Mater Dei is well oiled mean machine, the only team that have the skills and speed to match them is Corona Centennial. Both teams are loaded with speed and athletes, MD has size advantage but CC has speed. And as you know speed kills. You're right Dan, game of the year billing is very appropriate. Centennial beat a good Crespi team that beat a good St. Bonaventure team last night. Any real football fans out there ought to check out this game, which will be televised!

Speaking of Mater Dei, did you see what they did
to Edison, I think the score was 42 to 14, their next game will be vs Corona Centennial, that could be game of the year, I believe CC. is also ranked high in the nation.

Did you even read the post I was refering to with the beaning comment. Jeremy stated this bad blood between LA and AMAT started during spring ball and I only refered it went back to when LA accused our girl of beaning their on purpose.Talk about ridiculing an athelete,how do you think she felt about that talk. There has been bad blood since then and now carries over to football. If you would look at half of the post you would see it is probably 1/2 fun and games and 1/2 football talk. You need to get a life and don't take this blog so serious. I for one have said I hope all the kids who have transfered and not only to your beloved LA but to other schools as well have nothing but success in their new schools.

I like it better when grown men, for the most part, talk football rather than talk trash. The jokes about Gano used to be told by bitter benchwarming making Dads in the stands during games or parking lots after games. But at least the kids didn't have to read it or hear about it at school. Amat and LA -it's a rivalry I GET IT! But what the hell did Bryce and other Amat transfers do to deserve your ridicule. I'm confused, Why would you think I hate Los Altos, I actually attend Los Altos games to cheer you guys on once in a while, if you happen to be playing an out of area team, just as I do if other local teams play teams from other area's.
I saw Glendora last night against West Ranch, & the Tartans are looking real good. Not sure why you've came to that conclusion.

I can tell your a funny guy by reading your posts. What realistic changes has la made besides going out and recruiting even harder. By looking at some of the other schools there is plenty of talent in the SGV to compete with the OC. Right now the economic situation to some families just does not warrant spending 7-9 grand per year on a high school education when you are focusing on getting that scholarship if you believe your kid is that talented.There are many good programs in the SGV that provide the exposure to colleges and at the same time you get a free education. Now there are still parents who want both the quality education and exposure to colleges and they choose AMAT because contrary to everyone thinks we still warrant a look at by college scouts. Basically because we prepare our students to succeed in the classroom as well as the athletic field.

I'm a big fan of humor, I am a very funny guy! Seriously, what dynamics do you believe will change so dramatically as to allow Amat the resources to rise to its past glory? As you will recall, back in the day, with Amat, W Covina, South Hills and LA the SGV had several teams who could be considered to be among the eltie in So Cal. However, in the last 25-30 years that area has matured, and school populations have shrank.

At the same time the Inland Empire exploded and has cranked out some very strong teams while the same can be said for South Orange County.

This trend forced realistic changes onto most teams in the SGV who have all adjusted and now we can enjoy seeing our teams play against each other in some competitive venues. This trend has been recognized by everyone except Amat it seems, who seem determined not to face the realities of their plight and are holding out for some sort of dramatic change.

I just think there is no shame in adjusting to the realities of life, thats all.

Like I've stated in the past, if you guys went 0-10, 1-9, 2-8, or whatever, you would still boast the claim of not only being the best team in the SGV, but the "hands down" best team in the SGV, and that is just not plausible, not for ANY one team. I believe LA will take it, but Tamayo and his recievers, including TE Rodrriguez MUST get in a collective groove. When throwing the short ball, Tamayo has step into his throws, and the recievers must come up with those catches.

Once this happens, I personally will feel so much better.

By the way TM, in case you misunderstood my last post, I was just saying that you gave the opinion of LA being able to beat Amat, etc. Nothing negative, I was trying to state, that we haven't gone there, like a couple of them have claimed. Thanks for the compliment, though.

Yes, I know why they got rid of the numbers. In general, there is not a big gap between levels near each other, but it is preposterous to say that teams are not grouped because of ability. The reality is there is a big gap between the Pac-5 and everyone else. The differences between D-2 and D-6 are relatively small but progressive. Everyone got excited when Ayala beat Duarte, and talked about how Ayala might "make some noise". A bad D2 school SHOULD beat a good D11 school. As those teams have played competition closer to their level, the scores have reverted to what we expect.

Giving the divisions names properly deemphasized the small differences between divisions near to each other, but in no way did it eliminate them.

What it has to do woth is some of your alumni pals foaming at the mouth on how your team would whip our a_ _ . We know who we are and we still get a little respect for the fact of what we have done in the past and could possibly do in the future. Believe you me we are far from being wiped off the map. I love your statment on maybe we should lobby to join the Sierra League. LA beats Amat this year with what our ex 3rd and 4th string QB's Tillis and Tamayo and our 2nd string RB McBride....McB is running well right now and I will give him that but you guys are riding his coat-tails. Who else has stepped up for you...I do give credit to Rodruguez and Longoria on the line they are good. Play someone first before saying you are top dog in the SGV. It is true from your coach that their is no confidence in Tamayo to throw the ball ,that's why your riding Bryce. 3 games and the season is early and when teams figure out How to stop Bryce your team is done. Imagine had Bryce stayed at Amat or went elsewhere...I dont think we would be having this conversation..

