Amat upholds its end of the bargain!!!

The Lancers can finally celebrate.
I'm back: The situation in the press box wasn't pretty. We had one wireless connection and one dial-up. Special thanks go out to Scott Galetti for his pinch-hit blogging. What a great night it was. Amat got after Eddie McKiernan. The depth was just too much. The Lancers have hitters throughout the lineup and having two pitchers like Maverick Olivares and Chris Eusebio really helps keep both guys fresh. The umps were absolutely atrocious, but fortunately the right team won. TAKE NOTHING AWAY FROM THESE LANCERS, THEY TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS!!!
This is Scott Galetti helping out Aram with updates from the Bishop Amat/Monrovia title game at UC Riverside.
Amat closing in on a celebration at UC Riverside
Top of the First: Curtis Cowell gets hit by a pitch, but is later retired on a double play.
Bottom of the first: Bishop Amat takes a 1-0 on a single up the middle by Maverick Olivares, who led off with a infield single and went to second on a sacrifice by Sergio Munoz. 1-0 BA
Top of the second: Erik Allen and Patrick Greene led off with singles. Following a ground out, Clint Fraijo tied the game at 1-1 with a single to left. The Wildcats loaded the bases, but Olivares got Curtis Cowell to ground out to short to end the threat.
Bottom of the second: Amat gets a single by Andrew Mistone, but he is stranded at third when Jordan Fox struck out looking. 1-1.
Top of the third: Eddie McKiernan singled with one out and stole second. He would later score on a single to right-center by Patrick Greene. 2-1 Monrovia.
Bottom of the Third: Fox leads off with a double to left and Munoz reached first on a fielder's choice. With runners at second and third and one out, Olivares then popped one down the third-base line in foul ground. Monrovia shortstop Vince Vega made a diving catch. He alertly got up and ran to third base to force out Fox. He then threw to first, but it was ruled that Munoz tagged before advancing to second. Chris Eusebio doubled to right-center to score Munoz to tie the game. Tommy Reyes followed with a double down the right-field line to give the Lancers a 3-2 lead after three.
Top of the Fourth: Monrovia goes down 1-2-3. 3-2 BA
Bottom of the Fourth: Little ball remains the key for Amat. Bryan Seymour singles and is sacrificed to second. Fox doubles to right to score Frank Lopez, who was running for Seymour to make it 4-2. Munoz doubled to right field to make it 5-2. Olivares singled down the right-field line to make it 6-2. A single by Eusebio ended McKiernan's out with two out in the fourth. Monrovia reliever Richard Kilbury walked Tommy Reyes to load the bases and then Mistone to score a run. Kilbury struck out Nick Bergara to end the inning. 7-2 BA
Top of the Fifth: Monrovia gets back-to-back two-out singles, but can't cash in. 7-2 BA
Bottom of the Fifth: Kevin Bonilla walked, stole second, stole third, but was out 2-1 trying to score. 7-2 BA after five.
Top of the Sixth: Monrovia loads the bases with one out. Olivares is relieved by Eusebio. Eusebio hits Cowell to score a run and Rocky Tavera knocks in a run on a ground out toe second. 7-4 BA after 5 1/2.
Bottom of the Sixth: Amat goes down 1-2-3. 7-4 BA heading into the seventh.
Top of the Seventh: Eusebio walks the first two batters, but gets a 5-4-3 double play. After Greene scored on a passed ball, Eusebio strikes out Chris Sanchez looking to end the game.

Bishop Amat is on its way up!
Thank you Mr. Nieto for making the difference for those students that are beginning to make a difference.
Also, thank you for keeping the order straight, especially for those that have seemed to have lost the order and its importance...
Life, Academics and then Sports!
Way to go Boys. You beat the teams you were scheduled against. I just found out about this blog today. I didn't even know it existed. As far as bloggers, how big of a man are you if you have to criticize 15-18 year olds?
wow. someone from my own school responding and taking a bite at the same time. i addressed the issue of amat moving from d1 to d5.believe what you want to believe. that is how cif works.
on releaguing you seem to know so much about... each principal gets to voice their opinion. the league principals do get to vote and one principal can get lost very easily. my point is this, even if one had a good relationship with their principal (as you suggest i lack)(wow, you must be a true insider, don't give yourself away), lower sports take the backseat to bigger sports. i don't think anyone cared what i thought when the possibility arose about moving from the valle vista to the san antonio league. this move is over and done anyway, i was addressing the cif divisonal alignment.
lastly, must really be an insider if you want to discuss my use of the "talent".
let me guess...
Quite often coaches (or at least ADs who hopefully represent the coach) and principals do discuss the votes prior to the meetings. And sometimes the principal listens.
Then that principal walks in with their ONE vote with the other FIVE schools in the league. Do the math.
Remember it is *leagues* not *schools*
Oh Scotty...
You don't go from D1 to D5 without a real reason Fisch! It was set up that way and planned that way.
Quit worrying about Nieto, and put your energy in our program. We did not have a good year, nor did you use the talent right!
There was only one #1 team in CIF to win the championship in ALL divisions. That is how hard it is to win a championship no matter what division you are in. Yes, it was AMAT!!!!!!! #1 AND WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP
FISCH
Do you think that some of us are in the dark? I know many coaches(maybe not you) that have the relationships with their pricipals and make the decisions and plan prior to speaking with CIF.
Get real! This is just your side of the story!
Amat Bloggers
Just remember this when football starts. You guys defend D5 and rip everyone else's football program for not being in PAC-5 or not playing the tough schedule year in and year out! Double standards!!!!!!
Coach Fisch,
Nice job with the explanation. When it comes from anyone from amat- it's an excuse, not fact.
The important point that you make is that LEAGUES go into divisions NOT teams. And what league you are placed in, very often, is out of your control as well. You hint that SH would rather be in the same league with other schools in Covina-Unified, and I remember the fuss when you were removed from the Valle Vista League.
If the Del Rey League is placed any higher, how fair is that to Bishop Montgomery, St Monica, La Salle, and St Paul or others in the Camino Del Rey Association Association like Bosco Tech, Cantwell-Sacred Heart , Cathedral, Mary Star, Serra, and St. Bernard. Nobody there competes at a higher level on a regular basis, so our ouster from the OC schools creates quite a pedicament.
BTW, Nice job with the All-Star game. The girls deserve it . Thanks!
ok. let me try to explain this to those of you that do not understand and would rather bash the system they know nothing about. the process in place by cif is in place because this is what the principals in the southern section want. each school pays dues to the southern section, therefore have a strong say in what happens. this is how some schools get moved from one league to another, even though it might be nice for schools in the same district to stay and play. instead, this opens up another can of politics i don't wish to go into at this time.
bishop amat is in div 5 baseball while, softball is in div 4. south hills baseball is in div 3, while softball is in div 4. this has to do with the playoff run by each school and sport individually. obviously, amat baseball has not been performing in the playoffs the last couple of years, therefore their slide to div 5. this is not the players fault, coaches fault, aram's fault or the fact that their principal is now at charter oak. those were all excuses by people with out a clue. just whiners. if amat continues to have good playoff runs in baseball before the end of the next cycle, look for them to move to div 4 or 3. same with amat softball or south hills baseball or softball.i am using south hills as an example because i coach softball at south hills and am on the cif advisory committe for softball. i am a part of the process but just a small part, therfore i can try to explain this to some of you.
hesperia high school softball just won the div 5 championship last weekend with 3800 students. how fair is this? the fact is hesperia and their league have not been doing well the last couple of years and have now fallen into div 5. just so happens they have a div 1 pitcher going to kansas and a div 1 shortstop possibly going to cal state fullerton.
with all this said, lay off coach nieto. he can only coach the team in the playoffs that cif and the principals have supported. same for all the other coaches in the valley or anywhere else. people that rip others on this blog need to understand that all of us coaches do what it takes to win. we will continue to play the best. if you doubt this, then you need to take a longer and more realistic look at your kid or your complaint.
get over amat being in div 5. that's the process cif uses now. it starts with the principals. the situation is this: for every two year cycle, schools in all sports are looked at. schools can have sports in different divisions, for example softball at my school is D4 while baseball is D3. it all depends on how your league does in the playoffs. softball at hesperia high school this past cycle is in division 5. hesperia has 3800 students. they are in D5 because there league has not won in the playoffs on a regular basis. their pitcher is going to D1 kansas and their shortstop is going to CSF. chances are the next cycle they will be moved up to 4 or 3. all of this could be based on one school's success, even though point wise it usually takes two or three goods playoff runs by schools in the same league. bishop amat will eventually start moving up the division ladder in the next few years. you could generalize and say amat has not had the athletes the last couple of years to remain at D1. who cares? this is what the principals have a strong say in.
