Why don't all of you give it up. The Clone offends many bloggers and others are not offended. The ones not offended are most likely those that havn't suffered from any of his stupid attacks. OK already, those koolaid drinkers can follow the Clone to the end of the world or just throw up their hands and quit like anymouse.

Why is Mike the Clone such an over the top kiss ass, know it all, done it all, need it all, say it all, seen it all? All this while telling everyone about standards when in reality Coach P. has done more for Glendora in 4 years than many previous coaches. On top of that he continues to make snide remarks without foundation or decency. He must have been one hell of a coach. Respect for his former profession. I think not. Respect for his new community. Hardly. Respect for himself and his son. Barely. Mike the Clown is and has always been an over grown blowhard. He finds comfort knowing he's a successful businessman and will put others in their place without reservation. But how does that constitute integrity? Being brutally honest is his way of telling people to shove it. Too bad Mike all that success on the field and in your personal life has taught you nothing. I hope once your son graduates Glendora parents and supporters can once again spend their time supporting their teams without your constant juvenile putdowns. Take a page out of Coach Le Duc's book and show some class. Good day sir.

does anybody blame mike the clone for any short commings of the team? show me where one person blames him for this. it's the constant back handed slaps, the way he presents his silly arguments, his statements against groups that bothers many. unless you can't read, you would have seen the many, many offended posters on this blog regarding numerous subjects not even related to glendora (i.e. women, religion, jaa coaching, tribune photographers).

why do you hate glendorans so much? you must have an underlying problem. do you realize how stupid you look by posting such silly, off the wall statements saying MTC is being blamed for all of the teams short commings? do you post such nonsense in hopes to support your argument?

Joe Amat. I agree with you, no real supporter would make such a comment. Glendora, like other football programs know their weakneses. Mike acts as if he is the only one on the planet who can see them. Ex: Our kicking game suffered last year. As everyone knows our kicker was injured. If glendora could have kick the ball into the end zone every time. Dont you think they would. I have no beef with you other than, We see Mike totaly different. Good Luck to AMAT.

So let me get this straight about some of my so-called Pride of the Foothill GHS football followers.
One and Done, Blame Mike the Clone (Seems like the record speaks for itself last three years)
Poor game prep by coaching staff, Blame Mike the Clone (although subjective some others than MTC have mentioned the same thing go back and look at some of the games on cable you videotaped.)
Finished third last year, Blame Mike the Clone (Again record speaks for itself)
Your kids angry, Blame Mike the Clone (Say What, I mean how stupid is that. Blame yourself and your parenting skills for his anger.After all isn't he a year away from being a adult. Your failure for preparing him for life's journey is not MTC's fault)
In baseball terms MTC is batting five hundred to me just on those subjects alone.
I mean do you know how silly-stupid you people look. We have some problems and it’s not Mike the Clone.You people are embarrassing and MTC has exposed us not only for our football programs faults, but for our life's faults also. Jokes on us I guess. I guess your kid doesn't play much if at all and now I know why you are so supportive of Mike the Clone and against the program. I understand your frustration of the coaches of not knowing the talent of your son. Hang in there, perhaps with a little more work during practice your son will indeed impress the coaches by league time and he will get the playing time he deservses. Oh and by the way, you say "And if things have changed I have a feeling MTC will let us know about it and if they havent then expect him to have his say which is just fine with me because he has all OUR kids in his best interest". If this was true, instead of BROADCASTING on the Blog and HURTING the KIDS, he would bring his suggestions up to the coaches and boosters at the appropriate time at the BOOSTER MEETING. I go to the booster meetings, can I help you Mike state your concerns to the coaches? Is that what you want to do? Or do you prefer the approach of BROADCASTING on the Blog and get no results for the program. I'm tired of hearing from cry babies who really don't support the program enough to make suggestions to the coaches for consideration. Keep the trap shut or see the coach.

I should have realized you were not just a well educated man, like MTC, but you are clarvoyant as well. You should have stopped while you were ahead before your true colors became apparent. You like to hear your voice (or in this case, read your own words). How do you tell a team "you won't be better than one and done before the first game is played? Do you tell your son, you will not amount to much in life? Maybe you do, but I don't. Why not get on the blog and broadcast to the world, hey son, you won't amount to much in life.

