Since there's so much Tartans football talk, I figured this would help.
Mendrun beats Chino Hills ... confusion ensues ... CLASSIC!!!
Los Altos vs. Rowland playoff game ... Ray Rodriguez runs right by the fat man (me) on the first TD.

It will be an honor to see you play. Tell your Dad he's done a fine job. He should be very proud of you. Very few individuals have the clarity and maturity you have exhibited here. You're right..everyone speaks his/her mind on here. I think for us "old farts" this new medium has a little getting used to. Too many times comments where made that we would never say to each other's faces. Maybe with time we'll all get better at conducting ourselves like we wish our kids would..with class, dignity and integrity.
Best of luck at La Verne. It's a great school from everthing I've heard.
Are you and your family attending the All Star game? Would love to meet your Dad. I wish more players took the time to thank those responsible for teaching them the game.
One more question...does Chase ever stop being Chase? lol
Good luck at La Vern Chad Nory's,
It was fun to post back & forth with your dad Joe
about Rowland & West Covina. Tell him hi for me,
from Dan.
Frank-
Yes I will be playing at La Verne. Got some good talent over there would be cool to get some people out there to check us out. It looks like there will be a good incoming class. Anyways my inspiration and passion for the game came from my Junior All-American coaches(the Avina family). Everything I know about football came from them. My dad, as well, was a big inspiration to me. Don't think he ever missed a game! One thing about "Papa Joe" was that you always wanted to hear what he had to say...Friends from the team would come over throughout the week and I would be doing my homework or something and they would be out in the living room talking to my dad...He always had great words of wisdom...Sure he liked to speak his mind on here during the season, but who didnt? All in all i just want to tell him thanks for all the support over the years and to the Avinas as well for teaching me everything i know about this game!
Their's a passing league game at South Hills. Are they playing a real game? and when I say real game are their lineman involve? Are they both wearing pads and ready to hit someone. If not then its just another practice for all the squads present. Everybody knows passing league is totally different from football. In some case its just not real football. Dont get me wrong the athletes show up to play. But playing tag and actually hitting somone are completely different. When you have a 6 foot 4 lineman in front of you trying rampage the QB. I believe its quite different. Bottom line is, football is only football with pads on. Have fun watching two hand touch, let me know if any of these school plays in a real game then maybe it will be worth watching.
There is going to be a passing league tournament at South Hills tomorrow (7/5) at about 4:00. South Hills will be playing St. Bonaventure, Bishop Amat, and Diamond Ranch. I know that we are all waiting to see what happens with Amat vs. South Hills. Come see it!!
Norys # 4
You were a leader on the field and based on your junior year I'm sure you deserved your #1 Ranking. I asked the question to see if you were left off the ALL STAR team because of anything other than your on field performance.
Too bad about the hand. I twisted my finger so bad my soph year after it was crushed between 2 helmets that when I looked at my palm I saw my finger nail on my middle finger staring back at me...ouch. Completely turned around! So I feel your pain.
I'm glad to see you are an exceptional young man well on your way to fulfilling your dreams and continuing to make your family proud. Best of luck at the University of La Verne, they're lucky to have you. Your honesty and candor regarding your senior season and you wishing your peers well speaks volumes of your maturity and character. Papa Joe must be very proud them turn the corner.
If you are going to play for ULV I'd like to know because it would be an honor to see you play. I know ULV has been down for awhile but players like you would certainly help.
Best of luck in all your future plans and good luck with the hand.
#4 if you could indulge me one last favor...any thoughts on the people who taught you "the love of the game" and a little something about your biggest fan...Papa Joe?
The floor is yours young man.
Wheres Joe-
I will actually be proudly attending the University of La Verne in the Fall. I unfortunately crushed my right hand in last years homecoming game against Walnut wich kind of screwed me up, but all in all i didnt have the best season i couldve had...
I think the funniest thing is that I've began summer running at the college and i know a few of my ex-teamates have begun at the schools there attending, yet after a few months i come on here and i see talk about last years season it kind of amazes me. I mean lets move on...McD was good player...never had the chance to see him live but now he is a college student-athlete and now himself, as well as the rest of '07, must start all over and prove ourselves once again...