I like how another Damien-connected person (parent or coach) attempts to call people out on here for posting anonymously...and then does it himself. Here is the issue at Damien...high expectations. Quite simply the current staff does not meet any of them and they need to go. That's why. Two years of their influence on our kids is enough.
You're absolutely right Anonymous....when are those classy Amat guys going to come on the blog?
I love Bishop Amat in every sport they play. They are the epitome of class, fair-play and spread the good word of all catholics. I wish everyone acted like the athletes, their parents and their coaches.
Sincerely,
Nobody
I think it was my old friend Big Willie that said something about a "rose by any other name not smell so sweet".
Last possible angle for those humble Amat types. And you know who you are:
Let's agree on who is a Division I team. Okay. Mater Dei, Crespi, Loyola, Santa Margarita and St. John Bosco. Okay now if ANY one of those teams dropped or were dropped by CIF into Division V wouldn't there be an outcry from the SGV about fairplay?
Imagine Mater Dei, Loyola or SM playing La Puente in the first round and then de-throning what would have been the Back to Back Division V Champion 7-5. Not 16-0 but by only 2 runs. What does that say about fair play? And what does the score say about maybe CIF. Maybe they got it right after all and that's were Bishop Amat belongs long term in Division 4/5. In my mind that was a "gift" and a "travesty" performed by CIF on innocent hardworking kids from both schools. I just wish Monrovia would have won because maybe they would have appreciated their accomplishment better or it would have been more of an accomplishment...what was it about the rose? Big Willie think of something appropriate to say.
Maybe instead of putting each other down try and understand Monrovia's fustration and the SGV's sense of disbelief at the arrogance of pounding your chest after a Heavyweight (former) knocks out a (current)Middleweight reigning Champion.

People, People, People:
My, my, my...
Like the song on the Chicago VI album, "What's This World Coming To?" (by the way, for those of you that attended private or public school from the mid 1970s and whether you drank or tailgated, you should know the song...?!).
First and foremost, just because a team lost due to an organization's politics, don't use other things to criticize and belittle Amat's victory and success. That goes for parents of former Amat student's (you know who you are, so stop ego-tripping about your kid!), as well as those that still attend Amat and like to "fester" stuff (you're either for Amat or you're not-not enough room for two egos!). Read on...
Let's get some perspective...CIF was the one that decided to place Bishop Amat in Division V...no one else. Yes, Monrovia was the losing team...not by choice...remember, CIF DECIDED to put Bishop Amat in that divison...no one else.
Give Mr. Nieto his props...or keep your mouths shut! Amat is now on a roll!
Please explain exactly what "cheating" you are talking about.
Try to be specific without SCREAMING.
WHAT A BIG SURPRISE!!!!! AMAT GETS DROPPED 4 DIVISIONS AND THEY WIN. WHAT A SHOCK!!! THE CHEATERS GET REWARDED FOR CHEATING. CIF IS A FREAKIN JOKE!!
So when does it come out? and what are the rumors?
The rumors are out as of the All Valley Team, if true there are some major screw ups and surprises.
Aram can you tell us the process of how is this team pick? I hear different things so i would prefer to hear it from you
OMG not Anonymous again, bitching about the Henley haters
When will you post the All Area Baseball Team?
Pretty clever Aram...now all you have to do is go back and get "SS" tattoed on the other arm and looked surprised (hence the "O" with your mouth) and spin in a circle real fast.....get the picture.
Here's a hint ...it'll read "We did it "A" "SS" (sight gag "O")...I'm laughing aren't you?
Everyone gets your point Aram. It's your blog.
And DELETE in ...one..two...three....
Sorry, just got back from getting a golden A tattoed on my arm with a "We did it" under it in cursive. Looks nice.
OMG not the Henly bashers again
Dan Henley is a great man and a great coach.
Sincerely,
the Devil
The "the King has no clothes" comment was deleted, because ARAM is an AMAT Homer. If it had been directed at any other school, it would have been left alone.
Baseball idiot Dad,
Step up and tell everyone your name. Just once I'd like to see a Damien parent with some balls who knows what they are talking about, has reasoned the point and can defend his position.
Enough already we get it the coaches are terrible, unethical and unqualified in your opinion. The question is why? The pitching was hurt all year but there were good times and bad. Remember Glendora? Next year will be better. Inspite of your hurt feelings.
Okay what's your name?
You guys keep a list? That just proves my point.
Jimmy
All these hits over a team winning a D5 baseball championship. A Champion is a Champion reguardless of competition. People are whining here for no reason. The opposition (Monrovia) got to the championship game for a reason. Good team with championship qualities..Came up short and did not repeat so people come in and bad mouth the team that won? Fricken Ridiculous. We are talking adults here too..Check yourself. All of you...give credit to both teams and move on. It was a hard fought game between two very good programs...Someone has to lose...this is not a boxing match where you can call it a draw...one team just did a little more to be called a champion reguardless of rank.
Has anyone heard any news regarding the damien baseball coaching situation? Are these guys staying or going? What have you guys heard? Is summer ball being organized by Damien or are the kids off on their own travel teams?
Amat 73, I find it rather amusing that "the King has no clothes" comment was erased by Aram. A lot worst has been said by others about several schools, bloggers, players and coaches. I don't think anything that was written in that comment could not be reasonably interpeted as anything more than a objective point of view. From the outside looking in or from the inside looking out Bishop Amat has problems. One of them is the "new" parents and "new" Alumni that are reaching for greatness from empty pockets instead of creating their own legacy. You know the kind that offer you a beer at a high school practice. Let's get this straight....NO DRINKING ON HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES DURING DAY TIME!!!!!!! It's bad enough at night at the games but at practice?
Maybe the boys at Bishop Amat can do it just like the girls...on their own. As great as the girls basketball program is, and they ARE great, I've never heard a single negative comment from a Bishop Amat backer or Bishop Amat "psuedo hater" that was anything more than school banter. Why is that? Maybe because the girls basketball program is not depending on the ghost from the past but are spending their time creating a dynasty.
Look how many Championships they've won and yet no boastful or classless comments coming from their supporters. Why is that?
I think you have it right somewhat Amat 73. But if you know what you're about you'll rarely tolerate fools whether their from the "outside" or "inside" of Bishop Amat. Those who hate Amat probably just do it to see the worst in your Alumni...and it works. EVERY TIME! Get it right. Class is as class does.
As far as the "gifted championship" goes...so what..when Bishop Amat won the National Championship they were division 4 or 3 right? Has Bishop ever been Division I in basball? How did it go? Beside NO ONE and I mean NO ONE drops that low in divisions with good cause. That's were BA belongs..proof will be in football. Isn't that what happened to the girls BBteam. They went up in division, didn't win CIF but did win STATE..right?
Best of luck to Bishop Amat. You ain't no King. At least not the way you act.
I guess Jimbo (jimmy) Refuses to see what others bash us for, only to bash some more on how we respond to the idiots that come in here and are anti-amat......Jimbalya read before you voice. With what you wrote you are another basher...we will add you to the list...What a buffoon.
Congratulations to the Lancer Baseball team. Your determination and hard work paid off in winning the CIF SS Division 5 Championship. To Monrovia, you played a good game; to Eddie good luck in all your endeavors. To the Lancers seniors Maverick, Chris, Sergio; good luck and thanks for being great leaders for our team. To the Lancer baseball team - Thanks for the memories.
Why do all the Amat supporters feel the need to go into these long and defensive explanations? The defense put into place is usually one sided, arrogant and to be quite honest self depreciating towards oneself, are you guys trying to prove something to those of us outside of "Lancerland" or to yourself?
I get the sense you are trying to provide justification for your decision as to where you send your children for their education, is the collective self esteem at Amat seriously that tore up?
Believe it or not the majority of us out here are actually productive, happy and have no idea where your campus is even located other than somewhere in La Puente.
Jimmy
These Hood rats that rip Amat really need to get a life. You rip the student body, the athletes, the restrooms, the Champion Baseball team, The Championship Wrestling team, The Champion Girls Basketball team, our spring training football team, and parents? what gives here? Is it because of the success the schools athletics put out year in and year out. All based on jealousy because your schools dont compete against us or even want to for that matter. I do not see any of the locals on our Football schedule and these are the people that rip Amat, but do not even compete or try to compete with Amat. Why? Well they answer their own question... they know they are out of their league in class, so all they can do is pot shot like idiots, but do not have the smarts to think about why they do not play us. I would think by now they could figure it out, but they refuse. Grow up losers.. when your team can play us, and hang with us, and consistantly schedule us, then come in here and run your mouth, but until then go bash a team you play, not one you hate because you cant measure up to them.
king has no clothes,
Your openning statement has alot to do with some of the replies your read here. You state we received a gifted championship . What do you expect us to do when we are being belittled for things out of our control . Yes we prefer to be in the upper division but you play with the cards your delt. Very few have actually congratulated the team for there efforts of winning the championship and if they did it was with some tainted remark and we as being LANCERS have every right to defend our school and teams when they do well. I myself realize alot of the comments are made with tongue in cheek but there are quite a few vicious individuals who carry it bit too far and carry a deep hatered towards AMAT that was there long before these blogs started .
good points Joe Amat...golf is a hobby.....when someone can affect your performance, its a sport. Clemens can throw a 90 mph splitter, Kobe can drive by you and dunk over your face, peyton can throw a perfect pass over your shoulder into his receiver's hands....all sports......golf...not so much....when Daly is able to stand in front of Tiger and play defense, I will think differently. Poor little Tiger gets pissed when someone sneezes in his back swing.
