PRESEASON: Top 10 receivers in the SGV
So fast it's absolutely necessary to get you the ball. But it was obvious you weren't quite heavy enough to take the pounding of a running back. And so you were born: The High School Football Receiver. Some call you finesse. But it's OK, receiver is a finesse position. Some call you play maker, and it's true.
When the team is down 10 in the fourth and needs something big to happen, who do they look to? When the game is tied and it's 4th-and-8, they need you to come up with that pass over the middle. When it's play action time, they need you to run by the corner who bit on the run. Ahh, but wait, you need a QB for any of us to see just how good you are. Then you need a coach who knows how to utilize you best. Are you the kind of guy who can't beat anyone deep, but any jump ball is yours? Or, are you as good as gone with a little shake and some daylight? Or are you both? While I personally don't condone any NFL team taking a receiver with a first round draft pick, I don't completely discount the position either. It's rare that you'll see a championship football team at any level point to its receivers as the reason why they're wearing the rings. Unless you're the Detroit Lions, the position is kind of an afterthought. A football team needs a good QB. It needs a good offensive line. It needs a good running back. You got those things, and the QB has enough time to get the ball to the open receiever, who is only open because the defense concentrated on stopping the good running back first. And they say O-Line is a thankless position. Sheesh! Here we go ...
1. Dorian Wells, South Hills - Who else, right? I stand by it, on any team, Wells is the best player in the SGV. Just so happens he plays receiver (mostly). Personally, I don't think it's a coincidence Wells ended up at South Hills. There's probably no other place in the Valley that he'd be showcased better. Wells will be the No. 1 target for whomever is under center. The stats should follow, as should the wins. South Hills projects for a 14 game season and I'd expect Wells' stats to benefit greatly from that. After this year, we'll see Dorian on Saturdays.
2. Tommy Cogburn, South El Monte - If you've seen him play, you know that Cogburn could line up for just about anybody in SoCal. Talk about a nice blend of speed and hands. Mission Valley League coaches know that if Tommy has the ball in the open field, it's curtains for their defense. Cogburn is another product of the SpeedKillz program and it should show. As good as the talent is in the MVL this year, it's my belief that he's your early favorite for league MVP. Cogburn had 1,195 yards receiving and 14 TDs last year. I'd expect some improvement on those already good numbers.
3. Mikey Harrell, Charter Oak - He caught the game winning TD in the final minute of CO's win over Diamond Ranch last season. He caught CO's only score in the championship game loss to El Dorado. Harrell made his bones last year as the No. 2 receiver behind standout Michael Johnson. This season, he's the No.1 guy and gets the pleasure of having a fully developed Chris Allen to throw to him. Harrell might be the most fun to watch of any player on the list. They don't come more elusive and he looks better physically after an off-season of maturity and working out.
4. Kyle Warren, Diamond Bar - Warren often gets lost in the fog of Diamond Bar's overall struggles. But make no mistake, he's got the frame and athletic ability to be called one of the top WRs in the area. I'm not sure how new coach John Martin is going to utilize him this year, but his 430 yards and 5 TDs in last year's season from hell actually don't seem so bad. I expect those numbers to imrpove along with the team. Warren is one of the top weapons around.
5. Dimitri De La Fuente, South Hills - Yes, the pitcher can play a little catch. DLF's overall numbers may have taken a hit with Wells' arrival, but there could be enough to go around this season. DLF goes from being the No. 1 target to a clear No. 2. But sometimes that means only big plays and he can certainly deliver those. South Hills' WR depth goes very deep, but expect DLF to have some big moments.
6. Taylor Herrera, Damien - The more I think about this Damien team, the more the glass looks half full as opposed to half empty. Herrera can flat out fly. He's got a great QB in Danny Pertusati to work with, too. Imagine this scenario: Pertusati gets flushed from the pocket, he makes a move to stay alive and sets up to go deep. There's Herrera running all alone behind the secondary ... TOUCHDOWN Damien! There should be a lot of that this year.