Am I being to extreme for you! Take a hard look at the individual you are supporting. Is he worth losing all of your respect? He has lambasted, women, religion, JAA coaches, photographers and several others.

Well, if one & done is the truth - I see no flaws. There are a bundle of schools that would look at one & done as a good season, if that's all that they are capable of aspiring to. It appears that Mike has higher aspirations than that and, at least according to "I sit among you too" - he is not alone.

I tell you what, if someone sold my son short - he would not have lost confidence in himself nor would I have to deal with my kids' anger. He'd be pretty determined to prove them wrong. And he might even listen to their suggestions along the way.

But they say a kid's mental toughness is inversely proportional to how far they live from the closest railroad tracks. He was woken up bright and early by that morning Amtrack.

Maybe this is a function of how far north of Foothill the GHS kids come from?

So called Concerned parent, Clones kid is a senior at GHS and so is mine just so you know. I sell the ads, go to the car washes, attend the meetings, sell the programs,work the chains, hang at the Round Table on Friday nights and your kid sure isn't saying what mine is and surely not what Mikes is. I guess we accept more than what your satisfied with. let's just say you and I and Mike will never see eye to eye. We obviously see the Glendora football results differently Your happy with what your seeing, myself and MTC arent and think the kids deserve better Mike is right about Pasqurella and Strycula they need the supporting cast to get them to the next level.Your full of it also i have never seen MTC say our coaching staff sucks. To improve yes sucks never.If your so concerned you will want better than what you have been receiving in the past. The new season is here let's see how much has changed. If you think it's "Just laughable " tell me who your kid is so I can tell him that I'm a supporter of your school, then I will consistantantly tell your son he and his team will be no better than "one and done", your coaching staff sucks, etc...

My son, who is a senior on the team, is absolutely offended by Clones remarks as are many other players.

Joe Amat and yourself are not in the same situatuation as Glendora parents. Yes, we can "suck it up" but the kids lose confidence in themselves and the coaching staff. I know personally this to be true.

So, you can laugh all you want from the outside looking in, but as a GHS parent, I have to deal with my kids' anger.

If Clone or anyother GHS supporter has good solutions to some of our problems, why not meet with the coaching staff and help us overcome these issues instead of broadcasting on a blog. What are Clones true intentions? Does he want to help the kid's and program or is he only interested in showing the blog world how sports savy he is? If he wants a talk show, don't do it to the detriment of the kids and their program.

Just an another observation.I do not hate Mike. You are about as informed as Jessica. You must be new to the blog. Go back and read MTC comments from the beginning and maybe you will understand. Yes, MTC and the lancer faithful have had our fun in the past. He's slammed more than a few blog entries from some of our more blind supporters.

The one thing that Clone and I hate the most is myiopia. At times the "buttton wearers", wherever they are, think that because the bagpipes blow or the "Men Wear Blue and Gold" that it will overcome all obstacles. FALSE. Recognize the problem. Reassure the coaches and players that they have our support. Make the adjustments. Then GET IT DONE. If not - you'll hear about it. Too many supporters skip the first step and assume that all will be fine. Those are the ones that MTC jumps on - regardless of school.

However, he has also recognized that their are some amat stalwarts who are not afraid to address problems and see taht there are things we need to do to get back to the level that we expect of ourselves. For that Mike has become somewhat of a fan.

Because, as he says, we GET IT!

Joe I could be wrong but didn't you and Mike discuss the topic of button wearers at all schools not just Amat. I beleive it was back to the end of last season. And Mikey was giving Aram a bad time about the coverage and being a Amat button wearer. I remember it being pretty funny! If not you it was one of you amat guy and that guys that was from texas and was a covina guy was involved to.

You Glendora guys need to suck it up and be grateful you have guys that care about your program.