The National Spelling Bee was on ESPN too! So is the "Rocks Paper Scissors" Championships and Hot Dog eating contests.
This really is a worthy debate that I'd like to hear some opinions on. Tiger is an athlete - John Daly, not so much.
Just because someone has a "skill" does not make something athletic. Just because it is competitive, Does not make it a sport. An incredibly difficult skill that only the very gifted possess, but maybe only a skill nonetheless. We could call it an athletic competition - but possibly not sport.
To me a sport "is an officiated athletic contest that requires some strategy enabling the participants to have a direct effect on each other during the competition". If it doesn't meet all criteria - I think it's an athletic skill, competition, or event - but not a sport.
Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Take your best shot.
I know it is off the subject, but who does everyone think will get player of the year for SGV??

Hey Four at June 5, 2007
Would love to see you hit a golf ball on the pro circuit and compete at that sport! Then we would see who has ZERO athleticism! LOL
I believe Tiger did win an ESPY for athlete of the year! I guess they give it to non-athletes!
kquenga
At least you used some sort of statistics in your post...But you failed to mentioned the common opponents Amat and the "higher division" Charter Oak had this year (like Rudidoux, Glendora, Monrovia).
Now do your research on maxpreps and have a good nighty night.
congrats on winning the D 5 championship
Dear Imposter "bluorca"
Nice name! And nice try! Too bad everyone on here knows that I'm an avid Lancer supporter and I would never write such a idiot remark aimed towards AMAT!
ON BLUE!!!
Mr Clone...
Thanks man! I'm all for a truce here....Let there be peace!
just ask me
nice i see your a conservative! nice. now vote for mccain!
Congrats to my buddies at Amat!
Monrovia congrats on a great year!
Enough said.
GOOD NIGHT NOW!

Dear Get Real:
Put whomever you wish in whatever league you want and play fantasy baseball. Otherwise, GET REAL, and accept the divisions are the way they are, and recognize that every team is composed of players in the 16 to 18 years of age. If one high school is composed of 20 to 25 year old players, then you will have a reason to complain.
Lancer Nation is fast becoming Americas most hated high school.
Just like the raider nation.
do you have to be fat to be am amat fan?

No just drunk and arrogant, oh and you have to be able to throw a diaper under the car while sipping a 40.
matnever,
Next time post the complete blog not just the part that you want to play into your B.S. Just like your name , amatnever , never can be , never will be , never has been ,never could be , now go back in your sewer you rat and don't come out till football season.
Here you are you lil' b....
amtnever=don't want to be....not enough tears
by the way, I live in La Puente-sewer rat...lol
Amat=class,NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To hate us (AMAT) is to respect us. We know you all do.
You guys are my daily entertainment so thank you. Uneducated, biased and pointless....... I can always count on it from AMAT faithful which I consider them all to be 'unfounded arrogant blue collar spewing venom filled with self appreciating and self absorbtion.'
Lancer Nation is fast becoming Americas most hated high school.
do you have to be fat to be am amat fan?
"Four?"
You equate money means a hobby is a sport? Does that mean pro wrestling is a sport because Stone Cold Steve Austin makes a ton of money? Is bowling a sport because some fat ass wins money at a tournament? Golf takes ZERO athleticism to be somewhat decent. The most physical demand is walking 500 yards and then taking a five minute break. Wow, you're right...golf is a sport and Rosie O'Donnell is a hottie.
amatnever,
Next time post the complete blog not just the part that you want to play into your B.S. Just like your name , amatnever , never can be , never will be , never has been ,never could be , now go back in your sewer you rat and don't come out till football season.
The only reason this thread generates so much is because of all the Amat haters. Charter Oak is the class of the valley. CO outscored their playoff opponets 52-10 in a higher division.
Charger Pride!
I AM THE ORIGINAL BLEEDS BLUE AND GOLD, accept no subsitutions.
Let's see, the thread for COs title win generates 60 posts. The thread for AMAT generates TWICE the number. Like it or not we rule the SGV.
Now get over it.
And by the way , having a few beers with some Pizza after Saturday's Amat victory was sweet. Last time I checked Beer was sold in pizza joints. We celebrated with our beer where as Monrovia cried in their beer...Will the haters cry foul when we are wining in football..I bet they will......ON BLUE!
All you out there better pray to whoever your God may be we don't rebound and have a winning football season because I am sure it will drive a few of you to contimplate suicide or to commit some kind of drastic action to deal with what will be your worst nightmare.

Talk about self-indulgent arrogance, you really are full of yourselves.
Drastic action-send my kids to amnot and tailgate.
It has been three days already let it go it is not going to change the 7-5 score. Move on already. Aram start a football topic baseball is over. McCutchen and Rix over at Amat yesterday.
All these blogs just proves the point as to how we are held to a different set of rule then all other schools . Now because we win a championship we are villans who robbed a Monrovia team of their title . All you out there better pray to whoever your God may be we don't rebound and have a winning football season because I am sure it will drive a few of you to contimplate suicide or to commit some kind of drastic action to deal with what will be your worst nightmare.

Tell you story to Tiger! LOL all the way to the bank...
Enough! Group therapy will be on Sundays for all you those bitters parents from our local schools.

Topic of the day "why do we hate LP, i meant Bishop Div V champions"
Hey Ha Ha:
Golf is not a sport. Its a gathering for fat, rich yuppies to wear ridiculous colored clothes, get drunk, and hit a little white ball on a tee as far as they can because they can't hit a 90 mph fastball from a pitcher or take a hit carrying a football or make a jumper with the game on the line. You gotta come back with something better than "Damien did win golf."
That's like saying "yeah, I got some on prom night from the 300 pound hairy chick with zits on her back.
I think everything Amat did was classy. I think its completely appropriate to have adults drinking in front of high school kids at a high school event. I am totally fine with a drunk woman throwing her soiled diaper under an SUV when a trash can is nearby. I am fine with a 16 year old kid who hasn't started puberty holding a sign that said "Eddie who." I am fine with a priest turning a blind eye to parents booing the other team and with the way the Amat players taunted and talked trash after winning the title. Lastly, I am fine with a coach arguing EVERY call he didn't like.

Is Amat starting the next season against the California School of the Deaf?
What most of us who are coaches or who have coached were wondering is why Napolean....I mean Nieto decided to make himself such a big part of the game by arguing every call. Yes, the tag up call was blown, but Monrovia got screwed on a bang-bang play at first. Nieto, this is about the kids and then I read you called the umpire a cowboy. Is that your subtle way of saying "white boy?" God..I went in not caring who won, but after watching Ricky Martin fans getting blasted outside, the arrogance of their fans and coach, I couldn't help rooting for Monrovia. Nieto has that typical SC snobbery to him.
LMAO NVfan
The voice of sanity is back!
I have been reading all these haters and loser and came to realize you guys are no different then me. So i had an Amat inspiration to lead the losers that can't sleep at night because Amat won. I will form a club call "misery loves misery" i will be your leader, i will teach you how to speak like a true bato, stop working, have lots of kids, drink beer and slap the woman in the ass and tell her to cook some tacos.
You wont have to go to work drive 2 hours of misery, then come to the blog and unleash your hate. I understand that most of you have been baptize in the spirit of your feminine wife, no more, by joining my club you will a true macho and you will no longer have to show your masculinity through a blog. Yes that is right, for all these all you have to pay is 12pck a month. Aram i really have to thank you because through this blog i have finally found my calling.
Congrats Amat!
Now if the Amat wannabees Damien High will make a move with their baseball coaches, maybe they can at lteast make the playoffs again!