7. Kevin Jones, Northview - I'm Kevin Jones, don't like you don't know my name. Ain't nothin' changed ... OK, sorry I couldn't resist a "Back Then" Mike Jones reference. Anyway, we've discussed the skill position explosion taking place at NView and Jones is a big part of it. I like the Vikes passing game lots this year. QB Oscar Robles should love what he sees when he looks down field. It's either Jones or Anthony Farmer. Ooooh, I like the upside of this team! It's breakout time!
8. Darius Reese, Duarte - I'm going to place Reese on this list, but the truth is that he can and will do it everything for coach Wardell Crutchfield. Like Wells, Reese is the definition of an all-purpose player. Just like most of the names on this list, Reese + open field = points. An offensive Big Three of Austin Goldsmith, Chris Harris and Reese should have Duarte in store for another big season.
9. Tony Seanez, Los Altos - Little Tony Seanez ... what can you say? The kid just gets it done. He won't scare opposing secondaries, but they'll have a hard time getting in position to make a good tackle on him. And therein lies Seanez's biggest strength - he's elusive. I'm not sure what to make of LA's passing game yet, but Seanez is as sure handed as they come and he'll deceive some DBs to the tune of embarrassment.
10. Anthony Farmer, Northview - Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see Farmer have just as big of a season as Jones. There's gonna be enough to go around at Northview as the offensive circus at District Field will now be conducted by the Vikes and not Covina.

its about explosivness. getting off and them making those moves
some food for thought for all the guys arguing about 40 times. how often on a football field do u get to get in a 3 point stance and run 40 yds. in compression shorts and track spikes? never. dont get me wrong 40 time is important, but its not everything, u have to be able to manuver your body correctly, and have control to get in and out of cuts.
Rate them against the best.
Any thoughts...Damien's Bento vs. South El Monte's Cogburn.
hhahaha WOW...duarte is better than MONROVIA POINT BLANK..and DARIUS REESE should be moved way up on that list...
Anyone else see any other SGV teams ???
Just got home from the Bonita Passing Tourney....Damien has another stud receiver to go with Herrera think I heard them call him Bento all I can say is WOW he is tough!
Dorian Wells is not all that.........He is good but he is not number 1.
first of all, let me start off by saying that covina is being highly underestimated. yes they've lost about six all cif players but who says a young team with heart can stick it out. covina's the team to beat and i'm sure they're ready to live up to the expectations. qb jacob olivas and recievers tucker and williams combine to make a dangerous trio, and don't forget billy paredes who two years ago got his playing time and did well. and i'm hearing of two more dangerous threats on both sides of the ball which i'm not sure who they are but i've seen them in their jv season and i expect great things from them..although covina is nothing like last years team, don't be surprised if they win games by playing hard four quarters.

Wells is good by Bogan doesn't worry about one guy getting all the catches. When he had the Payton twins on his team (both starting in the PAC-10) he made sure everyone on the team got involved. He knows he will have to field teams in the future won't sacrifice that just because one guy is better than everyone around. He has 3 guys competing for the QB job and the two that don't get it are good enough to play other positions.
He will also have the San Antonio League 100, 200 and 400 meter champs lining up someplace on the field.
Now, if they can just get a block or two.
damien doesnt have the the athelicism! come on give me a break. they use there physical play in basketball to make up for it. and football its there agility that saves them
shut the hell up,the best in socal omg.
Dorian is SOFT!!he needs to be mabye around #5
DHSFAN
Get into a legit combine, run by a legit company and we'll see your scores. If you guys had 20+ guys in the 4's, where was your speed last year, and hasn't seen it this spring?
Total BS Dude
Damien has no athelicism right where are you from??? They were ranked # 1 almost all of last season and will be near the top all of this season but you can just wish you have half of the people Damien has.
All right you guys! You've all heard about the SH QB's 3 in the top 10, The RB's two in the top 10 and now about our Recievers Two in the top 10. From any bloggers view it would sound like SHHS is loaded. From that perspective I guess you could say yes. But your not seeing the whole picture.
The Defense. These boys will make friday nights exciting. Imodu D-1 prospect on the DL Looks like a Man-ster, Kuklinski is bigger and just as fast he wont give you much to work with on the outside. Bowden is bigger faster and a lot stronger with the same instincts not to mention a truck load of attitude. Goss goes about 195 with great wheels. The way Bogan is using Goss. I pity the WR who draws his coverage. With the addition of Dorian Wells in the secondary and a few other great kids this defense is awesome.