Your Little League coach sucks, your JAA coach sucks, your high school coach sucks, your button wearing boosters suck, He has been accused of sexist remarks. Remarks about religion.. Everybody wants the kids to succeed. So Mike tells them, YOUR ONE AND DONE. He comes off very negitive and one sided. There are ways to get a measage across to people. Game was entertaining no doubt. Offensively Amat looks to be strong and can score some points, as Wagner said credit the O -line they did their job. With a 28-14 halftime lead and it should have been 28-7 due to the first touchdown by Los Osos was on a turnover. The turnover being a pass play interception as the pass slipped thru the recievers hands and into the Los Osos defenders hands on Amats first possesion. I did not understand the pass play call when Los Osos could not stop the Amat running game, but it happens. Half time adjustments very crucial and being down by 14 you knew LO would come out throwing the ball, the pass secondary needs work and thats where Daylon needs to step in and take over Deveras job and get control of that secondary, secondly the D coordinator really never used any pressure on the QB and just rushed his down lineman. Seemed like they stayed in a prevent defense and were playing not to lose instead of playing to win, again first game and a non league as well, Amat looks to be dangerous if that defense kicks in. When you can put up 30 plus points on the board you should win the game with a so so defense. Amat looked good in the process and look out if that defense gets better. player that stood out Wagner, Lenhart, Prieto, Lopez. Run D looks good but pass D needs some improvement...Grade B-

Momentum is a very powerful vice in high school sports. I agree preseason games especially a team's initial first game of the year many times the teams that are more self-disciplined and execute better obviously win. If you lose the game of turnovers, field position, and time possession then the outcome is absolutely almost always going to be a loss. I think the team thatis most prepared in every facet of that first game the best will win and obviously like one blogger said Podley had his team ready to play. Bottom line: Football is a game of situations and Bill Walsh was the master at game preparation thus why he was so successful. Football players have to be functionally intelligent and God willing gifted with speed! Glendora this week will definitely be your litmus test for this year especially after losing last week and having to play probably a much tougher opponent in the Tartans. Regardless, if you can remain healthy and improve every week your preseason schedule will favor you nicely going into league. Best of luck to you!

I was at the Covina game vs Bonita and I must say Covina was outplayed by Bonita both in skill positions and coaching. Come on, Covina had the ball in the second qtr on the 2 or 3 yrd line and choose 4 consecutive qb keeps up the middle to no avail. Is that the only goal line play Covina has? Do you think this will surprise any future opponents?

Perhaps as the season progresses the Colts will gain experience. This is not nearly the same team as last year. Lots of heart and spirit for sure.

As far as Glendora goes, Covina wont win this game or even come close. But, take this time to work out new plays or players. You will gain some valuable experience against this tough Tartan team.

Penalties and lack of ball control doomed Covina as usual, I believe that initial momentum wins games at the high school level and that initial momentum belonged to Bonita that evening.

Covina went on an impressive yet grinding drive with its first possesion, this drive resulted in a TD run by Charles Shorts that was called back by a penalty. Momentum was lost when it was called back and Covina forgot how to move the ball and went 3 and out, the penalty was a block to the back and in my opinion set the tone for the game.

On Covinas next 2 possesions the ball was turned over and Bonita capitalized on both of these turnovers with TD's, what should have been a score of 7-0 in Covinas favor was now 14-0 in Bonitas favor due to an untimely penalty and 2 turnovers.

Covina will be fine if we can build early momentum and hold onto the ball, week 2 against Glendora will determine quite a bit about the Colts this year. Lets say I still have some optimism even though the first game out does concern me.

Man I wish the section was up right now when we were discussing who the best coach in the valley is. It looked to me like Covina had some pretty damn good talent out there on Friday night, but somehow Bonita still CRUSHED them! I'm not badmouthing Thomas, but it looked to me like Podley outcoached him. Bonita definitely has good players, but not that much better than Covina's.

Open enrollment policies and having public and private schools under the same banner has handcuffed CIF's ability to deal with transfers. Anyone who has any involvement with CIF knows that they are trying to limit transfers as much as possible to a legitimate change of residence.

Because of open enrollment within districts, CIF got out of the game of determining initial eligibility. However you get there, you are eligible at the school you first enroll in, even if there are 20 schools between your home and where you are enrolled.

Until this year, if you transferred without a change of address you had to sit out a year of varsity competition unless you successfully filed a hardship waiver (which are difficult to get approved). The state legislature recently got involved however because parents were complaining about not having options if their student was not happy at whatever school they chose. With the state legislature threatening to force unrestricted transfers CIF has decided as a compromise to allow transfers between the 9th and 10th grade for any reason without the loss of a year of varsity eligibility.