Anyways good luck to the guys in the all star game..and good luck in college...im out.
chill out chase your the best.
Football Fan,
Another thing you Hater...
Mikes not a Rhodes Scholar and either are you...So again...
Lay off the kid...
You annoy me and talk S@#T that you cant back up...
You are straight up a "HATER", go drink some haterade know it all...
AnyMouse
Football Fan,
If thats all he becomes then its still more than what you were...
Quit being a Hater and respect the guy as the Warrior he is...
He is admittedly 10X the football player my kids or your kids are...
And thats even if your kids some local "Stud", Mikes on a whole different level like it or not...
Is that what has you so upset???
Most likely it is, just keep your mouth shut and as I said respect his accomplishments...
You and your whole football family combined didnt account for 50 plus TD's in 2 years, did you???
Made you think huh? The answer is no isnt it? Again...STFU...
AnyMouse...
P-Chase,
Would you mind going to the top thread and telling us what the heck happened in the scrimmage on Saturday? I know you have takes.
yeah ur right i suck. not going anywhere right now except to jc fullerton. didnt do much to lead rowland this year. o and i definitely didnt do squat in the south hills game.(ask coach bogan) i just talk alot. all my peers and opponents feel the same way. 6 is just a talker.and im definitely a me me me guy thats why i'll be heavily supported by friends and fam at the all-star game. i was a quitter in west co game just like the LA game.
Aram hate to bring up a sore subject but all this Rowland talk got me wondering...what ever happened to the #1 ranked LB in your Preseason Top Ten?
Norys was his name and his family caused quite a mess with the off the wall comments. Heard he was going to play at UC Davis with Damien's Hile? So what gives? Did he have injuries, a bad season, poor performances or what? From "one" to "None"...well that's NOT suppose to happen.
As far as Chase...as a player he's a great talker and maybe a great team mate as well...I know he gets involved. I also like and admire actually that he comes into the blog and speaks his mind.
How refreshing that a player can speak for himself and be entertaining at the same time. I saw him at Damien during basketball All Star practice and he NEVER stopped talking...and leading...it was fun to watch.
Big props to the "little guy". Chase #6 what is your opinion of McD and the "move" he put to reverse his field on Wednesday. Wasn't that awesome...I saw ALL the players "hoop and holler" after seeing that D-end (no name necessary) sit down and reach for air....THAT'S WAS SICK!!!!SICK!!! SICK!!!!
Any other thoughts about your playing career of thos ethat meant alot to you?
Chase...the floor is yours.
aram and funny you both hit right on the money.End of story.
I can't keep quiet here. I saw some things toward the end of the season that had little to do with the coaching staff. I was at the West Covina game when Rowland was spanked and some players completely quit.
It was recognizable from the stands where I stood with some area coaches and from the sideline where I also stood. I'm not going to name names, but that team started pointing fingers and some guys just stopped trying. It carried over into the LA game and when things went bad, they really went bad. My only conclusion was that in the end, Rowland couldn't handle success and expectations nor the adversity that comes when things goes bad.
You can put some of that on coaching, but in this case I wouldn't. What can coaches do when things degenerate? Also, I think the fact that so many players went both ways caused some wearing down toward the end of the season.
"blasting all the LA cats".......?......what i saw was Number 6 getting beat by the TE for a touchdonw (making a horrible read on the play, not wanting to go for the big hit)....also going for the legs against the TE...where are you playing ball next year 6?......dont get me wrong chase you were a good safety but maybe this ME ME ME attitiude is what got you guys no further than round one

LOL,rowland was never in that game because of a coaching staff that should not of been,im sorry rowland won the games they did because of easy games, the sh game was won because of two players, and chase you were not one of them, two players that step there game up.Until rowland decides to hire a real coaching staff and not pe teachers or history teachers they will not win anything just wait until they play sh this year they better bring some body bags out there.