Why Not ,then we can pretend to drink and smoke
hey why not hand out bubble gum cigars too

Apple Cider??? You dorks must feel pretty foolish now huh?
aram, im a local high school fan and supporter, love hs sports, but this is way out of hand, i wish you would take this blog off, very disturbing to read this stuff.i playyed at royal oak high school my kids went to los altos and my son coaches there, i dont want to remember this valley for this stuff, at this rate the cons out way the pros,
thank you
Hey vg. I must have hit a nerve with the raider comment or was it because you are a citizen of one of the cities I mentioned . Leaning towards the raider comment because that kick your a _ _ comment sounds just like the loser raider fans you know so much about. Now it's Bassett . Which one is it Bassett or La Puente. And another thing how dare you put yourself in the class of the fine alumni you mentioned . Stand on your own feet . Oh I forgot snakes don't have feet.
Aram,
How much more are you going to let this crap go on? Pull this off the board already. Just like about every other thread posted....it get way out of hand. I do not understand how you can let thngs get out of control. It is so unfortunate how schools are broadstroked by the posting and reading on this blog. It is insane. When will you control this?
I hope I get a reasonable response.
IQ test for all you Amat haters:
A) Amat's baseball team won CIF DV because. Please the appropriate answer(s).
1) Amat's parents enjoy tailgating and socializing.
2) Amat's bathrooms are filthy
3) Amat is located in La Puente
4) Amat's fans are out of control
5) The catholic church has problems and is corrupt
6) Amat's fans are pompous and arrogant
6) Amat's fans act like Raider fans
7) An Amat parent threw a soiled diaper underneath a van.
8) Excellent coaching and athletes.
9) The better team won, fair and square.
If your answer is #8 & #9 your IQ is 180.
If your anwer is 1 thru 7 your IQ is 70.
The champagne some of you are referring to was MARTINELLI'S SPARKLING APPLE CIDER. Just shows you all NOT TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ (unless it's from me). Do you want to keep going?
Big difference between the Raiders and AMAT. We win they don't. How is it that all you haters know so much about Raider fans , could it be that at one time you were right there in the stadium rooting for them with all the other scum bags.
It's pretty evident that in the eyes of anyone not affiliated with AMAT in one way or another will forever be spitting out venom our way. I think even if we were to never win another game or match in any sport, that would still not make people happy because then it would be that we lose incorrectly or because we scored more points then we should have. Now the newest take is because the school zip code is in La Puente as if West Covina , Covina , Baldwin Park , or any other local municipalities are pictures or purity and total law abiding citizenships. Remember your neighbors just might be AMAT families seening as we have no boundries when it comes to recruiting or should I say THE BUYING OF ATHLETES.
that history of winning is coming to an end...... sorry to say.
also I know Eric. and he is not an AMAT parent, he never claimed to be he has a 5 year old son and is an alumn
Blurocca you are not very bright are you? Poor guy you are probably a Mt.View drop out riding the AMAT gravy train..... everytime I make the mistake of reading what you have written 1) it can never be understood, 2) you obviously don't have enough time on your hands to put together a sensible point and 3) I wish I could have that time of my life spent trying to decipher what you are trying to say back.
Bishop AMAT's, as it stands right now, affiliation with the Catholic Church is another reason I have turned my back on Catholism. First it was all those dang preists and now it's this unruly classless group of individuals from the admnistrators on down. Scumbags, Raider/Lancer nation is horrible. What are they going to do next change the school colors to Black and Silver?
Someone needs to slap Blurocca and fast. Where can I get in line?????
To the Anonymous guy below me,
Nobody claims Amat to be such a great athletic school based on one year. It's a history of Winning. Walk into Bishop Amat's Gym and Look at the Banners. D1 or D5 Banners. The Athletic program is good year in and year out. Thats why Amat is claimed to be a Great Athletic School.
Yeah, I am going to believe some out of touch blue hair old priests are going to say something to those drunk Raider...errrr Lancers fans. I saw the blue hair not do a thing as a kid opened a bottle of champagne over Napolean....errrrr....Nieto's head. Its great how blueorca puts it out there that as long as you're Amat through and through, its ok not to act as an adult. What a freaking hypocrite. No wonder everyone hates them. How many other titles did Amat win this year to claim to be such a great athletic school? How about that football team? Girls basketball win? Nope. Damien win anything? baseball, football, water polo? NOPE.
Go to the Amat website and see who is in the championship picture, The Principal, the Athletic Director and the assistant Athletic Director. If there was any misappropriate behavior, don't you agree one of these three individuals would have noticed it and spoke up to those people.
Opps..Eric is not an Amat parent...my mistake.
Amat73, MATMTWTBAG, Blue Moon, John, SGV Athlete, Andrew...
Great postings guys...It's amazing what people with bad sportsmanship will do to belittle our Lancers.
ERIC
No one here believes for one second that you are an Amat parent. Do you have any idea of how many alumni imposters we've had to deal with on this blog? If you have something to say, we'll read your posts and respond. You don't have to go out of your way to make up a lie to seem legit. I mean...you seriously expect us to believe that you are going to send you kid somewhere else because of a dirty diaper thrown under a car?!?! HAHAHAHA!
We know you are not an alumni because if you were and if you know anything about the SGV you would know for certain in the past and now that Amat is the SGV's greatest school both in overall academics and sports. Damien is the other great school in La Verne. So please, spare us your B.S. and just be yourself...we'll read your postings!
P.S. I find it absolutely amazing just how many fans witnessed this diaper throwing...of course, they are all from Monrovia which tickles me...they and Eric of course! hahahaha!
Look people. If there are issues about drinking and rowdy behavior, then call the school and bring it up with those in charge. Posting on this blog is not the way to get those issues addressed. Trust me, they don't look at these blogs for issues like these.
Maty is dead on when he says we do not have a 800 man roster. Because of a few, who had a few in the parking lot we get labeled.? I am sure that if we beat So. Hills, Nogales, CO, or whomever else the cry would not be about all this nonsense, drinking, pamper throwing and the Amat unruly...to them it would be game over congrats to Amat and move on......this Monrovia bashing Amat over losing is going too far....the students played the game not the parents...give the student athlete his due for competing and getting the job done for Amat. I can bet the Monrovia players took the loss with dignity and gave Amat their props, since lots of the players cross roads in travel ball...it is parents like the Monrovia ones that cannot deal with defeat and want to downplay a student athletes accomplishment by bashing their parents...how ridiculous this bashing is......over a baseball game?....suck it up Monrovia there is next year...maybe there will be a rematch...
Congratulations to Lancer Baseball team on the CIF Championship. As I said in a previous post we will be proud to hang the banner in the state of the art Student Activity Center. It is funny how after our boys silenced all the haters by their efforts on the field the focus now goes to how the parents are a bunch of drunk diaper throwing low lifes from La Puente. I am not saying it is right but lets be real. If it had been the Monrovia parents and they had won the game it would have been called a great celebration of knocking off the much arrogant Amat Fans and wrongly divisioned team. If there were some idiots taking it to far, that is uncalled for but do not lump us all into that catagory . You have people like that at all schools and the proof is some of the blogs posted on this site. Being an alumni of a Catholic high school I leave the people blogging to remeber this, LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE.
Eric,
Nice take and you are getting that off your chest as a imposter alum. just state your case and move on you dont need to say you are a Amat parent to make you sound like a hero. Most that were drinking were Amat fans not parents. get it right. Madd you talk about dirty bathrooms and drinking I mean it is funny how a loss for Monrovia and their chance for a BK to BK. spoiled by Amat and everyone needs to jump on something to prove the win was not legit..blame the CIF blame your coach for sticking with the unhittable Eddie so long..but to come out and blame drinking and partying by fans and then start slamming the school for dirty bathrooms what is the point...??...Scoreboard 7-5 and take that with you..I bet the same would not have been said about another school beating your team..Amats a different team we cheat we are classless we pound our chest....what a crock of SH--!.......face the facts people and give us our due respect. the last time I checked the players ranged in the same age bracket. You also had a pitcher that was labeled a college player already..he is going to UNLV that says allot there...he got racked by alot of underclassmen that will be back as seniors next year..The bottom line is Amat came to play and met the challenge of facing your top pitcher and get no credit just some bashing of their team not being a d5 team and bashing of the parents as drunks...again the fans were drinking not the parents......we do not have a 800 man roster.
Listen up people, Here are the Facts.
Bishop Amat- 2007 CIF Div. V Champions.
Monrovia- 2007 CIF Div. V Runners Up.
Bishop Amat- Should be in a Higher Division
Monrovia- 2007 CIF Div. V Runners Up
Bishop Amat- Some Parents aren't good examples
Monrovia- 2007 CIF Div. V Runners Up
10 Years down the line, when you're looking in the CIF record books. You'll see Bishop Amat under 2007 CIF Div. V Champions. Nobody but the few of you bloggers will remember what happend at the game. So, go ahead, and get all your frustrations out on this blog. But remember this, Nobody will ever take away what the boys accomplished. They beat Monrovia HS 7-5 to Win the CIF Championship. Amat will always be CIF Champs and Monrovia will always be Runners up for the year 2007. Those are the Facts. Deal with it.
ok southhillsparent, lets just put oaks christian and ganesha in the same league, most of the kids are the same age, right?
