THE BLOGGERS TO REALLY WATCH WHAT YOU BELIEVE WHEN YOU READ THESE BLOGS, SO MUCH OF IT IS EXTREMELY EXAGGERATED.
LASTLY, NEIGHBOR OF MINE, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY SON OR FAMILY, WHY DONT YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO SPEAK WITH ME, INSTEAD OF HIDING BEHIND THE BLOG. YOUR A COWARD, IVE SAID IT TO YOUR FACE, CAN YOU SAY IT TO MINE!
Keep working hard Austin. Everyone at Amat knows your putting in the work. There will always be "dads" like "rated so high" who will try to bring a fellow lancer down. It took "dad" to the earlier hours to write about you and he even wished you luck too. Wow, how Clever! Rated wanted to motivate you to being a man. Yes, unknown D. Austin (a one star player) did get invited to the Nike Camp and was voted to the All Camp Team as a DE out of 200 players. I guess Amat advertizing helped him! I guess he used Amat advertizing to help him get voted to the All Combine (DE)team at Scout camp too. I guess Amat adverting is forcing college coaches to send him letters also. NOT! I wonder due you follow Austin and some of these other players around with a scale. By the way rated, Austin played OL majority of the time and more D when league started towards the end of the year. Austin, remember once a lancer always a lancer bro. Some of you dads need to get a serious life. Da freedom of speech behind the blogs :(
Austin has gained 20 pounds since his soph. year. Is that the Amat training you're bragging about?
And that was after football season when players add weight. At the combine in April 2007 he was measured at 6'5" 240 lbs. That's lanky!
He's always had a problem adding weight. He's not mean, doesn't take over games and had 26 tackles all year...according to the combine bio. What makes him special? Amat advertizing. He's a one star rated player. Same as anyone who shows up or gets invited. Carreon from Charter Oak is rated the same, 1 star. The kid from Cathedral, Trujillo is 6'3" 315 and is mean as dirt. Rabe from Damien is 6'5" 290 and coming on strong, plus he's a mean ass DE with bad intentions. Ralph Diaz from Covina is a better football player and if he had that size would be at Miami. Hell if he went to Bishop Amat he would have been side by side with Fletcher and Amat is in the playoffs!
Maybe Austin will blow up this year but I have my doubts. Great players get it early and often. Austin is potential and that's it. Time to step up big boy and live up to your billing. I think if Silva had your size he'd be ranked ahead of you. Hope this motivates you to get serious about being the man. Every year Austin has had either bigger people around him or excuses that he's young --well that time and those people are gone--now it's just you. Good luck DA I'm wishing you the best.
Luvthisgame,
Austin hurt his shoulder lifting at a combine and that's why he couldn't lift for a while. Don't speak on things that you have no clue about. And I did speak with him.
AND McBride will tell you the work outs with the Amat lifting program is more intense than Los Altos.
Here's a disappearing act for you Aram. According to the Mid Valley News, Mike Mooney is leaving your old alma matter for San Marino
Wow is right,
Where do you come up with this stuff. That was hilarious!!! You can't be serious. Verti would be the first to admit that McBride's speed and strength are not due to Amat's "tip top" program. Ask D. Austin how good the weight program is, he wasn't able to lift due to poor weight training at Amat. Both players have done most of their preparation outside of Amat. Don't insult the players or parents for the time and money they put in outside of Amat.
You're right. No CIF title in three years, fire the coach, and try again. Nothing like a head coach, revolving door policy, to establish stability in 60-70 teenage players.
I really don't care about people talking smack about someone else's "team". Good years come, and go for every program, depending on the available talent in the area.
What coach thinks that getting hammered by 50 is earning respect?
It HAS been a while, but c'mon, don't you think that if they were really "on top" and they wanted to shut up all of the doubters (like myself) of LA football, and earn some respect in the Valley, that they should have the...*uts to play a good quality Team? Unless they are winning championships year in and year out, I cannot crown them as the top team in the Valley. WC played Mater Dei, CO and Glendora played BA, granite these teams did not win, but they some what put up fight.(with the exception of CO). They too did not win a championship, but at least they got some respect. What is going to be the excuse if you have an easy scheduale and you don't win? All Im saying is, that Gano's "strategy" hasn't worked in a while, maybe it is time for a change? wouldn't you agree?
"Say WHAT???"
LA's recent CIF titles:
2003, 2002, 2000, 1999, etc.... Sorry, it's been three years since LA's last.
Never said I agreed with Gano's strategy, just that he has his own ideas.
BTW: Who said anything about league titles? DIVISION championship IS a CIF title. As in the Southwest Division, that LA is currently in.
LA "struggled" to the semi's last year before losing to the eventual champions, El Dorado.
Luvthisgame
Wow, Mcbride benches 185 20+ times. I was worried about Amat's lifting program but McBrides stats has assured me that Amat is the place where I want to send my boy. They have their lifting and speed training program in tip top shape. Thanks for helping me make my decision.
That is a great "strategy" that Gano has at LA, it really seems to be working. Because the last time LA won a CIF Championship was...? not a league title, because as every one can agree, a league title means nothing unless you win a CIF championship! The fact of the matter is, that LA "breezes" through their scheduale, and end up struggling in the playoffs. Maybe if they played some "badass" teams in the regular season, they would not struggle so much in the playoffs, because they are so big eyed when they have to face some adversity. So you keep believing in Gano's "strategy".... and keep us informed on when you guys get back to the "top" ok pumpkin!!!
people have no respect for each other's school's on this blog
Like I said before. There's only one reason for playing, and that's coming away with a championship. Whatever "strategy" each program uses is up to them. If some school(s) thinks their "badass" because they invite Servite to their field for a big dose of ass whupping, that's their choice.
Gano runs the show, and he has his own ideas on how to get to the top.
"Conq no one" lately....My school is DB, we have plenty of tradition in our short time,...my point about DRHS is (and realize that I HATE both LA and DR, but maybe you alittle more than them) the Panthers are afraid of no one. They don't duck anybody. They schedule the best, they take their best shot, they leave it all on the field.
Your history shows clearly, that you'd rather play patty cake with your D3 buddies and below.....instead of mixing it up with some ballas!
Bluorca was right! You have no idea how much that hurt to say.....
Besides Longoria if your line does not hold up what good is Bryce?...thats right banged up.
MAT...
Didn't think that had anything to do with him being injury prone but since you brought it up, McBride has certainly improved his size and strength, even more than Wells. Just check out his SPARQ rating of 93.85. He reps 185 over 20+times.
TOP 5
Lets think about it:
What it the formula for the TOP 5?
Is their a formula?
Is it just being bias?
Is their really any doubt who #1 is?
Think about it:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
LUVTHISGAME,
Have you seen Wells lately?...I guess not. He has put on weight thru muscle mass and looks incredibly stronger than last year. Another player Amat has this year is Kevin Bonilla. This young man knows the game and is quick to the ball not to mention he played a little running back last year and looked pretty good vs Rancho Cucamonga. This kid knows how to tackle.
"Randy"
And.......
Did DR win a division championship???
Did LA win a division championship???
No.
Who cares about the bragging rights to a single game? A loss here, or there, doesn't matter.
It's about winning it all, and being at the top of your game come playoff time, to do so.
LA will never match it's own past, but anything less than a CIF title in December is disappointing.
We have bigger fish to fry. When you have the tradition, and history of a school like LA, you'll understand it.
Conq Alum...........Diamond Ranch beat LA last year right? Maybe sparring with the heavyweights helped pull out that 4th qtr win against your boys last yr? That may or may not be the reason they beat you, BUT THEY DID BEAT YOU....right?
To God said Amat is No:
With all that hate blinding you, you might need to put your eye glasses back on because they fell off or maybe you need to stop looking through a micro glass. Silva is not 5-10. In fact, Silva is approx. 6-1 225 and solid as a rock. He will be a big time player next year.
Austin is 6-4 245 and solid. By no means is he "lanky". He needs to add weight depending on what position he plays in college.
Wells is 5-9 and he has also put on some weight to prevent more injuries.
Here's another names for you, James Mead. Made a name for himself at the Nike Camp. It's listed on their website.
Check out NIKE Camp,ss.rivals, & scout.com on Mead, Wells, and Austin. You may learn something and it might help with your vision.
MAT...,
Please remember Wells has suffered several serious injuries the past 2 seasons. Your "go to guy" is no rock, by a longshot.
AM,
I'm trying, but they're not getting back to me.
Any recent word on the Basset head coach?
I spoke to both coaches. The answers you're looking for are at the top of the blog in a new thread.
Wish that call was made before this season started and we could have had LA come to Kiefer instead of Los Osos on 0 week...If you conqs. are barely making it into the D6 playoffs by a coin flip last year, what is all this nonsence you talk about being the supreme commander of SGV football....then you get 1 (McBride) and a 1/2 (Tillis) players from Amat and now you want to be ranked no.1.....you are going to need more then that this year....You fellows over there talk the talk but dont walk the talk...Amat football players are not only physically bigger and stronger than your players they are also much more challenged year in and year out....there is just no comparison when it comes to schedules...yes I admit the playoffs have been gone from us for a couple of years but put us in D6 and all the complaining would come out as to it is not fair that Bishop Amat is cleaning up the D6...like our baseball team everyone now is complaining that we are moping up D5 baseball.......serious Los Altos make up your minds or come up to the where the real men perform in the D1 pac5 and play us and everyone else up here but you will not because you do not have what it takes. Keep that small boys team over there at Los Altos in those playoffs and get punked by the OC because with all the CRA- you spill over there I have yet to see your team get very far....oh and by the way Mc Bride is injury prone...take care of him.
Aram,
Please do, although Gano will probably spew out the normal blah about not playing D1's, due to LA being D6. He does schedule comparable talent teams, but it does leave you wondering where you stand with the big boys. Of course you could always schedule Oaks Christian, and Servite, and get bashed 50-0 like Diamond Ranch did last year....
Aram,
please do. These pins, needles, and amat fans are a pain in my ***!
thanks bro.
TOP PROSPECTS:
here is a new thread, or topic idea . . .
Are there any top incoming H.S. prospects in here, or parents?
if so . . .
What school posses the TOP football program in the area?
What school is your son going to attend?(parent)
OR
What school do you wish to attend?(prospect)
and
Why?
You want me to call both coaches and ask them on the record about a game? It would kinda be nice to know ...
blu,
if that LA job were to open up, and I was hired, whoaaaaaaaa! You and the whole Amat family would have their wish come true, if Verti and co. had the tenacity of course.
I would do better than that. I think that that game should be the annual SGV kickoff classic, the premiere SGV rivalry, an annual week 0 rivalry game.
Following that game, I would schedule the best comp available, I don't care who. Anytime, anywhere, any place.
You Amat guys crack me up...absolutely no class.
What the hell are they feeding you other than BS at that 'school'?
By the way get ready for 4-6 and another year without playoffs.
As far as BIG? Silva is 5'10" 210 on a good day. And Austin is TALL not BIG. Maybe 230 on a lanky 6'4" frame?
Mat,
you have just made it official. LA is the SGV's premiere program. Once again the spotlight is shined on the Conq's by people outside the program. Neutral folk. This time though, you reminded me that when the Amat family isn't putting the attention on themselves, that they shine that light on mighty RED, WHITE, and BLUE!!
This is just beyond flattering. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is putting us at #1 consistantly year after year, we are ALWAYS the talk about the what, the who, who is the QB, WHO IS THIS GUY, who is on their schedule, etc. This off-season seems no different, but to think that you guys talk about us too, wow!!
If any SGV programs are going to schedule Amat they will wait until a "down year" to schedule Amat (Except Damien) If I wanted to play them, I too would wait for a down year. Glendora and Charter Oak did this exactly in 2004 and the Tartans almost beat the Lancers that year. CO got pummeled both years as someone in an earlier post mentioned.
I do give WC major props playing Mater Dei...I also give SH their props in scrimmaging SO Notre Dame......Bishop Amat on the other hand plays a huge schedule and gets no rest game to game...Amat does have the horses this year but so does everyone else. Dane Crist and Thaddeus Brown both Return for Notre Dame this year and are the studs of the team. Crespi returns a good Running back in Shanks and have that big 6'7 TE Fauria. That Pac 5 is loaded.. Amat brings back A bulked up Marcus Wagner and Dorian Wells is a great all around football player not to mention the Big Dominique Austin..One player to look out for this year and is going to play a big role for Amat is Julian Silva He plays on both sides of the ball..good size for a tight end and a tremendous pass rusher...QB still a unknown factor but I am sure Verti will figure it out....added new coaches to the staff with more experience than last year is a plus over at Amat. The O-line looks big and strong and the weightlifting they did over the off season has them looking bigger and stronger...Amat will compete to the fullest this year...Los Altos besides McBride and Longoria and a few others what makes you a contender?....Why has LA not followed in the footsteps of SH , WC and schedule some real teams for their non league...They were smart not to play Amat this year....
How come no Basset, La Puente, or Workman in the top ten?
Sierra League
1)Chino Hills...best sports program top to bottom
2)Glendora...Coach P. says "payback's a biscuit"
3)Diamond Bar... Good Coaching matters
4)Chino..Last year didn't sit well with parents
5)Damien...Too many gaps. Why didn't they schedule Mater Dei?
6)Ayala....Not enough time.
Top 4 SGV
1) Bishop Amat...Verti fan
2) Los Altos...this could get ugly
3) South Hills...reloading
4) West Covina...you schedule Mater Dei major props
This will be a great season for SH!
With Brandon Parham, Damon Kuklinski, Kebin Umodu and Demitri Dela Fuente just to mention a few.
Huskies are stacked!
Don't list Amat on a list because of tradition. List them based on returners and record. They are a top ten team but we will see during the year where they belong.
1.Everyone coming back has game experience, good quality game experience. They played in two overtime games and won. They played many sophomores and Juniors, not just in the blowout losses against Hart and ND, but many other games.
2.They have quality players. Austin and Wells are the names that most are familiar with but like every year there will be one or two surprises. Depth could be a concern if a vast amount of injuries occur just like it did last year.
3.Those small sophomores will be bigger juniors. Price is a 6'3" corner who had to line up and take some lumps last year. Stanton and Horton from ND were great players. But he also played great against RC and they had 3 WR go sign to D-1 schools.
4.A big, experienced line on both sides of the ball will always help ease the burden of breaking in a new starting QB.
5. QB=? No matter what direction the Lancers go, at least it will be a QB who has been in the system learning the same offense.
Top Ten
This is based on what I think their records will be at the end of the year.

SGV Top 5
1. Los Altos - Stud magnet
2. Bishop Amat - Tradition
3. Glendora - Scarey D loaded with talented studs
4. South Hills - Always a contender
5. Charter Oak - Could be most experienced QB
....Everyone else
I don't know
San Dimas finished second in their league ahead of Northview and BP.
They only lose seven staters and have one of the best backs in SGV. Northview and San Dimas will give us all we can handle this year.