As to the number of transfers, with the density of high schools in this area, coupled with most district policies of open enrollment, it is not difficult to move from one attendance area to another and trigger the legitimate move exception to get to the high school of your choice without losing any eligibility. This is especially true for families that rent rather than own a home.

To move to or from a private school you still need to have a change of address that moves you out of whatever public school attendance area you were in. The move you make does not necessarily need to get you closer to your new school, just out of your previous attendance area, even if it was for a school the athlete had never enrolled in.

One other interesting caveat is that you can move into or out of a boarding school (as a boarding student) once without a loss of eligibility no matter what grade you are in.

I fully expected Covina to beat Bonita but afterwards am beginning to think Bonita plays football at just an entirely different level like San Dimas beating Gladstone meaning the Valle Vista League is that much better than the Montview League? I don't know just a thought, what do you think?

JFR, that will take some homework, and your question is a good thread topic. I guess the answer to that is I don't know, I'm sure there were transfers long before we can remember, but certainly not at the rate it is today. It's just my observation, but when I went to school in the 80s, kids still played three sports, there wasn't as much specialization with clubs teams. You grew up with your pals playing ball across the street or with your neighborhood youth program, you weren't three hours away with travel teams. And you looked forward to playing with those same guys when you got into high school. I don't think there is that loyalty today. Heck, I don't think neighborhood kids get together like we did to go play over-the-line, or football in the park. They're too interested in video games, cell phones, Ipods, the internet, etc. Today, parents want their kids at a school that gives them the best chance of earning a scholarship and reaching that next level. They will get together with their club buddies and go to the same school, and figure out how to do it. They want to be where they're going to be seen, and with CIF rules what they're, it's an easy thing to accomplish, so there will always be a long list of transfers. Obviously, there are many other reasons, but that's my two cents. I'm sure other bloggers can shed some light too.

I'm trying to figure out when transfering started happening in the SGV. My limited brain resources recall Jim Jastrab leaving SH for LA after his freshman year while his family still lived about a mile away from SH. I know this sounds petty compared to what happens now but back then it was huge, not to mention he was a hell of a player. The next one I recall was Jason Wolak leaving Covina to play at HATED rival SH in 87. I also remember it took damn near an act of congress to get this done and today it seems to be like switching girlfriends in HS. I remember we had a good lineman transfer in from out of state and we thought we one the lotto but now, it seems to happen every other week. Who's fault is it, PARENTS, spoiled kids or CIF who allows it. What ever happened to dealing with adversity and fighting through it, I know this might sound silly but I like old school. P.S. I never knew so many spelling scholars tuned in to a HS football blog yet, never attended a day of college. Oh yeah...spell check.

As to all of the video highlights comments, all I can say is that we're doing our best under the circumstances. We're not ESPN, Fox or any other major network and don't pretend to be. They have multi-million dollar budgets and sponsors. We have an extremely tight budget, so that means we use interns, and correspondents, who are mostly starting out and will get better with practice. Three years ago I never thought they would be sending me out to a practice with a video camera, and asking that I interview coaches while holding the camera at the same time. Even shooting video of a practice and figuring out the different angles and when to zoom in and out is challenging. But these are the requirements of sports writers today, especially prep writers, and we'll get better at it. I think most of you enjoy listening to what a coach has to say on video and how he or she says it instead of always reading it in print. And even though our highlights shouldn't be confused with what you see on television, just like technology, what we deliver to you will improve over time.

Let's be clear Saints, We aint Gladstone!! Be ready for an as* kicking. I saw no one that can stop Tommy C. More to come!!!!

The pass interferance play wasn't called cause the ball was way overthrown at least thats what it looked like in the video, I believe if there is no chance to catch the ball then they don't call the penalty, am I right or wrong on this?Even without the contact it looked like the reciever wouldn't make the catch, so basically all we had was an overthrown ball.

I was one of the first people to call mike the clown out on his comments but please, stop bitching everyone. Why do we have to be so damn PC on everything today. Do you people understand we live in a great country and people fought and died for our right to be be able to say what we think without any repercussions. What would you have said if it was a young man doing the interview? Would your comments be personal or general. Would you have commented that you were waiting for "add typical DUDE saying here" to come out of his mouth?

The non pass interference call was significant, because the Lancers ended up getting nothing out of it. It was a 50-50 call. You should of heard the Monsignor screaming at the official from the sidelines, it was hilarious.

