Live blogging from Dodger Stadium ...

I've never seen a painting that can capture the beauty of this.
4:31 p.m. - Dodgers win, 8-6. Just got back from the postgame interviews. Now it's time to do magic with the alphabet.
3:37 p.m. - Dodger fans might want to consider that Saito may not be available. Jonathan Broxton for a save opp against the Mets' bottom half?
3:34 p.m. - Eddie's Mets just got a little closer thanks to Carlos Beltran's bomb. It was enough to make the NY media look up from their soft serve. Do they not have soft serve in NY? Geez. We've got a game here. Stop thinking about food!
2:40 p.m. - Kiss Cam just came on. Ahh, the middle of the sixth inning tradition. First we kiss, then we sing. I'll bet there are some days they don't have Kiss Cam down at Petco.
2:18 p.m. - Dong! Matt Kemp just put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run shot. Still not quite an everyday player yet, though.
1:47 p.m. - Y'all wanna hear JP flow? Juan Pierre just extended his hitting streak to 14 games by driving in Brad Penny.
1:39 p.m. - Speaking of pizza, I was wondering how I look in the press box? I'm sitting front row in the L.A. Daily News seat, and maybe somebody looking for Vinny will see the big daddy banging away on his lap top. Well, I got my answer earlier this month when former SGVN columnist Keven Chavez went to a game I was covering and from the cheap seats sent the following text message: FAT. He always had a way with words. Guess he saw me.
1:37 p.m. - David Wright just blasted his 18th dong of the season. Lotta Mets fans here. I don't get it, if the pizza is better in NY, then why ya here? I have to keep reminding myself that life isn't all about pizza ... there's burgers, too.
1:22 p.m. - Hey, Lastings Milledge just drove in the Mets second run. Ya dig?
1:11 p.m. - Remember Paul LoDuca? You say Rusell Martin, I say DePodesta. Somewhere in this huge ballpark there's a guy saying "They shoulda never got rid of LoDuca." You still here, sir?
1:08 p.m. - Have you ever been at a Dodger game and asked what your walk-to-the-plate music would be?
12:58 p.m. - Turn on Fox, the game has started. Did I tell you yet that last night I'm watching the game and I get a text message from our news editor after Carlos Beltran's bomb in the eighth inning? It said "Who's your daddy?" His name is Eddie Barrera and he's a degenerate Mets fan ... an NY transplant who does the usual song and dance about how "NY has the best pizza and hot dogs."
12:51 p.m. - Alyssa Milano has taken her seat. Nice! She sits a few rows behind the Dodger dugout.
12:47 p.m. - I just crushed a ham and cheese omelette and had a great conversation in the dining room with Times Dodger beat writer Dylan Hernandez and LANG beat writer Tony Jackson. Baseball writers are hilarious. Take my word for it.
11:52 a.m. - Back from the clubhouse. The players were watching the USA vs. Japan softball game. BUSTOS! Anyway, everyone seems half asleep since last nite's game started at 7:40 p.m. and today is a day game. Good to see Mike the Clone posting in response to this thread. But I'm curious, if we're the same person, how come I'm here and you're there? Or are you here? I might make a run to the kitchen now. They have a breakfast spread - $7 - and an omelette bar. When you're not eating carbs, things like omelettes are golden. I could hold out until the free dogs are put out ... do you know what it does to a man to eat a hot dog without a bun? Think about it.
10:15 a.m. - I don't expect this thread to have much success, and the usual "This is supposed to be about prep sports" should be forthcoming from a few of you. Nonetheless, it is what I'm doing today (and tomorrow). I can't sit up here and not see Tyler Garkow on the mound or CO running out onto the field in celebration. There, that's your prep element. Headed to the clubhouse for some juicy quotes.

Well Bonds did not homer ...but Tomko does suck!
Barry Bonds will tie the record tonite by blasting one off Tomko.....Tomko is horrible....Bonds may blast two tonite.
This blog has gone stale.