Thats one of the reasons I like NV and San Dimas in the top 10, they got smashed last year and can only get better after the abuse.
Another reason...NV...Oscar Robles, 2nd Year starting varsity QB. This kid took the worst abuse from C-Towns defense last year and never gave in, had to be there to respect his courage.
As for SD...Nico Barbone, impressive playmaker, take the time to watch him break a few tackles, its worth it...
Oh and by the way I a Covina parent so my opinion is far from biased about these guys who I believe are both just Juniors...
AnyMouse...
i dont get how nv and sd are in the top 10's when they got smashed last year and had what, a 5-5 season, and the same guys are coming back. no sense
SGV TOP TEN:
1. South Hills
2. Bishop Amat
3. Los Altos
4. Charter Oak
5. Glendora
6. Diamond Ranch
7. Northview
8. San Dimas
9. Bonita
10. West Covina
Sorry, I forgot I have to sign my name each time I post, the last post was by Dan [West Co].
Here's My top 10
#1 West Covina [just Kidding!]
#1 Bishop Amat - heard from a dad about a year ago that the 2008 class is very talented, the other SGV powers can challenge them in their down years and might have a chance but not when they are loaded.
#2 South Hills - Another loaded team with many returners,Evan Heard impressed me as a Sophmore.[sophmore according to the program] and they will have a chip on their shoulder because of the Charter Oak blowout loss in the playoffs.
#3 Charter Oak - QB who came in as a sophmore did well and should be a good leader for his team, along with a lot of returning starters from a defense that carried the team last year.
#4 Glendora - Also returning many from a solid team last year, & if the JV was undefeated as someone posted it can only help.
#5 Los Altos- BA transfers plus Longoria plus they also reload well each year, in my opinion Los Altos and Glendora are a toss up and could alternate spots with each other.
#6 Damien - Like West Co they lose an excellent
senior class in June but they useually reload well
most years so I'll go with them at #6
#7 Diamond Ranch - Don't know much about them & who they have returning, but I get a feeling with the talent in that area & their new coaches from last season this program is starting to turn around.
#8 West Co. - A good ending to what could have been a disappointing season as they took out the D6 #1 seed in round 1 of the playoffs, plus the blowout win in the league showdown vs a good Rowland team to cause a three way tie for the league Championship, This was despite not having 2 Game breaker starters for most of the season
and having William Wallace playing with an injured knee on the final playoff game. The Bulldogs will be young this year with few returners coming back so it could be a tough season for them, especially with South Hills
& Charter Oak being so loaded, and with Mater Dei & Rancho Cucamonga on the schedule again, never the less, I still think they will be tougher than most people think, not up there with the rest of the SGV powers but still able to crack the top ten.
#9 Northview - Don't know a lot about them, maybe they will avenge the last two years vs Covina.
#10 Covina - Another team loosing a bunch of talent, can they reload.
i like the top 10s. there looking nice. i know sh is gonna be loaded as well as charter oak. but as for us here at covina we'll have a good squad as well. starting qb jacob olivas will had a tremendous year throwing the ball around to arieus williams and nick tucker. on defense jazz daniels and charles shorts are going to tear it up as well. this kids are gonna do just fine and are going to be turning heads all seasons. but good luck to all sgv teams

Aram,
Who will be the top players in the SGV next year?
Im not an Amat supporter, but Amat is in Pac 5 and is hands down the top team in the SGV every year. Rank them where you want.I thought CO had the best chance of beating BA a few years ago when they played. Boy was I wrong. BA plays at a whole different speed and level of football an I respect their program. Even if Amat has a .500 season, they still beat every team in the valley. I think CO should be at #2. With Los Altos a very very close #3. Yes they got players from BA this year. Whoopdie freakin doo, it happens every year and LA has yet to schedule BA. Hmmmm ...I wonder why..and they have yet to schedule any other to top team, but they will have a good year this year.
SOUTH HILLS IS LOADED!!!!
SH IS #1 THIS UPCOMING SEASON!
1. SOUTH HILLS
2. LOS ALTOS
3. CHARTER OAK
1. Charter Oak
2. Los Altos
3. South Hills
4. Glendora
5. Northview
6. Bishop Amat
7. Diamond Ranch
8. Covina
9. San Dimas
10. Bonita
Here's my top 10:

Others: Baldwin Park, Covina
Here's my ranking,
1-LA
2-SH
3-CO
O yea I guess I would put amat 4 at best, another .500 season.
MAT
Bishop Amat number 3. Proved nothing last year in your division.
It's a team
A Freshman or JV player doesn't have the expericence at the varsity level. Speed or no Speed. Big difference playing at the Varsity level.
Jv or Freshman records don't justify nothing at the varsity level. Game is way faster!!!!!
Posters,
Quit being Gullible.
I believe that Amat on Top is a poster from another school who is trying to make Amat look bad and get a response. Don't believe that everything you read is from a poster who supports the school. I take everthing written on the board as a half truth. You should do the same.
Top Ten:
Bishop Amat at 1 and then the rest.
One more thing "Sierra League",
Also note, I believe the Tartans JV squad was UNDEFEATED last season. Most of these studs who come up to varisty will be playing against the same kids they beat last season.
Sierra League,
Every team in Sierra League will need to replace several key players. Glendora will need to replace fewer. Defense is nearly returning ALL starters. Of course, when you have the leading Sierra League rusher (Edmonds) leaving, you have big shoes to fill. However, there are several speedsters returning and comming up from JV, including one young man from Freshman who will challange Edmonds big numbers.
Don't sell Glendora short. You will find this seasons team will be more experienced and better than last year, while most other Sierra League teams will be less experienced and less talent than last season.
Amatontop,
that was one of the dumbest, most simple minded things that I've ever heard. Put your chubby wittle digits up and tell me how old you are, awww dat is soooo pwescious!! Amawt is . . . is . . . is the best mommy, no one can beat Bishop Amat, the Lancers always win!
SHUTUP!!!
Here is the adress to Mauch Memorial Stadium, DON'T GET LOST!
Its a team sport
Glendora will have BIG problems replacing Edmonds. Edmonds carried Glendora last year!
Please tell us who your play makers are this year! Where's your team speed coming from?
AnyMouse,
We know the truth why Covina lost to Glendora. Glendora was the better team. Unless, you think Covina was a ONE man team and I know you would give more credit than that to the Colts. To my knowledge, Glendora ended up beating more #1 teams in there respective leagues than any other team. They did this while key Tartan players were injured and missing play time throughout the season... get over it. Covina lost to Glendora at least two seasons straight. The Colts had a great TEAM last season and hopefully they will be able to do well this year, even though, many studs have graduated.
hey anymouse, thanks for the compliment. amat your not as good as you guys over there think
wow this retard below me just opened up a preverbial pandoras box for our school...what an idiot
Amat on Top...
Get real...
Covina would have smashed Amat the last 2 years.
Your comment way too smug and I had to set things straight...A game between them wouldnt even have been close...
Ya Ya...Covina lost to Glendora but even the skirts over there know the truth as to why...
AnyMouse...Out
Why wait for Aram's "Top Ten"?
Start throwing out some predictions, I am curious what your thoughts are and how closely they will match Aram's opinion. I will put mine out in a day or two, I need to break down a few things first.
Dont just vote for your kids team, favorite team or school you graduated from but try to be non biased and honest about your picks.
Back your picks up with some facts and this may be quite interesting.
Any Takers??
AnyMouse...
Look forget about the past on who won what and whatever, (even though we all know amat was and is better). The fact of the matter is that NO TEAM, and I mean NO TEAM in the SGV can beat BA. Because BA is Faster, Stronger, Smarter, Bigger, and more agaile. I challenge any school in the SGV to play the Schedule we play every year, and play in Pac-5 and see how successful they are. No team will make it out of it with a .500 average or better. This years team is going to put BA back on the map and show the SGV and PAC-5 that BA is back. You can argue, too tuff of a scheduale. No Problem. Best Class in years, and a lot of experience and BA works harder than any other program in the area. Loss of Mc Bride at RB, No Problem. Depth. BA wont skip a beat even w/o him. So all you haters can talk, but when it comes down to it, no one in the valley is better than BA!!! and that is a fact.
WAIT TILL ARAM POST TOP 10 NEXT WEEK, THEN THE HITS WILL GO AROUND THE ORBIT!!!!
AnyMouse
ITS THE OFF SEASON FOR FOOTBALL AND GETTING 276+ hits. Wait till season starts...
Baseball not even close! Yeah, BB will get hits like football in the off season LOL
The Official pre-Spring Top 10 will be out this week. I believe practice for most teams starts on May 14. Then, we'll have another Top 10 after spring practices, heading into summer.
Football is my number 1 topic on the blog also but its near the end of baseball season and there isnt any activity here, I just dont think Aram has a heart for baseball to be honest.
By the way the last relevant baseball blog had 231 hits which was way more than basketball and even some of the football topics combined.
AnyMouse...
It's gotta be way too early for any type of top ten list in football. We still have the entire summer to go. Yeah...it's obvious what the popular sport is. Now it's 276 =)
anymouse
obviously no one cares about baseball or there wouldnt be 275 comments on a football topic.
by the way aram whens that top 10 coming out?
ARAM
How about a NEW topic??
Or even an OLD topic like baseball??
When discussing Damien's biggest loses Aram you should talk about Jeff Lucero. This kid was absolutely invaluable to Damien's success. Who will step up and take his place? He played on both sides of the ball and was awesome. Great season J.L.
Anonymous
have u ever seen this guy coach??? prolly not
he is a diamond bar alum and knows success. played wit van horn and knows how 2 win. He came into a situation his first year where he had only 7 guys.He Brought another enviroment to workman. The Gym was always rocking when there was a home game. even in CIF when things werent looking so good. His attitude and determination helped that program a lot. He only had one really bad year and that was his second year. Your telling me every coach in this area has a record of 20-6 year in and year out i dnt think so. They all have that sub par record. He knows a lot about the game and i think he will really help that program out a lot.
This message board is for Top 10 football rankings next season. It's based on stats and figures. The message board is here for everybody to comment on, whether you're from BA, LA, CO, or even LP. It gives everybody a chance to state how they feel about the top 10 or their school. I sounds like most of the ppl here are proud of where they might have played at or proud of their child's school, or maybe proud that the local HS is doing good.
It MUST be football season again....let the classless Amat bragging begin.
Absolutely NO CLASS.
I know , someone prodded Amat into defending itself. And like that famous "dog" you start moving your chubby little fingers everytime someone pulls your chain.
Imagine how entertaining you all must be at parties....bragging about high school legends like some kind of Moonie...it's a high school not a cult. opps..."it's university like" wow that's sick, lol!
Well I'll get ready for the "We're better than you" blog mantras and laugh from the sidelines.
And then...and then...and then.... (stats and figures) What a sorry bunch.
West Covina might drop off the map in basketball too. After making some strides under Pres for a couple of years, they replace him with the Workman coach? What are they thinking? The guy had a losing record and coached at a smaller school against inferior competition, with lesser coaches. Now he has to go against experienced coaches at Rowland, Nogales, and South Hills? They'll be back to battling Walnut to stay out of last place. And I thought that the new principal was a sports guy. Guess not. Oh well.
I didnt mean to skip over sermons and wagner. I was simply resonding to the guy who was saying amat produces runningback who cant succeed at the next level. I grew up watching sermons, mccutcheon, wagner. Wagner succeeded at the next level as a runningback at Iowa State, Sermons was pretty good at USC. I loved to watch wagner when he was healthy at amat. He made some unbelievable cuts against the grain. Lets see if his little brother marcus can step up this year and show some flashes of his brother. A majority of the of the Amat runningbacks have defaulted back to teir original defensive position in college and the pros. The biggest surprise to me was when I found out brian russell made it in the pros as a saftey. That guy was a quarterback at sdsu and flip floped to defense and made it in the pros as a safety, and not just an okay player, a pretty dam good player. If you go on youtube and look up joey getherall theres one video of a punt return against nebraska. What a tallent, fun to watch. Its too bad he was so small.
Just to let you know, Podley is an awesome coach and will have his team ready to win the smudgepot yet again!
03 Lancer,
You just skipped right over Scott Fields and Rodney Sermons. Those guys were no joke. There have been plenty of good RBs since Bieniemy, but there haven't been too many since McCleskey. Wagner was nice, though.
Fine with me poty.
http://und.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/getherall_joey00.html
This website which has his bio states that he ran a 4.23 forty. He was a five seven receiver. Don't think Notre Dame recruited him for his height. And his dad is kick ass. He just received the silver star and purple heart.
Great bloodlines and good people.
"Getherall ran a 4.23 and averaged over twenty yards a catch." Three words for that "Full of Sh**". That would make him 2/100 of a second slower that the fastest ever recorded time using a fully electronic timing device. 4.4 is great speed for the NFL.
saladdays,
you know what, Amat has not had a pure running back in a while. IN the NFL there have been plenty of short runningbacks: Muarice Drew, Eric Bienemy ( 5'8" bowling ball) Barry Sanders..etc You get the picture. Eric Bienemy was probably the last pure runningback we had at Amat. Donnie McCleskey was the last good runningback for Amat, but he was a defensive player first, as was Ralph Brown and Daylon McCutcheon. All defensive backs. They all stepped up to play runningback because they needed someone to step up and play runningback those guys were pure athletes.
85' was Mark Carrier Poly
86' & 87' Russel White Crespi
both Big 5
Bieniemy was not the BIG-5 Player of the Year, I believe it was Russel White from Crespi. His jersey hangs in the hall of fame because he was a great Amat Player. Being Player of the Year at amat is not the standard for retriement of jerseys. If thats the case, ask the Administration why the Jersey's of Two CIF-SS Div.I Players of the Year, not in the hall. Its beyond me...
Joe A twat
You would subtract 3 Aguilar, Maritnez, and Brown because they are shooort. The rest did well. Can you match? Plus I am speaking of all your "great TAILBACKS" who couldn't run the rock at the next level.
I agree with Aram if Bishop had a horse, a line, a QB, skill guys, defensive players, a Coach, and facilities they would be good.
right now LA just needs a coach.
Aram,
what are the D-1 recruiters looking for?
What's most important?
Hey, I liked the guy. I remember him making a game winning catch against Redlands that was nearly impossible. Still ranks as one of the greatest plays I've ever seen. But he overachieved for his size. He wasn't your prototype D-1 recruit. I'm saying Amat needs a horse.
Getherall ran a 4.23 and averaged over twenty yards a catch. He had 250 yrds in the carson game and made game winning catches in a couple others. He had a kick off return and punt return for a touchdown against fountain valley in the first round of CIF playoffs. He was a BIG TIME skill player.
LA's home crowd against last season against Damien was as good as its been since the 2003 championship season. Granted, I wasn't at every BA or LA game this year, but it was a bigger crowd than I saw at the Amat games I covered.
I think that if Amat somehow went 4-1 or 5-0 in the nonleague or had some big name skill player, the crowd would dwarf anything in the SGV.
By the way, if you're looking for a reason for Amat's fall, look no further than the fact it hasn't had a big time skill player in years. No freak/D-1 RBs, QBs or WRs. Please don't say Getherall. Maybe Wells this year can be that guy, but they have to get him the ball. When Amat gets that big time skill player like Brown or McCleskey or Sermons again, then it can jump back into the big time.
The difference, saladbar, is that Joey Getherall, Mazio Royster, Scott Fields,& Ron Brown made it and the closest that you would get would be IF you drive to San Diego to watch the Chargers!
Royster stuck around long enough to collect that NFL pension, so I'm sure that he has no worries.
And to be clear - the "next level" from HS is college. If you call being a two time starting fullback and second leading reciever at USC (Sermons) not "making it at the next level", then how many of these can you now subtract from your list?
Dennis Sproul 73',Randy Hertel 76',Steve Lauter, Blake Smith 81' ,Mike Smith 82', Ken Lopez 86', Jason Martin 88', Cory Desanti 96', Shaun Cody 99', Felipe Aguilar 00', Ramon Martinez 00', Shaun Cody 00', Sal Ortiz 01', Brigham Harwell 02', Randall Brown 03', Brigham Harwell 03'
Bieniemy was Player of the Year, which is why his jersey hangs in the hall of fame of the amat palace that they call the "student activity center" (also known as the downfall of amat sports - but that's for another time). Being Player of the Year is the amat standard for retriement-nothing less.
POTY - is yours there? Just guessing : )
And for the poster that questioned whether or not Cody would have made it to USC if he had stayed at Damien, I'll leave you with this former Spartan - Jonathan Himebauch. It sure didn't hurt him!
Speaking of the Santa Clarita powerhouses, Canyon recently lost their coach (Harry Welch). I transferred to St. Margarets. He told the newspaper that he was tired of the school's administration. This comes after back-to-back CIF titles and that state championship against De La Salle. At least he was honest about the school's principal.
Actually, LA split a two game match-up with then D-10 Lompoc a couple years ago.
Does LA really not have a strong following, even with all that success? Why is that?
Bishop Amat- D1 Vs. Los Al- D1, Valencia- D2, Carson- LA City Section City Division(D1), Vista- CIF San Diego Section D1... Los Altos- D6.
LA's Pro List.
bluorca
Eric Bienemy won the most roided High School player of the year in 1985.
Then he won the Barry Bonds largest head award in 1986.
POTY
What List?
Your right Bishop is a parochial school they SHOULD Be Dominating the Public Schools let's see how they have been doing lately:
2004- B.A. 33 Vista 39
B.A. 7 Valencia 45
B.A. 6 Los Alamitos 52
2005- B.A. 21 Valencia 35
2006-B.A. 37 Valencia 59
B.A. 16 Hart 39
B.A. 13 Carson 21
Only one d-1 school here. Plus you lost to a City Section team the shouldn't even late you guys back in the SGV
Where's your list saladdays? Nuff Said!!!
"historians?"
Give me a break...
Amat has all their "records" posted on the web for all to see, if you can figure out how to use Google.
http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:UVEJJb4l3pIJ:www.bishopamat.org/PDF%2520files/Lancer%2520history.pdf+LANCER+FOOTBALL+HISTORY+AND+RECORDS&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
Although, it doesn't look like it's been updated since 2002............Hmmmmmmmmmm. Wonder why that is????????
POTY and JOE AMAT know their Amat history. I've told ya'll before, Amat has the most informed historians because Amat football is indeed like university level football. There are many a fan that have been following and attending games for DECADES.
You LA guys should know that there is no way you will be able to match or even come close to matching POTY's list which was subsidized by Joe Amat's....Which is probably why know no one from LA has made an attempt. This is because of two reasons....
The first reason is that Amat has been a football farm that has competed at the highest level in the southern section since the early 70's. POTY was correct when he stated that 4A and then Big 5 was the equivalent of Div 1 back in the 70's-80's. Being a parochial school and having the ability to draw players from anywhere, it's natural that Amat would have more players that would make a name for themselves in high school, then college, then the NFL.
The second reason is that Los Altos (nor any other SGV school) does not have the same fan following as Amat does so an actual Los Altos historian is going to be difficult to find. If you noticed, most of the LA historians on here can only post info from the Cody era until now. The majority of LA fans only follow LA football while they attend or their kids attend the school. After graduation....they, like many, stop following Los Altos football. If you do not believe me I encourage you to go to any Los Altos game and see how many people actually attend. Last year, for example, the Los Altos vs. St. Francis was considered a huge matchup....yet there was probably not even 400 people in attendance. I think this is going to be an absolute shock to McBride who at Amat, was used to playing in front of at least 3000 fans. Anyone ever been to an Amat vs. St. Paul game? Or Amat vs. Servite? Heck, I know the Amat vs. OL game is going to have at least 5000 people in attendance.
So ya'll can stop trying to argue with the Amat historians...Trust me, they know more than you and more than likely they've been following Amat and SGV football for at least 2 decades.
P.S. Didn't Eric Bienemy win CIF player of the year in 86? How about 85?
C'mon, Joey Getherall, Mazio Royster, Sott fields, Ron Brown they all suck the only thing the have in common is that they can't hold onto the football. If I drive to San Diego and watch the Chargers for three hours I would have been in the league longer then half these guys.
Why don't you add Rodney Sermons and every other over hyped, overrated Bishop tailback that couldn't do it on the next level.
I didn't say Bishop was all boys. I was just trying to be politically correct and not be insensitive. We all know the lancer boys love the sausage.
I've been saying that from the begining, nothing but respect for LA.
What an awesome statement of respect for Los Altos that they are being compared to the great powerhouse of Bishop Amat. I grew up in the SGV and Bishop has ALWAYS been a power. The fact that a D6 school is even i the same conversation with them says TONS about LA.
Keep the comparisons coming Lancers...you'll win, but no matter what, it makes us look good!
BTW, that question isn't why doesn't Los Altos schedule Amat but rather why would Amat WANT to schedule a D6 opponent? You don't see Los Altos schedule D10 opponents do you?
LA
Mike Smith (LA '82) played football, and basketball, and volleyball at LA, but only played basketball at BYU. He was drafted by the Celtics, and now announces for the Clippers.
He also set CIF football records for passing yardage (over 4000, breaking Haden's record), attempts, completions, and the single-game record for TDs (8) in '82.
Salladdays
Last time I checked the only All-boys school in the area was Damien. Since you want to do a comparison I have another one for you. Tribune Player of the Year.
Wow, D6 awards, gotta love that at LA. Anyways saladdays, You and I both know LA doesn't match up to Amat. We can do this all day, and I'll give you another chance to fill in the players from my first post. Go ahead. If you cant do that, then try this one...