What's the big deal about Amat playing in Division 5. Aren't all high school teams composed of 16 to 18 years olds? If Monrovia's pitcher was so awesome, why couldn't he hold another high school team to less than 5 runs??? He has a Division 1 college offer. No disrespect to Amat as they have some fine players, but in a matter of a few months he will have to face far superior talent.
Division 1-2-3-4-5, I don't care which division it is don't take the accomplishments away from the kids. The one you should be getting on is the administration for letting them fall to the D-5. It happened in Softball also and almost happened in Football. The reasoning I get is CIF dropped them down because the OC teams didn't want to come all the way to LP to play and we were part of the Catholic Schools Leagues. OH did I mention the St. Lucy's and Damien are also Catholic Schools and are not part of this league. There may or may not have been ways to get around this re-alignment but I feel the AD did not do all he could do.
As for the low class parents drinking and partying in the parking lot, this has been brought to Msgr. Carroll before. I have been hearing of this for some time but as long as they are paying their tuition and yearly pledge for the precious gym he will not take action.
Go Lancers, represent yourselves with the dignity and pride that you should.
Gongrats Lancer Baseball CIF D-5 Champions, wear the rings proudly.
Msgr. Carroll must go!!!!!!!!
Andrew,
Why do all the Amat supporters feel the need to go into these long and defensive explanations? The defense put into place is usually one sided, arrogant and to be quite honest self depreciating towards oneself, are you guys trying to prove something to those of us outside of "Lancerland" or to yourself?
I get the sense you are trying to provide justification for your decision as to where you send your children for their education, is the collective self esteem at Amat seriously that tore up?
Believe it or not the majority of us out here are actually productive, happy and have no idea where your campus is even located other than somewhere in La Puente.
Jimmy
so first of all lets congratulate AMAT for winning a title. If monrovia was THAT deserving for back to back championships then they would have won especially with their "so called god" Eddie on the mound. Flat out AMAT was the better team.
Second it was not AMAT's decision to go down to DIV. 5. Why would they want that after winning the Serra League the year before? Not too maention making the playoffs 3 of the four years, winning the first round every year and losing twice to the eventual CIF champions. Not too mention the Serra League is arguebly one of the best leagues in the nation, which is now the Trinity League.
So say what you want about AMAT not doing well in Div. 1, but this year they beat Eddie Orozco and Rubidoux, Dan Renken and Orange Lutheran, Cresenta Valley, those are three pretty good teams.
Third about the transfer rule, why are so many people making a big deal about that? Jealous? And lets look at it this way, the Amat team who won the title just last night had 0 transfers on the team. Amat is more known for losing players to public school rather than getting tranfers in. Losing about 10 players in just the past 4 years.
Somone also mentioned something about AMAT not getting players to DIV. 1 colleges? But since 2000, they have gotten numerous players to DIV 1 colleges. David Gomez, Dennis Wyrick, Richie Burgos, PJ Pilliterrie, David Pierson, Mike Lange, Mark Esparza, Jordan Swaydan, Adam Simon, Matt Lawhorn, Steve Martlaro, Steve Kohatsu, James Joliceur, Mike Lugo, Emanuel Sifuentes, Ryan Goetz, not too mention Maverick Olivarez this year. There are 19 names just to begin with. Now show me another school in the Valley that has that same consistent number of players. YOU CANT!.
Which brings me to my next point in the reason why parents send their kids to such a great school, because not only are the kids developing in sports, but they are also excelling in the classroom. Parents are parents they do what they want, their adults, they like to have a good time just like everyone else.
The truth and the fact is, is that people only wish that their school was like AMAT. They were expected to win this year, and they did. Flat out they did, they beat Monrovia one on one in a fair game.
Congratualtion Lancers!!!!
Mr. Tolegian,
I saw you tackle the Imus issue with some seriously large stones. I wonder if you'd want to weigh in on how Sheffield played the race card in his GQ interview. He says the number of blacks playing baseball is because blacks won't allow other to control them, but latins would. Another angry Rasheed Wallace type athlete or does it have some creedence. Here is a short piece from ESPN.COM
The percentage of African-Americans playing Major League Baseball is at an all-time low and Gary Sheffield says he has a theory why that's the case.
Sheffield
In an interview with GQ magazine that's currently on newsstands, the typically outspoken Tigers designated hitter said Latin players have replaced African-Americans as baseball's most prevalent minority because they are easier to control.
"I called it years ago. What I called is that you're going to see more black faces, but there ain't no English going to be coming out. … [It's about] being able to tell [Latin players] what to do -- being able to control them," he told the magazine.
"Where I'm from, you can't control us. You might get a guy to do it that way for a while because he wants to benefit, but in the end, he is going to go back to being who he is. And that's a person that you're going to talk to with respect, you're going to talk to like a man.
"These are the things my race demands. So, if you're equally good as this Latin player, guess who's going to get sent home? I know a lot of players that are home now can outplay a lot of these guys."
According to a 2005 report by the University of Central Florida Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport, only 8.5 percent of major leaguers were African-American -- the lowest percentage since the report was initiated in the mid-1980s. By contrast, whites comprised 59.5 percent of the majors' player pool, Latinos 28.7 percent and Asians 2.5.
Any athlete will tell you the bottom line is "scoreboard."
Bishop Amat 7, Monrovia 5
The kids can't decide what division they're in, nor their schedule, etc.
Having said that, having a school like Amat in D5 should seriously be changed immediately, the behavior of fans and coaches was reprehensible...Nieto...could you try and attract more attention on the field than you did? Maybe a little Napolean complex? But as for the kids, you won and you deserve the credit for getting it done on the field.
I have been hearing rumors that South Hills baseball coach Kevin Smith is going to replace Dan Henley at Glendora. Is there any truth to that? Is it a good move for either or both school's? Just wondering. I heard coaches/parents talking about that at the allstar game tonight over at Mount Sac.
James Johnson
So let me get this straight. Everyone here is whining because AMAT dropped Divisions and won CIF? I agree with the earlier statement that it is in NO way different than Oaks Christian in lower divisions tearing it up in football (how many Div 1 scholarships came out of OC last year?!?).
But seriously, this isn't about who is in what division...most of you are just complaining about the parents drinking beer in the parking lot and the kids kicking butt on the field because you know you can't afford to send your kids to a great school like AMAT. And if you can afford it, your too greedy to pay for the great education AMAT provides. I mean, we send more kids to major universities every year than any other school in the SGV. I think last year 95% of the student went on to higher learning while the rest of the schools in the Valley are sending kids on visits, IN BUSES, to schools like ELAC, Mt. SAC, and Cirtus...
Get off AMAT's nuts...
Eric,
Your post was Unbiased, Tactful and written with Class...
Nice change of pace...
AnyMouse...
I am an AMAT alumn '94. Let me share with you all who read this, there is a new breed of Lancer followers that alot of alumn are not proud of. Things have changed at the school. I was in attendence at the game with my wife and child and was pretty embarrassed how the AMAT faithful was acting. My wife and I witnessed the 'AMAT Mom' slide the soiled pamper under the SUV parked next to her car where she had just changed her infant. Funny because the SUV she slid it under had the golden "A" on the rear windshield! We were appaled at this especially because there was a trash can within sight. Things only got worse on our way to the gate as we witnessed several blue and gold costumed AMAT fans openly drinking beers and what appeared to be wine coolers. As we entered the game and it got under way I further couldn't believe how 'Classless' our fans have become.
As far as the Lancer Baseball team, I am aware of the situation with the drop in divisions and all that. That is beyond the players control. The bottom line is my school markets itself (recruits) by how many CIF Championships it has. An easy way to add to this total is to drop to the lowest division possible and win as expected. We robbed Monrovia of its right to have been Back to Back Champions of Division V.
The entry below me brags about how our team beat upper division teams all year. This is because that is where we belong! As far as others saying that we should be worrying about, other bigger topics going on in the world, that is an irrelavant statement for the simple fact that just because we choose to share our insight and experience from the Championship game here doesn't mean that this is all we are doing and I speak for 99% of the people on here. This is why Aram created it. So why don't you go elsewhere, to other blogs for worldly topics?
Bottom line again is Monrovia was robbed by CIF. As for my alma mater, I think I'll be sending my kid elsewhere. The days of where AMAT stood for gracious pride, compassion, winning and class is over. I am deeply ashamed that AMAT has become a wasteland for these working class parents that don't think more to carry themselves better and sent an example. There is a time and place for everything. Bars were made for drinking. High School's were made to educate our children and enjoy their accomplishments as they shape their lives into responsible adults and prepare for the future. How can we ensure this if parents are carrying on the way they did acting like uncivilized immoral classless drunkards? Yes, what happened and how parents and Alumn carried on and acted made just as much of a story as what happened on the field. I really don't see it getting any better.
