The reason San Dimas is not ranked higher is because their opponents have a combined record of 3-12. With those opponent wins coming against Ganesha, La Puente, and Nogales. Sorry for the double post, I realized the original post was in the wrong thread.

The game on Oct 12th will be exciting. And the likes of Wells and McBride on the same field should lead to some news reel moments.
This my opinion and my opinion only. Wells will have a good night and McBride will have a good night. But McBride will not get his usual 200 yards this night, and it wont be because of Dorian Wells.

You missed the Jr before the midget. The Jr. Midget team beat Wesco Jr midget team 20 to 0, and yes in the mud.

Damien Players, by now you have seen film of CO and how they tackle. Watch your knees! Yes, its legal. Hair coming out of the back of a helmet is considered part of the uniform. Its Legal. Good Luck to both teams..

Amat,

Stats? what stats?..who wants them? they are a laughable 1-3....Those stats are only good if you want to see how 3 teams beat them down......why do you think they are not made public...they are embarrassed by them but if they were 4-0 and winning you would bet your bibby that they would be in full view for everyone to see, helps recruiting......it is called protecting their reputation......think they can recruit with their present stats? UUH NO!

Joe Amat said:

There seems to be a prevailing paranoia at amat regarding stats. The girls basketball team never posts theirs either. I think they figure why make it easy to scout. Of course the boys basketball team posts theirs-but unfortunately, it doesn't matter

The Game Oct 12th, So. Hills Dorian Wells going against his ex stable mate at Amat Bryce McBride is the one that will take center stage. Wells has yet to bust onto the scene like Bryce McBride has but Dorian is a player that can perform big at any time, Maybe by the 12th Dorian will be coming into his own and the showdown will be huge...I like LA in this game only because they are at home...Los Altos 34 So.Hills 24

LA Conq said:

Fred...

Do you blame BA for not sending in their stats? Probably troo embarassed.

How hard would it be for Verti to assign that responsibility to one of his asst. coaches? Just another example poor program management.

We'll be able to put this McBride vs. Gilmore debate to rest in a few weeks. Both are awesome backs. I hope it's a great game.

Chris Rome said:

Amat.. Add it up and send it to Fred. Do you think he has nothing better to do? Amat isnt the only school in the SGV. jeez

The WestCo Bruins are a much better team than your Vikings. Even with all the Bruins' coaches bad play calling, you only managed a tie last Saturday in the mud.

this team is real good, and do u think its a coincidence, that the varsity OC, And special teams coach and offensive signal caller, are coaching that team? I think their is someething fishy going on there.....

i have seen tim gilmore in person. seen highlights of bryce. but havent seen nico. but from seing tim and bryce. both these guys can play. wit Tim being a junior i seen him play a few times. against schurr first half he already had 200 yards. on 6 carries. he is very deceptive. he doesnt look like he can break tackles. but if your in his way your not going to tackle him. very good backs. they all should get 1500 yds if not more. but i think tim is even better playing at CB. but they dont play him at that to conserve energy im guessing.

Bishop Amat fans, pressure your people over there to put stats on Maxpreps.

Off & Running. Time Warner screwed the SGV when they dropped Reg Miller and the game of the week. I love my dish. I would like to see some YOUTUBE footage from some of the other backs or any player. People if you have footage, post up here, so the rest of us can see. Reggie Miller, open a site for video. Someone will sponser a site dedicated to valley prep sports, if you are involved. I will call Phillys Best for you. Whats Cameron & Bobcat doing? Get this thing moving

Covina tell them Jr. Midgets to all transfer into Covina HS and become Colts, Covina HS sure can use the help in rebuilding after the McD year.

Fred,
I know this forum is High school sports but I wanted to share a good local story you may be interested in. Covina Vikings Junior All American has a team that has won thier conference title 3 of tha last 4 years and is looking for a back to back title this year. This team is stacked with talent that will be headlining at the high school level in a couple of years. It is the Junior Midget team and they are mostly 8th graders. I think it would be great to have someone do a small piece on them. This is just an FYI, nothing to post.

GOOD TAKE 605 fan . Rosemead is TOUGH . Ask ANYONE , who has played them this year , they will ALL say RHS is one of the hardest hitting teams around . PERIOD . Always has been that way , always will be that way .San Dimas VS RHS would be a GOOD game , we will never know though . FYI Duarte would get HURT by RHS . Just like the past , ask Duarte ,

San Dimas is right where they should be. They haven't played anyone and LA, South Hills, Glendora, and Damien would hammer them. I think they would play Diamond Ranch, Amat, and CO close. I think they would smash Duarte, Rosemead, and Northview. You have your upper tie teams: LA, South Hills, Diamond Ranch, Glendora, CO, and Damien. Don't see any team ranked 8th or below moving up all season (unless we finally move Amat out because the are bad) In that case they could make it to 7. You can't put them above anyone else no matter records because of scheduling. Teams 1-7 play tougher schedules.