Once again saladdays, go ahead and try. But I know My list will be longer, and my girl does know that. You know my girl, you were in her for 9 months, and I'm in her every nite. I am from Amat which is Co-Ed, I forgot you're (not your)from LA, that means both girls and boys attend the school.
For your information CIF starting awarding Offensive and Defensive players of the year in 1996.
I know it been a while since Bishop has won anything.
Not your fault.
In 2000 Aguilar and Martinez tied for Offensive player and Cody won Defensive.
As for your Girl I'm sorry once again forgot your from Bishop should have said your BOY
So Los Altos had a 3 way tie for CIF-SS Div.6 Player of the Year? Felipe Aguilar 00', Ramon Martinez 00', Shaun Cody 00'??? and you're telling me to get my facts straight? I'm not talking about MVP of the LA team, or the SGV Tribune, I'm talking about CIF-SS.... Good try... Good comment about my girl saladdays. Real mature... lol
Sorry bout that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 4A in the 70's and BIG 5 in the 80's would be the equivalent to DIV. I.
CIF-SS PLAYERS OF THE YEAR:

POTY,
Your facts are way off, in the 70's and 80's their was no CIF-SS DIV. I. Because you are division one now, doesn't grandfather then in.
BISHOP AMAT Can put up a list
CIF-SS DIV. I
PLAYERS OF THE YEAR:
1970 PAT HADEN
1970 JOHN McKAY, JR
1971 JOHN SCIARRA
1983 RANDY TANNER
1990 JASON PATTERSON
1992 WILLHANS ILI
1994 DAYLON MCCUTCHEON
1995 RALPH BROWN
Mike Smith, was that the same Mike Smith that was a stand out two sport player at BYU, then decided to go pro in basketball and played for the Boston Celtics.
Greg Gano 2003 ABC-7 Coach of the Year.
. . . Not D-6, ABC-7.
YES PERNELL FROM THE 80'S WILL BE AT AMAT THIS FALL. YOU CAN BET THAT THERE WILL BE A LOT OF IMPROVEMENTS!
p.s. Is Godinez still w/the Washington Redskins?
For those of you who forgot the was life At L.A. before Cody:
Dennis Sproul 73'
Randy Hertel 76'
Steve Lauter, Blake Smith 81'
Mike Smith 82'
Ken Lopez 86'
Jason Martin 88'
Cory Desanti 96'
these are CIF players of the year before Cody. Can Bishop make such a list? Also Coach Despain didn't cheat and wasn't scared of anybody back then unlike the current staff.
Amat coaching staff source: J.Drake was not making the grades.
J.Drake played for Ontario before moving to H.H., which he then played for the Rowland Raiders.
Ulibari's dad OWNED the LA Fitness?!? The only iron Ulibari look like he pumped was his fork at the dinner table.
LAC,
You're forgetting:
Dylan Aquino- UCLA
Corey DeSanti- WASSU
Bobby Godinez- SJSU
Many forget that Travis Parker was a standout at Georgia Tech.
Is it true Pernell Taylor will be coaching at AMAT next year???
Here is a class individual that knows what tradition is all about, that was a time when tradition was at it's peak. He would bring a lot to the coaching staff at Amat as long as Verti utilizes him.
Let me ask all Amat haters this. Who was the last great QB that Amat had. Let get back to the smash mouth football that starts on the line and Taylor would be able to show these RB's how to run someone over. In the early 80's he was featured on the news as a Hershal Walker type running back. Pound it out, run over you or just run by you. He was able to do it all.
As for LA, they will be fine and compete for a CIF title again. I hear McBride is a studd around campus, he will do great.
Support both of these schools.
But, I for one would like for Gano to stop dodging Amat and play them. I have heard his reasoning but the people want it.
Msgr. Carroll must go!!!!!!!!
POTY,
I still think that dropping into the Sierra League is appropriate. You mentioned that Amat has missed the playoffs only four times since 1980. With those seasons of 99, 00, 05, 06. Well, that means they made it 18-19 years in a row, but have missed it four out of the past eight seasons. How has Amat done during the years that they did make the playoffs, certainly not up to Amat standards. Look, I'm not an Amat guy but I certainly know that Amat is not satisfied merely MAKING the playoffs. Amat wants to win the playoffs, but that is just unlikely in the forseeable future. There are a few divisions Amat would not win (Pac-5, Northern, Northeast -- as long as Oaks Christian is dominant). I think the Inland or Western division would be a good fit, at least until Amat rebuilds a CIF championship tradition.
Amatnever, The post is about two HS Football Programs, not two Cities.
New York, Moving down a Division , I don’t know if that’s the answer to Amats problems. Since 1980, they’ve only missed the Div. I Playoffs 4 times. That was 99, 00, 05, 06 seasons. You just don’t drop down a Division because you don’t make the playoffs 2 years in a row. If that was the case, you’d have a never ending re-alignment of Leagues and Divisions. There’s over 500 schools in CIF-SS. Not a chance.
Joe, I kept the list on HS achievements. I didn’t leave anybody out on purpose. Don’t get me wrong, All those guys are Great. Only Sciarra, Royster, and Jackson were All-CIF on your list. It’s just a list to prove my point. I could easily throw out a lot more names on the list. Here’s a few more, 1974 JIM LABOUFF, 1992 RODNEY SERMONS, 1995 BOOKER BELL, DENNIS WYRICK 1997, 2001 WESLEY WALKER, 2005 JONATHON CORNELL,
LUVTHISGAME, I can see the similarities of Amat and Russia, lol. That’s sounds right. I’m all for a new change at Amat. The Change has to come from the top. “Carroll” Once he’s gone, I can see Amat getting back in the mix at the Pac-5 Div. and hopefully State and National Ranks to follow, but I know, they're a long way from that happening. As for LA, reloading??? Now that’s questionable. They do have talent at the school and they do well with the athletes that they get. Like I said B4, I have much respect for the Los Altos Football Program. I have friends that played there, and I have friends that coached there.
I compare LA and AMAT to the USA and USSR.
LA, like the USA constantly reload and reinvent themselves. They both have thrived on homegrown and imported talent. The leadership of both is often questioned or considered suspect, but their end results usually meet their preset goals.
Amat, like Russia were both stuck in their own history and tradition, never looking to the future and adapting to it. Both brought in leadership that lead to their ultimate demise, but they both still hold on to the memories of their once dominate, former selves.
Painful but true, is it not?
Pretty good when players like those below can't make your list. You might want to rethink a couple of choices
John Sciarra - UCLA All American, Rose Bowl MVP, 6 yr
NFL vet
Adrian Young - All American at USC , 6 yr NFL vet
Brian Russell- 6 yr NFL vet & present starting safety for the
Cleveland Browns
Brian Kelly - 8 yr CFL vet, top 5 in many recieving categories
Paul McDonald - All-American at USC; 7 year NFL vet w/
Cleveland Browns/Dallas
Mazio Royster - 2 yr starting fullback at USC (1,000+yds 1 yr)
4 yr NFL vet with Tampa Bay/Jacksonville
John Jackson - 6th all-time receptions at USC, 4 yr NFL vet
and don't leave out
Punter-JR Phillips (turned down USC to sign w/ SF Giants)
am I leaving anyone out?
Amat and LA both have tremendous tradition. But only LA is in the proper division. Amat is no longer a CIF title contender. They need to drop down a division or two. Amat is still the toughest team to beat in the SGV, but that is not enough to win a Pac-5 title. Join the Sierra or Mission league. Or, get more aggressive with your recruiting. Amat used to carry the torch for the SGV. Now, they are the best team that loses early in the playoffs.
Ok POTY I'll try to give it a shot.

Very impressive I didn't realize LP produced that much talent. What mid-school did these players attend?
HHfan maybe the kids that are soon to be senior should work harder cuz there are people better out there. they just gotta step up there game. they cant be satisfied for starting at LA. there are far better skewl out there. pick up thats what they should do.
To all the Los Altos Fans out there. As a former Amat Alum and HS football fan, I have to say that I have much respect for LA and their football program. LA has a lot of talent year in and year out. It's safe to say that LA has become one of the premier HS Football programs in the SGV and in the Southern Section.
Ok, I have a few issues to address, but I'll only touch on these. I don't compare LA to Amat, theres really no comparison. Amat has its ups and downs just like every other team in the country. Amat plays at a different level than anybody outside the program could even imagine. What I mean is that playing at Amat is like playing at Notre Dame. There's a pressure to win every game, every year. There's no other program in the SGV with that pressure. No doubt about it, the Division I College atmosphere at game time is kinda scarry for a teenager. But thats the pressure the Amat Football players and coaches have to deal with. Now there are some LA fans who keep comparing LA and Amat.
That being said, I dare any Los Altos Fan, or any other HS's in the SGV to put up their ALL-TIME HS FIRST TEAM against my All-AMAT Team...