As for Mr. Tolegian, ignore what was going on all you want. Everyone that had any kind of awareness of what is going around them knows AMAT is going downhill.
Apologies to Monrovia. They are the real Division V Champions. I feel really bad about what I witnessed and am very sad to see what my school has become.
Ashamed to be a Lancer,
Eric
Amat Alum...fought not faught, again not againe..you sure you don't have a little "hangy" still?
I like your barometer reading for being classy and in control...."drunk and acting stupid". Is that it?
Wow I''m so glad my kids didn't attend that school. I went there the other day and the bathrooms by the stadium entrance were filthy...not dirty..filthy!
Yeah you love your school but where is the famous school pride I hear so much about. Better yet go to Mater Dei or Loyola, Crespi or St. Francis and see the "upkeep" of those facilities.
Don't believe me go to a practice and see the drunks in the stands. Bishop Amat has lost it's way trying to get back to greatness...wait or was that the Raiders?
Congratulations to both teams on a hard faught battle. It was a great game. Yes, we Amat fans and parents were tailgating. That doesn't mean that we were drunk and acting stupid. It showed that we can all get along, have a good time and show team unity. Amat haters have been around since the beginning of time. Seems to me like the mighty green jealousy monster is showing its true colors againe. Had we not won the game as expected, you'd be hating on that. So go ahead and hate, at least it's because we have championship patches for our jackets.
Matty it's a state law that NO ALCHOHOL IS PERMITTED AT ANY CAMPUS...okay I'll try this again.....ZERO TOLERANCE ON ALCOHOL! BEER AT "PROFESSIONAL" GAMES IS OKAY BUT DRINKING IN FRONT OF MINORS ON "THEIR" CAMPUS IS PROHIBITTED!
Oh what's the use. Have a cold one and tell me all about the glory day of yesteryear. Burp!
It's surprising that Monrovia would have been Back to Back Champions. That would have been aa achievement to last a lifetime. Instead those arrogrant asses (fans) from Amat made surrendering the Championship ridiculous.
Maybe if Amat had any class they would hve shown some humility on line and in front of the Monrovia players/bloggers, instead they pound their chest and YELL LOOK AT ME!!! and SORE LOSERS!!
Blu and Matty I've talked to older Amat grads and they say the same thing..."it's these NEW Amat grads and parents that give the school a bad name". Last night you Blue and Gold Raider fans showed up in full force. Some one saiud it earlier Low Class would be a compliment.
Enjoy CIF's gift Championship. Football season is around the corner and the pounding that will take place at Amat will be twofold. In the parking lot with beers and Buds and on the field by the other team.
Welcome back to Division I were you belong. You'll play the Christians. Bring in the Lions!
look you know what amat beat legit division one two and three teams all season if u forget they won the glendoa were charter oak cresenta valley northview rubidouz all teams that went far in playoffs were supppose to trounce they so everyone else can say whatever they want
look you know what amat beat legit division one two and three teams all season if u forget they won the glendoa were charter oak cresenta valley northview rubidouz all teams that went far in playoffs were supppose to trounce they so everyone else and suck one
look you know what amat beat legit division one two and three teams all season if u forget they won the glendoa were charter oak cresenta valley northview rubidouz all teams that went far in playoffs were supppose to trounce they so everyone else and suck one
what a bunch of poor loser you Monrovia fans and other Amat haters. Is it that bad that you lost that you have to single out the Amat fans for Drunks and being that bad? did it ever occur to you that some of those people in attendence were fans and not the parents of our student body. We have not only professional people on our side but we also have law enforcement parents. Yes I did see the car with the raider sticker and yes there were the misfit I need to have beer at a baseball game but did you see anyone get out of hand and were there any fights?..No...most associate baseball and summer with have a few pops..most enjoy a beer now and then..does it make it right at a HS game? no but it goes on in most HS games...stop acting so innocent to this tradition of lots of baseball fans and parents...the biggest sell at ball games are hot dogs and BEER!...get a life if you are stooping that low after a loss that is bush league your parents frink too and I can bet some one wearing green yesterday drank a beer before the game...It is all good.........come to our football tailgates and enjor the fine part of tailgating with great food on the grills and people with cold ones behaving themselfs (yes you can drink and have fun..............Amat football tailgates you cant beat it...come join us and enjoy the friendly enviroment of people having fun.
NOW LETS GET TO FOOTBALL!
GO SGV!
This is such a hugh issue that CIF passed some new rules effective July 2007
NEW TRANSFER RULE MEMO TO PRINCIPALS AND ATHLETIC DIRECTORS
Author: Pat Schmidt
Source File: newtrnsfrrule.pdf
Published on: May 18, 2007
Whatever,
I'm gonna help you avoid showing your ignorance any more. You can thank me later.
Here is a link for you
http://www.cifss.org/uploadpdf/Bluebook.pdf
You can scroll down to page 75 and read Rule 214. (you might want to read cover to cover to avoid any other "old wives tales that you believe)
CIF treats EVERY transfer (public to private, private to public, public to public, and private to private) EXACTLY the same. EVERY transfer MUST file the same paperwork and provide a bona fide change of address. Do you think for ONE moment that in todays litagation happy world, LEGALLY they could do any less?
Who has blinders on?
It's logistically easier to transfer into a private school, than public. CIF, and the private school(s) don't care where your residence is regarding private transfers. Not so with public schools. You have to show legit residence, or file an APPLICATION for a hardship transfer. (admittidly, not impossible).
If I live in Covina, and want to send my "stud" QB son to BA, Damien, OLU, Oaks Christian, etc... It's just a matter of signing on the dotted line. No school "zone" checking required.
And, if they want the player, they will make whatever concessions ($$) needed to suit him/her up if the family needs financial help.
Take the blinders off, and join the real world.
Please do not start up the Henley topic again, we all got the point.
Whatever,
You don't read so well, so try this again v - e - r - y slow.
Incoming 9th graders and transfers are two different issues.
9th graders - NO eligibility issues anywhere in CIF. Public OR private.
By STATE LAW,in public schools, interdistrict and intradistrict transfers are allowable and a matter of paperwork. They rarely are denied if space is available. Probably not many impacted schools in the SGV, either.
You apparently don't follow HS sports much, especially in this valley. Must not read the Trib much, if you think that it is not VERY easy to transfer into a public school in grades 10-12. And it's probably easier than getting into a private school. I bet that CIF officials would tell you that there are far more transfers OUT OF private schools than there are INTO private schools.
You also, apparently, don't know amat so well, if you think that present administration is throwing around your mythical scholarships/waiver/discounts for athletes. There are very few financial aid possibilities, almost never more than half off, which still means thousands in tuition. And those must be proven as going to those in financial need - athlete or not.
Sorry, just the facts
Tyler Garkow on the mound at Dodger Stadium leading the Chargers to a D4 title was priceless. I wonder how Henley over at Glendora feels knowing he cut Tyler his freshman year. How bout' them apples Henley. Your judgment is the only thing worse than your personality or lack there of. Amazing how Crook was good enough to be a starting quarterback, but not good enough to make your 5-10 team. How long can Leduc sit by and not make a change for the better. Baseball is the ONLY fifth place team in GHS athletics and it has the talent to make the playoffs every year. Its too bad his record, his negative approach and impact he's had on so many haven't made the administration do what's best for the school and the program and most importantly, the kids.
Beat it Henley
Coach Andy Nieto,
as an Amat 02' grad, I was proud to see your ability to bring out of the Lancers what Kendrena did. But, I think its equally as important as you to ask for parents to live up to the tradition we preach. I am with you when you rip the phony fans. but to totally respect you and your message, it would go a long way to say that you don't condone ANY type of thuggish activity, including bashing the other team, drinking at a high school game and throwing soiled diapers under a car. Can't find a trash can? Its the first time I felt my old school was on the same level as Baldwin Park.
How could anyone expect anything different out of Amat than they saw? They always have been and always will be a fraud of arrogant hypocrites who say one thing and do another. Act and preach higher ground and then drink outside a game and act like belligerent thugs while hiding under the "A" banner. You have no one fooled. You're all a bunch of lowly democrats and the city of La Puente is fitting for such bottom feeders. Yeah, we're all "hating" on you, but at least we're doing it from outside the gang territory known as La Puente.
Congrats on winning the little league award, sorry i meant junior high championship. Next year you have another chance to build on your dinasty. Bishop parents will have another chance to tailgate and pretend like their kids are in college. While you drink you get talk about how great your kids are while beating on the little ones. Then after next year you will be back in Div 1 get you ass kick for the next 10 years and you will damn coach Nieto and every move he makes. Remember your girls are the best athletes in your school.