Raul Roa, I wasn't at the game, so all I got is your video to go by.
I don't think either of those controversial plays
were of any significance to the game, The first one with Wagner stepping on the inside of the cone
looked like a touchdown, but it didn't matter cause Amat scored on the next play so they got their points anyways.
On the pass interferance play, there was some interferance but from the video perspective the ball was way overthrown, a non-catchable ball, so the ref didn't call it.[that is the rule in highschool isn't it?]

What's going on around here. To Mikey, bubbly guy, I've prepared Amanda for the blog. I told her that with this opportunity comes criticism, it's all part of it. She's a tough girl and will be fine. Amanda's a broadcast journalism major with an emphasis on sports, and this was her first assignment. I thought she did great for a first time out, especially considering she had to talk to Verti seconds after a very tough loss. If you want to be critical that's fine, but leave off the sexist type comments. I don't want that ballooning into something worse.

Classic Mike the clone in operation again. Getting the people who know nothing of nothing to get all riled up. Mike you have them eating out of your hand or should I say the Tribune's hand once again. On aside note, all this talk about the great Los Osos has convinced me even more the strength and speed of the glendora lineman. As you know, the tartan big boys took 1st place at the Los Osos lineman comp, beating the Los Osos big boys and all others. Los Osos big boys powered Amat... Hmmm just a thought!

Pretty good start from a personnel standpoint. Players steppped up and answered some question marks. Wags is the real deal, Lenhart was solid and others showed they can hang with that caliber of talent. As blu mentioned, Los Osos had 9 returning starters and a #27 ranked team in the State by CalPreps. they were big and athletic, as many of the teams on the amat schedule will be. No excuses about "week zero or opening game jitters" - it was week zero and opening game for Los Osos too.

Now we have confirmed that we can step on the field with anybody from a player personel standpoint. It made for a good HS game to start the year and really, about as good a performance as the lancers could expect. The coaching staff did a good job getting the kids ready to play.

Now what we do with those players along with the game-time and half-time adjustments that we make is another thing that is just a learned skill. Play calling, time management, and other strategies are something that comes with trial and error and most good coaches learned from mistakes made in the early stages of their career. We are what we are and we've got to deal with growing pains. Good effort and improvement is on the horizon.

...and BTW, I'm not sure that I'm into Photo Boy trying to stir the pot by editing and posting Hot/Controversial plays - beginning with the alleged PI call against Los Osos. No one needs to make excuses and there aren't any amat people complaining about that one. Over the course of the season, it pretty much works out anyway. Games rarely hinge on an officials call. You learn to deal with it. A year ago their was a "phantom TD video" in a Damien game that never materialized or proved anything.

Stick to pushing the record button and let Freddie communicate with the masses.

Here it is plain and simple. Ayala gave Duarte a FB clinic. They beat them in every facet of the game. Ayala was last place in Sierra LAST YEAR. This is HS FB people not the NFL. Every year brings a new hope and a new personality. Last year was the by product of kids that were not prepared, because the head coach only had a few months, a staff of unknown coaches, and limited resources to prepare. This year the Ayala kids have worked their a$$e$ off to prepare and it showed Fri night. Not to say that the whole season will go that way cause the Sierra League is tough and there are some damn tough preseason games remaining, but give the kids the credit they deserve- don't disrespect them with that last year stuff. It is 2007 FB season now...and the Bulldogs just may turn the pages back to the glory days of old. nuff said

First of all, like my dad still says, if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything. Why you gotta be a hater pal? Echoing Fred's comment, Nisha never did sports. She was news. Now, I have to give kudos to Amanda for at least standing up in front of the camera, without a script and a few minutes to work thoughts out and on the fly giving it a try. Like everyone's first time out, I think she will get more and more comfortable with our production ways and she will continue to deliver a better and better product for all you guys out there.

On another note, no one has mentioned that flagrant pushing in the end zone in the 2nd half (have to look at my video again) by Los Osos #8 against Amat's #2 that should have been called pass interferience and put Amat at the 1 yd.-line and a 1st down. Instead, the ball went the other way and there we have the loss.

Damn.