GOOD LUCK!!!
Interesting stats-I can't believe amnot even losses
coin tosses.Maybe you should recruit that NFL ref that made the wrong call in the play-offs a couple years ago.
Hey 73, as long as you keep playing top teams-amnot will stay a sub.500 team-unless the recruiting kicks up, I mean you keep your recruits.
all right just stop whinning grow up bunch of haters on each other everyone one on here can bark but they wont bite first of all diamond ranch had the hardest schedule in the sgv they played edison, chino hills, servite, oaks christian....amat you guys havent brought a cif title in a while and you guys have a good group of guys regardless of schedule, charter oak you guys had one of the best teams in the valley last year but el dorado shut you guys out, los altos kept up longer with el dorado than you guys i went to both games and trust me i saw it....im not talking crap but facts are facts everyone can bark but they wont bite
HHfan
AMAT at .500 is still a far superior team to any of your HH teams . But we will never know because of lack of courage by your HH teams to back up the talk where it should be settled . ON THE FIELD. Maybe they should take a lesson from a .500 team and step up and play the top teams as we do year after year whether it be in league or preseason. You have to admit we are the only team in the valley who thru the years in preseason and league have the tuffest schedule although I do see where a few teams have played some top teams like West Covina against Mater Dei. I would rather be .500 team knowing I put myself against the best than an untested wannabe.
CO and SO are going to beat the cra- out of LA this year...LA does not have team this year ..we know it and they know it......so stop comparing yourself to BA until you can show up to play us first...either one of us......your program is falling and you blog yourself to death trying to say how good you are.....what losers.
You got me. Defending state Champs. that should clear that up
Let me get this, the OL that LA played was up and coming the one that you are going to play next year is the state champions. I thought this years team won the state championship, not next years team.
King Of The SGV? I know this is long but please read EVERYTHING.
Again, this debate has been raging for years and I know that this blog has only added fuel to this fire of LA vs. BA. Everyone knows that I'm biased of course. But I would never make anything up or say anything that is not obvious for all to research and agree/disagree with me. We all know that BA has proven time and time again that she is not scared to schedule any school. Even LA fans have to agree much to their distaste that Gano and co. have yet to take on a good Div 1 school in their preseason. The fact is that no one can remember the last time LA scheduled a good Div 1 school. You would think that with all of their Div 6 championships (which were all well deserved) that LA would at least try to schedule someone of value. Well, this has not happened yet...Chino Hills (Mission Viejo), West Covina (Mater Dei), Damien (St.John Bosco,Amat), Glendora (Amat), Charter Oak (Amat) have all recently played great Pac-5 competition. The last school to claim that they are King of the SGV would be Los Altos....whose most difficult team they have faced in their preseason recently has been St. Francis.
One only needs to skip on over to Maxpreps and compare scores of common opponents of BA and LA over the last 3 years. LA fans love to say that BA is not what it used to be and that the program is in trouble....well check these stats out guys...
2004
...This very young Amat team beat Santa Margarita,Servite...Lost to Loyola,SJB, Mater Dei....Got whacked in the 2nd round by Los Alamitos .
LA 20, Damien 18
Amat 41, Damien 27 (maxpreps has the box scoring wrong...this was an Amat rout)
LA 24, Charter Oak 21
Amat 28, Charter Oak 0
2005
....Amat team matures and beats Loyola (Div 1 Champs),Mater Dei...Loses to SM,Servite, SBJ. Did not make the playoffs because of coin flip loss.
Charter Oak 31, LA 13
Amat 34, Charter Oak 7
Damien 42, LA 35
Amat 31, Damien 3
2006
...Amat has new coach, 18 non-senior starters, Lost starting RB in game 2 (Gaisie ran for 264 yards in 2 games which is more than half of McBride's total for entire season)
St. Francis 19, LA 12
Amat 29, St. Francis 28
*now I know that the above scores were close but I will choose Aram's words when he said that Amat beat St. Francis with only a shell of Amat's team due to injuries. The following scores prove this...
Amat 10, Chaminade 7
Chaminade 40, St. Francis 17
Amat 26, St. Paul 23 (WITH standout RB Grisby)
St. Paul 21 (WITHOUT Grisby), St. Francis 9
If Amat's program is in trouble...LA's program is already a corpse. Sure Cody's team was awesome and LA does have many more championships under her belt...but year for year its obvious that Amat would beat LA probably 8 out of 10 years. But even this is subject to debate in Amat's favor because of LA's unwillingness to schedule anyone of value.
HH Fan,
No, it is not the same team. OL is deeper and expanding its student base. You played the up and coming O Lu. We will be playing the established, State champion O Lu.
AMAT 73,
Is that the same OL that LA played in the championship game and won a few years ago. O I forgot LA hasn't won in years, and Amat is going on DECADES, stop living in the past. WE ARE AMAT and .500.
None,
Get it straight . The only reason for the game would be to show the people the difference between D-1 and D6 .We do not compare ourselves to la they compare themselves to AMAT. Also we have OL on our schedule this coming season so we will see . Our last year in the Serra league we beat MD and Loyola and I believe our lifetime record over them and SM is more wins than losses. But please do not insult us by saying we compare ourselves to la and by the way we have never lost our pride . WE ARE AMAT .
Amat play the JV teams of every OC school that will play you. You'll be undefeated and then what?
Claiming you're the best og the SGV means absolutely nothing if CIF Championships is what you're all about.
Concebtrate on next year rather than what happened a decade or two ago....you know I've never meet an Amat alum that actually won a Championship and started for Bishop.
Living Legend,
Well put . I could not have said it any better then you did.
There is a simple answer why Los Altos doesn't play Bishop Amat.
DIV 6 vs. Div I....Amat you should be ahamed of yourselves. Have you fallen that hard that you compare yourselves to a Div 6 school as a way to recapture your lost pride....beat Carson this year....they will be stacked and you play them there.......ohhh yyyyyyeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhh!
There are NO GREAT TEAMS IN THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY.....UNDERSTAND THAT!!!!!
N.O.N.E.
Norco is great, Orange Lutheran is great, Mission Viejo is great, Mater Dei is tough, Loyola is tough...but there are NO GREAT TEAMS IN SGV!
Oh Yeah,
No problem...I unlike some of these people still realize that Amat is the best the valley has to offer...I see it this way if you want to be the Champ you have to beat the Champ...and no public school in this valley is beating Amat...Charter Oak had the best shot a couple of years ago (in terms of talent) and they got stomped...LA is not the class of the valley, they dont even dominant their league (even when they have the best talent in that league they end up losing to either Bonits or CO)...There is a reason they dont schedule Bishop and the reason is Gano understands if you go and play Bishop and get stomped (like you would) then those transfers stop coming
Living legend,
I forgot about barnes. He went to Amat too.We were well represented in that league that year in 1996
Um La Conq i will kill your arguement...Ulliberri got in trouble at Amat and was asked to leave...so he went to the public school down the street from his house(by the way he wanted to goto LA first but the wanted him to play a different postion and sit behind Barnes at QB, good decsion LA, so he went to Wilson and won back-2-back championships)...Drake could not afford to goto bishop anymore so he went to the school across the street from his house...how funny is this when a two former LA freshmen coachs use to coach sports at the two feeder schools for Wilson..one of them is your head basketball coach...how do i know ths cause i went to mesa and he tried to get me to goto LA...sorry buddy but the truth LA has always recruited way back to the days of Despain
Joe ..what?
Do you know all the signees?
May 1 was the day to sign wasn't it?
Duh?,
No one forgot about these kids already.
http://www.insidesocal.com/aram/archives/2007/02/signing_day.html#comments
They signed to play college football in 2007
Umodu and Austin are the first (that we know of) to have offers for 2008!
Aram when is a list going to be made of ALL the SGV signings?
That would be interesting to see.
Another interesting thread might be BEST OVERALL SGV ATHLETE?
Jon Joe?
Phillip Chase?
Mark Mendrun?
There must be others....swimmers included. Maybe the other bloggers might suggest other outstanding multi sport SGV Athletes.
If you are going to go their with Cody, then about 75% of LA's team is transfers. I saw last years freshman team and know well over 75% of those kids didn't come from Newton, Orange Grove or Mesa (most of Mesa should go to Wilson) base on the Hacienda Blvd rule.
Glad to hear Austin has a D-I scholarship. Heard he was at Cal last year...maybe his first choice?
Too bad Damien did not play Amat this year I would have loved to see Austin vs. Luiten or John Rabe...hell I'd really like to see Austin against Walsh.
That's what separates Damien from Bishop Amat in terms of sports....But I still wouldn't trade Damien's intangibles of ....quality students, quality teachers, quality education and quality of life. Every school isn't for every student. We just pray that the school our kids attends becomes an avenue for long term growth and lasting friendships.
All you Austin fans, of which I'm one, get ready for another Austin talent at Bishop Amat....his kid sister.
Congrats Mr. Austin.
A little off track but on a good note,
I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to the Miramonte top 5 and to all the other league top 5's. (The Miramonte 5 are the five top scholar athletes from each school.) You have proven that you have what it takes to be both a scholar and an athlete.
I went to the Miramonte 5 banquet last week, where we honored the accomplishments of these 25 bright young men and women from our five schools.
To hear their principals talk about each student and the things they have done over the last four years was very interesting.
These kids work hard at their grades and at their sport, some involved in multiple sports throughout the year. Most had a GPA of 3.8 or higher, a lot higher, we had football, baseball, swim and tennis, golf, basketball and track. You name the sport and we had them there. We had Valedictorians, Volunteers,ASB presidents, even Homecoming Kings and Queens. Each of them an athlete AND a scholar.
The most exciting part was hearing what their plans were for the future. All of them going to college to get that education that is so important and some to continue playing sports.
These kids are the future and they nade me so proud.
Congratulations to the parents you should be proud..
LA Conq,
Uliberry is from the hacienda heights area. His dad owned the LA fitness that was there. Drake lived in Hacienda heights. He played for the cougars too. Los Altos wasn't a major player back then or maybe they would have transferred there.
HHfan-
Once again you provide bad information. You are correct, Cody grew up in Hacienda Heights, but last time I checked there were TWO high schools in Hacienda Heights...LA and Wilson. Cody grew up on the Wilson side. He CHOSE to come to LA rather than Wilson, where he geographically should have gone...therefore he was not from the LA area. He wasn't recruited. All his buddies from Youth football were coming to LA and he wanted to join them. Stop pretending like you know the story. You've probably never even met the guy.
Funny how you had no response to the Caines, Uliberry, etc. comment. "It's the Player not the Program" is right...by your definition everyone recruits. Let's all admit the system has loopholes and just get over it.
who cares-
LA won a CIF title 5 years ago...please name me all the SGV teams that have won a CIFSS Football title since then and we'll figure out how much of a "failure" LA is. Go ahead...start listing them. Let's hear about all those teams that are more successful.
While you're at it please list all the SGV coaches that have won multiple CIF rings in the last 10 years...oh I forgot...you don't care. That must be why you took the time to come on this blog and write a response.
Rooseveltalum78-
Seriously bro...that was almost unrecognizable as English. Not a good representative of that RHS education. For God's sake you mispelled the name of your own school (rosevelt???)
Your serve ladies.
Did we forget about these kids already?
http://www.insidesocal.com/aram/archives/2007/02/signing_day.html#comments
Congratulations go out to Bishop Amat's Dominique Austin was got is first offer...according to Greg Biggins of Student Sports Magazine.
The University of Arizona is the first school to offer the student-athlete. He becomes the second player from the SGV to be offered a D-1 scholarship.
The other being South Hills' defensive tackle Kebin Umodu (Oregon and Utah). Once again, the D-1 colleges have figured out the players from the SGV are just as good as the players from the OC.
Alanis Morrisette,
Real Simple, more COACHING less recuriting. I see lots of other programs in the valley that are very sucessful with more coaching less recuriting.
If you want to give Gano the title of Head Recuriter then recurit. Last I checked he was the Head Coach.
HH Fan I could not agree more...I'm sorry ...what was your point? lol
That happens. It's unfair. It's like being great looking and losing your hair. It's like winning the lotto and then getting a life sentence the next day. It's like rain on your wedding day. Meeting the women of your dreams and then meeting her husband. I don't know if that's "ironic" but ....I'm sorry was that your point?
LA Conq,
Check your facts Cody lived in Hacienda Heights all his life. A matter a fact he played youth football with the Cougars of Hacienda Heights, the one year he could make weight. I believe Harwell lived in Hacienda Heights then moved to Chino. I don't have a problem with kids wanting to move from other schools to get a shot to win, but I guess I just know too much.
When I have a family member of one of the Amat transfers come up to me and tell how great Gano is. Gano guaranteed this kid the starting spot. The child was still attending Amat and already had the starting job at Los Altos. What is real said about this is the returning players don't even get a real shot at competing for the spot. That’s one example I know of many others that are even worse than that one.
By my screen name yes I am a Hacienda Heights fan. I want the kids of Hacienda Heights to get a shoot to play varsity ball at Los Altos. Los Altos is the power house of the area, yes Los Altos not Amat. I know too many kids that worked their way through the program to sit on the bench their senior year being replaced by one of Gano's recruits. These kids deserve better. I am not a Wilson fan but if I had a child attending high school in Hacienda Heights I probably would send him to Wilson. I would like to send him to Los Altos but in fear of him being replaced by one of Gano's recruits his senior year and chattering his dreams, no thanks.
WHO CARES or SO WHAT!!!!! if LA high school recruits they have not won a CIF title in a while
so there so called recruits arent that good....
Want to end the Gano debate...does Cody get to USC from Damien?
I don't think so.
So am I getting this right, amnot players leave to go somewhere else and play and LA gets kids transfering in?
WORD IS OUT THAT PARNELL TAYLOR OF THE AMAT 80'S TEAM IS COMING TO COACH AT BISHOP AMAT. HE HAS ENROLLED HIS SON FOR THIS FALL. GO LANCERS!
So this is where the scuds have been-out recruiting!
Dear jhkyron or whom ever you are, probably a coach at the school that allways looses, but its o.k. we still love you and now I know you dont know the score, or you are a flat out lying sack of s&%t, these coaches have booth said these things and its the truth.
whats the difference they are not there anyway, so whats it matter.
slander, if these characters could be stand up men then they would not put ass kissers up to do thier excusses but every kid in these schools know the truth so you are either a coach or a straight up liar.
so which one are you, as you type your response think about who you are and why you lie, what is your gain.
Wow you guys do not know the Cody story. Shaun Cody grew up in Hacienda Heights and went to middle school in HH. He indeed went to Damien his freshmen year and didn't really like the fact that it was an all boys school. He wanted to go back to where he wanted to go in the first place and be with all of his friends that he grew up with. To say Gano recruited him to go to LA is ridiculous. It was Cody's own decision and it turned out for the best.
how do u think Monrovia is going to do now that their d-1 seniors are gone???
EVERYBODY recruits, private, and public. Get over it.
Next subject please...
To set the record striaght Cody went to damien first cause he played freshmen football there....and then he showed up at Los Altos the summer before his sophmore season...and to think LA does not recruit is fooling yourself...it might not be Gano directly but he does hire coachs who can get kids to that school...dont believe me they why is the rb coach there...i'll tell you why cause he brought his brother and 2 others from west covina back in 98-99. dont believe me go ask the coachs over at west covina
Don't forget seanez and the other casteneda. Who were the others?
get it right:
"every Amat guy that has transferred to Los Altos has started"
This is not true. Ordonez, Castaneda, and Maciel (now McBride and maybe Tillis) are just the kids you hear about. There have been others who didn't do as well.
jeffrulerson:
"You seem like you might know the answer to this, and I'm curious: When did Cody transfer to and from Damien? All I know is he played on the varsity basketball team at Damien as a freshman. Thanks."
IIRC, I think he finished his Freshman year at Damien and re-enrolled at LA over the summer. I don't remember how long his first stint at Los Altos was, as I didn't pay as much attention to the team in '97-'98. Word was it was his father wanted him to go to Damien (and Notre Dame in College), but let him make his own decision.
oops
your program
Nobody likes amat because you're program is like a parasite in the SGV. amat can pick, and choose which player(s) they wish to offer "financial aid" to, in exchange for their playing ability, from anywhere in Socal (mostly SGV). It's an apples/oranges comparison to any public school in the SGV anymore. The player depth in the SGV just isn't what it used to be back in the day. amat just has a better chance to skim the cream from the available top players.
The players you try to take credit for, that reach the college/pro level, do so on their own ability, not because of your fantastic four year coaching program. Take any of your "amat miracles”, and plug them into programs such as SH, LA, CO, and the result will be the same. A college ride.
If you think any different, you're only fooling yourself.
Jhykron,
You seem like you might know the answer to this, and I'm curious: When did Cody transfer to and from Damien? All I know is he played on the varsity basketball team at Damien as a freshman. Thanks.
get it right:
"Cody was at Damien first."
No he was at Los Altos first. Then transferred to Damien, then back to LA before his sophmore year.
I still do not get the Los Altos Backers and this hard on they have for Amat Football..Is it because you have to measure your program against ours to feel like you are acheiving something out there?...Last I looked Cody is no longer there and Harwell is gone ..what the heck have you guys produced?..where did Ira Thomas end up going? and is Big Nick getting any offers.?...You talk about Amat being so bad and going nowhere but something to think about..your team is in a down and rebuilding year and Amat is bringing a well experienced team back this year..but it does not matter we have to face the best but if LA was at the same playing division as Amat they get rocked every year and that includes your glory years and those low d-6 championships. Amat Whips you even back then...keep talking because you will find out this season is not going to be kind to you. Coin toss entry into last yeas playoffs..this year not so lucky..NO PLAYOFFS FOR YOUR TEAM.
LA Conq,
Those years are when six or seven Amat guys transferred in a two year span and went undefeated at Wilson for two years. Amat didn't miss those players though. They had faster and more talented players to step in unlike in recent years.
Also,
Thanks for making our point that Amat guys can transfer to an area high school and dominate. But you would know that seeing that every Amat guy that has transferred to Los Altos has started.
BTW
Cody was at Damien first.
HHfan,
Be careful of wanting us to drop divisions in football . Just think if they put us in your divison . that would your worst nightmare knowing the road to your title must go thru AMAT which would stop you in your tracks. As you can see it was a mistake dropping us in baseball and it would be an even bigger mistake in football. because if they did it then you people would just cry that it is unfair for us to play in the lower divisions and we don't belong there. either way people like you will always have something to cry or complain about us.
All you lonely baseball fans can keep posting here:

HHfan-
If winning League and CIF Championships which entices area players to leave their schools and transfer into Los Altos so they can be successful is considered "recruiting" then Gano is guilty as charged! The man has done nothing but win, win, win since he's been here and that's what kids want to be associated with. Cody, Harwell, Drayton, Brown...none of these kids are from the LA area but all of them CHOSE to come to LA because they wanted to be winners. And they were! Winning and Recruiting are two very different things!
By the way, I assume from your screen name and your contempt for Los Altos that you are a Wilson fan (I may be wrong on this though). I'm just wondering if you've ever heard of a coach named Tom Caines and some kids named Chris Uliberry, Jeremy Drake, and Percy Arceneux (RIP)? If not, do some research and then come back at me with allegations of LA recruiting.
SORRY....PERNELL....FOOTBALL
WORD IS OUT THAT PARNELL TAYLOR OF THE AMAT 80'S TEAM IS COMING TO COACH AT BISHOP AMAT. HE HAS ENROLLED HIS SON FOR THIS FALL. GO LANCERS!
Patrick---if we both win out the rest of our league games, we finished tied for 1st,and will be crowned co-league champs. I think they get the 1st place seed going into playoffs---because Chino took 2 of 3 in head-to-head play against us, and we'd get the 2nd place slot from the sierra league. I could be wrong though.......in any case, we gotta nail down these last 3 games!
HHFan,
You seem to have a really good knowledge of the SGV based on your vast experience with the youth football teams in the area.
You could probably tell us what the rest of the SGV's record against amat over that past decade that amat hasn't done anything?
Enlighten us, then we'll understand why the .500 team should not be considered among the best in the valley.
What I find real interesting is any football topic on this blog ends up talking about Gano's recruiting tactics and Amat's superiority, or lack of.
When ever the work RECRUITING is mention GANO or LOS ALTOS is in the same sentence.
Then we have the Amat, it been over a decade since you have really done anything. Maybe you should do what your baseball team did, drop down to D5. Please don’t insult our intelligence a .500 team is the best in SGV.
If im correct , if things hold out and we win the rest our league games, we would get the tie-breaker, being that Chino, would have lost to Chino Hills and Damien, and with DB's 3 losses , 2 coming from Chino ,and 1 from Damien??
Can somebody clarify? Thnx
can we please talk abbout local baseball? playoffs are around the corner! league champs are coming to the surface! mvps? all league? come on! i have seen alot of s.a.l. bball this year. lets get it to the next level!
TO: ITS BASEBALL SEASON
write what you must, say what you feel...don't hold back, just lay it out there......Don't feel left out, the boundaries here are pretty far stretched, and imaginary for sure.....
As far as my Jack off post,....he deserved and got, every poorly written word of it. Notice there was no reply from him.
I see DB stays number 2 in the poll, gotta say I didn't care much for the "Damien loss was shocking" line underneath it........wasn't it Damien who beat #1 Chino yesterday? Yes I believe it was, 7 to 6. Looks like that .500 team had alittle something extra for both of us this past week...
3 more games to go, tied with Chino for first place, it'd be nice to have yet another banner hanging from the rafters.....take it to 'em Brahmas!
As a Amat backer in all sports I will be the first to say that the Lancer baseball team has really not been tested yet. Easy schedule they have played and in the playoffs they could probably run deep there seeing it is D5 which I still do not favor them playing in but it is what it is.....But as far as the other schools are there any that will get to a championship game. I know SH is good and has the best chance than the rest. WC Nogales LA Bonita Glendora do any of these teams really have a chance come playoff time or are they all going to exit early?...
please amat is too big headed they try and find a way to make their selves seem better then everyone else... all you guys do is ***** and complain about LA sucking. comon you gusy barely beat st.francis...
other then that... i think LA will have a good team this year. freshman dont really matter so stop mentioning them. anygood junion-seniors coming up this season worth talking about from LA?
Aram
Put a baseball thread on now!Worthless shot taking? What the hell do you call retard, jackoff and racist comments about asians and test scores? Yeah real classy, much different than the baseball threads.Every blog is ninety percent classy and ten percent NV fan.Dont punish the whole baseball community for the actions of a few. Many compelling stories right before the playoffs begin,CO fighting to stay in first,NV on an incredible run,Diamond Bar stepping up to slug it out with MIGHTY chino,Bishop Amat still number one with no end of vocal supporters, there will be plenty of time for the neanderthals after baseball season is over.Dont make us have to march on SGV tribune headquarters for our thread!LOL. Seriously tho it is a great season for so many great players, rodriguez, melchor, ponzo, pill, miller,m.oliveras,et al. COME ON ARAM PLAY BALL!
rooseveltalum78 :
That's about the most pathetic attempt at badly formatted slander I've seen on these boards. I will address one thing though:
"The way its coming down both of these coaches have since then bad mouthed both of these kids, saying they are either lazy or too stupid to learn thier system,"
Some board posters here may have said such things (I called one on it), but no coach has badmouthed any of these kids, and you are a malicious liar to even imply this.
Hey Randy,
Your right!!!! Besides Jackoff doesnt no jack$#!+.
He is basically saying that only Asians and the wealthy are smart or capable of getting good grades? Thats a slam on every other ethnic group in the SGV.
Yo Junkie.....Coach Martin is bringing in his peeps, I think he's only got one coach coming back from last year. Spring practice is 2 weeks away....
Hey Jack Off......Ever been into DB's gym? You would be amazed, floored in fact, with what they have accomplished in 25 yrs on the sports end of high school life....Its wall to wall, row after row of league championship banners, and CIF titles....I wanna put the number at 9 CIF titles...4 in FB, 2 in Baseball, alittle soccer, alittle softball, maybe a badminton one too....in 25 years....what has your school got?...I'm damn proud of mine!
This blog is on prep sports and life.....and academics are part of high school life as I recall....I dont know what continuation school you went to, but SAT scores and G.P.A. are stats we should be aware as PARENTS!....
Too much trash talking by a bunch of 40 year old chumps, really what did your kid play as a freshmen, or did he wipe the bench with his #@$, if you really knew mr Dollberry you would not have said a word, he doesnt talk or play like a bi&%$,
The fact is this, the kid had a lot of personnel problems at the same time summer ball was just getting started and being only 14 it was tough.
To add to the situation a few of the want to be senior R.B.'s gave the coach an altumatum, and there we are.
Actually coach gano really liked the kid and if you saw him now 5'9" and a ripped 188lbs you dont think gano wanted that kid.
As for the reciever kid he is faster than anyone on the team and he is smooth, the story of him is thier were alot of bent out of shape parents and players about this kid being there, so he made a few 14 yr old mistakes and they benched him, actually a senior kid and his politicians had as much to do with his being pushed aside as his freshmen mistakes.
The young mr webb was actually the M.V.P of the J.V. team go figure.
Hey lets get real many of the parents and players werent happy about these kids being at these local schools anyway.
The way its coming down both of these coaches have since then bad mouthed both of these kids, saying they are either lazy or too stupid to learn thier system, come on now who are these coaches Daryl Royal or Pete Carrol come on now they are high school coaches that are in a average league at best saying kids arent smart enough for thier system, get real. Great role models here trash talking 14 and 15 year old kids
both these boys still have 3 seasons to go,
Oh for the record terrell won honorable mention as a corner at 14 yrs old by the time these coaches are retired and has been's these kids will be big names.
Aram
148 hits with good intent and good language for the most part.
Baseball is over in two weeks!
Step aside basball fans, here comes football with 200 hits per thread!!!!!!!!
I agree with Jeremey, everytime a Los Altos topic comes up fans from other schools have more to say then the LA fans themselves. Most of them being from Bishop Amat. I dont know what BA's deal is but I guess there's something about LA that threatens BA unlike any other school.
AMATnever,
maybe you need to come and sit with us at the football games. That is where all the true Blues hang. We will get you back on the right track . Jeremy talk is cheap . Until la puts us on the schedule and beats us you will always be behind us. The reason we are concern about the schedule is because we hope by some miracle you step up and play the BIG DOG. That my friend is a challenge.
Amat fans,
haven't you noticed that a majority of this thread has been about LA? Oh and by the way, keeped alive even by non-LA supporters, talking about the LA schedule, LA freshman football team, two LA frosh players!! Just like in another non-team specific thread where the "hot topic" was about the Los Altos QB situation, which again was fed in-part by general SGV football fans. The only reason the Amat QB situation was mentioned, was when you guys started to talk about it, then the topic went back to Tillis, Howing, the Frosh QB, the Soph QB, etc. No one except Amat seems to care about the Amat QB situation, or any of thier Freshman, or the in-coming 9th grade equipment manager from St.Joseph's. However there seems to be quite an interest in what 9th grader the conquerors have coming up, or transfering out.
So those smug comments about being the BIG DOG in the SGV, they are lost on everyone else. You sit there in your little corner and toot your own horn all you want. It appears that the the EAST SGV's team is NOT Amat.
If you guys really don't respect LA, as you say, then why are you so concerned with the non-league schedule?
You sound just as concerned as an LA loyalist such as myself.
Maybe you do respect us. Maybe you know that we are capable of more of a challenge.
API scores? Is this a academics board or sports...Kudos to Diamond Bar, but let's be real, the schools you mentioned...Diamond Bar, Wilson, Los Altos...hmm, highly affluent asian populations...think it's a coincidence? Duh. Don't try to tell me that all the athletes at these schools are a reflection of the api scores at the school. Last I checked, Gano has never had a quarterback with the last name Chong or Gonzales at DB had a Shortstop named Lee. Like I said, this is a fricken sports board...Leave the academic and band leadership awards at Palo Alto with Stanford.
Football Junkie,
Give credit where credit is due, all the schools below are in the top 5% in the USA (AP test scores):
Diamond Bar High ranked 183th
Wilson High ranked 701th
Los Altos High ranked 880th
Rowland High ranked 1046th
These are all the local schools ranked in the top 5% of the USA.
Baseball fans,
Did you notice that the last four baseball threads I started all degenerated into worthless shot-taking and personal attacks? So, I'm hesitant to start another. Take a note from this thread ... for the most part, it's clean and informed discussion.
Randy, great point. That's the difference better coaching and Diamond Bar at least is continuing to try and recapture that greatness. What does his staff look like? Did he bring in his own people thru out the program or are there "left overs" from previous coaching regimes?
Clearly DB's academics are on par with the best if not the best! DB had the highest AP scores on average of any public school in the nation. That's quite the accomplishment!
Ayala looks tough this year. Liked the QB. Diamond Bar just needs time...you can not keep a Champion down forever. This new coach will energize the team. There is a gap in the Sierra League and Chino Hills is doing it's best to fill it as evidenced by their Baseball, Football and Basketball teams. After that it's anyone's game. Glendora, Chino, Ayala and Damien are a true parity league. You're right it's about cycles.
Best of luck to Diamond Bar.
Aram,
keep the football info coming!
I hear several juniors are getting offers. What's the recruiting proccess? I know the letters come with the questionares to be sent back but what happens next? and when?
Evading what question, I root for amnot. I graduated from there and have the pretty lil stickers all over my car. The amnot family? more like the amnot clique. And the only school that has dominated amnot is amnot itself.
Where's baseball talk...come on, football is 4 months away. What gives Aram?
AMAT never, I see you evaded the question .Who do you root for on Friday nights? It is evident you are extremely jealous of anyone that has ties to the AMAT FAMILY. You must be a graduate of some school AMAT has continually dominated to harbor such pent up anger towards us. Do you go around looking for vehicles with an AMAT decal and flip us off to get your jollys.
Hey FB Junkie......Ayala and DB ran the show in the Sierra League prior to this run Damien has had over us, that you pointed out. From '94 to 2001, DB or Ayala (Chino did it 1 yr) made it to the D2 Finals. We ran the show, we ran the table, like no one SGV since.
I know that was a long time ago, but our progran didnt take the nose dive until 2002, we made the playoffs but got shown the door by Mission Viejo two years in a row.
DAMIEN may have our number, but they can't make it to the final table, they can't close the deal, they finish, like we did. They know it isn't there, just like we all do.
We've got a new coach here in DB. His name is John Martin, Rowlands coach prior to Snyder. He set the wheels in motion for last years Rowlands team. Hopefully he can get us back on track.
We have 25 years of proud history that includes a boat load of league championships and 6 CIF titles in Baseball and FB. So just check yourself when you try to dismiss DB as some nobody.
Everything runs in cycles....we'll be back.....we may need to drop down from D2, I agree with that, but we'll be back.........
Congrats to another Lancer on getting drafted into the NFL.
Bluorca,
Your right, LA wants respect, play Amat. It is too bad next years schedule is set, there are some of us that have been calling for it all off season.
LA Fans,
I saw some of your games last year and I do believe that you will have a great year. I spoke to someone from El Dorado and they said that the semi final game against LA was the best game thet had all year, including the championship game. Longoria is going to have a monster year, and he is a quality individual as well.
Rodrigues at TE is a monster and runs over people in the open field. I hope Tillis has been throwing to him all off season.
McBride is a solid running back and a quality individual and will have a solid year behind the LA O-Line.
As for the freshman on the sideline last year, i saw him and asked who he was. Why was he on the side line dressed the way he was, he looked like a punk. He did didn't leave LA fans with a good impression. If he is transferring to St. Paul as I heard. He wont be there long with the rules. As long as St. Paul still hass rules.
As for Amat recruiting,
I am sure that it still goes on. But not to the extent that it used to. Msgr. Carroll is killing the program and inside information is that the scholarships have run dry because of him. Amat will still draw the talent from the area because of who they are and kids will continue to leave because the reputation of Amat is a past reputation because of the great Msgr. Carroll.
Msgr. Carroll must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last comment by "bluorca" was not me...