I know its early and pads will make a big difference. But, these kids have already proven themselves.
All I'm gonna say is watch for some great Football
at District Field this year.
Oh! And Bogan you may want to bring in some more bleachers 31
First off cant say much about a 6'4" Qber prospect goint to duarte but what a shame this kid will never get the right kind of coaching or the football invironment needed to develop. Remember there are a lot of 6'4" kids in so cal but very few are good Qbers, and most of them are at Qber camps all year long learning and polishing thier skills, if the kid cant afford this at leastr get him into aschool where he has this oportunity.
Sorry but the truth sometimes hurts, clearly this kid has foolish advice or has no good people around him, if he is the kid I saw last year at the playoffs( I was invited to watch my buddies kid) he needs to be at one of these local schools South hills, Charter oak, St Paul, Upland, right now these are the only schools this year that have serious and real quarterback staffs as of this upcoming season, and have q b's over 6'2".
There are others Los Osos Hart Valencia Culver city etc but all are too far, if anyone in this community really knew football they should try to talk some sense into this kid and who ever his guardian is.
As for recievers the human highlight real is SEANEZ from Los Altos I know ARAM dont like short people but this kid is unreal, against good competition he is about three touchdowns a game. He would have been all vallwy M.V.P. last year but Los Altos wouldnt play him they couldnt let him show off the senior but the deal is he is twice as good as anyone last year and he played over wells as a freshman at amat.
SEANEZ first round playoff vs Rowland three TDs
second round vs Canyon 3 plays 3 TDs
third round double covered and even triple at times, word from e/d staff they worried about this kid more than the other, some kind of speed thing.
Dan,
Your assessment of South Hills is closer to right than wrong. This team is one of the best in SoCal. It's not bandwagon jumping, it's calling it like it is. This won't seem like a stretch once the season starts and people see what's up.
Tacobell,
I'm a WC.Bulldog fan not a South Hills fan, anyways it was also South Hills first game, I agree that in the first game teams aren't quite clicking but who's to say Esparanza wasn't clicking and SH was.
Against that schedule I would say South Hills most years would go 2 & 8 but I'm in the camp
that say's this years team might be one of their best teams under Bogan, I agree that I could be wrong and SH. could turn into a flop, but I don't think so. As for the Charter Oak game I think we all know that that was not a true measure of how much better C. Oak was than S.Hills, it was an off game for S.Hills and if they played again the game would have been much closer. Lets remember that Coach Bogans mother had passed away that same morning of the game, so I'm sure that was a factor.
Anyways I give this years S.H. team a shot against schools like R.Cucamonga, Carson, St. Paul, Almeny, and a small shot against teams like Crespie & Los Osos, also if Loyola has a sub par year [By Loyola standards] like they did last year I would give the edge to S.Hills. but only
if S.H. is as good as a lot of people think they will be. Like I said none of us really know, but the way you were talking you were making it sound as if it was impossible.
The combine he is talking about was put on by Santiago HS. This was a invatation combine for the Inland Empire. It is legit and it was lazer timed McMahon ran a 4.45 forty and a 4.13 shuttle. Taylor has also been timed a 4.4 lazer.
Damien accually has about twenty plus kids that run in the 4's. A lot of them with good skill. Take a look at the sparq Los Altos combine. they have a wopping 4 or 5 kids in the whole program thatrun in the 4's. But they are well coached and that is what can make the difference come game time. Speed is great you can't teach it but, you also have to know how to use it.
spartan fan at June 20, 2007
Are your talking about Morrison's combine or the Nike combines! Better check the stop watch.
The records clearly outline the results of which kids run 4.3 to 4.5 and your boys aren't on the list.
So produce the reports or like I said its totally BS. Morrison needs to learn how to run a stop watch!