Not a fan of either LA or Rowland but I like the playoffs and was there at that game.......It was over by halftime and it was getting boring. I sat on the Rowland side and their fans knew they were getting their ass_s kicked. I went hoping to see two heavyweights go at it.....I was really surprised Rowland went down like that. Chase did you ever get the feeling that coaching had something to do with it and LA gameplan was allot better than what your coach came to this game with. Not only players turn up their skills in playoff time ala Ira Thomas as you mentioned but coaches turn it up as well......Your coach got outcoached and did not prepare your team for playoff ball...he thought we are great this year lets just show up.......
WOW. LA'S mistakes. are u serious that was arguably LA's best game of the year. We dropped TOUCHDOWN passes, MISSED TACKLES that ended up as touchdowns, FUMBLED balls that ended up as touchdowns,so lets not talk about what could've happen minus mistakes.YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE HECK UR TALKIN ABOUT.I WAS JUST MESSIN AROUND.But I defintely held my own that night.BUT IF U ASK ANYONE IN THE VALLEY THEY'LL TELL YOU LA CAUGHT US ON THE WAY DOWN AND WE DEFINTELY CAUGHT THEM ON THEIR WAY UP. YOUR FULL OF IT IF YOU CAN HONESTLY SAY LA WASNT PLAYIN THEIR BEST BALL OF THE YEAR. IRA THOMAS HADNT RAN LIKE THAT THE WHOLE YEAR. BUT ONCE PLAYOFFS CAME HE WANTED TURNED INTO A DIFFERENT PLAYER.SO DONT COME AT ME WITH WHAT THE SCORE COULD'VE BEEN.
yea but who won that game Chase? ..... You did a good job but LA put the beatdown on Rowland.... The score made the game seem closer then it really was.... If it weren't for LA's mistakes that game could've easily been 42-7 and that would've been ugly.... By the way did you also see some of the hits you and your teammates took as well?? .... =D
who"s that guy blasting all the LA cats at the end of their highlights????lol!!!! Aram u already know wussup!!hahaha!!! its funny how they cut the scenes all quick huh!!! its cuz 6 was hurtin 'em!!!!
who"s that guy blasting all the LA cats at the end of their highlights????lol!!!! Aram u already know wussup!!hahaha!!!
"After Further review the players met at mid field for the coin toss and it was determined that"?
Walnut still sucks!
Walnut Person,
You talk about Demographics, race and ethnicity. Doesn't Walnut have a pull from D'bar and Nogales as well.?..some sort of Lottery system?..I guess you must be getting some of their Softball players, Swimmers and girls Basketball players. to take that area back to the top in the boys programs one of the three schools (Walnut, D'bar, Nogales) should get the cream of the crop players together and then you can really form a Football or baseball team worth recognition....For football the area talent should merge and go to Walnut or D'bar...for baseball the talent should go to Nogales because of legend Romano. if all of the above fails and If you have a real Stud player as a parent the private school is not a bad choice...Amat, Damien,
DBrown from Ctown poster,
You still didn't name a middle of the road team from the Inland Empire or OC or LA. city that can whack the SGV's best, be specific. If a school is getting killed by the Crenshaws, Dorseys,Servites etc.
they will probably lose to the better teams in the SGV, now if their losing close ones to the
football farms of So. Cal. then they aren't middle of the road teams. So once again name your middle of the road teams.
One other thing, for you to call any program a
joke is low. These coaches & kids put a lot of effort & hard work all summer & thru the season
into these programs let alone the blood, sweat & tears they endure, & even the least talented program will provide opportunity & memories for kids that otherwise would'nt have anything else
going for them. Its no joke to the kids that are involved in these programs. Still waiting for that middle of the road team of yours.
Forget youtube, it's all about MYSPACETV.COM....
Walnut Person ,
You have such lousy boys teams from top to bottom and Amat had no businees scheduling your football team, but if there is some talent over in the Walnut football program, you should send them to Amat...I am sure you can afford it dollar wise. If I am a Parent of a Walnut kid that has potential in football and baseball I would pay for the private Amat education and sports programs...Why do parents like you continue to keep your kid playing in a dead end situation. Get him some recognition and a poetential Scholorship by bringing him to Amat. Dont sit back and be part of that year in and year out losing program, jump ship now and have him become a Lancer. Lots that live in Walnut are enrolled at Bishop Amat. I give props to your girls teams, they hold their own but your boys teams are just not going to measure up. As of right now IIoilo, Lee, Williamson and Acevedo should be sent to Amat...they are wasting their time and energy playing at Walnut. I dont know why some of you parents have not done this long ago.??? Transfer in it is not too late.