Football is around the corner, i know you dont even want to think about that because... now you will be on the other hand getting your ass whip.
atolegian ...so getting drunk in the parking lot before the game is just an innocent way to show "school pride?"
Lighten up people and get a life, this is just a friggin HS baseball game. We got other more serious issues like a war raging in the middle east, watching sons and daughters being send home in body bags, global warming etc. But some of you rather bash kids, their choice of school and the people that support them.
Everyone loves their school, and some fans are more fanatic and louder than others. So what? it's called school PRIDE. Just give the players some love for giving their best efforts....... win or lose and just be proud they represent the SGV and not dominate the SGV.
So congrats to Charter Oak and Bishop Amat for their CIF victories be it in DI or DX.
aram im down for a new football blog, gets more comments
It is amazing how only one Amat parent is embarassed by their fans behavior. Is there really only one parent there last night who doesn't condone drinking at a hs event in which you are supposed to hold yourself to a higher standard than your kids? If that is considered hate mongering, ya' all better check your bibles again and see where it says "get shi* faced at a high school event and make Amat look like the arrogant bunch of hypocrites that no one likes." Anyone who says Amat is better than others just needs to look where they're located. LA PUENTE...enough said.
Joe Amat
Private/public recruiting is not the same, and you know it.
Enrollment for an eighth grader is open to all schools with room available, but after ninth grade transferring throughout the public school system is much more difficult than enrolling to BA, Damian, St. Paul, etc... Any private school will take in any 9-12 grader regardless of residence address. Not so with public.
And get off the "tuition", double payment (taxes) BS that you privates always fall back on. You know damn well that if a private school wants a student (more likely a player) they will make concessions to the tuition in the form of a scholarship, waiver, discount(s), etc...
Your credibility is zero, due to your affiliations.
congratulations Bishop Amat on your CIF championship win, I'm sure everyone on here agrees they are a good team who played good ball all year.
From what I am reading a lot of people are giving Amat fans back exactly what they had been dishing out to every sports team from every school all year long. Especially during Football season.
I have been reading these blogs from day one and read most of what Amat bloggers wrote, every thread was hi-jacked by someone writing how much better then everyone else Amat is and that is why they are in division I and everyone else in the SGV is not. Constantly were we readers reminded that Amat is in Division I which must mean they are better.
Belittling the wins of any team who is not in divison I was in poor taste and that is now coming back to bite you. So when your baseball team goes from Division I to Division V did you not think others would want to use your own words to shut you up?
You dished it out all year and now it's time to take it.
So Amat fans enjoy your win, the boys deserve to be congratulated by everyone for a job well done. But stop acting so surprised when others turn your own words against you.
Remember humble pie is hard to swallow.
Congrats to the Coach Nieto and lancers. A championship run is never easy and in a "one-and-done" format there are plenty of opportunities for pitfalls along the way. There have been plenty of heavily favored teams in the history of sports, at all levels, that have failed to close the deal.
It's probably time to address the recruiting/travel team/mercenary/best team money can buy concept (again) and try to explain the level playing field that really exists. Read my lips - EVERYONE CAN DO IT!
As far as the CIF is concerned - ANY eighth grader can go to ANY school in ANY district and be IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE.
Here is a Q&A straight from the CIF Rule book(Rule 211 pg 72):
QUESTION: Where may a graduate of the eighth grade of an elementary school attend high school and be eligible for athletic competition?
ANSWER: The student may (as far as CIF Southern Section eligibility rules are concerned) attend any high school in the Southern Section and be immediately eligible for athletics.
As far as the State of California goes according to California state law, you have the right to apply to transfer to another school within your district (an intradistrict transfer) or to a school in another nearby district (an interdistrict transfer). Whether or not you get the school you want depends on whether that school accpets you based on space. If there is room - you are in.
So there is really NO difference between a private school and a public school in terms of their ability to attract student/athletes. The biggest difference is that the private school has to find parents that are willing to pay for their childs education - twice! Once thru State taxes (that help fund YOUR childs education) and another thru tuition to their private school of choice. In all reality, it is the private school that is now at the disadvantage.
You can probably trace the "leveling" of the athletic field in the SGV to this law that makes it easier for the South Hills, Los Altos, Charter Oaks to attract quality kids with quality programs where before families had no real choice. Add to that the opening of some new and desireable schools (Ayala, Diamond Ranch, Chino Hills, Colony, etc) and amat has it's work cut out to stay ahead of the curve. Hiring quality coaches with experience like Nieto is a necessity that has worked in the past in football, basketball, and baseball by paying off with banners and should be the standard, rather than the exception.
AnyMouse,
yes I did guess a 7-4 score, but it did end up 7-5...That 5th run was a given the game was in hand ...Horrible umpiring and I dont know if the arguing by Nieto was helping or hurting the Lancers cause...Seemed like McK was losing confidence as the Lancers hitters went the opposite way down the right field line...Kevin Bonilla did a great job behind the plate blocking lots of pitches that were in the dirt...D5 champs most will knock us for, but hey other than CO who else around can say they are champions...Good to see all Lancer backers pack the seats last nite...great turnout...I see the Lancers repeating next year...the core of the team is back but the big hurdle is trying to replace Maverick and Esuebio.....any pitchers in SGV that are in public school, make the transfer and come on over to this team if you want to play for a championship next year.
Mighty Are The Men That Wear The Blue And Gold!
Good job Bishop...game was really not as close as the 7-5 score...good job getting to Eddie. Had a tough Semi-final game against Temple City scrapping together just 4 hits, but came back strong against Eddie pounding 11 hits in just 3 2/3 of an inning. Congrats.

What kind of low life would even think it is acceptable to get faced in the parking lot before a high school baseball game much less acutally do it?
I just what I thought, the cockroaches and haters have come out of their holes to spew their venom. Haven't your momma taught you something in life? If you've got nothing nice to say.....than keep your dirty trap shut you bunch of jealous hate mongers!!!!! But I forgot you don't have a Momma cuz you were raised by your two Daddy's.
I'm very disappointed by most of these comments. Technically, nobody is really breaking any rules. If fans want to go to games and comment (good or bad) on what they saw, I've got no problem with it. I was hoping people would just congratulate Amat or say things like "I don't like you guys ... but" and simply move on. But this is baseball, home of the venomous thread.
I saw none of what some people are alleging. It seemed to me like the Amat side was pretty quiet throughout the game until it was down to the last strike. And the players and coaches heaped nothing but praise on Monrovia and McKiernan.
Monrovia lost to a traveling all-star team.
I am not a Monrovia fan or an Amat fan. I went to watch the game with my son and saw what I saw. I doubt Nieto would be ok with the way you all acted. Its pretty sad when you can't congratulate your kids, but expect your adults to act like adults....especially at a so-called moral environment like Amat.
All of you clowns need to lighten up...
And I thought I took football a bit too seriously! hahahaa!
I'm not intoxicated nor am I delusional. And again, rather than focus on myself, you should give props to Monrovia for keeping the game close.
Where is your pride and self respect???
You dishonor the Wildcats with your empty rants about simple-minded topics.
So freakin what if some fans like to tailgate the way tailgating has been done since tailgating was created.
Will you all continue to claw at the indiscernible?
I fear that the most loquacious of you will continue to spit hate with the most mephitic stench.
SHINE ON! SHINE ON! ON BLUE! ON BLUE!
would Nieto be cool with that kind of representation at the game? Time to sound off little man
How can a "religious" school tolerate that kind of classless behavior? Are you at a Menudo concert Amat fan? A mother throwing a soiled diaper under a car? I guess you can take the thug out of La Puente, but you can't take the La Puente out of the thug. Its too bad, because the kids all seemed to have class their parents and fans failed to show.
Wow...I always knew Amat had it share of detractors, but I always thought it was jealousy of their winning programs until I saw Amat fan on Sat night. Raider fan is a perfect description of these rude, arrogant thugs. I am not anti-Amat too.
Hey blue,
"Mighty Are The Men That Wear Blue And Gold"
Might what? Might loaded and behind the wheel in blue and gold lycra?

The orca essentially said it is ok to get snot nose drunk in the parking lot, what a clown.
My husband just passed out so because I am a big fan of Aram I thought I'd sneak (like my husband did that 40 oz of Budweiser into the game tonite) onto the computer and let you people know that the Lancers know they should be in a higher division and there was absoloutley nothing they could do about it. It was a mistake by CIF and that's it. The kids really like Monrovia and think they should be the real champions but they have pride too. Monrovia played great and deserve to be Back to back champions. We really want to go back to Division 1 but although we recruit our enrollment doesn't allow us to officially be there anymore. God Bless you all.