Ya your right Damien doesn't produce any talent. Especially Eschardies, Harper, Lucero, Pertusatti, OH AND MENDRUN THE BEST ATHLETE IN THE VALLEY! But you're right
DAMIEN HAS NO ATHLETICISM?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? SOMEONE BETTER GO WATCH A PRACTICE OR TWO.
haha damien has no athelicism!...please sum guys cant even jump over there
give us a break
Are you kidding Taylor H won the 100m dash as a sophmore at league finals and has been clocked at 4.4. Ryan M got clocked at 4.4 laser time at a combine to. you need to recheck your self if you dont believe Damien has speed
Dan,
30-27 , The first game of the season....No team is clicking on all cylinders at that time. everyone it tight being the first game and all...if you would have played them in week 7 or 8 Esperanza would have kick your a-- all over the field.......6 or 7 games SH would win on Amat schedule..I dont think so.....I will give you that arguement if you blowout teams like Walnut, WC, Nogales and Rowland with scores like 56-0...So lets see how you take care of your schedule first before you say that you can beat true D1 caliber teams.......You do have a good team this year So. Hills, SGV wise you should dominate D6 and get far in CIF, but to say you can play that Amat schedule and be over .500 is ridiculous and you know this...stop kidding yourself....CO destroyed you and look what El Dorado did to CO.....OK you got D.Wells but he didnt exactly light it up for Amat last year. Loyola send Wells to the bench with a shoulder injury in the last game.......he is not all world by any stretch of the imagination. Lastly, your team lost to Rancho Cucamonga and La Habra last year not to mention Rowland....This team could not have that many good players coming back to say they can play with the Harts, Servites, LA City Carson or even Amat for that matter....your right lets see when pads and hitting come on.
Spartan 07? at June 20, 2007
Better find out who's manning the stop watches!
There is not one guy who runs a 4.5 at Damien. Better tell Big M to re-time! LOL
Spartan 07? at June 20, 2007
Dude, your off your mark. Better look at Combines to know Speed!
seriously, we need to change AMAT's name from "Bishop Amat Memorial High School" to "San Gabriel Valley Football Farm". First Aram ranks McBride the #1 Running Back in the Valley, now he ranks Wells the #1 Reciever in the Valley. I'll bet money that Dominique Austin is the best offensive lineman in the Valley and Kevin Bonilla [now at Chino Hills from what i've heard] & Marcus Wagner are top ten in their positions [DB & LB]...
I'm not pointing fingers [Msgr. Carroll], but there needs to be changes down on the farm...
Define fast?
In the 40 by position:
WR----4.5 to 4.8
RB----4.7 to 4.9
LB----4.7 to 4.9
OL----4.9 to 5.1
DL----4.8 to 5.0
QB----4.5 to 4.8
Damien has that kind of speed?
are the top TEN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN group ever going to come out
Damien has 6 or 7 WR's right now who are fast and can catch. Taylor Herrera may be the big gun but the passing game will be very dangerous when they go 4 wide. The TE position looks stacked too with John Rabe taking reps. The only problem is if Pertusati goes down, there is not another competent QB on campus.
One other thing Tacobell,
That 05 Esperanza team that needed a last second field goal to beat our little SGV D6 team was in the D1 championship game that year where they lost in a shootout against Loyola, the score was 49 to 42 in Loyola's favor. Esperanza's record that season was 12 & 2.
TacoBell,
Year in and year out they might not hang with that Amat schedule but this year there are about 6 or 7 teams on that schedule that SH. could have a pretty tight game against if their team is as good as many people think they will be. Truth is you don't know & I don't know so we'll just have to wait till the pads come on.
Remember also that the 2005 team that almost beat Esparanza was playing so well at the end of the year that they also would have had a shot at many of the teams on that list.
THERE IS A BASEBALL THREAD STARTED, GO THERE TO SAY YOUR PIECE.
Anonymous at June 19, 2007 09:29 AM,
The 6'4 former Hawk QB lives in Monrovia, he'll be attending Monrovia as a Freshman next year, but the 2 RB's from that same team are Duarte kids and they'll be paying Falcon Football next year.
Your right Realist 24, I said 0-10 for Amat playing that schedule but other SGV teams would not do any better, including your stacked SH team...Los Altos still seaching for a QB so I do not see them as a big gun for the SGV this year...I hear Tillis may be named the starter???