12:51 p.m. - Alyssa Milano has taken her seat. Nice! She sits a few rows behind the Dodger dugout.
Not only is she hot but she also loves baseball. I think I found my new soulmate. :)
Ah yes Joe those were the day's weren't they.
Late!
Mike the Clone
MTC,
If that's the case go back to the old days when you would announce yourself at the BEGINNING of the post. Then sign it AND put your name in the Name Box.

3's a charm!!
That was me about 9 post back
posting to Aram, Mike The Clone, Edward & Anymouse
The one that started off saying
"This was a funny thread"
I forgot to sign my name.
They always have kiss cam at PETCO Park no matter who's at the game. And hot dogs are always served in the beginning of the fourth inning. Most writers - meaning pretty much all the men - can sense the fourth inning coming b.c they leave their seat and head to the back to grab two dogs. Nice stuff.
Joe I like putting the name twice.......
Because you should know me by now "it's all about me" and "I'm a attention whore"!
(Laughing)
Mike the Clone
Now Plaid,
If you sign in where it says "Name", you don't have to sign again at the end of your post.
I guess that would be a "double-dribble" !:?)
That being said, if you can't understand the "name" part of the posting process, then I can't help you.
Response: Joe Amat
Thanks for the 411...
I did not realize that either.
I'll make sure I post my handle at the end of every dribble for now on.
It explains alot for what those blame me of being on this blog-site.
FYI: I (Plaid Lad) posted the dribble on "RE; Supervising Football Officials."
The end: Plaid-Lad
Re: Supervising Football Officials
Plenty of sports fans have been exposed to lousy officiating at the expense of deciding close games of competition that could have gone either way.
In years past, I've witnessed bad calls that ended the championship opportunites for the likes of Upland vs Diamond Bar in a CIF play-off game.
I've also witnessed officials spotting balls in critical games that made you wonder why the CIF hasn't questioned the eye-sight and psyche of their paid zebras.
The misuse of the "game clock" is also another trigger-point upon their ability to honestly supervise and control the game. It can't possibly be that everyone's clock is often off by several seconds and/or minutes. Maybe the CIF should franchise an official "CIF wrist-watch" exposing "real game time," opposed to the calendar/lunar time we all march to on a daily basis. Maybe assigning a CIF person to control the clock and game-board would remedy the situation.
Most games are governed by four or more officials. But I've seen some HS games get-off with only three. No matter how you plan it their will always be something on the field of play that is going to be misjudged or completely missed or not seen by the officiating.
As coaches, fans, and spectators, we expect no games is going to be called perfectly everytime. Naturally when calls are made we would hope that "honesty" is par for the course, especially when decisions are made on the outcome of competition.
Realizing that officating can be a troublesome task the professional levels have adopted a spy-in-the-sky-official in "instant replay." Some questioned it's existence and purpose, but since it's introduction, the fans now expect it to be the final decision without error. For the most part it has been a success.
At the level of HS football, I would imagine that it would also work for us, but at what expense....and for that, the CIF could never allow or afford it to happen.
What draws my attention on this topic was something that I just happen to read about in the rag-paper regarding an NBA official being investigated by the FBI as a suspect in games that he officiated and shaved points. Gambling is the real issue...and if found guilty as charged, I would hope the federal courts hang this guy from the highest tree to show what being dishonest will get you in the end.
To maintain credibility and honesty the CIF should always have four zebras to commence each game and one supervising official in a crows-nest to over-see each critical call.
To control the petitions by head coaches they would be given the opportunity to "challenge" the officials call twice during competition....losing NO downs if the challenge proves not credible.
The CIF should also consider who they hire as officials. I would imagine making inquiries to the Dept of Justice and checking on the criminal histories of every official is something that I believe they already do as a part of their hiring.
Officials should also never officiate games in the same area of which they associate with or reside in or near.
There are plenty of other issues that come to mind that also need addressing, but for now these would be my major concerns upon establishing controlled HONESTY in a game that we all love.