That was a tough game to swallow. Team Amat was its own worst enemy. Blame it on first game, zero week jitters but I blame it on too many players going both ways. Amat owned this game folks. With that said, I do have to admit, this Amat team does have the weapons to compete with most of the Pac-5. Los Osos is a great team which is no secret. But once again, we have witnessed halftime adjustments that favor the opposition. Wagner was a monster...especially againts a defense that returned 9 starters from a team that was able punch it out againts a Tem Canyon team that ran over Damien last year. This was one of those games in which a play here or there could have possibly ended up being an Amat rout. But rout is was not. And to be honest...it was a pretty exiting game. Zero week madness has its advantages..and disadvantages.

Ayala used to be real good. What happened to them? They were one of the early "local" public schools to expose the human side of Amat back in 1996 or 1997.

Got me an idea this morning. What if I do the HOT/CONTROVERSIAL video highlights BESIDES the very hot VIDEO GAME OF THE WEEK! The highlights would only include to top plays of the game that meant something to the game (5 or 6 or so)! A little commentary would be added to the plays since the VIDEO OF THE WEEK can only be straight forward news of how the game went! Maybe our web dude can make it so that it shows in blog-type so that people can comment as well on the plays seen there and comment on our commentary. I guess I had the Ayala vs Duarte score backwards, a 35 to 7 victory for Ayale is more like it, I knew Ayala had a good team coming back for them, Sierra league beware, I wouldn't be suprised if Ayala is in the running for the league title this season. They will certainly be a tough game for West Covina in week 5.

You know how we Do...I like the Falcons and really picked them to give everyone hell...but consisistancy counts when you try and step up your game. Ayala would not have give Monrovia that hard of a time and Montclair would have give you guys a harder time according to my sources. So all I'm saying is just be prepared for the second week of Football and lets see where the luck falls...

The defense for both LO and Amat was questionable.

The Amat o line did their job as Wagner was untouched on many runs.

I saw the Los Altos scrimmage against Upland. The boys are looking good, even with some key players on the sideline. Raymond Rodriguez (DE/TE) was looking better than ever. Go LA!

How did other papers have Duarte winning this Game?...when they got Blown out according to you guys?....By the way We definately miss you over at the SN....Monrovia finally looks good on defense this year and may have a balanced game all the way around this year. Dwight smith was an unknown until last night. He reminds me of Akil Harris in a way. I will just go by the coverage on the tribune and assume that Duarte did loose this game and if so they will have a very hard time against the Monrovia Offense, special teams and Defense. That kid Lowden is no joke and niether is Luna and Brooks, they played completly lights out.

If Duarte thought that Ayala's Defense was tough wait until they face there cross town rivals Monrovia. They have three of the toughest Linebackers (Only Sophmores) that I have seen in a long time. They threw Montclairs running backs like door mats practicaly every single play. And as far as the offense goes..Monrovias secret weapon has been revealed...#2 he is built like a ford truck about 5'10 195 and has speed to match. From the great state of TX.(Jr.) and lets not forget about the #1 tailback Marquise Williams and his 160 yrd debut. And last but not least...the Freshman phenom made his first high school appearance with 4minutes left in the 4th quarter..(6'3 190lbs Qb) Johiah Throplay who if Bishop Amat had their way would be their Starting QB. Showed signs of his greatness to come. So I think that DuRock should get mentally prepared for a good old fashion A....s Whoopin!

Thoughts from Amat's game ... I underestimated running back Marcus Wagner. He's the real deal, shifty, with breakaway speed, and is without a doubt one of the best in the Valley if not one of the top two or three. He had over 100 yards in the first quarter, and finished with 208, and had it not been for cramping, he could have gone for much more. Even QB Nick Lenhart showed something after a nervous start. He's going to be fine. But you can tell everyone was a little tense, and even with the 28-14 halftime lead, you knew it wasn't safe. This is why it's hard to compare Amat to anyone else. I watched San Dimas-Gladstone, and no disrespect, but this is two COMPLETELY different levels of football. I knew that already, but it's reaffirming to see it in person. I can't wait to watch the Glendora's, Damien's, South Hills', Los Altos' and Charter Oak's to compare. I know it's a loss, but Los Osos is as good as anyone we've got around here. Amat's defense is somewhat suspect considering the opposition it will face the rest of the way. I don't know if they will finish over .500 with Orange Luttheran at home next week followed by two road games. But for SGV comparisons, lets be honest, Amat IS one of the area's top teams regardless of what follow's next. But unfortunately, like I've stated before, they're going to be judged by their own tradition, and based on that, they've still got an uphill battle to fight, and it's not getting any shorter.