Rio Hondo Fan,
Duarte went further in the playoffs (same division), won its league and sent two players to D-1 schools. Although it lost to Monrovia, I'd say Duarte had the better overall season.
Falcon pride its funny you bring that incredible JAA Hawks team.Do you know which school that 6'4 QB is going,or how about that those Two RB's how about them
Thomas Clarkson of Diamond Ranch put on a clinic at the NFF combine in Corona and at the UCLA camp. No one was able to cover him. He was rated the #1 WR at the Cal full contact camp and had 51 catches for 826 yards as a junior. How can he not make the top ten? Clarkson is already getting recruited by major colleges and is one of the top WR in the IE. Don't sleep on the this WR in the SGV.
Aram just when did Duarte start kicking butt?I think the last time those team played Monrovia won 42-12.You don't get any CIF awards for passing league games. Also since Monrovia and Duarte started there will always be transfers in and out of that school geographically they are just to close.FYI last ten years of this rivalry (Cats 9-1)Oh also that year they won they were with all of the players Monrovia cut for discipline reasons (Adams,Hale,Gholar), so I guess your right ex-falcon anybody can win anytime
its summer u lame. football doesnt start till september.
basketball ended alooooooooooooong time ago
Aram DLF from SH is a natural receiver, taller and bigger then Dorian Wells, just watch who has better hands and leaps.
Too Funny
All we need to say is "FRIDAY NIGHTS LIGHTS"
Wait for your baseball thread, then you'll be right at home!

GREAT POST!!!!!!
Taco Bell,
You talk about getting waxed Bishop Amat is going to get waxed in that league too. Soon they will be playing in Div 235.lmao. The truth is bishop is done and the coaching is going to make it worse.
Every single year i was in high except my senior year there where monrovia transfer, Monrovia just need a cocahing change, a new look at things. No dis to garrison but he has proven that he cant win with Crazy amounts of talent.

ExFalc,
When I saw Garrison at the Amat-Monrovia baseball game, he gave me grief about saying they were losing the talent split. He got a kick out of it. You just can't tell me that it doesn't hurt Monrovia when Duarte is kicking butt. History shows there have been Duarte kids in the past who starred at Monrovia.
Monrovia Fan,
The Town might be deep, but there not that deep! they can be beat buy duarte, dont fool your self.
Chief -- we can all fill in our own blanks --
Personally I don't give a rat's ass about football -- it's not what my kid plays, he happens to play baseball SO NATURALLY that is where my interest lies. He happens to be a damn good baseball player who did make 1st. Team but we are sincerely interested in who else made the team. I get the whole FOOTBALL scene at the schools and the Boosters is mainly supported by Football people but that is not why I choose to read the Tribune. I will follow and support the school IN FOOTBALL as well but again NOT my sport. So please don't waste your time trying to defend Aram - or maybe that was really Aram under an alias - and he does think of himself as quite the legend.. Thanks for the info but next time you get on your soapbox and pro-football kick (good pun) SAVE IT -- NOT INTERESTED
Aram calls coachs all the time to ask them there opinions about players. I have spoken with many coachs who have told me that they had spoken with aram about who should get poy or what they thought about this kid or that kid. So get over yourselfs and stop being upset that you child or even you yourself did not get all valley. War Legend
Chief Legend has spoken
Let me take this one Aram: I'll tell you why football takes up most of Aram's time on this site...cause it is the most important sport on a high school campus. Not just because of the sport but because of the social event. It sets up your whole school year if you have a good football team then the schools morale is up and you tend to have kids more involved in events that are school sponsered. Can you not see how many more hits a football thread gets then lets say a baseball or basketball thread. Now dont get me wrong i love those sports just as much. But the fact of the matter is that people want to talk about friday night lights. I mean you get about the same amount of people at a varsity baseball game as you do a freshmen football game.
Chief Legend has spoken
AnyMOuse, are you fricken kidding us?? I have seen more posts in the last two 2 weeks from Aram then the whole baseball season combined. It is so obvious. i really think management needs to be more aware how MANY PEOPLE are pissed off and it's no joke, it's for the love of the community and kids that we follow. For many, The Tribune is part of our lives, like In-N-out, like Chicks Sporting Goods -- it's all we know and love.