And yet he and/or the coaching admin had the ballz to schedule powerhouses like Valencia, San Diego's Vista, City power Carson, Farm Hart, Los Osos, and let's not forget the Defending State Champs Orange Lutheran.

And yet people like LA Conq believe that Amat is afraid to schedule Los Altos...whose most difficult scheduled game in God knows how long was last year against St. Francis...And LA lost. They probably consider Damien a powerhouse as well. What a funny joke.

Difference between those D6 teams are that OLU grew balls and moved up to play with the big boys. LA couldn't grow balls and schedules Rosemead Rebels (no knock to RHS), JAA teams, West Covina Bruins, other has beens and D1 doormats.

Your point seems to be that by the sheer virtue of Amat being D1, there is no way this current LA team could hang with them, problem is, history does not bear you out.

Just a few short seasons ago, two D6 teams were among the elite in the Southland, LA and OLu. No one doubted this and anyone who did was denying the obvious.

Instead of the Old Amat guard desperately trying to hang onto a long lost glory by remaining in a Div. they clearly can no longer compete in, they should lobby to become part of the Sierra league and lineup against th likes of Glendora and Damien.

Then maybe the vindictive bitterness which seems to be all that remains of the former dominance that was Amat, can be channeled into something constructive. Last time I checked, it takes much more than the rants of disgruntled and frustrated alumni to propel a "Once upon a time team" bsck from the precipice.

Goldie who said West Co is "supposed" to Beat Rancho C. As a West Co fan I see it as a good close game and if we win, it might be considered to be an upset by many. Also there is no West Co fans on here claiming that the Bulldogs would beat Amat, Last year it would have been a great game, this year we are young & most of the team lacks varsity experience, The game this Friday will be a good gage as to where West Co is at. But even if we lose, being as young as we are there will be plenty of room to improve even by the end of this season.

If Amat goes 2-8 I will be the first to say they do not belong in any top ten..........4-6 5-5 more like it. Carson is a turning point game to a .500 or above season. Winning two out of three games in Serra league play will be a tough accomplishment for the Lancers. It can be done tho. I really do not see them losing to THE SLIME(St. Paul) or Bishop Alemeny.

Yes, the divisions now have names instead of numbers, but it is in fact very easy to see which named divisions correspond to the previous numbered divisions. Calpreps.com lists the level (number) next to the name of the division.

Verti does not want to play LA. He's not stupid, he knows that BA has nothing to gain from this game. There are only two possible outcomes for BA and neither is really all that good.

1) You beat us and the greater area gives you NO props because you beat a D6 team. Nothing positive other than shutting LA fans up, which I'm sure Verti could care less about.

2) You lose to us and BA falls even further into the abysmal downward spiral that has been the past few years. You'd be a joke to the rest of the area and all of D1.

Verti knows this and so he won't go out of his way to schedule us. He probably also knows (unlike most of you jackasses) that LA actually has a fantastic team and would have a legitimate shot at winning that game.

LA beats Amat this year with what our ex 3rd and 4th string QB's Tillis and Tamayo and our 2nd string RB McBride....McB is running well right now and I will give him that but you guys are riding his coat-tails. Who else has stepped up for you...I do give credit to Rodruguez and Longoria on the line they are good. Play someone first before saying you are top dog in the SGV. It is true from your coach that their is no confidence in Tamayo to throw the ball ,that's why your riding Bryce. 3 games and the season is early and when teams figure out How to stop Bryce your team is done. Even when it is not season ending it takes time to get back with Doctors clearance etc. by that time the team and coaches really do not give you a look they are set on what they are playing with....good luck to all senior SGV football players, enjoy your last year on the HS football field, stay safe and knock some heads. Thanks for finally giving Rosemead some credit and it just shows that this little team has a whole lot of heart. I hope that someday RHS can play a team like San Dimas who barley beat a hurting SEM team. I know that the big time football is played east of the 605 but I like teams like Arcadia, Alhambra, Rosemead, Arroyo, and Shurr. Stop the hatin and Fred you know football to bad some of these people do not know a damn thing!

West Co. is the team I love, but I wouldn't go so far as to say we should be ranked above Amat, Amat isn't the team they were 10 years ago, but even this year they will still beat most teams in the area, This Friday will tell a lot about where West Co is, remember they are young with seven sophmores including their QB as starters.
Last season would have been the year for West Co to challenge Amat, if Demond Wallace & Tyler Hockenhull had fully bought into the Bulldog program I could see it as a 13 & 1 season + a D6 title, there would have been to much speed & teams wouldn't have been able to just key on Demonds brother William Wallace.

Reality sets in and you realize that NV is not as good as you think you are. Yall are suppose to be the BIG DOGS and not lose. The rankings are pretty much base on the caliber of the team and the teams they play. If NV played any of the teams BA played, NV would get crushed. Yall couldn't even hold there jock straps. After we beat Rancho everyone discounts it as we only did what we should have done and that beating them really means nothing since they are not the team they were last year, now WC beating them will be a big win. We know they come from a smaller school, but have played well together so far this year. I can't speak for everybody, but I'll take the wins over rankings any day. I enjoyed "Getting a Line on Success" also. It seems as is the case with most contenders, staying healthy is going to be the key. These two appear to have that unique combination of ability, tools and a willingness to learn. I have said in the past that LA's staff seems extraordinarily gifted in its ability to teach and coach linemen.