Sorry Covina fans, you guys are in for a very rough season ahead. This season Colts are not the team they use to be. Terrible loss to a so-so Bonita team. The Colts need to gain experience this year and come back strong next season.

Next week the Colts will face off with an enormously strong Glendora. Glendora will be the strongest team you will face all season. It wont be pretty. But, the Colts have heart. Hang in there guys. Come league you guys will be a much better team.

Temescal Cyn 38 DB 15...not a shocker, but the 17-7 score at the half was, the Brahmas having a 20 yd TD pass called back on a false "fidget"--hardly a false start call...would have given the top ten D2 ranked Titans a rush up their a$$es.....DB was down but not out 31-15, driving in TC territory mid way through the 4th qtr when they had their 3rd turnover of the game seal thier fate, with TC scoring a td at just over a minute left in the game.

Temescal didnt pull their starters till then...Temescal didnt make any mistakes, and capitalized on ours...they are for real, and the Brahmas threw down with them for 4 qtrs...a HUGE step in the right direction for DB (who lost 42-3 in this game last yr)!!

Mountain View was up 13-0 4 minutes before halftime when the game was ended because of the lights...

Very hot night. Amat's miscues did them in. Had them on the ropes. First game jitters? Very impressed with Wagner and Lenhart. Unfortunately, Amat couldn't convert 2 of the last 3 possession of which 2 in the red zone resulted in a missed field goal attempt and 3 pt field goal. Take away 2 critical turnovers and convert 1 of 2 red zone possessions and you would have a lopsided Amat Victory. Still admired the way Amat played, never quit or gave up.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda, learn, grow and get better. Better luck next Week Orange Lutheran. Play with zero mistakes and you will hang in there with those big boys.

1, WOW Amat can play some dam good football.

2, Fred, Fred, Fred I dont know if you ever been to an Amat game but boy do you have Amat wrong they should be #1 in SGV hands down.

3. some bad plays in the last quarter that cause the game, Defence needs a little work..

4. Fred you need to do more home work on your top picks for runningback because I think Amat has the top 2.
5. It look like Amat was giving maybe 90% on the OL and Los Osos was giving 110% and they just won by 2pts if Amat was playing full force watch out.
6. the crowd was hug but very quiet I dont know if this is common for Amat but hey I had a GREAT TIME and will go again and SUPPORT our true D1 SGV team... good luck. SH the huskies had their scrimmage today!!! Who said these kids cant hang? SH is the real deal! Stickin it to the 16th ranked team in the nation, thats the way to represent the SGV. Sherman Oaks only scored once and couldnt establish a running game. But with a guy like Dayne Crist its hard to stop the deep ball! SH is a Top Caliber program that can play with anyone!!! You need to see how agressive this SH team is! Come next friday to district and watch them Dawgs get dirty

South Hills / S.O. Notre Dame
First things first, heres wishing no lasting effects from collision on field that caused N.D. player convulsions for several minutes. After approx. 10 minutes he was able to leave the field on his own feet then ten minutes later was taken to the hosp. A Huskie player also was injured on a different play and needed assistance to leave the field.
Both teams seemed to be working out the kinks a bit and worked through 10 play series with equal success and S.O. was able to score a t.d. near the end. Both teams seemed to really benefit from the scrimmage and were very satisfied with the Valley vs Valley scrimmage.
My take, I'd say the Huskies more than held their own. Good Luck to S.O. the rest of their season !

Under the category of their is a God. Less than an hour ago Lavelle Peterson LCHS RB has been cleared through the NCAA Clearing House to play division one football. This is terrific news unfortunately it's a little late for this year. Lavelle is going to go to Utah to play football and will be a student this year and on scholarship. Because the University of Utah started school in mid August it's to late for Lavelle to play this year, but the journey has started for him. Congratulations Lavelle!

Maggiore was the only great player we had at Edgewood, and he was as big in eighth grade as he is now. He was a monster power forward and a great swimmer too.