I read somewhere and I hope it is NOT true. Aram cannot possibly be the ONLY one who picks for All League and/or All Valley. i do not know the specifics. I know All CIF is a whole different ballgame, I beleive there is a panel. Right?? No way can Aram be the only one that gives out those recognitions. I can almost pick HIS picks. Shed some light Aram -- do tell.
Give Aram a break, he is on vacation you know...
I mean do you want the all valley team put together during "Happy Hour"?
Cmon now :)
AnyMouse...
Oh, you were talking to me.
The All-Area baseball section is out tomorrow, June 19. Softball is the following day.
Aram,
I'll ask the question slowly for you.
When will you publish the All Valley Baseball players & coaches of the year list?
Hopefully you can answer this before you come out with the all-extra point holders list.
Remember, like others have said, SGV is a baseball area, not football.
yes, football in the sgv is weak
OC rocks the socks outta SGV!!
Aram knows where his bread is buttered. He jumped off the AMAT wagon and jumped right on So.Hills as soon as they signed D. Wells.........He goes towards the winning program thinking that brings more reader from that particular area........I hope SH chokes.
The All Valley Team used to be huge when it came out. It's still fun to see kids you know etc...but it doesn't have as much credibility to it because Aram sits down and does it all. He doesn't ask coaches for stats throughout the year and comes up with it just off of opinion.
Canada is going to Duarte because he lives in Duarte. He's not like all the other Wildcats who live(d) in Duarte (IE Sparks, Potts etc) and grew up playing JAA for Duarte Hawks but went to to Monrovia because they though it was a better school. Look who's crying now that Duarte's proven a better academic school (Calif Distinguished school, top 5% in the nation published in Newsweek) and making a name for itself again as a football school. Some of the Cats who grew up playing Hawks Ball are now wishing they were playing with their brothers at DHS instead of MHS. Some have even Crutchfield because they want to play with the Falcons next year.
It took CIF less time to compile 7 all CIF teams before Aram can put together the all area team. However he has had enough time to put together his top ten special teams player for the upcoming football season
Canada is going to Duarte because he knows that the receivers and db,s they have now are all league if not all cif and they are 5-6 deep at that posistion.Anyways his brother was one of the biggest busts ever,if he wasn't offered his junior year,he would of never made it/w the charade he put on his senior year.Once Cal found out that he wasn't a competitor it was only a matter time Never played one lick of ball up there.Plus who would you rather be coached by Monrovia,s wr/db coach Damon Griffin(all cif,All pac-10 w/Oregon<Rams,49ers,Bengals)or whoever they have over there.Do your homework a little better stop hiding behind the 605.Aram the Cats are loaded.I tell you what Aram do some editorial and get over there and look at the diffrence you will be impressed w/the talent on M-Towns field but stop guessing and don't listen to Wardell so much.
Haha...I agree with what Rockin Taco said about Aram being a "Gossip Editor"...hahahahahaha.
Canada?,
Yes, that's his little brother. And he's one big thing I point to when I say that Duarte is starting to win the Monrovia/Duarte talent split.
SGV you talk about SH and WC like they play those type of team year in and year out. What you play one game against a D1 team and you claim you can hang with them...maybr for 1 game but not on a consistant basis........Take youR over glorified SGV D1 Amat teams schedule and play it.. how would you?.because we know how Amat is going to do against it...NOTHING! 0-10
LOS OSOS
ORANGE LUTHERAN
HART
RANCHO CUCAMGA
LA CITY CARSON
ST. PAUL
ALEMANY
CRESPI
NOTRE DAME
LOYOLA
Your supposed best team SH would get waxed again st these teams Maybe win 2 games. Alameny and Rancho Cucamga.....Again you cannot say you can consistantly play this schedule year in and year out......come on you guys are playing Rowland , Nogales and Walnuts of the world.....please spare me SGV football sux!