Well since there is all this talk on how we should drop divisions and schedule ST John the Baptist and so forth maybe this was to show you out there what would happen if we did drop to the lower divisions. Just kidding so don't go overboard with comments. The staff must of had their reasons for this contest , after all it is just a passing drill. Maybe they are trying to build confidence in the QBs .
when i said sgv, i wasn't comparing west sgv to east sgv... as both are joke.
as for the "middle of the road team" i'm talking about teams that get pimp slapped by the likes of crenshaw, mater dei, dorsey, servite, st bonny year after year after year, but still manage to sneak into a non scrub league playoff.
despite the fact a lot of elite teams in those areas (aka where hs doesn't resemble pop warner leagues) have ownership of them, they could still whack out the likes of the sgv "elites" such as South Hills, Damien, etc. with no problem.
Wow - Amat vs Walnut - obviously, the talent won't match up - and I'm not even a football fan to recognize that - overall, Walnut athletics will suffer in the divisions that they are placed in - so we have a student body of 2000+? Factor in the demographics/race/ethnicity and we don't really have a large pool of "athletes" to pick from - CIF ranking/Division selection criteria need to be revisited - give us a f'in break
People are getting a little out of hand. Criticizing the first passing league game? I'm sure Amat will have many passing league games this summer. Heck, isn't there a four way with SH, DR and St. Bonnies later. Last time I checked Amat was not that good in any summer league game last summer. Now with a team coming together again and had a good showing, they have to read from certain people on this blog that thier performance meant nothing.
Hey, I was there and I was impressed. People left you for dead lancers and you could have given up. BUT you are still fighting and competing and I am looking forward to watching compete this weekend at the Bonita tourney. There are always good teams there and the competition everyone expects you to face will be there.
WOW!!!! and WOW!!!!!! again.
Write this date down. Bluorca has finally admitted that the great Amat makes mistakes. Welcome to AA Amat-Anonymous. My name is bluorca and I am an Amataholic.
I gotta agree with Lancer 2 DN on this one...
In order to not only compete but win against the best programs in the Southern Section, a team must take every opportunity to practice against the best.
Practicing against Walnut or any similar school was and would be a mistake for any team in the Pac-5.
LAC,
I have it 42 to 10 for the East victory...
Just too many weapons...
AnyMouse...
I am the original Whale Hunter, Blu already knows this....and that last piece from W.H. II was not me coming out of retirement.....I am surprised Amat even scheduled Walnut for a passing league game, sheesh! Even we beat Walnut last yr.......they're not gonna get you ready for O-Lu....but then, you dont have a snow balls chance in hell anyhow....
Hey Aram great job with the All Star coverage and the profiles. I was wondering if you could do a story on the linemen who have stepped up in "class" so to speak and held their own like the Northview kid. He's very good.
Another story might be the level of comraderie between players from rival schools. It's a sport blog but as any player knows sports is about working together for a common cause.
By the way heard Chino Hills' Harkey and Birmingham's Milton Knox gave oral commitments to UCLA....Seen Knox beat Dorsey with Stephon Johnson at the Coliseum as a freshmen. What a baller.
You know what would be pretty sweet is a story by the players giving props to their coaches or Dads/moms ...you see them in the stands and their pride is just so genuine...it's pretty humbling. I'm sure the players wouldn't mind bringing something POSITIVE to this BLOG..
Players the floor is yours....How about it Hile? McD? Travis? Foss? ect.???
How 'bout it Aram?