Joe Amat you little "Techie" you!
Thanks I did not realize that.
Mike the Clone
Remember , if someone doesn't (or forgets to) sign a name - they get posted as "Anonymous" by default. The blog used to prompt you to enter a name, but now there might be a dozen different posters posting as "Anonymous".
While we might feel REALLY ticked off at "Anonymous" for his/her several posts - we are probably only a little ticked off at a bunch of different people.
I've intentionally left out the name to illustrate this.

This was a funny thread to read,
hope you had a good time out there Aram,
Mike The Clone,,, poolside flatscreen seems like a nice way to enjoy a baseball game.
Edward,,, Those Chicago dogs are starting to grow on me too. I was just recently told about a place just East of Knotts Berry Farm called Portillo's where they sell Chicago dogs, I've been there twice and the dogs are great! The place has some atmosphere to it too.
Anymouse,,, don't get discouraged so easily' I know you have thicker skin then that, come on back.
Oh Anonymous,
As usual your wrong again!
Still bitter after all these weeks!
Late bitter One!
Mike the Clone
Mike the Clone,
just those that disagree with you!
Eye for an Eye,
"Mike the Clone uses it against Glendora supporters."
I do not use "button wearers" to describe ALL Glendora fans. Just a small few.
A "button wearer" can be used to describe any supporter who does not deal with reality and is one whom thinks with his heart instead of his head.
Late!
Mike the Clone
Anymouse,
I have monitored this blog for some time and don't see any reason for you to be so uptight.
DavidBrownFromCTown seems to be brutally honest.
I understand that some people tend to get edgy when called a "button wearer", but hey, you have defended this phrase over and over again when Mike the Clone uses it against Glendora supporters.
You need to be consistent or lose all respect.
Anymouse,
Come on now, suck it up and take the licks. You have pissed some off and pleased others.
Don't be a "Mouse" strapped em'on take your licks. And don't let these guys kick you around.
SUCK IT UP!
Out!
Mike the Clone
Anymouse i wouldn't worry about being called a button wearer i think Mike would tell you that button wearers think paris hilton is releveant and from what i have seen you dont fall into that category. you dont watch Oprah do you now thats is a button wearer a feel gooder.
To everyone out there I am done blogging, there are just too many haters on here and when it gets to the point that I am ready to meet some overweight and out of shape loudmouth because they are an internet bully then I have found my limit...
Its doubtful that this person would meet but thats beyond the point, there is nothing constructive here...
This blog is less about prep sports and bonding with other enthusiast every day, it has become an encouraged soap opera...
I am retired, God Bless you all...
AnyMouse...
Call me a "Button wearer" or whatever else you find in your little book of name calling and insults, I am fine with that...
I also dont care for bullys and will call them out, if your man enough to trash kids then you are probably man enough to play some one on one football with me, just send your number and you can meet me in person for the one on one lesson...
AnyMouse...
Yep and proud of it...
AnyMouse
BUTTON WEARER ALERT!!!
ANYMOUSE IS A COLT BUTTON WEARER - - WARNING WARNING!
DavidBrownFromCTown ISaDouche at July 21, 2007 05:41 PM,
Tesoros Running Back was a great player and your right DI Tesoro beat DIX Covina in that semi final game, they barely beat us and since they had 3 times the players we did standing on the sidelines to do anything different would have been an embarressment...
As for you, go down to the OC which you so dearly luv and scrounge off the well to do's whose a$$ you kiss, your a punk, wiseass, troublemaker and all lip no action...
I dont like your approach and your postings hit a chord with me so Pi$$ off...
AnyMouse...
Any Mouse,
Those losers with "Little Man's Syndrome" ruined for me. They are short, balded headed tat'ed up, and always wearing a authentic jersey which really isn't because you damn well they bought it down at the Pico Rivera swap meet.
MTC
MTC,
Last Dodger game I attended was the the playoffs 3 years ago or so against St Louis...