Damien as an "underdog" in a public school league says it all!
Morrison vs. Bishop Amat 0-3
Morrison vs. Los Altos 1-2
Morrison vs. Chino Hills 1-3
Morrison vs. Chino 1-3
Morrison vs. Glendora 2-2
Morrison vs. Ayala 4-0
Morrison vs Diamond Bar 4-0
MM #14 thanks for starting a dynasty!
I love HS football but my goodness sake this is baseball season!
What's going on with Aram? You will have plenty of summer for football
What's wrong with you guys? Are you that desperate for foothball?
Did you guys spend all six hours listening to the NFL draft?
Of course you did, problaby ordered pizza and called another jar head and pretended this was a game.
Aram,
You can expect Damien to be just as good as we were last year. Our defense has a lot of solid players who know how to lay hat with a stacked D line. I don't know why everyone is saying that our offense will suffer without Eschardies or myself, becuase Danny P.is just as good as i was last year but with better speed. Not to mention we have our stud sophmore receiver Taylor Herrera coming back with running backs Marcus Williams and Ryan Mcmahon.
But you underestimated us last year, which is just how the Spartans like it, being an underdog. So SGV expect another Sierra League title from Damien
What is all this about South El Monte players leaving. Cogburn isn't going anywhere so stop spreading rumors. If kids want to go to private schools that is their right. It's not against rules for private schools to recruite. Wouldn't you send your kid to a private school if you got a break on tuition?
I have heard that there will be approximately 400 students leaving Amat at schools end. Yes folks they are graduating and will no longer be enrolled in school. So Sad.
I am sorry to say that I have received news of many kids leaving Amat this year at schools end. Amat will shine no matter what!
by the way-kids are transferring out of amnot
Damien has great kids but a great football school? .500 over four years with that kind of size and playing in a public school league? And that's 8 wins against Ayala and Diamond Bar? (No offense Randy) Take those "easy" wins away and it really starts to look bad for Damien over the last 4 years.
Don't get me wrong. That's the facts. This year will be Morrison's greatest year coaching if he makes the playoffs. I'm confident he will...all he has to do is win 1 game. (Glendora, Chino, Chino Hills) you pick!
AMAT never . When was the last time you heard of a kid transfering to AMAT to say that I was out recruiting. By the way which so called power in the SGV do you support or is that too much to ask of your in the hole scud watching weasel ass.
Posted by: AMAT 73
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH-such class from an amnot grad-or do you just have a sticker on your lil scud suv
amat all the way
j-rob,
I'm saying Damien will drop this year. But the past few years, they've been very good. Earlier this decade, did't Damien beat Amat? Anyway, if you broke divisions down again by numbers, Los Altos would be playing D-2 and D-3 schools. Damien was a D-3 school. I think Los Altos' nonleague is just fine and if anything, playing Damien and Saint Frank set them back five weeks.
aram just give the ppl what they want a top 10
AND...
The only reason why I downplay St. Francis and Damien is because LA fans are always saying that they want to play Amat....or that LA could play and be successful if they had an Amat-like schedule....or that LA could compete in the Pac-5 if they wanted to, etc.etc.etc.
LA fans want Pac-5 respect and yet their toughest preseason scheduled game will probably be St. Franny ...What DOES give over there???
HHFan
"Since you know so much about Dolberry,"
I don't know a damn thing about Dolberry other than he runs the 40 faster than anyone on the LA roster last season, and what I saw and heard at some of LA's practices and passing league appearances.
"how can he leave practice as a freshman, since the freshmen couldn't be practicing in the summer and he was never officially enrolled at Los Altos?"
What are you babbling about here? Incoming freshmen who are enrolling at a school attend the Summer Camps and practices for their schools all the time. What, you think the week zero freshman game between LA and South Hills was between two teams that had never practiced together?
"O yea one of Gano’s recruits ……"
And of course, you obviously have the inside scoop on how Gano manages all this "recruiting" that both the CIF office and the local newspapers miss.
"My version came from the fathers."
Even if that's true, so? Hardly an unbiased source there.
"I just got off the phone with my source. What happened was Gano promised Dolberry that he would have a fair shot at starting as a freshman if came over. When he showed up during the summer Gano had already decided that the other backs were starting and Dolberry was delegated to a backup role on the varsity squad."
Please, I saw several of LA's summer practices. Dolberry was completely lost. Not a knock on the kid, but it was quickly apparant that he wasn't ready. Despite that, he got reps just like all the other backs.
"Since Gano didn't follow through with his promise and give Dolberry a real shot to compete for the spot he then made the move."
He had a shot, he just wasn't ready. I get the impression that that verdict didn't go down well.
As far as what Gano did or didn't say, I have no idea and I'm not taking -your- word for it, nor the word of some parent that might be telling the truth, or might be hearing only what he wants to hear. Personally, I think Gano made a mistake letting a couple of freshmen kids anywhere near the varsity camp.
"I’m sure your version came from GANO."
Nice try, but I've never talked to or heard anything from Gano on the subject of Dolberry nor Webb for that matter. And let me reiterate: I think his handling of those kids was a -mistake-.
St. Franny? NAAAAH!
As impressive as St. Francis was last year against Los Altos, Saugus, and a short handed Amat.... St. Francis got beat by Crespi 31-17, rocked by Chaminade 40-17, beat by St. Paul 21-9 (Without Nick Grisby). Amat beat both Chaminade and St. Paul (with Nick Grisby) last year. And everyone knows how young and hurt Amat was last year. If Amat plays St. Francis next year and stays healthy, the Lancers will destroy them soundly.
Damien? NAAAAH!
Most people at Damien will be the first ones to tell you that Damien is not a football school. This is the reason why Damien is in a public school league rather than a private one. Last year was an impressive team...but that team is gone. Gotta give them credit for playing St. John Bosco and Amat in the recent past at least.
Damien is number 4 on your list here Aram you are contradicting yourself. St. Franny I will give you. Why wouldn't LA start off with Rancho Cuca. and then play a Birmingham or Taft?......come on Wilson and Rosemead...might as well play Bassett without a coach.
I would agree that in the past Amat pulled some strings and recruited, no doubt about it. Being a private school it is much easier to do. Today heck I really doubt that Amat has went out and recruited. The last real recruit was Bennett who went on to UCLA. If Amat was agressively recruiting you would know it. Amats football supremacy over the the years is not what it used to be but then again who is the top dog in SGV?..I do not see any of our locals running the table in Football championships lately....The well is running dry with great football players coming out of the SGV...
AMAT never . When was the last time you heard of a kid transfering to AMAT to say that I was out recruiting. By the way which so called power in the SGV do you support or is that too much to ask of your in the hole scud watching weasel ass.
What's wrong with playing Damien and St. Francis, two good upper division schools?
WOW! Rosemead and Wilson..what a tough start LA. maybe you should call Walnut and Gladstone for your next two games and rack up a 4-0 out of the gate record...grow some stone over there and sack up and play teams that at least challenge you...with that mentality you guys sucks...and you wanted to play Bishop?...WTF gives over there?
If Amat recruits, then the head of its recruiting department should've been fired yesterday.
bluorca,
re: Ryan Smith
You sound as if you're proud of the "Amat miracles". Not to mention the other several dozen Amat players through the years who have played Div 1 and pro ball. Now let's hear it...all together- AMAT DOES NOT RECRUIT! For 50 years, Amat has been fielding the best team money can buy and everyone knows it. Amat is not feared...neither is it respected.
looks like LOS ALTOS opens up against Rosemead, then Wilson, Damien, St Franny, Western and South Hills....with league play against DR, CO, and Bonita...
Mike Mcdonnah is a great role model for all area athletes to attain to. I hope I can some day live up to his standards of excellence.
Sincerely,
Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold
Furthermore...
Many will say Gano is the best coach but until Gano schedules an actual Pac-5 powerhouse Los Altos will continue to have no respect from outside the SGV including from myself.
Anyone know LA's schedule yet?
LAConq,
Ryan Smith was drafted in the Sixth round by the Titans. He will be the Fourth Amat player currently playing in the NFL.
Last time I checked drafted in the 6th round and playing in the NFL are two different things.
I was looking at my opinion, which was that I feel that Ryan Smith will be playing in the NFL. I never said "is playing" just "will be playing. And then I read yours spiteful comment. Do you want to see Ryan fail because he didn't go to Los Altos and not see yet another Lancer in the NFL? I don't wish that Shaun Cody never returns from his dislocated toe injury and doesn't play in the League again.
Football Junkie
I honestly do not know enough about the coaches to rank them in any way. I do know that if Verti finds a way to beat Lutheran or Notre Dame (heck..Crespi is gonna be loaded as well) than he would get coach of the year in my book. If Verti were to beat Lutheran, Notre Dame, Crespi, and a matured Loyola squad...it would be a MORTAL SIN not to give him coach of the year! hahaha!
LAConq
You obviously do not know Ryan Smith nor what he was able to accomplish at Florida....Yah know...The National Champion Florida Gators?
Nice attempt at once again attempting to belittle him and the other Amat alumi. I bet it really burned your ass so bad that you just HAD to school us on the difference of being drafted and playing in the NFL.
Rest assured, Ryan Smith will definitely PLAY in the NFL. He was still eligible and could have stayed for another year at Florida but was confident enough and stated that he accomplished all he could accomplish at Florida. I guarantee that if he would have stayed at Florida for another year he would have been drafted much earlier than round 6.
The truth is that statistically, it's almost next to impossible to get a chance to start on a Div-1 team. To be drafted by any NFL team is pretty damn close to a straight up MIRACLE!
4 of these Miracles are Bishop Amat Lancers.
When does Spring Football start?
Top Ten Coaches?
Anyone want to take a crack at that? Mike? Colt? Blu? Joe? Any Old Timers out there that have seen SGV Football for more than 15 minutes care to give an opinion?
Gano? Farrar? Bogan? Verti? DiFiori? Thomas? Morrison?
HHfan...
#1, I'm sure Dolberry's father was honest about his son's situation...fathers always tell the truth about their sons and their athletic issues.
#2 A couple days ago you didn't even know how to spell the kid's name (Doughberry)...now you're the valley authority on his situation?
#3 What is a real shot to you? FYI, Dolberry had been showing up 30 - 45 minutes late for Practice EVERY DAY for two-a-days the team was PISSED and Gano was still giving him reps at RB (yes, behind two upper classmen, but that's expected).
But you spoke to his Old Man so I'm sure you're right...my apologies! Stop giving HH a bad name. You make us sound like jackasses!
Last time I checked drafted in the 6th round and playing in the NFL are two different things.
Ryan Smith was drafted in the Sixth round by the Titans. He will be the Fourth Amat player currently playing in the NFL.
When's the next combine? Where does someone find out about these events?
Could use some help.
Thanks
For the person that claims to have seen Umodu at the scout.com combine this past Saturday, that must have a clone of him...because the real Kebin Umodu went on an unofficial trip to the University of Oregon this past weekend for the spring football game and Junior day. It only served him right because the "O" was the first school to offer him in January.
FYI
Covina Football's Motto- Bone Thugs and Harmony. As soon as the CTOWN BS started, that's when I knew two things...I'm getting old and the criminals are welcomed at Covina.
Re: Covina Alum here and not proud.
WHEN ARAM PUTS UP HIS TOP 10 LIST, THE BLOG WILL BE HIT 100+ TIMES IN ONE WEEK!
GO FOOTBALL!
Jhykron,
Since you know so much about Dolberry, how can he leave practice as a freshman, since the freshmen couldn't be practicing in the summer and he was never officially enrolled at Los Altos? O yea one of Gano’s recruits …….
"Dolberry was enrolled at Wilson the day after he was told he wasn't ready for Varsity and would be practicing with the other freshmen. (Literally, he and his friend left the practice and were never seen at LA again). Obviously Oviedo had a spot for him on Wilson's Varsity."
My version came from the fathers. I just got off the phone with my source. What happened was Gano promised Dolberry that he would have a fair shot at starting as a freshman if came over. When he showed up during the summer Gano had already decided that the other backs were starting and Dolberry was delegated to a backup role on the varsity squad. Since Gano didn't follow through with his promise and give Dolberry a real shot to compete for the spot he then made the move.
I’m sure your version came from GANO.
Speaking of Scout.com.... they hosted a combine today at the Home Depot Center. Several local STUDENT athletes were on hand to compete. Amat's D. Austin, Los Altos' Mcbride, Charter Oak's Carreon and South Hills Umodu were among the locals I recognized. Two weeks until football practice begins... good luck to all SGV teams!
Bishop Amat / Orange Lutheran will be a great game that the SGV has to offer.
Notre Dame coming to Amat this year will be huge and the Lancers will have to answer back after that trouncing they took last year.
Why is everyone shocked that St. Paul is gettin an influx of transfer football players. This has been going on the last two decades.
Anyone remember when they got the top notch RB from Alemaney half way through the 2000 season or when they had a hearing with CIF when so many El Rancho players started transfering there?
wow the scrimmage between SH and Sherman Oaks will be awsome...that just goes to show that SOUTH HILLS is not afraid to play nobody...SOUTH HILLS competes with the toughest teams in the Southern Section, im not surprised with this scrimmage...
SH has some great players and this will push their game to the next level...
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!
GREEN AND GOLD
who gives a truck...
Those players you mentioned will hardly be played at that scrimmage. I would be surprised if any of them played more than 3 series. Notre Dame will most likely test their untested players because there is no need to risk injury to her starters especially her Div 1 recruits. In all likelihood, the scrimmage will probably be a close one as scrimmages are mostly used as depth chart tests.
The real Notre Dame will be in La Puente this year.
SOUTH HILLS HUSKIES ARE GOING TO SCRIMAGE SHERMAN OAKS NOTRE DAME WHO HAS 3 PLAYERS RANKED IN SCOUT.COMS NATIONAL 100 AND A USC COMMITED DE AND A ND COMIT AT QB AND ALSO MLB...WITH THE LOSS OF A EXPIERENCED OFFENSIVE LINE HOW WILL THE HUSKIES FAIR?
Why am I perplexed? Not really perplexed, dissapointed is probably a better description. Day after day people come on this blogs and just throw S$%& out there that either disparages a program and or an individual and that particular post got to me as it involved a program I know about.
This is a free country and people can say what they want and I respect their right to do that. It just bothers me when crap is posted and their are no facts to back it up. And then to have you and AT seemingly buy into it.
My bad...my over reaction.
Now lets get back to what we all do best and talk smack.
Hey Blu....What kind of excuses you guys going to come up with this year after we go home with another win?
The Arch Rivalry lives on!
St. Paul can recruit all they want...The Amat Dawgs are gonna rock that Slime like we always do. Even with Joe Morales AND Nick Grisby...our young Lancers were able to beat them. And now our Lancers are all grown up...wut the Slime gonna do?
Well I'll tell ya...They gonna crawl back into their stinking Sante Fe pit and fester for another year...once more.
LETZ SMASH THAT SLIME!
LETZ SMASH EM!
LETZ SMASH THAT SLIME!
LETZ SMASH EM!
Although some of us would like to hear what he has to say, please save the space for the athletes that are doing something positive. Hopefully the covina staff will step and help Mcd. He may be 18, not sure, but THOSE coaches owe him. He made them look like good coaches and they will always refer to the last couple of years as their ability to "coach". Some of their Jr.AA coaches still gloat about beating CO when they had a certain RB who is now on the CO varsity, this was 6-7yrs ago. And yes they do have connections to the high school team.
If the Covina QB is indeed homeschooled right now and gets picked to play in the all star game...WHAT A FRICKEN JOKE!!! I'm sure he's 18 now, interview him and see if can still do an interview if you question his off the field decisions...Aram, you could break a big story here and gather some credibility if you go for this. God knows, he owes the Tribune something after all the pr he got the last few years. Stop protecting the kid and Covina...Time for some answers on what went on over there.
scj,
Why are you getting all perplexed? Could it be people are starting to raise some eyebrows with that program?
By you getting all whacked out your only telling me your just standing next to the cookie jar, we just haven't caught you with your hand in it YET!
Oh well St Paul won't be the first school doing it and won't be the last.