Coach Lasalette, wow, you know the story with him, right JFR? Third base coach, 1970 something, got hit with a line drive right where it hurts. He was absolutely one of my favorite coaches and a great Athletic Director. I use to run into him at West Covina games years later, but lost track.

I was confused at los altos last night. You had south hills kids in the stands wearing jerseys, la kids on the feild and amat kids everywhere. I say we should cut the crap and combine the three schools already.

I think we should host a blogger football game with all your sign names on the back of your jersey's. Bet there would be a big turnout.

As a former GHS grad, I have seen GStone get whipped pretty bad in the past. I think the whipping I witnessed yesterday ranks right up there with the whipping Charter Oak gave GStone back in the mid-80s. Does anybody remember that Charter Oak team?? That CO team had a great deal of talent and just destroyed everybody!

I thought that GStone played with a lot of heart. However, the team is really under-sized. Its offensive and defensive lines were just pushed all over the field. SD could have won the game 60-0. SD's quarterback will need to improve his play. He missed some wide open receivers. GHS should just play that tall QB. He will take his lumps. But, he looks like he can be quite good. Hopefully, he is not a senior.

I wish "Happy Rock" a great deal of luck this year and hopefully they will improve. But, it looks like GStone will have another long season this year. I know the Montview League is weak with the exception of Duarte. But, it will have to be really bad if they finish in the top 3 positions in their league.

Went to the SD / GS game last night. Saw what I expected to see. GS was out matched by a bigger, stronger and faster team. GS has some gutsy players and I give them credit for their spirited play, but this was a boring game. In my opinion Nico was not the running back I thought I would see. Good, yes! But the next valley stud? Far from it. No speed, runs upright, does not like to block. I watched Nico time after time try to block players with his hands and not with his body. Time after time I would watch his assignment make a tackle. In my opinion being a great player is doing all of the little things and not just racking up big yards and scoring touchdowns on lesser opponents. But hey, this is just my take.

Nico is not playing at 100%. This team is solid all around and the defense pounded GStone all night long. Granted GStone is not very good but it is not easy to keep any team from scoring.
GStone kids played until the end though, so I give them credit for that. They did'nt quit but their coaches did. Good luck the rest of the way GStone.

I'm glad to hear all the talking coming out of Riverside is not nearly as negative as last year. I mean I know they have no shot of beating Damien, but at least their new coach seems to be putting things in perspective. Yesterday I heard they couldn't even garner a snap from center at both levels...umm, first day stuff coach. Let's just rack this one up to first year jitters, and the fact that they are facing a sleeping giant in Damien.

Everyone can debate schedules throughout the season. A lot of reasons why leagues are made up the way they are. No reason to go there...

Is there a league weak enough for Gladstone to play in and be competitive?

The game last night was not challenging and unfair to Gladstone. San Dimas should schedule more competitive teams if they want to impress anybody. Strength of schedule is what its all about baby!

What I saw was the wing-t at work. The wing backers running untouched while the FB having to grind out the yards.

Barbone is a strong kid with good speed not track speed, but who’s playing track? He’s a very good player and will bring excitement to SGV.

It appears that teams will have to worry about more than Barbone. All backs looked speedy and compliment each other. Pretty good balance.

Gladstone was the worst HS team that I've seen play in some time. They need some serious work. Nico did well, but any one could have peeled off 200+ yards on that team, seriously! All you hear about is strength of schedule, like HS has a BCS. I don't see this game helping the Saints. Maybe as a JV scrimmage. I didn't see the "new" nico speed. He would break a hole and couldn't run away from anyone. The two other backs carrying the ball for the saints, ran just as well and maybe faster. With all that, the Saints will still do well. I don't see NV stopping them regardless.

I was very impressed with San Dimas tonight. Nico, and the other backs were great, but so was that defense. Good luck to SD, a fun team to watch!!

Wow, your not a very good judge of a three man team in the backfield with size, strength and speed.

Gladstone is bad, but that kid at San Dimas is a very good football player.

from wat i seen at the game. san dimas has no speed compared to covina and bp. havent seen northview at all but im sure they have a bit more speed than sd. but bp is under the raidar, they are gonna surprise some teams this year. gladstone is just horrible.

I guess we know what to expect this year after your four star rating for your Gladstone visit. Loud jumping jacks don't make a team. Hell, even edgewood would have made them look silly!