We sat in the left field bleachers and essentially it was a boxing match all evening...
Oh, then a Baseball game broke out and we became bored...
AnyMouse...
Anymouse,
Man those were the days...I started tailing off from them about ten years ago when the scum bag L.A. Raider fans lost their team and their idenity and needed a team to latch on too. Well I guess you know what it's like to go there now.
Same crap that went on down at the Coliseum is going on at the revine now.
Who needs that non-sense, So I head south to Anaheim and hang with "Big Mike" and the "Hatch"
My only loyalty to the Dodgers is to Vin and Tommy.
Out!
Mike the Clone
I hear ya on that one, I try to continue to like the Dodgers and they make it tough to do...
I am a fan from the Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey and Yeager era...
Those were the days, the games against the "Big Red Machine" were epic...
AnyMouse...
Beer drinker yes Dodger fan So So, not like I used to be.
Mike the Clone
Mr Clone,
Your a Beer drinker and a Dodger fan...
I knew there was a reason I liked you...
Pale Ales? Lagers? Whats your poison Mike?
If your a Pale Ale drinker go over to your local Albertsons and try the Wingwalkers, best Pale Ale I have ever drank and only found at Albertsons...
Citrusy and full bodied...
Thats my two cents for the day... Back to my Wingwalkers...
AnyMouse...
ok. I'm going to be like Mike.
out.
Dude you heading down to the Lindo for some Taq's?.............
Sorry Ed looks like the boy's are going down and Ricky be Mad.
Ever since Carvel ice cream hit the skids in the 80s, New Yorkers have had to deal with designer ice cream. So yes, I'll concede that ice cream in NY is not top notch.
Boys,
Keep reading my timeline scroll on the at the top of the thread. I'm coming with some good info.
A.T. You just made me spill my beer into the pool from laughing....yeah I've had the "size me up cook" at places a couple of times.
A.T. is the stuffed Polar Bear still over in the Stadium Club?
Ed..Listen to McCarver he tries to tell us whats going to happen on the upcoming play then as the play unfolds exactly the opposite of that actually happens. It kind of funny sometimes.
He stinks the place up!
Time for another......beer oh hell make it a couple.
Out!
Mike the Clone
Oh, baby! thank God for Beltran.
The dogs, soda and popcorn are free. They also have a daily spread that has more conventional grub, but it's $7. I bit the bullet, forked over the cash and got an omelette.
Have you ever been some place where dude who is cooking looks at you and immediatley sizes you up? He can tell what you like and how you like it just by looking at you. Therefore, I feel confident saying that's why my action had extra ham, cheese and some salsa in the middle. I've been here only four times this season and already me and the cook have a good repoire. Don't underestimate that. I wish all places could be like this!
Mike,
You would rather have Joe "incoherent" Morgan? I would take McCarver over practically anyone.
- about those hasbeen Press dogs; I feel a little better, though I doubt Mr. Aram will be.
yep yankee fans in glendora. a good number too. but most are either angel or dodger fans
Aram,
Go down the hallway and slap that "goof ball" Tim McCarver on the back of the head .........is that guy just the worst or what.
Somebody should have kicked his sorry butt to the curb a long time ago. I refuse to listen to him.
Although, Charlie isn't much better.
Ed, those dogs Aram is eating those are the dogs they decide they aren't going to sell in the concession stands so they gather them up and take them up to the press box. So it's not really a perk,it's kind of like eating left overs
(Laughing)
Barry "who cares" Bonds! A whole lot of nothing.

How about Barry Bonds? I'm watching the game, and they keep breaking in with at bats for Bonds. As if that's a good. Watching a hallowed record by one of the icons of baseball be broken by a scandal-ridden player.
fyi:are you paying for those dogs? or is that just another perk for covering a kids game. What other goodies to you get for free?
Aram "The Crusher"
Nah sounds too WWE!