Aram...I agree that the All Area SGV FTB Team should be comprised of quality players/atheletes that have truely displayed thier talents. What's hard to conceive is that some of those honored players are also the same kids that we have to read about in the crime column of our local newspaper. If a kid is truely a quality player and athlete then he/she should display that same role of honor off the field of play. HS sports grooms each of our children to be responsible young adults, when it comes down to it. So, where do you (AT) draw the line when All CIF athletes commit crimes and are still rewarded due to their athletic achievements?....battery, assualt, grand theft is ok?....on the other hand murder, robbery and rape are not ok.....? GET REAL...we (you) should never support a criminal...I don't care who it is.
It is almost like people want these stories to be true. Then, AT puts his little "sound bite" out there. As a journalist he has a lot more credibility than most of us and to throw that line out there he is just as bad as the others with his little innuendo. I know, he was just making an observation but he wants everyone to read between the lines.
Schools like Damien, BA, SP, SJB CSHM have been "destinations" for years as have schools like SH, LA, CO. Now it's an issue. We can debate this for ever?
You are right, it is a non story but you know the poster wont back it up. But he he accomplished his goal but muddying the waters and then for AT to lend it credibility with his throwaway comments.
I guess I need to separate Aram, the journalist from Aram, the blogger.
can mike mcd even play in the all-star game??im his neighbor and he doesn't even go to covina anymore he got kicked out and is now home schooled...is that even possible for him 2 be picked??
Posted by: its not fair
Yes, the Covina football staff, which has taken care of him in the past is working 24/7 to get him back into school.
can mike mcd even play in the all-star game??im his neighbor and he doesn't even go to covina anymore he got kicked out and is now home schooled...is that even possible for him 2 be picked??
scj...
Hey man give me a break...the post seemed to have some "cred" from my point of view. It piqued my interest that was all. It may have legs, but then again it may not. Is there a story or isn't there.
But what makes it more interesting is what Aram posted a few responses after mine.
" Oh yeah, that reminds me. The Swordsmen also got Joe Morales, formerly of South El Monte, prior to last season. Morales, for those of you who don't know, was an All-Area linebacker at SEM in 2005. He played his senior season at St. Paul.
Wow, St. Paul has become quite the destination for juniors/soon-to-be-seniors".
Very interesting if you know what I mean.
Dude all I'm saying is that if you can post it... back it up with "facts". I could care less who he posts under...just back it up. It seems to me something is going on when a school becomes a "destination"
I am Out!

AT,
That's a sticking point on more people than you think...No one is saying that the all valley teams should be a citizenship award, but citizenship or lack of for that matter should've been considered when he was allowed to play for the team last two years after numerous incidents. We saw what was more important with Covina football...WINNING more than the priviledge to put on the uniform that represents the school. As someone else posted, you are the company you keep...You just don't hear about most people having buddies killed in drug busts. As a Covina alum, I cringed when I read the article about Covina kids involved in this and than I shook my head when of all people to be quoted it was who it was...Still got a bad taste about that whole thing. Not a moral high horse in cyberland here, I say this off the computer too. I think more people would agree with this case than you may think.
OK Aram,
Get your facts straight. Grigsby didnt leave because of grades? He will be at Cerritos College Ancich was forced to resign at Calhi because he tried changing Grigsby's grades. Ask Joe Morales what his situation is?? He is on track to qualify he has his 16 core classes completed for clearinghouse. He needs to pass the SAT. SP aint Amat the kids actually have to take the SAT themselves not have someone else show up and take it for them.......
Hey does anyone know if Ryan Smith , Amat Alumni and Florida back, is entering the NFL Draft? I saw his name appear on the draft website, although he wasn't drafted. Does that mean he won't return to play college next year, because I thought he was eligible?
Oh yeah, that reminds me. The Swordsmen also got Joe Morales, formerly of South El Monte, prior to last season. Morales, for those of you who don't know, was an All-Area linebacker at SEM in 2005. He played his senior season at St. Paul.
Wow, St. Paul has become quite the destination for juniors/soon-to-be-seniors.
sorry to you Arroyo Hater,
its true. Tommy Cogburn is flying the coup. It looks like the south shot itself in the wing..you know with that urias coaching controversy/debacle...i guess they'll probably go back to being jealous of Arroyo again.
shockeratcovina,
This might come as a "shocker" to you, but I judge them by what they do on the field. If any Tribune Player of the Year goes on to commit horrible crimes, that's on them. Why can't some of you get this? The All-Area Football Team takes in account what players do on the field, as it should be. It's not a citizenship award. I suppose the All-Area "FOOTBALL" team should leave off somebody who runs/passes for over 50 TDs, throws for over 2,000 yards and rushes for over 1,000 yards.
Lotsa moral high horses out there in cyber land ... lotsa ghosts in closets, too.
Jack...what an jerk. What's your point?
It's a tragedy that kids get involved in drugs but they do. It's a tragedy that "retaliations" happen but they do. It's a tragedy that you brought his name into this tragedy but you did.
Too bad for everyone concerned.
Mike the Clone:
Of course he can't back it up with facts, he's making it all up. Then for you to lend even a shred of credibility to it by saying your interest was piqued and that AT would be interested.
And to think I gave you more credit than that.....
what a freaking shocker that Mike McDunna was close friends with someone who was killed in a drug bust gone bad. You are the company you keep and he is the best representative as your player of the year? Hopefully next year that kid from Va Tech isn't up for player of the year.
OK Aram:
Its easy to make up stuff on line and then hide behind the anonimity of the internet.
I don't know what your beef against St. Paul is but to come online and make up stuff is descpicable and cowardly because we know you can't back it up because it isn't true.
And to implie a player left for racial reasons is an insult to the St. Paul community.
The kid you mention was being recruited by 5 schools. Don't you think St. Paul would love to be able to say one of theirs was a D1 recruit? We all wanted him to get an offer.
Hi Aram. I noticed stuff is heating up in that Miramonte race and the Valle Vista isn't the only race with some drama. I was hoping to be able to talk about it, but there's no baseball topic on here.
Thanks,
Bill
OK ARAM, (The poster not the Prep Writer)
There is something there to your post that peaks my interest..Can you back up that information with facts. I think you maybe on too something if what you say is indeed fact...the keyword is FACT!
I don't know if A.T. would run with a story like that but I think he would be interested. Even if recruiting goes on at my "Bagpiper U" in any sport I want to know.
CIF basically has no control anymore and really does'nt want to step on any of it members toes. To much money is at stake. And well when it comes to parenting...everybody thinks their kid is the next so and so.
Facts just the facts and e-mail them to A.T.
Late!
Mike the Clone
St.Paul recruits dirty. They will call the players houses. They have their coaches pick up players in a car and recruit them directly. And they are able to do that because no one is watching them. Amat cannot get away with that. Too many eyes. Aram would be the first one reporting it. Look at the linebacker from South El Monte last year. Good example. But I warn you future players who drink the punch from the St. Paul coaches. They are users. Ask the linebacker from south El Monte what scholarship he was offered after the season. St. Paul promised something they could not deliver. Plus St. Paul is an extremely close Hispanic community. Grigsby didn't leave for academic reasons.
Condolences to the Covina student and family that lost his life this past week. I will not mention the name of the kid (protect his privacy even though it's in the tribune), but a little skeptical of Covina High School having a bake sale and accepting donations for the family...Should the school associate itself with this kid who was killed in a drug deal that went bad? The kid who killed the Covina boy was merely retaliating after having crap beat out of him by two kids regarding drugs. I found it convenient that in today's paper...who is quoted and a good friend of the kid killed...None other than Covina controversial QB Michael McDonough...Hmmmmmmmm??????
so aram when is that top 10 coming out?
FYI- hey, "Go RB's....Blogger" the top names at RB in sgv are only as good as the lead blockers from backfield to front O-line are wiilling to execute. The elements of RB speed and strength ain't good enough if no one is capable of laying out the blocks to make it all happen. Remember it takes 11 of your best to be the best. No one wins championships with the idea of having one RB that might have speed and strength without a supporting cast.
Aram....When caesar was a road guard i was a sgv HS ftb fan. When JC was an alter boy i was a sgv HS ftb fan. When everyone boo'd i was a sgv HS ftb fan and when everyone roared to for the win i was sgv HS ftb fan. So, what makes you think that your opinons on the up's and down's of sgv ftb teams would make a difference with a someone like me. Entertaining but not worthy of the bet. Good luck to all 2007 sgv HS ftb programs.
Sometimes mistakes just happen.

Hey Scud, what was yours going, to amnot?
Somebody at St. Paul is obviously hustling. The Swordsmen already have Aubrey Haynes from Diamond Ranch. Supposedly, Dulberry from Wilson is there, too. Donte Webb from LA might be going there. And then there's the undying rumor about Cogburn.
Amat, where the heck are you guys?
Makes you wonder why Amat isn't in the mix, somehow? All of these players are right in its backyard. Please don't give me the holier than thou stuff either. Amat isn't above getting its hands dirty, and if anything, somebody better start doing something to get the conglemorate going again. I just can't believe present day Amat can/will sit back and watch St. Paul do this.
I heard TommyCogburn is leaving South El Monte and going to St. Paul. Has anybody heard anything.
Hey the scud's are back........amnot 73 where you been, helping bring more recruits so they can leave after one year?
Amat faced the best pitcher in So. Cal. (Orange Lutheran) Daniel Renkin and lit him up.
Colt Alumn,

hey gimp, wat is it that u have against covina? get beat a couple tiems by them or wat? you say none of our kids go to college, get ur facts straight man. some girl just went to harvard last year. but like most people you choose to look at the negative point on life. stop bashing on people and get a life
Colt Alum... you are amazing.
AHAHAHAHA are you serious? too bad Aram's board doesn't have a F7 grammar check key... cause MY GOD you have some horrible English skills.
looks like Covina's ESL program did you minimal good.
AND YET you accuse me of having "brain problems." if you're going to accuse, at least be able to back your talk with proper grammar usage. Saying "you're" instead of "your" would be a great start.
nice try sucker but you've been exposed. last time i check, Covina Alumns don't go to college and they're actually the ones more familiar with flipping burgers (minus the employee of the month award since Colt Alumns are pretty much bad at everything).
only college 4.0 you can get is probably at Workman Ave. Tech (number one in SGV in Jantorial and Fast Food Studies.)
have fun at you kiddy GO KART race in Bama.... till then
HUSKIES AND LANCERS!!!
Sorry, I didn't type my full name in the last post about West Co.
West Co does play Mater Dei again this year according to a Mater Dei poster on another board,
they also play Rancho C. again this year. Hope it doesn't get too ugly as I hear Mater Dei will be stacked again next season, Haven't heard much on West Co during this off season, except that Demond Wallace isn't returning. This kid as a sophmore was bigger & faster than his senior brother William Wallace & would have been a stud
in his junior & senior year. I hope the new field will bring in some new talent to the school, if not on varsity maybe in the lower levels.
On paper it looks like a tough year for the Bulldogs, but we'll see what happens on the field.
HHFan:
"Donte Webb is leaving LA to go to St. Paul."
This is possible.
"He is going to hook back up with Doughberry and Castaneda "coaches" connection."
You mean Dolberry, right?
"That is why Gano kicked him off the team."
Never happened. Webb travelled with the team all the way to the El Dorado game, and played with the JVs to the end of the regular season. No one gets "kicked off" during the offseason.
"They decided to settle in at St. Paul this year. Doughberry "player" was the freshman at LA last year that jumped ship due to coaching or lack of, he went to Wilson."
Dolberry was enrolled at Wilson the day after he was told he wasn't ready for Varsity and would be practicing with the other freshmen. (Literally, he and his friend left the practice and were never seen at LA again). Obviously Oviedo had a spot for him on Wilson's Varsity.
Conq
I have seen the kid four times. My opinion, there are better athletes than McBride as mentioned.
Joe,
I'm guessing that whoever reported the score probably said
"Twenty, Three & One"
as in 20 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie. That could easily be confused over the phone as Twenty-Three and One. Couldn't it?
Couldn't be an honest mistake over the phone could it?
Must be sinister or decieving on someones part.
Like the Trib saying on it's front page that " Amat's Jon Joe" was the Tribune Player of the Year". Joe plays at San Dimas. Sometimes mistakes just happen.