Aram ,
In Walnuts defense?....thats just it, there was no defense. Amat completed at least 90 % of their passes...Choosing to do this is no measurement of Amats passing / defending abilities. I mean seeing how Amat is headed to the Bonita Passing tournament this is no team to tune up on...A Midget team in JAA is better than this Walnut team... I am a backer of Amat but this was ridiculous. Come on Verti you are not going to be seeing Walnut type defensive backs in the Serra. Sure someones says it is about refining skills and it means nothing and yes it is true, but to pass against a pop warner type football team is just plain dumb....I want to see us bring up our skills and pass against Damien, So Hills, Los Altos, Glendora, CO.........lets go out and get this done we have no business messing with Walnut unless we are swimming against them....come on Verti step it up.!
In Walnut's defense, I must point out that the Mustangs are a Wing-T offense.
Well Amat 73.... I guess the "blast" came from within! ( Lancer 2 DN)
Start defending playing Walnut and picking them off 13 times. This should be interesting.
That's a long way from Division I football wouldn't you say? I still think St. John the Baptist takes you into overtime!!!!!
Let the games begin....Blu...the floor is yours!
Some people are just ignorant its a passing league game. No one was hyping it up. Their weren't any flyers or invitations. Their were no tickets being sold. If people were smart they would realize passing league is nothing serious. Its a practice for goodness sakes. Two teams trying to get better. Two teams trying to improve against people other then themselves. Some people really have no clue of football. They gotta figure it out. Who cares who people pass against in the summer. Their are no pads, no tackling, just practicing plays, and precision. But some people blow it up to the point that champions will be born because of who they play in passing league. Grow and let every team in the valley practice to get better regardless of who they practice against. Some people are just that dumb.
That was not a fair match up yesterday with Amat and Walnut. Why bother doing that. Walnut is terrible...I mean Amat must have picked off 13 passes to Maybe Walnuts 1 (if that).......Why would Verti do this?...as a confindence booster?...geeze Amat pick on someone your own size...that was disturbing...it was like USC playing PCC........give me a break...if that is a indicator of Walnuts team man are they in for a long season. Maybe 1 or 2 standouts. They will be playing So. Hills?..boy are they going to get worked.
just wondering,
We are still here looking for blips on the radar screen . It seems there is a low on all the AMAT bashing at the moment but I am sure something will come along to fire up the troops.
Just Wondering
We are here...but this blog entry by Aram is not about Amat but on the great seasons that Los Altos, Damien, and Glendora had last season.
The East will school the West!!!
go tartans #40
hahahahaha
go tartans #40
hahahahaha
go tartans #40
hahahahaha
Let me go on record n say the WEST Has NO CHANCE against the EAST this year. Im sorry but I've seen both rosters and the east is just to talented. Way to many athletes on this team. I could just go on and on with the players...
(Harris, Foss, McDonough, Chase, Wallace, Lavea, etc etc.)
I predict a 35-14 win for the East.
Who ever posted as "DavidBrown from Ctown is a joke",
Be more specific, which middle of the road teams
from 909, The OC or LA. would stomp the SGV top teams. I think your the one thats a joke.
ARAM!
when are you going to do the top linemen?
that should be up here too cmon linemen need lovin too
thanx!
ARAM!
when are you going to do the top linemen?

we will see who has the real team when the east faces the almighty west
sports fan,
if you say all the schools over here are garbage than why are you on this site? your probably on here to read about real teams
sportsfan,
when it comes to football, the west is the retarded younger step-brother of the EAST. Duh!!
Why is it that most in here hate Amat. Is it arrogance?....Amat has toned it down allot in here after the Wells and the Mass exodus.....Seems like most are laying low here.........where are the big dogs?...Bluorca, MATBAG, amat72, joe amat, ????...Your still the D1 amat.......where have the support staff gone to?...
too bad that all the schools you write about are garbage... the teams robledo writes about are worth reading about
If the sgv football is such a joke then why are you on this thread
ALL YOU FREAKING HATERS SHOULD COMBINE AND FORM A UNION!!
Rodriguez is a monster and should be the top TE in the valley. To see this kid, he has been working.
these teams are not legit. try playing even the middle of the road teams from the east 909s, orange county, la city, or even ventura county. these teams will get stomped. sgv football is a joke.
Haha Glendora
Haha Glendora
all three of these teams are legit