Then everyone else: They Valley Vista, and Mission Valley league teams (and Duarte/Monrovia)

Lower Tier: Montview League Type Teams.

The upper tier have division one players and play tough schedules every week.

The games I've seen Barbone does go both ways, but when McBridge/Barbone are not in, they're right on the side lines rooting and yelling for their team. That's a great sign of being a team leader, teammate, and shows character!

I wish they had SGV ticket from Time Warner, so I could watch more kids. Its great seeing some of these boys play.

T. Morris said:

Chater Oak has talent and is very capable, however, they can't keep getting stupid penalties. The penalties seem to happen in very key situations and even though they have won the last two games they lost the season opener because of penalties and almost lost to Glendora for the same reason.
This years penalty happy Chargers remind me of the very penalty happy Charger teams of the mid 90's. The difference is this team does not have the talent and confidence those teams had to overcome their mistakes. The mid 90's teams had an arrogence about them, because they knew they could take a stupid penalty and come right back, often on the next play.
This years team can not afford to make those types of mistakes. Charter Oak has what it takes to win it all this year IF they stop making costly mistakes.

Chris Rome said:

Off & Running. I could not agree more. You cant compare. Can you see another back getting Six touchdowns and over 350 yards playing for the Saints? No way.

Off & Running said:

I really dont' like to compare kids against eachother, because someone will always start a war about who's better. These three mentioned are just doing things that are fun to watch. Last week I did see that kid Barbone run for six TD with three called back for about 350+ Fred saw Mcbride run over Damien(no knock on Damien) and haven't seen Gilmore yet.

The three mentioned are just great talents and I am glad to see they play in SGV. Sometimes I get real tired of others outside SGV bag on our leagues and kids!

FredJ said:

Great thing about Barbone and Wilson's Gilmore is they're only juniors. We get to watch these guys all next fall too.

Chris Rome said:

I agree, Nico Barbone is the best back in the SGV. Can he carry San Dimas to the title? I hope he can. He is a great kid with a great future. I just dont know if he can do it alone. I have yet to see him play, but by reading the posts he appears to be a one man team.

FredJ said:

I noticed that, tomorrow we'll run our first week of stat leaders in the newspaper, but def. those three are representing the SGV well.

Big Blue said:

Conq76,

I kind of lose sight on D-ranch...I kind of have them out there like a IE team...they are good and you are right they will challenge LA and CO. As far as San Dimas Chris Rome, I think they can hang with Glendora, Amat and Duarte. They are unbeaten and it seems like, like McBride there is no answer for Nico Barbone.

OFF & RUNNING said:

Hi Fred:

Have you checked out MaxPreps lately.

The SGV has 3 kids in top twelve for rushing in Southern Section!

Barbone#2, McBrige#8 and Gilmore#12 and two of these kids Juniors!

Pretty good representation for our area.....

Rankings said:

This is a statement from Steve that makes alot of sense. SD may not beat some in top ten, but isn't bugger schools expected to win? IE: Glendora vs. CO? Thats why Steve comments make alot of sense. Read below.

Anonymous,
Rankings are not always based on who can beat who, if they played. My opinion of ratings are always a balance between talent level and a reward for having a great season. It's the same in the Top 25, where sometimes a 5-5 SEC or Pac-10 team is unranked, but a small-conference team, like say Marshall, that is 10-0 gets ranked.

Big Blue. Do you really think San Dimas could beat Glendora,Duarte and Amat? I know they beat that power house Ontario Christain.LOL I dont think they will get past Bonita.

Have you deliberately over-looked Diamond Ranch? I would be very surprised if they don't compete for league with LA and CO....

Big Blue said:

Top Ten was kind of out of whack?

Top Ten as I see it

1.) Los Altos (unbeaten and Bryce is Bryce)
2.) Charter Oak (manned up against Glendora)
3.) San Dimas (Unbeaten and Nico is Nico)
4.) Glendora (Tough loss but one of the best around)
5.) Amat (Looks like it is coming around)
6.) Duarte (much respect here they are good)
7.) So. Hills (Have not hit full stride yet, but it's coming)
8.) Damien (Had Los Altos in the beginning)
9.) Rosemead (Shook Northview up)
10.)Northview (In need of a bounce back win)