I just crushed two dogs, sans pan. The Riverside Press-Enterprise guy just looked at me like "What are you doing?" Getting cut, buddy!
Hey Eddie, got anything to ask me?
Eddie the degenerate raises his ugly head.....
(Laughing)
Any consolation A.T. I was just told I have "boob's" as I hang out here poolside.
Oh dang throwing error!
Can you say self destruction King Edward!
Late!
Mike the Clone
Pizza and dogs are better in New York, though I'm gaining an affinity for the "Chicago Dog." And anyway, you shouldn't be near the food anyway Mr. Aram "Adonis" Tolegian.
Ahh yes, Glendora ... the SGV's red state.
That's the nice thing about LA, I guess. You've always got options ... and I ain't just talkin' baseball!
Yankee fans in Glendora?????!!!!!!!
id say glendora is about half and half with a good number of yankee fans too. but i wouldnt say they are just angel fans. cuz i know a lot of ppl are dodger fans and i know a lot of ppl who are angel fans. so id say half and half
Pegged Correctly!
Most of Glendora are Angel Fans straight shot down the 57. I'm sure I'll have the haters tell me different.
Stopped going to the revine years ago.....just look out there in the right field stands just at the foul pole and into the pavillion in right field. That's low life alley. Friend of mine is a sheriff who also works security there and he won't bring his own kids unless they are sitting between the baselines and on the field level or Press box level.
Use to have seats just below the press box Aisle 108 Row E corporate seats.
Out!
Mike the Clone
Almost forgot....
Save yourself the embarrassment man and take the bun with that dog.
Out!
MTC
MTC,
No dogs yet. I don't think they've put them out. Hey man, good call on the pool. I gotta question - are most Glendorans Dodger fans or Angel fans? I peg you more as Angel fans.
Big Guy glad to see your enjoying yourself just had to come back in from the pool to check the blog and grab another cold one and to see who would be the first to be complaining this is a prep sports blog..
I thought for sure Anonymous would be griping already.
Oh well I'll go back to looking for the "fat guy" on the poolside flatscreen. Time for this fat man to head back into the cool waters.
Whats the Dodger Dog count A.T.?
Late!
Mike the Clone
ya the dodger announcer is eric smith a teacher and basketball coach at glendora high school
Is there supposed to be a picture with that? Man, what a voice!
Eric Smith? This guy?
http://www.glendorahigh.net/queryTeacherDB/teacherInfo.html
OK, I'll put an Amat spin on it. I think I see Amat girls hoops coach Richard Wiard in his season seats.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESNlvOwtYYc
aram,
i came across this piece on the dodgers pa announcer the other day on youtube. pretty interesting how he got his start.
Yeah I do he did football up to I beleive the 2004 season....damn his name escapes me I met him only once. He would do those games to keep fresh. Eric....something.
Now we have the guys that goes...........
Touchdown Glendora.............
Late!
Mike the Clone
Over two hours and this hasn't turned into an “Amat” or “gotta get rid of”, (insert name of choice here), thread.
The usual suspects must have been up late last night closing down the Devil or Shakey's.
MTC,
I'll be writing the notebook and game story for today and tomorrow's games for all of the papers in our group - LA Daily News, Press-Telegram, Daily Breeze, Sun and so on. I'm filling in for the beat guy, Tony Jackson, so he can get his days off.
Did you know the voice of the Dodgers, the PA guy ... "Now batting ...," is affiliated with Glendora somehow? I see him at a lot of Glendora hoops games. Don't know his name, though. But you have to know who I'm talking about.
Dude,
Ok I'll step up to the plate and start this one off.....
That's a sweet deal how did you pull that off rolling with the Dodgers and the Mets..well I take that back maybe not that sweet, going to the revine isn't what it used to be with all the riff raff that goes to the games now.
Still kind of a nice gig because your away from all the non-sense.
Celito Lindo on the way back! Yeah now your talking Dodger Dogs and Taquito's.
Say hi to my two Idols Tommy & Vin....
Late!