Is Duarte's Canada related to Jesse Canada from Monrovia Jigh a few years back?
and top d line men?
and top d line menn?
burrito,
what the hell are you talking about?
this goes out to all of you who write stupid negative comments about the SGV. first of all SH cant hang with a D1 powerhouse... you have to be crazy to say that, hmmmm lets see 2005 SH and Esperanza played the results: SH loses by a last second field goal
the next year WC plays Mater Dei the results: WC hangs with em
dont come over here and try to bash these great programs of the SGV, cuz those D6 teams can run with anybody and play with anybody in So. Cal
enough said hahahah Aram
Aram,
FYI on Falcon Football - Sophmore Jordan Canada is healthy and running hard. You'll hear and see a lot of good things from this young, strong, extremely fast & powerful back his year. Duarte just returned from their 1st passing league tourney in Morrow Bay this week end and took 3rd place - loosing only to Servite, the Anaheim Catholic School in the Semi Finals.
Always going to be shockers when choosing All Valley Teams, esp. with Gossip Editor Aram. This will be deleted within couple min. because it says something negative about him.
You have got to be kidding me? Dorian Wells #1? I mean he is good but he should have been 3 or 4 playing for So Hills..I do not think he is the best SGV has to offer. This is based on him being at SH with the talent around him or is this based on his self abilities?....I guess if he were Amat then he would be No. 8 or 9 based on their depleted system?...
Your right Taco, Football sucks in the SGV and everyone bashes their only D1 team Bishop Amat......go figure?........those D6 schools that claim all this greatness for those low level championships cannot measure to the OC or SFV...They belong in those low level divisions for a reason ...they cannot measure up to the big boys and would get their Butts handed to them...sure they make a arguement for So Hills and Los Altos teams of the past but even those teams would lose to a true D1 powerhouse.....They are all full of bandini in SGV. Bishop is all the people hang on to and from what I hear on this blog about Amat, the glory days are gone for the next 5 years.......maybe longer.
Baseball is the SGV...look at the history of this area...how many pro football players and even div. 1 guys...not many...how many pro baseball or div. 1 guys in the sgv? Yes, that's right, too many to mention...The SGV is known as one of the best baseball areas in the USA...Sorry, but football in the sgv isn't one of the top talent areas in the country...so think before you speak.

Traditionally, Covina shoots its wad, then rebuilds for a couple years. The Colts were really good in '95-97 ('97 was Thomas' first as head coach), winning one cif-ss title, then really bad when they were rebuilding before making the semis in 2000, which was followed by some bad years until making the semis the past two years in 2005, '06...Can they buck the trend? I guess we will find out.
covina has its 2 every year. 2 years ago, paul clark and monti sutton. last year jj and brad gomez. this year its gonna be 4. the returners are williams and tucker but i have a feeling the ball will be moved along more. ive seen a couple of there practices and have many guys competing
Don't worry man, it's coming.
aram how about the top ten lineman in the area, you know if it werent for us there wouldnt be a top ten Qbs,Wrs,Rb. they get all the glory and we take the beating, how about you show some love to the big boys
Ex Falc,
What's up with Canada? How's he coming along?
Relax weaksgv, NV has ALL it's skill players returning. Jones & Farmer at WR, Williams @ TE, Rodriguez @ FB (this kid is a stud), Martin & Knowles (probably the best of the group) @ TB, Robles @ QB. With some serious depth at each position. These guys may be for real!!!
duarte has two very talented sophmores that proably will play both way, plaese dont sleep on them.
Covina has a few new faces at receiver along with the two mentioned, one is a tall blonde kid with decent hands and speed but I dont know his name.
I believe Covina likes to line up 4 receivers, who else do they have besides Nick and Arius?
Who are the other receivers and who is in the back field?
nick tucker and arius williams are going to be the main receivers this year for covina. and just like in varsity and jv for the past 2 years, covina will own nview
Covina's main two receivers last season were JJ and Brad Gomez. Both are gone and most importantly, McD AKA the guy who got them the ball, is gone too.
Northview's QB is back.
Just a little stat to throw your way...the two returning receivers for covina had more yards and td's then both of those returners for northveiw...just thought i would let that be knowen.
Chief Legend says war colts
Keep an eye on Eric Bento and Josh Herrera. Play makers, both.
Who are the Covina receivers?
aram, you havent seen covina at all, so you dont know the qb or the recievers. whats to say they wont be as productive as the last 2 years.