Mrs. O
AMAT parents are scumbags
guys like blurocca are guys that have been beat up all their lives, picked on, picked last in grade school recess games and now enjoying this unfair matchup victory - i'll bet he's drunk right now too.
scum
Who said it was okay for parents to be drinking in the parking lot before games? not just a few of them, all of them. Low lifes, truly low lifes.
I know Aram is asleep right now but I can't wait to get his response to this thread in the morning. The big fella will be getting up around 2pm or so then hopefully he'll do his normal ethical censoring of all this. Be sure to leave your thoughts Aram.
Raider fans and Amat fans tell me is there a difference? Scum = scum
Fully disgusted myself, my apologies Monrovia.
Lotsa jalopies pulled over by CHP on the 60 west last night, Gold "A" on every trunk lid or bumper. From tail gate to tail bait, Ha thats justice
What in the world is a "Victa"?
Latin? Priest like? Yuck!
Sounds like orca is trying to convince himself that he is important, No one is buying pal
Is it possible to believe this bluorca guy is more hated then me? man you really must be a scum. i would have a beer with you but i hate Bishop parents and i would never pick the soap around those catholic priests
Physics Cl ASS
you are the biggest idiot on this blog. What an idiot I can't even believe you typed that about the Bassett in Div1 being the same as what AMAT did tonite. It is CIF's Fault not the Lancer team.
Watch for roadblocks indeed. I already seen a few AMAT parents getting sobriety tests on the way home from the game! AMAT fans are the worst.
CLASSLESS.
hey bluorca,"Amat Victa" that is great, I think i am going to the same thing, put together a bunch of good 14yrs old players and pretend they are 12. Go to the little league World Seris and after the game go "Covina Victa"
Wow what an acomplishment, can't win a lick in Div1 in any of the sports and can barely beat a Div5 team in the championship. Remember this, you had to beat La Puente to get there so lets not brag about beating a tired Eddie.
blue orca
you are such an idiot man. call it like you see it scumbag - highway robbery. if you are proud of this victory tonite - you probably celebrate when a dog gets hit by a car. I have been reading your enteries on Aram's blog for sometime and you sound like a real 1st class jerk which is reflective of your low IQ. I bet you are drunk right now, you bum.
-RW
If Bassett won a Championship in Division I would that not be an accomplishment? So what is it when Bishop Amat does the same thing.....only in the "other" direction?
Enjoy the Championship.
Now the City of Monrovia will welcome "their" team back to "their" city while Bishop Amat will scatter across the San Gabriel Valley. Watch those road blocks.
Hey Blueorca,
"Pop open a cold one"? That was Amats motto all evening.
The San Gabriel Valley was cheated tonight.
The Monrovia Wildcats were cheated tonight.
Bishop Amat won like they should have. They are a former Division I team.
The Umpires were bush league. Hurting each team the same.
CIF MADE A MISTAKE AGAIN AND NOW THE MONROVIA WILDCATS ARE PAYING FOR IT.
And Yes I saw Amat fans tailgating and drinking like they were at Legg Lake in El Monte or Santa Fe Dam. I even saw an AMAT mother throw her baby's dirty diaper under a parked car.
Isn't AMAT a religious school? What's the world coming too?
bluorca
dude, how old are u? when did u graduate from amat? 1985?
Did you drive home drunk with your kids in the car or did you have the decency to let your kids go home on the team bus?
Tailgating at a high school game 40 miles away...you're right Bluorca...let's pop open one up! I trink I'm trunk!
Amat probably had more DUI'S last night than runs for sure
sore
sore
sore
sore
sore
sore
sore
LOSERS.
Could ya'll be more pathetic???...I mean...Bitching about certain fans tailgating and drinkin brew? HAHAHAHA! Wuteva!
CRY
CRY
CRY
CRY
CRY
CRY
CRY
SOME MORE!
And then when your done, give props to the Wildcats for keeping the game close ya whiners.
After your done giving props to Monrovia...pop open a cold one! And celebrate Amat's victory!!!
AMAT VICTA!!!
AMAT VICTA!!!
AMAT VICTA!!!
"Mighty Are The Men That Wear Blue And Gold"
Bishop Amat delivers the PUNCH lINE to the biggest joke in CIF!
What do you call a Division I team that sinks to Division V to win a Championship?
You don't.
Aram the umpires were the worst I have ever seen! They looked like the New York Yankees when they played the Boston Redsox today. At least they were consistent. Consistently Bad!!!!!!!!! What a joke they had to miss like 10 calls and that goes for both ways. It hurt Amat first then Monrvia then they hurt Amat again.... where do they find these guys?
Congrats to AMAT players even though they know they shouldn't be in Division V
I wonder if their Football team will do the same thing? and No this wasn't like Oaks Christian in Football, you idiot whoever said that, OC had superstar NFL caliber athletes
I think it's going to happen, AMAT Football division V in an effort to bring back an winning season.... it may be worth a shot Verdi
Let's see La Puente puts up 6 runs on the greatest team money can put together and now Monrovia gets cheated out of their Championship, after scoring "5" runs, by the CIF who figures, "let's give a Championship to the Old Dinosaur" before it dies of of neglect and self absorption.
Before the Lancer defenders come out of the wood work let's examine the year in Division 5....boys basketball was a joke and got smoked. That's the same athletes!
Also before the moderator raps my fingers and tells us to respect their championship I have a question.
Is Bishop Amat's Championship like Oaks Christian's ..well no because Oaks Christian is one and done in terms of talent while Bishop Amat is done with ONE as in divisions/talent.
Enjoy your gift. Crespi, who should have been your year long "dancing partner" beat you in baseball just like they beat you in football...like a drum!
Maybe I'm missing some accomplishment but isn't Bishop Amat a sports factory? Why are they stealing Championships in Division 5? At least Oaks Christian delivers Divion I players by the dozen for their "money".
As far as Amat fans being Raider fans, well Raider fans are in search of a team. They did have a star receiver no one could control. And there was player on player violence this season, and the best players ARE leaving. The fans are "out of control" and finally just like Raider fans they want to get rid of the "old man" running the show! Yup they're the RAIDERS of paraochiol schools.
Last point...WHAT IS IT WITH PARENTS WHO DRINK AT A HIGH SCHOOL GAME AND THEN "DRIVE HOME DRUNK!!!!!!" Great example. Do they sell beer in the stands at high school games...NO they don't because it sets a poor example.
Incredible.
everyone loves monrovia!
True losers last night were the Bishop Amat fans, I felt like I was at a Raiders game
Sickening
Monrovia beat the spread, True DV baseball champs for certain.
7 to 5? Looks to me like Monrovia did win no matter who received the trophies.
Amat Baseball in Div V is nothing different than Oaks Christian Football in Div 9 so blame CIF.
Lansore4Life
are you going to sit there and say that monrovia fans and parents and anyone with any sense knows that putting the lansores in div V was right? it was wrong they should have been in div III at the lowest. but V? c'mon you nitwit. cif messed up, and they know it. it's funny to me how all you lansores are the same - no class, no dignity, primadonnas that spend your time talking about nothing but yourselves - pathetic. i hope the quakes do play in division V next year like gene scott says and give your false sense of ego a check. you guys are all bums.... i am surprise the archdioses still associates with you all - but then again the catholic church has it's problems and corruption so it all make sense to us
you know what the problem is monrovia does not have the opportunity to recruit the whole sgv and beyond to make a team. I dont think private school shouls play public school in cif, It is just a unfair advantage. Go back to D1 and lose in the first are second round where every team recruits.
amat you guys no you dont belong way down in division 5 - how cowardly is that
It was like a big brother beating up his little brother and then celebrating about it.
could anyone tell me why the amat lakers why they'd drop to division 5 from division 1
monrovia is the best team of the true division 5 sorry to say. i heard next year CIF is going to put the rc quakes in division 5 so look out amat you'll get a taste of your own medicine.
amat fans are truly the most annoying i have every seen - no wonder difiori and kendrena left
what a joke cif what a joke what a joke unbelievable
-Dr. Gene Scott
amat you guys should feel real terrible about this injustice
thats not hate that's common sense
Amat Fan, my little league trophy is bigger then yours.
final score 7-5? my goodness do you think of yourself as Div I?
I once one a little league championship too, believe me i also got a trophy
Congrats to the Lancers!!!! We got two Baseball Champs in the SGV. Hey a champion is a champion.
Let's see how many haters are coming out of the woodworks tonight to spew their hate.
Hail to the victors!!!!!
NVfan go eat some crow you moron.
MatlvsMeetwithBags or something like that may have guessed the final score correctly, he had it 7-4 Amat...
Swengali?
Anymouse...
Amat Amat Amat!!!
Just win baby!
A.T. nice use of the scrubs......
Mike the Clone
