This and that …

Injury updates: Glendora coach Mark Pasquarella said running back Brent Marteney was being examined on Monday to determine the severity of a knee injury he suffered in the first half of Friday’s loss. He should have the results by Tuesday. Also, Covina’s Nate Nakelski, who was taken away by ambulance following a blow to the head against Walnut on Sept. 13, suffered a concussion. He missed Friday’s game against Rosemead, and is expected to miss up to two more weeks.

He said it: Charter Oak coach Lou Farrar following 13-9 win over Glendora. “They are huge. They are everything they were billed to be and more. They told our kids they were too small to play. What the hell, are we a Pop Warner football team? I didn’t know you had to weigh in to go play varsity football, but, anyway…. My kids just have big hearts. They are not very big right now, we ran through those big guys, but big heart, a lot of good pride and a lot of good character and it shows up in the fourth quarter.”

Said Arroyo coach Jim Singiser after 42-14 loss to Alhambra: : Coaches got to do a better job, players go to do a better job. Just all around we got our butts kicked … no excuses.”