I'll be back Monday to see what else I'm called while I'm gone. Got a flight to go watch the Talledegga NASCAR race leaving in 3 hours....

... a lot of these folks also don't go to colleges and can be found bagging groceries at your local Albertson's store."
Gimpsta I can only imagine that you chose your log on because you a challenged in some way...let me guess...your brain? From reading your posts I'd be willing to lay money on that one.
Tell ya what Gimp... I'll put my 4.0 College degree up against your McDonalds Fry Cook of the Month award any day of the week. Not meant to degrade McDonalds....just you gimp boy. And I bet so would a lot of us here in C Town. Or since you mentioned bagging at Albertsons did you need some of us to come and keep you company?
Joe,
Our website has us at 20-03-01 and The Tribune has us at 19-03-01 . Where are you getting this 23-01 .
Donte Webb is leaving LA to go to St. Paul. He is going to hook back up with Doughberry and Castaneda "coaches" connection. That is why Gano kicked him off the team. They decided to settle in at St. Paul this year. Doughberry "player" was the freshman at LA last year that jumped ship due to coaching or lack of, he went to Wilson.
Why is Amat putting that they're 23-1 in baseball. That's not accurate record. I've seen them lose 3 times myself. What a pitiful league they're in. Can't take them serious until you see them play some teams (not talking pre-season- seeing someone's #3 or #4 pitcher doesn't count).
GO BULLDOGS
Aram:
"The Conqs also have the best running back in the area (McBride(am I wrong?),"
Best? Who knows. He's certainly one of the fastest kids in the area. As far as speed goes, Tillis isn't a slouch either. Throw in Saenez and Martinez, and LA does have their fill of "little" backs to pick from.
"the best tight end (Rodriguez, who also plays D-Line),"
True that. If I were Gano, 84 would be my #1 receiver next year.
"and a good offensive/defensive lineman in Longoria."
Longoria and Contreras might be as good a tandem at guard as LA has had since 1998.
"Not to mention, sophomore Donte Webb who could immediately be one of the top WR/DBs combos in the Valley."
If he's still around, anyway. Kid is an incredible athlete, but mentally he's still a freshman right now.
"Then there's this year's frosh team, who will be sophs ... and it goes on ..."
I'm sure some sophs will get in the mix. I'm not holding my breath that most of them will be contributers before their junior years, though.
Say This:
First, be careful what you're anonymously name-calling a 15 year old kid.
Second, I'm pretty sure that isn't accurate, since Webb travelled with the team to every game (even when he wasn't allowed to suit up). Nobody gets thrown off the team during the offseason, and there's no way in hell a freakin' freshman is going to get cut for, essentially, immaturity.
Say What:
"So thats the story your being told , well news flash to you , Gano kicked him off once he heard that Webb was going to be transfering..."
That sounds equally unlikely. (the bit about Gano, not the part about whether Webb is transfering)
GO RB's
just for your info. there arent many guys that are gonna be bigger, stronger and faster than mcbride. Have you seen this kid? He may be on the short side but he really move an is A LOT bigger than the average kid. LA will be fine next year, all they haveto do is find someone that can hand the ball off and dump it to the tight end the kids will make the plays on their own, they area very exp. bunch
Say This !!!!!
So thats the story your being told , well news flash to you , Gano kicked him off once he heard that Webb was going to be transfering...
The school that hes transfering to will not put up with lazy players as well , he will learn hardwork, commitment, family and tradition.
To AMAT never.
Here's your scud. Your name fits you . Never will be nor can be .Gimpsta hit it right on the nail head, only I think bagging groceries is still to far over your head. As for"its called a clue" the people who leave were probaby never Lancers in their heart so best of luck to them but we are probaby better off with out them .
Aram
I am not convinced that Mcbride is the best running back in the SGV.
Some others out there that are bigger, faster, stronger! Harris, Wagner, Barbone
Aram,
Just a thought, (and this may totally be out of your control) why don't you change things up a bit and give users the ability to start their own threads? Of course, everyone should obey by Aram's commandments and such…no bashing, etc…..why don’t you give your fans, readers a chance to create their own voice/topics. I get the fact that this is “Aram Tolegian on Sports (wait a minute… what happened to the whole “life” deal, I really dug that....some of us like hearing about your personal life) but give us some slack, you may be surprised.

Ghs 2008 class lost to diamondbar / amat /and damien .
and when they were sophmores on jv the lost to amat and chinohills
Football and no amat scud's on board.......
hey gimpsta, when is your mom shopping at Albertson's again, I enjoy helping her loading the groceries into the car, she's a great tipper!!
PREETY WEAK HOW PEOPLE COME ON HERE AND START TALKIN ABOUT WELL THE SOUTH HILLS FRESHMEN IN 06 OR LA HAD A GOOD FRESHMEN TEAM OR ANYYYYTHING ABOUT FRESHMEN FOOTBALL...IT DOESNT MEAN A DAM THING PEOPLE...CO'S GROUP OF SR'S LAST YEAR THAT PLAYED IN THE FINALS WERE 1-9 AS FRESHMEN...THERE 1 WIN WAS A 6-0 TRIUMPH OVER GAREY!
BISHOP AMAT IF YOUR SCHOOL IS SO GREAT WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TRANSFERING OUT OF IT
people! stop making such sophisticated comments toward the Colt players/fanbase. they do NOT have the IQs to comprehend such intricate info.

HUSKIES AND LANCERS!!!!
There are a couple of very talented kids in the Damien program. I really like LB Kenny Dominguez. This kid is hot! He blows to the ball, comes with bad intentions and has the will to pursue at all costs and is football smart. Might be better than Hile/Gomez/Stokes if his knee is fine. I really liked his play against Temscal Canyon. DE John Rabe might end up in the PAC 10 if he gets some foot speed and really runs alot in the off season...at least STAIRS. That's always tough for big men but stamina and motors make PAC 10 players. I think the world of Mc Mahon. This kid only knows one speed and that's balls out! He'll really tear up the yards at RB. Taylor Herrera is just sick. Gonna be something this year especially if he takes over at Safety. DIV I prospect in my humble opinion.
As always Damien has BIG PEOPLE and on defense they will be HUGE, FAST and MEAN. Jason Reyes, the brothers Okafor, Salter, Shcearr, Gallardo, ect will be tough.
Only problem I see might be O line but Coach Bubba's got skills and O Line is easy when you got dedicated smart lineman. So by league they'll be fine.
Question marks will be 2nd string QB, Corners. BUt from what I saw the freshmen are stacked with ballers and they could really turn some heads! Last but not least..winning brings talent and last year's team won alot and got alot of pub so look out!
Best of luck to the Spartans!
Come on wow all you guys say how CO and LA are gonna be the best team in the valley next year...
SH is fully loaded this year coming back full force ready to take the SAL by storm and as far as the southwest divison, SH is untouchable in playoffs...30-2 in November and carrying a tradition of multiple CIF championships.
i expect nothing less then to be ranked number 1 in the 07 season
the team deserves it...
hey aram your gonna freak when you see the huskies this upcoming season!!!
the guys are stoked!!! haha
i dont get wat u meant by eligbility check
hey vikings
well lets see, me personaly, went undeated in league freshman year, sophmore year, and junior year. one year of jv and 2 of varsity. and i didnt want to come on here making any promises, but now i will. we will beat you, and yeah it will be a good game, all the way until the 4th quarter when u walk off the field wiht ur head down
all i have to say is watch out for damien
morrison will do something right
and i garantee damien will be the top team in the valley again
for the second year in a row
and of course man handle charter oak
jus like they have the past 9468493068 years
"but wat the hell does that have to do with how smart we are? keep ur lil comments to urself"
Eligibility check anyone!

so what if covina's 2008 classnt hasnt lost a game in league, u cant count freshman and jv and then jv again. All that doesn't matter, Northview WILL win league this year, Covina wont make the playoffs. When all said and done, you guys can remember beating us freshman year, then twice on JV, but the one that really counts is going to be the one EVERYBODY remembers.
You guys can talk frosh football all you want too...The kids that are seniors this year at "bagpiper U" I beleive only lost one game when they were Freshman and when they were Soph's on the JV team didn't lose a game....
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure about that.
Go fiqure!
Out!

Hey LOS ALTOS fans
Dont include Varsity freshman WR Donte WEBB in anything , rumor is he will be transfering out at the end of the school year. Too where you wonder , well your just gonna have to wait and see....
so theres not much i can say to this blog. i cant sit up here and whine cuz aram said covina will not be good this year. all there is to do was what we at covina have been doin, keep on working on getting better. like coach tells us nothing is gurenteed except how hard u work. and just to let u all know, the class of 2008 has never lost a league game, nobody else in the league can say that. and a lil side note, sure were not amat, but wat the hell does that have to do with how smart we are? keep ur lil comments to urself
Cong Alum,
I said "handled" not "thrashing". One of your touchdowns was late, when game was already in hand and your other was on special teams, besides, 92 yards total offense to SH's 260 yards. LA, you had NO line, a good qb running for his life!
"SGVdude"
Frosh:
SH 19
LA 13
Not exactly a thrashing bro...
That was LA's only loss at the freshman level.
I believe Los Altos' frosh team's only loss was to South Hills. Yikes, these programs are just loaded.
Let's clarify whats coming up between LA, SH & CO's freshmen. Didn't see CO's freshmen but I do know, SH easily handled LA's freshmen in a game played between the two in 06!
Bearcats,
You're going to have to do better than just calling me fat. What are you, my doctor? And by the way, you're on the porker's web site. If he's just a hack, then there's really no point for you being here. Right?
Also, I like cupcakes, not twinkies. The pies are pretty good, too. Anyway, run off to class and let the adults talk.
South Hills Huskies are definitely on top!
Isn't it funny how some porker can tell you what kind of year your going to have before the previous school year isn't complete? We'll see in September how well we do, but it won't have anything to do with some hack at the Tribune who probably got as close to the line of scrimmage now as he did when he was our age. Keep hammering those twinkees and we'll keep giving you something to write about.
Not the quickest fly to the herd.
Aram wrong on Mc Bride.
Marcus Wagner is going to tear it up this year at Amat. That Manchild is benching over 300 lbs. running track and is going to run thru and over people this year...This Senior to be is Yolked up.
Retard,
It's a joke boy, get it?
Like: Sharpest bulb in the box...
You amat people have no sense of humor.
gimpsta,
It's sharpest tool in the shed not smartest.
The class of 2008 from Damien has won two league Championships and tied for the third. They are big and strong. Don't get me wrong. They will have their work cut out for them. Damien will have to play about five or six players both ways to compete. And yes I think Pertisati is one of them. Ryan McMahon should have been in the backfield at least part time last year. He will be a big part of the teams success. They will be solid in the trenches. Some of their top atheletes will have to change positions for this to happen. Also Coach Morrison will have to pull out a new bag of tricks and be more creative and not so predictable. Key players like Pertisati,McMahon,Rabe,Smits,Scharrer,Williams,Koprcina,Herrera,Dominguez and Galaz need to have a solid year to repeat as Champions.Good luck to all of the sgv teams in this up and coming season.
Jhykron,
The Conqs also have the best running back in the area (McBride(am I wrong?), the best tight end (Rodriguez, who also plays D-Line), and a good offensive/defensive lineman in Longoria. Not to mention, sophomore Donte Webb who could immediately be one of the top WR/DBs combos in the Valley. Then there's this year's frosh team, who will be sophs ... and it goes on ...
Football Fan:
"What about the Southwest Division?
Between South Hills, Los Altos and Charter Oak, who do you think will dominate in 2007?"
I can't speak for Aram's opinions, but a lot depends on what each program has coming back and coming up (and transfering in). In order of returning strength, they'd rate:
1. Charter Oak
2. South Hills
3. Los Altos
The only one of these I can talk specifics on is LA, who are graduating starters at the following positions: QB, RB, WR (Split), WR (Flanker), OL (Center), OL (R-Tackle), DE (Weak), DT (Nose), LB (Middle), C, SS, and FS. That's actually more than most of Aram's "disappearing" powers are losing, but LA is notorious for reloading quickly.
Aram,
I also agree with your list of struggling teams.
I see CO dominating SW division with a good, experienced QB and Glendora on top of the Sierra League with unquestionably the most experienced, best defense.
What about Walnut?.....Oh thats right you have to have a winning season first before you are put on the downfall programs list.....well I dont see them on either list for awhile...Maybe their wins will come against Rowland since they are going to be so bad and then maybe they will be West Covina since they are going to be so bad and then Nogales since they are always so so ........Looks like Walnut makes the playoffs this year..........NOT!
ARAM,
I agree with you, the teams you listed are definately going to struggle next season.
What about the Southwest Division?
Between South Hills, Los Altos and Charter Oak, who do you think will dominate in 2007?
Is West Covina playing Mater Dei this year? That will be an ugly game if they do.
Damien vs. St. John Bosco would be just as ugly.
Aram, whats your take on B.P. Losing Harris has to hurt, What dod they have coming back?
Aram...Couldn't the same be said of you?
I don't know why that question bothers me...but it does.
Let's see what would Oscar be doing if he wasn't boxing?
1) I don't know
2) I don't care
3) Why are we asking this?
4) Fulling some racist stereotype?
Don't get mad Aram...but what's your point?
And things were going so smooth. :-)
what do you expect Knightlife.... dude is an avg. run of the mill Covina student... not exactly the smartest tool in the shed from what i've seen over the years.
so ease up a bit. not like he's an Amat guy.
Have what it "Gots"? You mean have what it "Takes"! Who taught you how to Spoke?
Quit football and get a tutor!
hey aram, as a covina player
i still see us winning league, probably not dominating like the past 2 years but we still have what it gots!!!!!!
